I paid more than expected but that's now long forgotten and they are more than worth it anyway. At least as important as vanity the prescription is the best I've ever had and the consultation itself was informative - I actually have a good insight (excuse the pun) in to what's going on with my eyes. I enjoyed good friendly conversation with the staff and I'm modest enough to admit she chose my frames not me!

I dropped by because of reviews on Yelp, wasn't going to buy anything necessarily but came out with a really nice pair of Oliver Peoples/ Garrett Leight sunglasses. They were no means cheap but they fitted them just perfectly. Unfortunately I lost them in Austin Texas and didn't know whether I'd be able to get another pair. They ordered them back in and gave me a discount on the original price for me since I was basically buying them twice. I also ordered a pair of lenses for my old Ray Bans, they're so helpful and quick to respond to emails. Very chatty, know about your face shape and what suits, but don't do the hard sell. If you're looking for cheap then go to your average high street store but if you've saved a few bob it's a good investment.

It was the first store where women of the day felt comfortable and safe shopping alone.... Growing up in the UK my parents would take me there at least once a year (almost every time we visited London actually - so maybe 3-4 times a year. Yes there were upmarket things, and recently we were there and sure there are many expensive brands with absurd prices. But there are also more "normal" goods for sale. Not so much in Manchester - all Louis Vuitton and simile booths all around. A good friend who knows London very well explained that the smaller Selfridges don't have the room for affordable goods and it is all for the very affluent. So come prepared to go home broke or enjoy a window shop! Even the restaurant upstairs seemed very toffee nosed to be honest- not fun :( Review #4 2020

I do think this is a good department store, it is one of the largest and more high-end department stores in the city centre, which is a fading game with Debenhams on Market Street closing and House of Fraser on Deansgate soon to follow. The store looks pretty good and is opposite Marks and Spencer in the Manchester Arndale, sadly Selfridges doesn't have a Food Hall similar to their other branches, at this location, this is a real shame - perhaps that is due to the Basement level of Marks and Spencer (a different business) having a large food section? There are two different San Carlo restaurants in terms of eating or drinking inside, I would have loved to see at least a different brand to add something a little more different, similar to what you see in other department stores such as Harrods etc. They do have some unique experiences here occasionally, Manchester City did bring the Premier League and Carabao Cup trophies here a couple of years ago which was super exciting for me as a big City fan. It can be pretty difficult to navigate at first, but they do have a store plan which is somewhat helpful, the store remains modern and clean. Some of the staff seemed a little snobbish and unhelpful, this was mixed as other staff members seemed great and happy to help. 4*

Two things changed that; TK Maxx, and this boutique on King Street, both of which you can find great bargains in at the right times. With TK Maxx you find the occasional Diesel gem, but this shop, spread over three large floors and decorated in a delightful vintage, quirky, warehousey way, is a great introduction for newbies. Its size means it has a heck of a lot of stuff on offer, and while you might balk at the price, you've just got to wait for those sales. They're Urban Outfitters standard. I for example nabbed a pair of beautiful mousey brown shoe boots, meant to be around £175 but down to £50 in the further reductions. You can get all the standard denim here, but the gems exist in the aforementioned shoes, the accessories, the bags, belts, scarves, tees, shirts, dresses... need I go on? Equally great for men as it is for women, it also has the fragrances on offer with plentiful helpful staff. It even has a doorman to make you feel a bit posh. Being on the further end of King Street means it never gets too crowded and makes for a spacious, relaxed shopping experience. 'Diesel Radio' also plays some very unusual, avant-garde and not at all pretentious music (okay, I might be being a LITTLE bit sarcastic there). Hop in during the end of the sales, I swear, you won't regret it.

Ed Hardy this is not. Instead the clothing is well, made cool and often understated. Not many sequins or brash logos in sight. Hurrah! What you'll find is clothing men and women as well as lots of accessories like wallets, jewellery, belts and sunglasses. The prices here are hefty, so you need to be ready to spend some serious money to get this serious clobber. Hell, there's even a doorman. This place is pretty upmarket.
