The dentist I've been going to was going to retire, and it was right around the time and through a mutual acquaintance at our workplace (we each other met at work), heard of Dr. Zhen Yang's practice on the side of Sam Houston Tollway West, northbound past Bellaire Blvd. Back then, Dr. Yang was the only full time doctor (that we remember seeing), and his wife Dr. Tang, who is also a dentist, was only there some of the time. Immediately I can already notice that Dr. Yang's clinic is taking a more modernized approach in their environment and decoration. The waiting room is pretty spacious and has a TV there for patients to watch while they wait. Whenever I go to doctor's offices, even though I know most of the time I am there for my annual cleaning, feels nice to watch something relaxing and educational at the same time one TV, and Dr. Yang often (not all the time) had nature films playing, which I something I enjoy watching while I wait. When we first started seeing Dr. Yang, we immediately took notice that while he has patients wait in the chairs, there were some movies available to watch on the swiveling monitors he had around the chairs and these were movies that were available on their local network. Perhaps they had just started their practice, we had to do quite a bit of sitting and wait time, and the movies helped. I still remembered it being quite funny that both my wife and I, despite being in different rooms, both chose to watch the movie "The Island (Ewon McGregor and Scarlett Johanssen)" while we waited and both couldn't get through the movie before our services had to start. P. S. We ended up buying the DVD because we both loved the movie so much. The clinic also eventually moved onto showing Netflix to the patients on these monitors* Dr. Yang and Dr. Tang both look to still be in their prime. Both are professional, friendly, attentive and thorough in their examinations. We felt comfortable coming to their clinic after a few visits. Although we were there mostly for our twice a year cleaning and checkups, and before they hired more oral hygienists, Dr. Tang would also chip in to help with the deep cleaning, which she did for my wife a few times, we also stopped in for other reasons. My wife removing a wisdom tooth, I had to get some fillings done on my teeth, which amazingly, after getting them done back in 2010, they are still on and did not once fell off and needed to be redone, and getting nightguards made because I grind my teeth during my sleep (again, well made quality night guards that even after 5 years, even though I put some dents in it, still managed to hold up). That co-worker that had told us to come to check out the clinic moved on to other dental practices after a few visits. But we decided to stay with Dr. Yang's practice because of his craft and dedication to his work. The clinic now has more Doctors and hygienists on board and Dr. Tang has retreated to be more supporting administrative role for the clinic. Dr. Yang really only work during the week days while the other Doctors work the weekends. The clinic can be extremely busy and hard to book. So if you are booking appointments for deep cleaning, you have to book approximately 3 months of your preferred month/date. That's right, can't book too early and not too late. The clinic accepts most dental insurance and accepts cash, and credit cards as form of payment. Give Dr. Yang's clinic a try, you might starting to look forward to your dental visits.

The only way to save it was to extract it and replace it with an implant. It was my first time dealing with Dr. Frank Sung and I was ready to change dentist. He quoted me a price so shocking and made him sounded like a used-car salesman. "You can get a loan" and "you need to pay the full price up front," he said. I thought, yeah right, I could buy a brand new Kia Rio with 3 implants. Not sure what the use is by having insurance. I was shopping for a dentist without using insurance. Dr. Jasmine Sung saved me from leaving. After a bite wing crown fell out in the fall, she explained the pros and cons on bridge, implant and no tooth. She analyzed the implant method would be most effective. So, I've decided to have it done next year after she comes back from her maternity leave.

Because Dr. George Liu is everything a perfect dentist should be. Some of you have been following my dental saga last couple of years. Here is how it continued. I ventured out to the other side of Dun Huang Plaza. I wandered into a dentist office next to Cafe 101 at building A. I remember my first memorable impression as I was greeted by a friendly hygienist named Jennie. She understood my needs and condition. In a few days, I met Dr. Liu on my initial consultation. I felt very comfortable with their practice in patient care. In the next few months, my immediate need was met to replace the fallen crown. I appreciate how this husband-wife team took good care of me. They worked with my insurance and prepared a timely treatment plan. Also, their office hours work with my schedule - dentist is available from Monday thru Saturday. I could finally get my dental implant done on my day off. One big plus here is simple staffing. Unlike other dental offices I've been to, everyone knows everything or someone would get back to me promptly. Because they are highly efficient, my wait time is usually less than 2 minutes (before I could turn a page on any newspaper). I see their customers are Asian. But don't be shy; they also speak English, beside Mandarin Chinese and Shanghainese. First Central Dental has the latest dental technology and Dr. George Liu has the superior skill to make my life better. Just wanted to update my review. A lot has changed over the years (my last review was 5 years ago). Opened a separate location, then closed. Some dentists came and gone. Now he is back to the original office, which was remodeled a couple years ago. One thing that hasn't changed is my trust in Dr. Xue. I also really appreciate his reasonable pricing. I live in town and it is worth the drive. This is a great practice for uninsured patients as well. I sometimes do have a communication issues with his techs, but I can always find someone to clarify what I'm saying. His schedule is usually pretty booked, but he works efficiently. I most recently tried the water laser for a filling. It does not require an anesthetic shot. There was some sensitivity when he was lasering one part of the cavity, but overall painless. Here's what I pulled off the internet: While the Food and Drug Administration has approved laser use in the dental industry, the technology has not received the American Dental Association Seal of Approval. This is mainly because some tests have not shown that laser teeth cleaning is more effective than manual cleaning. So far it seems to be just as effective as the manual way and without the numb mouth afterward, extra swelling, and bleeding. It's also great for kids, that's what my 6 yo niece does for her fillings.

I ended up crying during the procedure. He did a horrible job and the veneer ended up being extremely THICK and he chipped away most of my enamel. Worse, the veneer fell off 6x(!!) and had to be re-cemented each time over the years, costing me thousands of dollars in additional treatment and not to mention time and emotional distress. I'm finally getting a crown done soon somewhere else to end this vicious cycle once and for all. You don't get re-dos for your teeth once they've shaved it off. Beware of this guy, his poor skills and will push for aggressive treatment for $$$. Save yourself from years of headache and money lost.

They should have referred me to a specialist from the start instead of wasting my time and causing unnecessary pain. Save yourself the hassle and find a dentist who knows what they're doing . She is young, but I was impressed by both her dental skills and her ability to communicate clearly and explain the treatment options. This was a second-opinion visit for me. A few days earlier, I had visited another dentist and was told that I needed deep cleaning with laser phototherapy, which would have cost me more than $2,200 out of pocket after insurance. I'm very glad I came to this office and seen by Dr. Yan. She was able to use the photos and X-rays from my previous visit, and I was able to get the deep cleaning done with an out-of-pocket cost of less than $400 after insurance. The front desk staff was also professional and helpful. The office is on the second floor and was a little difficult to find at first, but everything worked out well. Overall, I had a very positive experience and am glad I came here for a second opinion.

My husband still cooperated and 2 more X-Rays were taken at exactly the same location! However, the tech asked to take another X-Ray, maybe the previous X-Ray images were not satisfied?
