This is a long overdue review; however, it gave me time to put my emotions aside and formulate a…read morefactual, to-the-point review of my very negative experience with Primrose Schools of Solon. Upon first visiting Primrose, I was incredibly impressed with the new, clean environment. Everything was up to date, security was on point, and things appeared very sanitary. The director at the time was very kind and knowledgeable, and she did a great job selling me on all of the reasons why Primrose would be a great fit for my daughter. I felt good about the decision, and a few days later gave my deposit for her to start when there was an opening - which they promised would be no later than end of September. End of September came and went, and no word from Primrose. We came to find out that the director I had spoken with had left, and we were completely forgotten about. Red flag #1. Once I finally got through to them and had my daughter start, it was one issue after another. I specifically asked them not to give my daughter milk. She was given milk on three separate occasions. Each time, I reminded them - both verbally and via handwritten notes. Since she does not drink milk, she was dying of thirst when I picked her up and would suck down her water on the way home. Red flag #2. I was told (and it was documented in paperwork) that a backup lunch is offered if the child does not like what is provided. It was communicated in my daughter's notes three times that she had not eaten any of her lunches. Thankfully, I picked her up before nap, so it was not an issue and she was able to eat when she got home. Red flag #3. In the short time (three months) that my daughter attended, there were not one, not two, but THREE different directors. I understand there is turnover in the childcare industry, but WOW. Something is obviously very wrong! Red flag #4. And finally, the last, and most notable occurrence. I wrote up an email outlining all of these issues and sent it to the franchise owner, Jana Massary. She took her time getting back to me and let me know that she had "several meetings" and would be back in touch with me later that day. From the moment she called me, I knew it was going to be a bad interaction. She was incredibly rude, demeaning, and, quite frankly, the exact opposite of the type of person you would want caring for your children. She issued zero apologies for anything we had gone through, and proceeded to hang up on me in the middle of the conversation. I would say that she's someone that clearly can't take negative feedback, but what I provided her were straight facts and experiences that we had while my daughter was in their care. It is clear that I would advise anyone and everyone from choosing somewhere other than Primrose. There is nothing "warm" about the school, and it is clear that it stems directly from the leadership. It is no wonder that teachers are electing to leave at such a rapid pace, and from what I've heard, families as well.

The teachers are attentive, aware of developmental levels and developmentally appropriate practices, and care about each child as an individual. My kids are learning through play and loving it! Unfortunately this daycare has high turnover for employees who last no more than a month or two. They are extremely understaffed and over capacity with children. Week after week we drop our daughter off around 7:45am and there are 5 infants to one teacher in her class. If our daughter is not one of the 5 babies, they turn us away and tell us they have no more space for our child. It happened last week and again yesterday and again this morning after arriving earlier than expected at 6:45am. They claim they sent an e-mail notifying parents of the staffing shortage but no e-mail was receive to my wife or my accounts on file. We pay almost $300 a week for this place, $1200 a month. For Creative Playrooms of Solon to be so unprofessional and unreliable to still take our money and deny us space for our child due to staff shortage and over capacity of kids is ridiculous. They need to get shutdown and have their license revoked by the state and Cuyahoga County Department of Consumer Affairs. I assumed this was a legit child care with close proximity to my office, I am an executive for the World's largest food & beverage company and to have to miss a day or two of work because they are negligent and understaffed with accepting my child is horrendous. I attended this school from 1999 through 2007 when I was forced to drop out. While I acknowledge…read morethat many teachers and administrators have changed, I can only speak to my own personal experiences, I would be remiss if I did not share my story. Years K-6th were broadly excellent. A warm, caring environment with excellent educators. Mrs. Blatnik, White, Chin, and Mr. Goober were extremely positive influences in those formative years, and I have nothing but gratitude for them. All issues arose during grade 7 during my brief tenure in the (then very young) middle school program during its second year in operation. I spent my entire childhood with undiagnosed autism; I don't blame the school for this, detection and treatment was far less robust then than it was now. I do blame to school for the resultant bullying that I endured that year, and what I perceived as the cause. The middle school, especially in its pilot years, was intent on making a big show of its success placements. There was a lot of parading around the kids who were being accepted into 'elite' high schools like Western Reserve Academy, Walsh Jesuit, or a handful of others. They were clearly trying to position the middle school as a funnel of sorts to these programs. Of course, with these elite programs came elite tuition costs, and I'll just say that my family was not prepared to shell out for one of these programs. Moreover, I had no personal interest in boarding schools, religious schools, or really any of these programs. I distinctly remember Ms. Ludick's reaction at the parent teacher night when this info was brought to light. She was aghast and, dare I say, offended at the idea. Almost overnight, the atmosphere shifted. My grades took a sharp hit almost immediately. I became the target for relentless bullying from students who were already on the so called 'elite' track. It was daily, it was constant, and I was chastised when I withdrew like a turtle into its shell. And while I admit my autistic tendencies made me internalize a lot more than I should have, the rampant bullying was apparent to all, that year, including the staff. There were other students who noticed. Nothing was done. Suffice to say, there was an incident that spring where I was pushed to breaking point, and I was removed for my own safety. It is also worth noting that once I was gone, one of my good friends became the new target, for largely similar reasons. The staff knew. The staff even aided and abetted the bullies, many of whom were among the wealthier families in the program that the admins would cozy up to. The message was clear: I was not worth the investment, boasted no ambitions for them to advertise in the future, and as such was cut loose. "Open Season." I have had many years of growth and therapy to digest what happened then. I wouldn't be writing this at all if I hadn't seen some social media videos featuring alumni testimonies, and see several of the bullies being plastered up as Star Student advertisements. With the small number of reviews here, I don't expect this to gain much traction. And, as I said, many years have passed since 2007, and I cannot speak to how things have changed. All I can do is share what happened to me, and if it happens to help even one person down the road, that's enough for me.

I was able to independently explore my passion for math and develop a ton of practical life skills at the same time. The program director/owner is wonderful. We reviewed two other programs in the area (Goddard and Kids Club) and this place had the best vibe to us. The owner is very flexible with alternative schedules - which is one of the reasons it is popular with many local teachers. We have a goofy schedule and they have been flexible and understanding. I am not a teacher, but my husband's schedule changes constantly and that is a tough sell for most places to accommodate. The program has a nice balance of structure while still catering to the needs of the individual child. My kids are both very different but have each found their way in this school. I love that they have a busing arrangement with two local schools which makes life so easy for parents once the kids are school aged. There are optional programs which cost extra money (About $10 per class per week) for music, computer class, Spanish, and I think one other. My son has thoroughly enjoyed music and computer. We've capped it at two. We too opt to send lunch for our son. They are careful to store it properly so it stays cold and always stick it back in the fridge when it is done so everything is still fresh at pick up time. My son sometimes runs out of time for lunch, but he is a chatty cathy, so I think it is his issue. My only wish for the program was to give the kids more chances to get outside. We had a rotten winter last year, so I am sure that was part of it. I also "get" that getting a ground of kids into their snow gear takes a while. But, a little more outside time would be ideal.
