The owner processed a ~$1300 charge on our credit card without our consent. When I sent an email asking for this amount to be refunded, he responded accordingly. However, soon after, I received an email claiming that my email was rude? (see attached emails of our correspondence). As a result, he asked us to find another school and kept our $200 deposit for our daughter. We were loyal customers to this school for two years. This meant nothing, it seems. We understand the policy had changed for holding our daughter's place here; however, the way the owner communicated this change was lacking and unprofessional. read more

I am raising my niece and nephew and when looking for daycare a few years back, I wanted one that would really provide me with peace of mind once I dropped them off for the day. A place where they would be well cared for and thrive. I found this at Goddard and so much more! The teachers and staff are top notch. There are a variety of activities to keep the kids busy that are fun and educational. In the preschool class, my niece was counting not only in English, but Spanish and Japanese as well! There are also activities for the family, such as Trick or Treat night, the Harvest luncheon, and Pre-K graduation. My nephew is now in kindergarten elsewhere, but my niece is still there in Pre-K. We will all miss the Goddard "family" once she graduates! read more

Had my son here for less than a month. All the teachers in the infant room seemed overworked and uninterested in their job. As an infant its understandable that children will get sick while in daycare. Unfortunately he ended up with what seemed to be a common communicable disease seen in child care centers, then a week after he returned there was another outbreak of something so I decided to let the school know that I would be withdrawing him from the center. The owner let me know that if he left he wouldn't be able to come back. He was more worried about enrollment than my sons actual well being, while I was thinking to my self well NO KIDDING I don't think I would want him to return, catch a clue sir. My son ended up being cared for by another daycare owner for years and I had no other issues. read more

My wife and I were weary of sending our barely one year old daughter to any school and putting her in the care and trust of strangers. After a year and a half, I can honestly say that we couldn't be happier with our decision to utilize the services of The Goddard School in Akron! Being an only child, our daughter's ability to interact with other children, as well as adults, has improved leaps and bounds. She looks forward to going to school to see her friends and teachers, and always comes home in a great mood. The commitment to instruction and a lesson plan are top notch and leave you confident that you are not just leaving your child with a "babysitter" but, with an educator. My wife and I comfortably go to work knowing that our child is being "cared for" rather than "tolerated". Everyday she comes home having learned something new and proud to display her latest achievement. I would highly recommend The Goddard School to anyone willing to listen. Our kid LOVES daycare. To the point where even if I was able to take him out of daycare, I don't think I could do it. I would feel I'm doing him a disservice! The teachers in the two Infant classrooms are fantastic. I have heard all sorts of horror stories from other daycare centers, and was so glad to have found one that really strives for quality. The odd time an empty food container isn't sent home or the wrong crib sheet is put into my kid's bag is irrelevant. I know my child is being taken care of, and the teachers there really love him. And I love seeing him progress with things like sign language or the noises he makes, and knowing they are helping him developmentally as well. Goddard also uses an app that allows you to get updates during the day, pictures sent to you throughout the day, and for you to send the center messages if you forgot to tell a teacher something at drop-off. Other daycare centers in the area use paper/pencil for daily reports, and provide much less information. And the pictures really help me get through my work day sometimes! read more

I really cannot speak more highly about Goddard School. Specifically this location. My daughter started in their toddler program back in February of this year. In just four months she has learned more than I or any other program could have taught her. And now she will be transitioning into her next class. The first few weeks were difficult, but her teachers were so helpful in getting her adjusted. Miss Lisa and Kari's do a wonderful job of keeping you informed on what's happening in the school. They give you plenty of notice for special events or special projects. The kids get to do so much! In a weeks time my little girl learned about Astronauts, Sports, and next week they will be tye dying. Their curriculum is top notch.She has so much fun! As much as this is a wonderful location for the children, the parents are also welcomed with open arms. The owner, Marty and Lisa and Karis welcome every single parent in the morning by name. How they remember everyone's name is beyond me, but they do! We chose this location carefully, for me it is right across the street from where I work. But it is also right off the highway, so really a great location for anyone in the area. Prices are comparable to other daycares in the area. Because they are more focused on teaching the children vs. playtime, I felt my money goes to better use. :) I would highly recommend checking out this daycare. Goddard has done a lot to drive excellence with their programs. We are extremely impressed with the curriculum and focus on education. It was very clear - when our 2-year old came home one day counting to ten in spanish - that Goddard was doing an excellent job of getting the children excited about learning. Additionally, the staff is extremely friendly. Everyone gets to know us as parents personally, as well as the individual nuances and likes/dislikes of our children. We did have some concerns about teacher turnover a few years back, but fast-forward a few years and it's clear that Goddard was simply doing everything in their power to ensure only high-quality teachers are taking card of our kids. Highly recommended to anyone in the Akron/Copley area! It may be slightly more expensive than some of the other "cheaper" alternatives, but you get what you pay for (and as it relates to our kids, we're not looking for schools that cut corners or hire low-quality teachers just to save a few bucks on tuition.) read more

Since attending Goddard my daughter has flourished in so many ways.. the activities and curriculum they provide is impressive. I have been extremely happy with staff who is very family oriented they truly care and love the kids they care for. It is very evident when I am there and not there because I see how my daughter reacts when she is around them. I know my daughter is learning something new everyday and really enjoying herself and for me and my husband that is priceless and peace of mind for us both. I will continue and have recommended Goddard to other family and friends. The staff is professional and friendly, they provide a clean, safe and MOST important-- FUN environment for my daughter. The owner of this establishment is a horrible person. While dropping my son off at the school one morning, one of the teachers was also dropping off her children. I pulled into the spot right next to her, parked in the lines, not over, on, or touching them, and proceeded to get my 8mo old son out of the vehicle. She didn't like that I parked next to her and started to adjust her car, backing it up. As she was doing so, her car pushed my rear passenger car door shut on my son while he was in the carseat, pinning him in between the car door and car frame. Meanwhile, I am screaming stop at her at the top of my lungs, while she just keeps on going. Finally she stops, continues to glare at me, pulls forward, and then starts adjusting her vehicle again! She proceeded to glare at me upon entering the school and then again while exiting as I explained what happened to a director. Afterwards I sent an email detailing the accounts to the owner, asking for action to be taken as she was neither remorseful, nor did she apologize. Instead of handling the situation like a professional and owning the situation, the owner of the school proceeded to call the entire thing a misunderstanding, and told me that I should have used caution. On multiple points in multiple emails he tried to downplay the situation and project his employee's lack of safety and care on me. All I wanted was an apology from the woman who started crushing my infant child between thousands of pounds of steal. If you value your children's care and safety, please do not bring them here. The owner is known for mistreating his employees, charging families unfairly, and bribing people for good reviews. His mismanagement can be seen through stressed out employees and an ever revolving door of teachers. read more

With a name like Goddard you'd expect top notch care - we got that for about 2-3 months until they started going through employees like tissues. (started with our infant at 3 months old) Now we have to double check constantly that all items are noted for food/diaper/nap/etc. And the director doesn't give two hoots - he's made comments that "I can fill your kid's spot tomorrow". You'll definitely get the sales pitch, but little follow through. I feel bad for the staff because there are some awesome people there, but without enough support behind them, it's not going far... (Cost is $1015 monthly for full time care - no meals/snacks provided - at least in infant rooms) read more

Our daughter started at Goddard at 12 weeks in the infant room. She will be turning three later this month and we just had our second daughter who will start at Goddard in January. Our girls are the most important people in our lives and we do not take their care lightly. Since starting our family at Goddard three years ago, we have had an incredible experience. As working parents, it's true that no one can care for your children like we can but Goddard is a close second. While no daycare or school is perfect, we have found our time at Goddard to be fantastic. The teachers have become like family and our daughter has made friends that she sees very often outside of school. Goddard is a community, not just a daycare or preschool. The teachers genuinely care about the children and have been so involved and engaging in helping to teach our little one. My wife and I look to the teachers as partners in our adventure of raising our daughters and while leaving our girls with other caregivers during the day is challenging, knowing they are with teachers who truly love them makes it so much easier. read more
