So, I asked my mom where can I get him Red Wings or Thorogood's around here and she said we need to go to Montano's in Saugerties, so off we went. Montano's has been around since 1906, wow that is long time! They provide professional fitting services, Pedorthic care, and specialized inventory targeted to foot health support. Montano's has a variety of high-quality work-boot brands including Red Wing, Chippewa, Thorogood, Danner, Irish Setter, and Timberland. They have a variety of athletic and hiking footwear brands such as Merrell, Keen, Hoka, On Running, and Salomon. There is a selection catered to casual and comfort as well; brands include Dansko, Birkenstock, Blundstone, UGG, and Vionic. Fair warning, it's not cheap to shop here. You are buying pretty much the best-of-the-best with a professional service. Some of these work boots are easily $200+ and the specialty insoles are running $65+ so keep that in mind when shopping. I was able to kill two birds with one stone by buying my stepdad his birthday present and my mom a new pair of shoes for Mother's Day. It wasn't cheap but they are worth it, plus I don't get to see them as much as I would like. The Red Wings he chose were $200, the specialty insoles cost $65 and Mom's shoes were $120. All the items are of high quality and should last them until my next visit, lol. Staff were very friendly and helpful. From the moment we walked in we were treated with respect and one of the associates accommodated both my family members with all of their fitting needs. I just purchased a new pair of Keens recently for work but I was really interested in trying out a pair of Thorogood's. The problem is if I tried them on, I probably would have bought them. I just don't need another pair now but the selection here seems like an excellent choice for a future work boot. I might be back next year once I ware my Keens out. All-in-all, Montano's Shoe Store is an excellent spot to find great service and high-quality footwear for any occasion. I highly recommend visiting them if you in Saugerties shopping.

I was very disappointed shopping in your store today, and I really have to share it so that maybe…read moreyou can make adjustments in your customer service. We always try to buy local instead of going online and made the half-hour trip hoping to give you our business. My boyfriend came across a shoe he liked, and we were confused because there were no US sizes listed on the boxes, nor a conversion chart anywhere nearby. I saw that the one staff person on the sales floor was with another customer, so I waited until she put on a video for him and while he was watching it, I asked if she could tell me what a US size 12 would be in the European size. She cut me right off and said I can't help you until I am finished with this customer (who was watching a video). I thought, surely she doesn't understand that I just need to know a size so we can find the shoe ourselves. So I politely said, we just need to know the US sizes -- it was barely out of my mouth when she once again curtly admonished me to wait until she was finished with this customer. I was rattled because I realized she couldn't possibly have even listened to me -- no one would ever make a customer wait indefinitely for such simple information. But I wasn't about to ask a third time. We ended up Googling the answer while standing just 5 feet away from her. Later we saw a chart 3 aisles away she could have directed us to. But most of all, we felt humiliated. We really felt we were so unimportant that a customer watching a video was more deserving of assistance than we were. So I did something I hate doing -- I took a picture of the info on the shoe box and we ordered the product online right there in the store in both colors -- about a $400 sale. I had also wanted to buy sneakers for myself, but we decided to go to Famous Footwear in Lee, where we usually go and receive really good customer care. I spent another $200+ there with an excellent salesperson -- who was also alone on the floor dealing with more than one customer. But she was well trained, kind, and a good listener, and I told her so. To wrap up my rant, here is what I most want to share with you: In a world where brick and mortar stores need to compete with online vendors, treating each customer with respect is a must. It's your very lifeblood because it is what differentiates you from the online marketplace. Think about it -- every person who enters your store made an effort to be there, isn't it the least you can do to SEE them and LISTEN to them? Today, the decision to not do that cost your business $600. That may not be a lot of money to you, but at this point, I feel you also lost all of my future business.

They carry brands of good-for-your-feet shoes that you can't get anywhere else. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable about what shoes work best for what activities, what shoes will fit what type of feet best and what each of the shoes they carry is made of, etc. They'll even tell you where they're manufactured. They will work with you for however long it takes to find you the right pair of shoes and then tell you how to properly care for them. They also guarantee their shoes (I think it is a one year guarantee). Who does THAT anymore? I've spent so much time and money shopping in shoe stores where no one helps you and you take a stab in the dark as to which shoes are going to work best for you. Pegasus saves you from that. While their shoes may seem pricey to some, they're never a bad value.

Eagle Shoe & Boot saved my shoes!…read more Since I am in Great Barrington for a little while, I'm doing my best to patronize the businesses here, but have been frustrated at the lack of great service (so far, both dry cleaners in town have completely screwed me over), so when I ruined one of my shoes, I figured I would have to toss the pair, or take them home to Boston to get repaired there. However, figuring I would give a local merchant ONE LAST TRY, I went into Eagle Shoe and handed over my sad shoe, and the nice guy (who I think is the owner) said it would be no problem and I could pick it up the next day. My shoe was repaired for just $8, no tossing of an expensive pair needed, and my faith in humanity has been restored.
