The Small Ben: Fish and Chips with lemon and tarter sauce. Side of coleslaw!
    Michael D.

The fish and chips were so good. It hit the spot for what I was craving. The lightly battered fish was so flaky and crunchy. With the squeeze of the lemon and the tarter sauce, it took it to a whole new level. I ordered the chips well done to add an extra little crunch. Paired with a little salt and vinegar, these crispy yet fluffy chips were delish! I also ordered a side of the coleslaw. It was super creamy! The atmosphere was like walking into a little pub. Super clean and very well decorated. I was greeted upon entry and the server was great! I can't wait to go back and try something else.

Definitely a spot worth checking out. They would have gotten 5 stars, but they didn't have the beef and onion pie I was excited to try. So ended up with fish and chips, my wife had the bangers and mash. Having been to London before, I will say they were both spot on. I'll have to come back for the beef and onion pie.

Fish n chips were suprisingly good, crispy and fresh for a Local restaurant in Davenport. We also had their crab cake, american dream burger and bangers and mash. We dont have complains about what we orders. We did like everything. The only prob is we didnt get an itemize receipt of our order and when we asked for the bill, it only showed us the total and when we got the receipt, it didn't show as well the items and prices which is weird.

The ambience was cool. A little bit of Britain's decor with entertainers pictured all over the walls. There was music playing but it was barely loud enough to sing along with. The booths had little flat screen TV's playing videos of 80's music nostalgia. I thought that was GREAT! I had the fish & chips served with a lemon wedge. I expected to be the local favorite as its a staple of British foods. The cod I had was a bit greasy and of course there was more batter than fish, so it seems just a bit undercooked but digestible. The greasiness too away from the fish taste so I dipped my pieces into tarter sauce to make up for what was lacking. The fries could have been cooked a bit longer, although they appeared to be fresh cut fries making a determination of all the different dimensions and sizes, so some were crispier than others (my preference is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside). This was my second attempt to try them and I'm sad to say it was the same experience the first time however I had the dish togo and ate at home. Needless to say, I won't be returning for the fish & chips. One unexpected excitement was they only take card or digital payments. No cash. Very interesting and modern.

Fun atmosphere and the food was delicious! They had a very good Elvis impersonator that we enjoyed listening to.

Food is over priced. Atmosphere is small and confining. Portions were ok. Service was not the best. We will not go back.

Before you've even reached the front door, you get the sense that someone here really cares about getting the details right. A vintage double-decker bus sits outside, purely decorative for now, though one can't help but imagine how wonderful it would be if it were eventually converted into a unique dining space. Alongside it, a cornhole setup offers a nod to the pub's adopted American surroundings, while a classic police box stands sentry by the entrance, charmingly repurposed as a Little Library for the local community. It's a warm, playful, and surprisingly thoughtful introduction to what awaits inside. And stepping inside is where it really clicks. The interior is exactly what you'd hope for from a classic British pub... the kind of space that feels lived-in and welcoming, where the decor tells a story without trying too hard. Dark wood, familiar touches, and the general sense that this is a place built for lingering over a pint and good conversation. But what elevates the experience beyond mere aesthetics is the authenticity of the people behind it. The owner greeted me at the door with a genuine British accent, warm and unhurried, and took the time to make me feel at home. As it turns out, the entire staff hails from England. That kind of authenticity is genuinely rare in a themed restaurant or pub setting, and it makes all the difference. This isn't a British pub concept, it's simply a British pub that happens to be in Florida. I visited at lunchtime on a gorgeous day and, at the owner's suggestion, settled in at one of the outdoor tables. The al fresco seating area is a lovely spot, and with the double-decker bus and the general charm of the exterior surroundings, it's easy to forget for a moment that you're sitting along a Florida highway. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried, which felt entirely in keeping with the pub's spirit. For the meal, I went straight for the fish and chips. It is the obvious and unavoidable litmus test for any self-respecting British pub. I skipped the mushy peas, a decision I made without much deliberation, though in hindsight I'm glad I did... not because they wouldn't have been good, but because of what arrived on the plate without them. This was a serious portion. A beautifully deep-fried, generously sized piece of fish dominated the plate, accompanied by a mountain of chips that would have challenged even a hungry pair of diners. It's the kind of meal that arrives at the table and prompts a moment of genuine surprise, followed quickly by the quiet resolution that you are going to give this your very best effort. The fish itself was the star of the show, and it earned that billing. The batter was golden, crisp, and well-seasoned, encasing a piece of fish that was moist and flavorful throughout. It's the sort of fish and chips that reminds you why the dish became iconic in the first place... simple, satisfying, and done with obvious care. The chips were solid too, holding their own through much of the meal with a decent texture and good flavor. Toward the end, they softened somewhat, though by that point I was so thoroughly and happily stuffed that it was difficult to hold it against them. Whether the sogginess was a result of the Florida heat, the considerable time it took to work through such a generous serving, or simply the nature of the dish is genuinely hard to say. It felt like a minor footnote rather than a real criticism. If there's one practical takeaway from the experience, it's this: don't go in alone and hungry with heroic intentions. The portion size is generous to a fault, and the smart play is either to share the meal with a companion or to embrace the doggy-bag without shame. Either way, you won't leave hungry... not even close. Best of British Pub is a genuine and welcome find for the Clermont area. It has the feel of a place that was built with real love for what it is, staffed by people who know exactly what a proper British pub should be, and serving food that delivers on the promise of the setting. If you find yourself anywhere near the US 27 and US 192 junction, it's well worth pulling in. I'll certainly be back.

AFTERNOON LUNCH DATE WITH THE WIFEY!!!…read more We stopped into the proper pie to grab lunch and here is the short of it. The pies are all frozen and take 20+ mins for them to cook it for you. If you have time the pies are very good. The only reason for the 4 stars is the time we spent waiting for the pies to cook felt like forever and the place was completely empty. I know these take time to cook, but just sitting there waiting felt like forever. I think buying and taking home to cook may be the way to go for these pies if you don't have the time. Pricing was a bit much in comparison to grocery store pies, but the filling sets Proper Pie apart from those in the freezer section. We got a beef and a chicken both were tasty. For us, Proper Pie is a once in a while or grab and take home to bake place, but when we want a meat pie this is the place to go!!! They also have an array of British food selections available. AS ALWAYS TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!!!
