While on our last visit to Orlando, we headed to Sunday's Grill. Wonderful service promptly greeted and seated us. Clean, well-kept space and atmosphere well...here it's truly what one expects with British pub fare. The menu is a mixture of British and comforting Indian dishes. [IYKYK] It's wonderful that you can enjoy a plate of bangers & mash, mushy peas, beans, and have some curry sauce and chips. Fish & chips are 10/10 top tier. Honestly, it's one of those local comforting eateries that I will be dining at frequently, whatever time of day. Shoutout to Jay for the hospitality who made our experience 10fold better. A great 'hole in the wall' find on our first night in Orlando for our annual golf trip. Sierra, our server was very pleasant & extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Not sure if this was just an "off" night. It felt like none of the staff wanted to be there. Could not understand the bartender as she spoke too fast and walked away. The waitress was average. We wanted the steak and onion pie - which is supposedly one of their claims to fame- but was told the chef only makes it when he "feels" like it and he has been too busy. We were there around 6 PM on a Monday night and were the only people in the place, Ended up with bangers and mash which were good and the chicken shish kabob was okay. The tzatziki was mostly sour cream and very little flavor. The selection for music was a old tribute to a Canadian composer David Foster - which I guess is British. The fish and chips were so good. It hit the spot for what I was craving. The lightly battered fish was so flaky and crunchy. With the squeeze of the lemon and the tarter sauce, it took it to a whole new level. I ordered the chips well done to add an extra little crunch. Paired with a little salt and vinegar, these crispy yet fluffy chips were delish! I also ordered a side of the coleslaw. It was super creamy! The atmosphere was like walking into a little pub. Passed this place many times and read some of the reviews and decided to give it a try.... wished I hadn't. Not sure what other people think fish and chips should be like for $30 but a frozen bit of nondescript fish that had no taste and was mushy and 'weird' should have been enough of a warning. Chips had a reheated vibe about them and the fact it all came out in less than five minutes tells me that putting all this together took very little prep. Then the mushy peas... two tablespoons at the most in a paper cup. Other half tried to order the shepherds pie but was told could only do it with beef not lamb... so you advertise shepherds pie but serve cottage pie? On top of this the place was grubby and had only one girl trying to cover the whole place (who was clearly stressed as we could hear her arguing in the back with the 'chef'). Out front kids sat at tables while other loud patrons sat at the bar swearing - not a great atmosphere to dine in. Might be British owned but we were the only Brit's in there and maybe that's the problem? Then some hours later came the food poisoning. A catastrophic event reminiscent of scenes from train spotting. Needless to say I will never be back! read more

Here's the details: 1) the cups were grimy I cleaned it with a napkin and dirt came off 2) the fish had crunchy batter but slimy inside. 3) curry was not flavorful. Rice did not have taste. 4) Publix chicken tenders are way better than these tenders. 5) the kebab was the best thing we had but it was like a 5/10. It just had one shaved piece of lamb in the shape of like a piece of deli ham in the pita. I've never seen this. 6) the fries or "chips" were soft. Not crispy. First impression was a bit overpowering with all of the neon lights outside and so much to look at indoors. But our server (assume also the owner because of her English accent) made everything welcoming and at home. My family had Bangers and Mash, The Small Ben, and burgers. It was all wonderful!!! What a fun find!! We were looking for lunch and drove by this strip mall with a Publix in it. We figured we'd drive through and see if there was anything worth checking out. This place is small, dark windows but the neon signs made it clear they were open. It's dark inside (English Pub style) and simple, casual. They were playing amazing music from a show on the television. There are a few booths with their own tvs for your own viewing of your choice. They claimed to have the best fish & chips on Trip Advisor so I gave that a shot. Most times I find places claim this, they're too greasy. Not here! I can honestly say this was the best fish & chips! The fish was cooked perfectly, just the right batter and not greasy at all. My husband got the chicken kebab. Also good. I asked for more tartar sauce and got it right away. The waitress/bartender was attentive and friendly. Beers were cold and refreshing. I got Speckled Hen English Pale Ale, husband had Bud Light draft. We dont have complains about what we orders. We did like everything. The only prob is we didnt get an itemize receipt of our order and when we asked for the bill, it only showed us the total and when we got the receipt, it didn't show as well the items and prices which is weird. read more

The fish and chips was the smaller size they offer but was still a very large portion. The fish was flaky and perfectly cooked with a crisp but tender batter that wasn't greasy. The chips were the way I ate them in England, a little in the darker side to get the really good flavor. The mushy peas were delicious but a very tiny portion for $3. I didn't care for the curry sauce it was all heat and no flavor. The crab cakes were so-so, my husband was t a fan. As far as fish and chips go, these were the best I've had in this area. read more

I want to start off this review with an apology. I have lived within walking distance for about three years and only recently ventured inside. OMG have I been missing out; I am so sorry, Sunday's!! Adorably cozy, friendly service, but most importantly their fish and chips are crazy good!! They have drink specials until 7pm, but their house wine list is pretty decent and reasonably priced. I happened to bring my family one Monday night and we participated in their "Quiz Night" and had so much fun!! We won coupons for two small fish and chips, and I can't wait to go back. Sundays Grill in Davenport We walked in to this eye-catching restaurant and immediately loved it. I'm not a drinker but I'll say that old Speckled hen was good. Love, just love short to the point menus. The Quality fish and chip is not a line they must live by it, someone loves what they do here. Absolutely loved the Fish and Chips. Those fresh fries are good. I'm a big fan of crispy fries but they were really good. Slaw surprise, straight up some of the best tasting slaw I've had in quite some time. The entire table agreed with the slaw. Doner Kebab is that lamb & beef in a pita my buddy said yum yummy. Not pictured but the Sheperd's pie was eaten up quickly. My wife was stingy on that American Dream Burger she didn't even share a bite today. It looked perfectly cooked and also came with those fresh cut fries. She got all my favorite ones with the skins on them still. Everyone tried the fish and Everyone gave it two thumbs up. These meals were so good I decided to get the curry chicken to go. Eating that right now as I type and I'm thinking when can I go back here to eat. The chef / (owner I believe) is a great guy he was out front when we came in and we had a chance to speak with him just to pick up on what was ordered most. We did not expect such a special and wonderful place tucked away at the end of a strip mall in the middle of Florida. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff is very kind and accommodating. Food is definitely British with a bit of a twist. The fish and chips is huge portions of flakey cod in a crisp authentic batter, over a mountain of chips. I had the chicken curry, but swapped out the rice for a place of hand cut chips, and dumped the delicious curry all over them when it came. I think there may be a new menu item coming soon. You must try this. Absolutely delicious. Ambiance was great. We got there on karaoke night, fun stuff. Place is busy food is great, prices are very reasonable and staff is wonderful. Fun little pub style restaurant with a great fish and fries meal for lunch. We all five had the same meal and loved the fish. Our server was very friendly and the manager checked on us during our visit as well. The ambience was cool. A little bit of Britain's decor with entertainers pictured all over the walls. There was music playing but it was barely loud enough to sing along with. The booths had little flat screen TV's playing videos of 80's music nostalgia. I thought that was GREAT! I had the fish & chips served with a lemon wedge. I expected to be the local favorite as its a staple of British foods. The cod I had was a bit greasy and of course there was more batter than fish, so it seems just a bit undercooked but digestible. The greasiness too away from the fish taste so I dipped my pieces into tarter sauce to make up for what was lacking. The fries could have been cooked a bit longer, although they appeared to be fresh cut fries making a determination of all the different dimensions and sizes, so some were crispier than others (my preference is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside). This was my second attempt to try them and I'm sad to say it was the same experience the first time however I had the dish togo and ate at home. Needless to say, I won't be returning for the fish & chips. One unexpected excitement was they only take card or digital payments. No cash. Very interesting and modern. read more

I have been searching for the perfect fish and chips and this Saturday at Sunday's...I found it! My husband found some delicious buffalo wings and we shared a salad. Everything was well cooked, well seasoned and fresh but my favorite part... affordable! Our server was so kind, efficient and even stopped to talk to us for a few moments which is almost unheard of in this day and age! We will definitely make this one of our regular treats! We found this little gem beside a Publix. It is tiny but packed with cute memorablia from Britain. It was nice to see a Canadian flag flying too. (We are Canadians) The waitress was so friendly and answered all our questions. Service was quick. Food was piping hot which is how we like it! We ordered the Little Ben fish and chips that was not so little! We took home a bunch of the fries. The batter was light and crisp. The haddock was so tasty! At home we generally get halibut but can't seem to find it anywhere down here.There is a chalkboard with happenings for the week ranging from trivia, music and special events. Located next door to publix and my favorite a liquor store. Walking in makes you feel like your in a local pub across the pond. Friendly and very interesting, you can tell they must have been a local staple for many years. Staff very friendly as well. We ordered the small Ben which hate to see the Big Ben as there was a lot of fish and chips. Word it's big enough to share and if you get there before 530 its 2 bucks off. Now the bad followed by good. Chips seemed as if they had been reheated as every other was hard and crunchy. Fresh cut potatoes which is good and large. Fish bit on the mushy side but flavorful to say at least. About the same extra oil as other places in the area. Not bad about 7 out of 10. I lived in the UK for 8 years and can tell you it's like trying to find a great cheese burger here in the US, it's hit or miss and from time to time you find an amazing cheese burger. Came here for the first time for a late night meal and a drink. Sat at the bar with my boyfriend and we were immediately welcomed by the owner. He was very courteous and helpful when explaining the menu and offered suggestions. I enjoyed a tasty glass of Malbec and my boyfriend had a house Chardonnay (was actually good for cheap wine) I decided to go with the fish and chips (cod) Instead of the chips, got mashed peas which the owner informed me was a staple side in England. My boyfriend got some sort of lamb gyro but I don't think that's what they called it. He used to get them when he lived in Germany and that's why he was really excited to try this place out. He was not disappointed and I enjoyed my meal as well. We also ordered crab cakes (not like traditional, but still good) We enjoyed our conversation with the owner and other guests at the bar.
