I had limited time so I ordered to go. The staff were extremely friendly, super helpful to explain the menu since it was my first time. And the food came pretty quickly. One of the things that I noticed that was different it was package. Typical locations just put the items within the to go container. Kitanda staff took it a step further and put it in a bag inside the container for extra protection. I didn't drop it but I was thinking if for whatever reason I would've done so, my food inside will still be edible. The place is simple but welcoming. I can't wait to try other items on the menu!

Would never have thought of combining the two, but it worked! Upon walking in there is a room where there were about 3-5 tattoo artists. Further inside the the coffee shop is the barista and sitting area which seemed very inviting and comfortable. I purchased chai latte, which was so amazing. I asked for a side of honey and the barista mentioned it was sweet and she wasn't lying, it was perfect. Definitely a place I could consider lounging around. There were not a lot of pastry options. The coolest was a box with cool stuff in it, which was a give and take situation. You usually see this for book arks but in this case it was a cool wall mounted case with a sooooo many cool things. I enjoy sitting at the counter with my kids and interacting with the friendly waitstaff while watching the hustle in the kitchen. So far we've tried their waffles, pancakes, fruit bowls, burger and fries. All are very good! Looking forward to branching out and eventually trying everything. Staff have been friendly and on top of things both times we've gone. I tried the chocolate chip pancake and added a side of scrambled eggs and bacon with it on my first order. Pancake is large enough to share or split between multiple meals. I thought the texture was good, the chocolate chips were a bit too sweet for my liking. The scrambled eggs were okay - maybe a little off cooking-wise but the bacon was crispy. Second time I did the all-American sandwich with eggs, bacon, and swapped out the American for cheddar cheese, with the biscuit as the sandwich. This was very good and the right amount of food. Prices were reasonable and timing for the food was good. They really try to get the food out quickly, which is great.

I again brought it to the staff's attention, telling them I was not interested in a refund but I was concerned about others who would suffer internal injury from consuming their food. I was told I couldn't get a refund. They offered a complimentary pastry but there was no genuine concern about the hazards of their product. Their lack of concern dissuaded me from consuming any more of their pastries. The lack of concern was shocking to me, and a reflection of the "who cares" attitude that exists in our society. I would have expected them to pull the product from their shelf to protect customers while they investigated the concerns. Nope! No more Vanessa's for me or anyone I know. If they aren't concerned about their product, I will warn everyone I know to avoid this establishment. Sorry I didn't take pics of the fragments before throwing away...just be careful.

We started with the clam chowder, which was served in a mug and was very good. For our entrees, we had the lobster roll and the Frank & Beans. The lobster roll was the perfect size, served with a bag of Cape Cod chips, and the lobster was fresh and not overly creamy. The Frank & Beans came with three large hot dogs, baked beans, and two pieces of brown bread. The hot dogs were cooked just the way I requested, although the baked beans were a bit underwhelming. That said, the portion size was generous and the entree prices were very reasonable. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely recommend Town Tavern to anyone looking for a casual waterfront meal with a fun Boston-themed atmosphere.
