I walked into Slim Chickens with dangerous levels of optimism. Big mistake. Before going, I watched a video on their website where the founders were talking about how, when they came up with the concept, they noticed other chicken tender places in the South "weren't doing it right." Now, they didn't say Raising Cane's by name, but come on. We all know who they were side eyeing. And as lifelong Cane's lovers, that got my attention. Because if you're going to throw shade at Cane's, the food better come out swinging. It did not! It came out dry, bland, and exhausted, with a texture that somehow managed to be overcooked and underwhelming at the exact same time. I didn't know you could ruin a chicken tender. I thought chicken tenders were one of those foods with a built-in safety net. Apparently not. Slim Chickens found the trap door. Then came the sauces. I asked the cashier what sauces he recommended since it was our first time. His response was basically, "I don't really like the sauces." That should have been my cue to turn around and go find literally anything else to eat. I tried the Slim's Sauce, which he described as ketchup and mayo with some herbs. That description was unfortunately accurate. It tasted like someone tried to reverse-engineer a good chicken sauce from memory while trapped in a break room. It was flat, boring, and nowhere near the level of Cane's sauce or even KFC's sauces. The garlic toast was another crime scene. Thin, wrinkled, cold Texas toast that looked like it had been toasted earlier that morning and then left to think about its choices. Calling it "garlic bread" feels generous. Calling it "bread" was already a stretch. The fries were those fake "hand-cut" freezer-section fries with the skin left on, like they're trying to convince you somebody in the kitchen actually touched an actual potato that morning. They were hard, overcooked, and tasted like they had been holding on for dear life under a heat lamp since opening. Not rustic. Not fresh. Just sad fries wearing a costume. And the atmosphere? Weekday lunch in Celebration, and there were maybe two people eating inside. That should have told me everything. A chicken tender place at lunch should have some life to it. This felt like a franchise location already rehearsing its goodbye speech. The funniest part is Yelp has this place sitting around 4 stars, but when you actually scroll through the reviews, there's a suspicious little cluster of glowing 5-star posts from "Elite" Yelpers around the same time. Maybe they all just happened to have the best chicken experience of their lives in the same week. Maybe.... All I know is what we were served was nowhere close to 5 stars. It was barely close to lunch. If the founders really built this concept because they thought other chicken places were "doing it wrong," I have some bad news: Raising Cane's can sleep peacefully tonight. KFC too. Slim Chickens didn't reinvent chicken tenders. They reminded me how badly simple food can go when nobody in the building seems excited about it. With Cane's expanding all over the place, this location better figure something out fast. Because if this is the product, I don't see Celebration celebrating it for long. I'm giving two stars, and honestly, those stars goes to the cashier for telling me he doesn't really like the sauces. That was the most helpful and accurate thing served to me all day. read more

Ordered dinner here for my family. My friend that lives down south is always raving about Slim Chickens so we had to try it out. We ordered the picnic pack for us all to share. This comes with 16 tenders, two sides, Texas toast and 6 sauces. For the sides we got Mac and cheese and fries. My husband went and picked up the order and it was hot and ready right away. Everyone enjoyed their food. It reminded me of Raising Canes. We loved getting to try the different sauces. The cayenne ranch and the slims sauce were my favs. I thought the picnic pack was a really good deal at $39.99. My family of 2 adults and 3 kids couldn't even finish the whole thing. Chicken and waffles and a medium drink for under $9? Yes please! I've never been to Slim Chickens before but was in the area so decided to try it out recently. I really enjoyed my chicken and waffles and medium drink, and can't believe it was under $9 for both, especially with the prices for food nowadays at fast food restaurants. There were some really good sounding shakes also but I didn't get to try one on this trip, I'll just have to come back soon to give one a try! I had never been to this place but today I am happy I finally did! Thanks to their massive promo of a free Leanne's meal I came in and claimed the freebie. I was really impressed with everything: this brand new area of celebration reflects also in this building: brand new, spacious, great design and very clean. All staff was very friendly. The meals came out fast! It was delicious! The fries were really good!! Crispy but soft on the inside. The chicken tenders were so good probably the best I ever had. They had lots of meat and a thin crispy and tasty crust. It came with a delicious sweet and spicy cayenne ranch dip. Oh this place is cute! I was actually in the area to pick up food from a different restaurant and Slim Chickens caught my eye. Thankfully the drive through was empty so I had time to swing by. I ordered the Big Dill with fries and a sweet tea. The fries were a little undercooked but not cold or too bad. The sandwich was delicious. It comes topped with fried pickles and a yummy pickle aoli. Ironically, despite it being a chain here in the US, I've only been to Slim Chickens in the UK, where it is one of my favourite fast food options so I was very excited to try it out stateside. To put it shortly, I was not disappointed! This location was a little smaller than ones I'd been to before but still a good size and a nice atmosphere inside. I'll break down the different elements to help any newcomers to the chain. The chicken was tasty and tender and was high quality and nice meat, I opted for the 3 piece tender but definitely would get the 5 next time as they were a little small. The fries were certainly the star of the show and some of the best we've had. They had the perfect amount of crunch and seasoning, paired with the fact it was skin on fries which I always enjoy. The portion size was great. The Texas toast, included with the tender combo was the perfect amount of garlic and a good size, with two pieces it was a nice addition to my basket. There is a range of sauces available, I opted for two different options to get a feeling for how this Slim character made his dipping sauces. I picked Honey BBQ and Garlic Parmesam. Honey BBQ was exactly what we think of when we think of this sauce, it was tasty and tasty and sweet, the standard HBBQ taste, which is always a winner. When it comes to the garlic parm, it was a very tasty sauce but I am more used to this style of sauce being more of a mayo consistency, whereas this was more akin to a garlic butter, a lot thinner than I expected, but the taste was great. The Mac and cheese was something that I, as someone from Europe, was happy to see was white and not orange, it's the standard colour for M&C at home and I'm still surprised to see highlighter orange on my noodles. It was tasty, but the fries certainly outshone the Mac, but that was more about them than any flaw with the noodles. The cookie dough brownie jar was definitely something we were interested in so we gave it a shot, the pieces were delicious but the base of the dessert was a bit too much whipped cream for our liking, if it was ice cream it would have been pefect. The shake is something I'll opt for everytime over my regular drink because it was nothing short of sensational! The price on the menu is $3.99 and it was a couple of bucks to upgrade my drink from my combo. I picked the Salted Caramel Cookie Dough, a limited time flavour that needs to be a permanent resident, because it combined my two favourite options in a shake together, SC and Cookie Dough!! I stopped by on a Sunday around 4/5PM. The place was empty when we walked in. Four people trickled in after we arrived. The women who took out order greeted us and was kind. The restaurant was clean inside. I got the 4 piece tender meal. It came with 4 tenders of course, fries, a slice of buttered toast, and fountain drink. I had a choice of one sauce, I chose ranch. The cost was around $11. Kevin got the chicken Cesar wrap. Just the wrap not the meal, the cost was $7. I liked the tenders, they were perfectly battered and juicy. The fries were crispy, hot, under seasoned. The toast was soft and not toasty, but buttery. Kevin's wrap did not have enough chicken in it. The lettuce to chicken ratio was off. Finally got to check out Slim Chickens and I must say I am a fan. I was in the area and wanted to grab lunch some lunch for my wife and me. Having never been here, I figured it would be best to go inside to check the place out and to give the menu a full look over. I think the person working the counter was named Javier, at least that is what I remember the receipt saying. He was so helpful with recommendations and very patient, while I figured out what I wanted. For my wife, I ordered the Buffalo Tender MAC BOWL meal. I went with the 3 & 3 meal, which is 3 tenders and 3 wings. I appreciate the fact that they allow you to toss your tenders and wings in different sauces if you would like. Being a lover of sauces I went with Sweet Red Chili and Korean BBQ, both were excellent choices and I would for sure get them again. They also let you choose a dip for each, I went with the ranch. I also ordered some fried pickles. Everything was made fresh to order and only took maybe about 5 or so minutes to make. Once home we dove into the food. My wife loved her MAC BOWL, and thought it was a pretty good value. I enjoyed my tenders and wings and found the fries to be fine. The sauces the tenders and wings were tossed in had some great flavor, and the ranch was also very enjoyable. The fried pickles were also very good, with a great crisp. They go well with the ranch or the Slim Sauce, which is a tomato-based sauce. I think the only complaint was the combo of pickle juice/grease in the bottom of the container. At this point, we had already eaten the fried pickles, but it was a little off-putting. Perhaps the fried pickles should have rested more. Don't get me wrong they still tasted great. Oh, and how could I forget the peach tea!?!?! It was so good! It had a nice peach flavor, perfect sweetness, and a great brewed taste. I would recommend Slim Chickens. I've been to this location twice now and I'm very impressed. I have yet to go and eat inside so I'm not sure what the actual restaurant looks like however, going to the drive-through is different since they ask for your name first. They have a very extensive menu for a chicken place. I decided to stick with the original and get a four piece box meal which included fries four fingers, a sauce and two pieces of toast. I found it to be very good. I chose the signature, slim sauce and, found quite similar, but just a little different than chicken restaurants. The tenders had a great flavor, not too much breading and still juicy inside. The wings were large, crispy and the sauces were great. I even liked the fries. Not only is the chicken made to order but the employees are ready to offer great advice on tasty bites to try! I had the "5 & 5" meal at Slim Chickens in Celebration. It included 5 bone-in chicken wings, 5 chicken tenders, fries, and a drink, with two dipping sauces (out of 17 choices): I chose gravy and cayenne ranch, both of which were excellent. I was particularly thrilled to find gravy as a sauce option for chicken tenders, which is rare to come by. However, I substituted the drink for a chocolate milkshake, which turned out to be too sweet for my taste, almost as if it had an overload of chocolate syrup. The chicken wings and tenders were decently sized but lacked significant marination. While the tenders had a flavorful batter with a strong black pepper taste and a nice crunchy texture. The fries were good, and the atmosphere was clean, with each table stocked with paper towels and ketchup. The staff was friendly and helpful, but I encountered some difficulty at the drink station. Although it was clean, I found it hard to get clear water from the same spout used for Hi-C fruit punch. The tab to push for water was awkward, and the flow was sparse, making it challenging to use. Next time I come back, I'd like to try the chicken waffles and their cayenne ranch chicken sandwich that they are very known for. I also love that they have a Celebration cup! Visited Slim chicken after searching for salad options near my resort and needless to say they did not disappoint. Immediately upon entering you are greeted by employees and invited into a well curated and modern space. There's a plethora of chicken options to choose from with sides and the options to toss the chicken too. It reminds me of a hybrid cross of raising canes and chick-fil-a but much better. We had the 5X5 tenders and wings tossed in spicy bbq and honey bbq, a side salad, fried okra, and a pickle chicken sandwich tossed in buffalo sauce. Everything was amazing and fries are seasoned and tasty too. The sauces definitely compliment the food and my favorite dipping sauce was the cayenne ranch. My partner loved their sandwich and was extremely happy so much that he wanted to go back for dinner too. The okra was amazing too and I'm not an okra fan. I'd like to premise with I love spicy food so the spicy bbq sauce isn't really spicy but again I like spicy food. I'd also note the tenders are much better than the wings. Now let's get into the drinks. It's all self serve and there's options from fountain drinks, flavored teas, and lemonades and the teas and lemonades are stand alone options. I really enjoyed the peach tea and raspberry lemonade. I mixed them together for my own signature Arnold Palmer too. I will 100% be back and highly recommend this place.
