When I was little, I traveled to work with my mother during the summers. She worked in an office on 4th and Commerce across from what, at the time, was a condemned residential building. I watched all summer from my perch across the street as they leveled the old building and slowly built the Bass Hall. I so looked forward to these visits. Even 10-15 years ago, Sundance Square was a fun place to go. When I was in high school, it was totally the cool thing to do to go to Razoo's and then a movie at the AMC Palace. I have watched the whole Sundance Square area evolve and change with times, and I say this with the deepest sense of nostalgia. I never get tired of downtown Fort Worth. So, imagine my surprise when the area got yet another facelift. This time, Sundance Square is truly built for pedestrians. The fountains in front of the Flying Saucer building and the Longhorn mural are fascinating. Saturday was the first 65 degree evening of fall, and I couldn't tear myself away from Sundance. There were so many TCU students, lovers, children, tourists, foodies, residents, joggers, and even some sweet dogs. I got an iced coffee and gazed up at the clock tower which currently has a pumpkin as its clock-face. I didn't even notice that a full hour elapsed while I was people-watching. There are now tables and chairs everywhere. The best part of this story is that I grew up in Weatherford, not Fort Worth, so all those visits were special. And I always dreamed about someday living in Fort Worth and being a part of the peaceful and friendly pulse that makes Fort Worth so funky. Now, as a fully-grown-teacher-lady, I still feel so small when I walk around in absolute amazement of the city in which I finally reside. read more

I've lived in N. Fort Worth (Keller area) for a little over a year now, and seriously struggled with this area. As much as I loathe Fort Worth proper, Sundance Square is definitely a ray of sunshine. I've lived in a lot of big cities, and generally would reside (pre-kid) in a downtown, or near downtown area. With this being said, D/T Fort Worth, or Sundance Square is, by far, the most unique Downtown I've experienced in a city of 500K plus. How you ask ? {Sensing all of my fellow yelp pupils anxiously awaiting an answer} It's quite simple- Sundance Square is the quietest, almost tranquil, D/T I have ever visited. The bustling sounds of cars, trains, or even people are...well, non existent. Peaceful is how I would describe Sundance Square. Now, generally, this would mean boring; but, this is how Sundance Square is different. This area has most (not all) of everything other, larger D/T cities have to offer. For example: Sundance Square offers most of all the chain restaurants you'd find in a Chicago, or even L.A. You want to dine at Ruths Chris, Texas de Brazil, or even a Capital Grille. Yep, that's all here. You want a sports bar, wine bar, or martini bar. Yep, there's plenty of them. And non-chain restaurants are plentiful as well. Cleanliness. Sundance Square is spotless. Bums. Haven't seen a one of them. I have never had a bum ask me for change. Never. Strong bicycle Police presence is always a plus. While I'm always cautious, this area just feel safer than most D/T areas. Parking. Ah, what a joy coming from the city of Chicago. Free night and weekend parking. Yes, free! Even in some parking garages. Great restaurants, bars, decent hotels, clean, safER, and definitely quieter D/T area. What's not to like about Sundance Square? read more

When you're alone, and life is making you lonely you can always go...DOWNTOWN! I love a great evening at Sundance Square. Whether its family night, date night, or girls night out you can never go wrong by going to Sundance Square. Why Sundance Square is pure awesome-ness: Parking is free after 5pm and on weekends. Lots of bars to hang out at, if that's your thing. Lots of restaurants with GREAT food to choose from. The bass performance hall if you enjoy a good musical or symphony. Comedy clubs if you like a good laugh. Shopping boutiques. And in the heart of the square you will find an open area to sit and people watch while enjoying the fountain. read more

Maybe it is because I am from a small town, or maybe it is because I am crazy but I definitely do not understand any negative review of Sundance Square! It is VERY safe place, which is one of the top requests we had when choosing a honeymoon location within 2-3 hours of our hometown. You never feel unsafe and almost at every corner you see a patrolman or an officer on a bike. Even with the construction going on, you never feel "leery". The area has so many activities it was hard to do them all in 4 days (and I am sure we missed out on some things). I would definitely suggest going down Main st. and visiting Earth Bone. That was my favorite "touristy" store. Really funny stuff and a cool atmosphere. We stayed at the Embassy and everything was within walking distance. Reata's is top notch food and about two doors down is Paciugo, the BEST ice cream around! There are so many great shopping places that mix both an urban and stylish vibe with the beloved western/Texas style Ft. Worth is known for. Unlike the Stockyards, where I felt a little out of place since I don't participate in rodeos, etc., Sundance Square has wonderful places that can keep anyone entertained for days on end! read more

If I were to pick between downtown Dallas or downtown Fort Worth, I'd pick downtown FW over downtown Dallas. There are a ton of bars and restaurants here, and I just think it's cleaner and more welcoming than Dallas. read more

I love all the new renovations in the plaza! The water elements, the cute little tables and slight overhead coverings for weather really come together nicely. It can be fun to step outside of the Dallas bubble sometimes and venture over to Fort Worth. For me, it does not happen often but when I do I always head on down to Sundance Square! It has it all! If you're looking for lots of restaurants, bars, and clubs, Sundance Square is the place to be in Ft. Worth. Parking, however, can be a challenge. I was in the area for a conference and on the weekend, this place was busy. I saw a few weddings going on and it definitely is a great area for the after-reception party. If you want to get around one location to the next, but don't want to walk, they offer free "Molly the Trolly" rides. read more

Let me preference this by saying I agree with some of the other reviewers..... downtown Ft Worth is boring & lifeless with not much to see. However when it comes to concerts they do it right. It doesn't hurt downtown FW also offers a combination of free parking & restaurants within walking distance....this is Sundance Square. I've seen Boney James, Joe Sample, the SOS band and the late Waymon Tisdale twice & all the shows have been fantastic! SS provides a cool laidback vibe that I wish other Metroplex towns could duplicate at night, but for whateaver reason this hasn't happened especially in Downtown Dallas. That sucks! read more

I used to love going to Sundance Square.. until they started allowing those annoying and harassing pagan people yell with their megaphone right in your face! Threatening innocent bystanders asking what would happen if they were to die right now. You can go to the center where they aren't in your face, BUT since they all have megaphones you can still hear them and will have trouble talking and hearing the person next to you. Get rid of those guys please... It is hypocritical and ironic that these people are allowed to be there, but another certain religious group that doesn't get in your face when you walk by is not. Being a life-long resident of Fort Worth, I'm so very proud of our downtown area. It is so vibrant and inviting. Sundance Square is no exception especially during the Christmas season. It is so wonderful to stroll through the square, looking at all the Christmas decorations and Fort Worth's beautiful tree. The evening we were there it was crowed but you never felt crowded. I love Sundance Square especially when there is something going on there its just a wonderful atmosphere there. Last weekend was the first time I've been to The Main Street festival it was cold but great once you got full of beer and food that didn't matter. There were so many different art work, every artist was very creative to me it was nice I was shocked on some of the work I seen. You can't go wrong in Sundance Square! They have added a lot to the area to make it more appealing during the day and night. There are more restaurants today than there has been in the past ten years, everything from fine dining to pizzerias and sandwich shops. More retailers have joined the area, which makes it more fun during the day. The nightlife is awesome , too. As some have pointed out, parking is free and very safe. As a female I don't feel uncomfortable walking by myself after dark. You can catch live music at most bars or check out a few of the dance clubs as well. There are several theaters that showcase local and traveling talent. Bass Hall is a must to take visitors even just to the lobby. I absolutely love Sundance Square especially the Plaza my Wife and I go every weekend, there's always something going on down there. We catch dinner at all the different restaurants which keeps us busy there's so many to choose from, We might catch some Jazz at the Scat Jazz Lounge or some live music in the plaza im telling you, You never know with all the variety and choices that you have when you go Downtown overall I simply love the atmosphere, and very classy upscale ambiance. As far as downtown go, Sundance square is not a tiny intimate shopping experience like the Southlake one, but what it is, I like so much better. It has a brick main street. A tiny museum. Nice high end restaurants, barbecue joints, bars, hidden jazz clubs, shopping, usually expensive stuff, events on the square, live music, free valet parking with the use of any of their restaurants..including Risckys, art galleries, theater, comedy places, Starbucks, etc etc etc. And tons of stuff nearby. If I could offer a tip to anyone thinking about going down to Sundance Square it would be to find a map somewhere first. My hindsight gives this advice to all travelers and tourists because my son and I stumbled upon this little area and didn't think much of it at all. We saw about 3 square blocks of overly prices tourist shops and restaurants. The highlight of our 3 block tour was an open area next to Starbucks with some fountains in the center. Upon my return home I looked it up and apparently this area boasts 35 blocks of shops and restaurants, things to do and sights to see. A map probably would have proved very helpful to us because the area just seemed minute and tragic from our vantage point. (I can only rate based on our experience. Next time I'm in town I'll find a map, go back and re-rate). So take my review to heart or take it with a grain of salt. I just want to share what we saw. I will say that after I looked it up on-line I checked out the other reviews and it seems that we saw what most people are raving about which I have seen in every other city I have ever visited. In Connecticut we have the new Blue Back Square in West Hartford and the Evergreen Shops in South Windsor; it seems that Fort Worth has Sundance Square, albeit a bit older. We went on a Friday night at around 6pm. It was pretty sleepy. By 7:30 though things had picked up and the place had a good amount of people roaming the streets. We started by walking around to the restaurants to find one that we liked. We settled on Taverna and had a decent meal. We then grabbed a gelato and saw a show at the Scat Jazz Lounge. Sundace Square was a good place to spend a night on the town while in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The restaurants seem popular and there are plenty of entertainment options. The crowd is a bit older, but folks from all age groups were represented on a Friday night. There were, however, a few homeless folks begging on the corners which is common in large cities. read more

I am sad for lifeless Sundance Square. I do enjoy that they have theater options, but the after theater experience was lacking. It was a Sunday at 5pm and we were hungry after catching a show at Jubilee. We walked over to Qdoba--Closed. The place next door--Also closed. Corner Baker--closed. and as we walked around Sundance Square place after place continued to be closed. Now some places were open, but not in the mood for simply a side salad, the vegetarian in me was finding the food choices lacking. Waiting around between 5 and 8 for the Scat Lounge Show to Open we ended up sitting in Barnes and Nobles for 2 hours. read more

Big fan of downtown Fort Worth. Sundance Square is sort of the centerpiece to that area. Aside from the restaurants that surround the square, there's typically something going on there based upon the time of year. Whether it's Christmas themed (giant lit tree, Santa Claus meet n greet, live music performances) or the 4th of July (red, white, and blue everywhere) there's always a good crowd, with plenty of places to sit and just people watch. The Starbucks in Sundance Square is usually crazy busy so be prepared to wait, particularly in the evenings. The restaurant options are plentiful - from the higher class (Del Friscos) to the affordable (Taco Diner) there's something for everyone to enjoy here. Bass Hall is within walking distance, as is Scat Jazz (go there if you've never been), a cool AMC theater (Palace 9) and plenty of shopping. I've been fond of a visit to the Flying Saucer if you're thirsty for some adult beverages (a wall of draught and bottled beer). The crowds can get pretty large sometimes but they're always full of nice people. The police presence is there but not overwhelming- good to know they are there to keep order. Oh yeah, get your camera ready as there are lots of great photo opps... have fun! read more

Having recently just moved to the Ft. Worth area, I have heard that this was one of the must do things to see and to experience while I reside here. I must say I am glad I experienced it. This is a beautiful, classy and very modern square that has many shops and bistros with outside seating. The fountains here are also a beautiful focal point in the center of the square and offers great photo opportunities and multiple hours of fun play time for the kiddos. Quite frankly, I'd rather go to Greenville are or Deep Ellum to hang out with all of my friends for drinks and live music. Sundance Square is cool for a laid back night. Stop in one location for a snack, another for a drink, and then end with Marble Slab. what makes Sundance Square rock is when they host different festivals and events. My favorite memory in Sundance Square is camping out on top of the Flying Saucer while watching a bunch of people pay to get into the Country Music Event. I had a great time here with my husband Sunday night. We ate at Del Frisco's Grille (yum!) then walked around the square. There is a great wing statue that has a place for you to stand and take a picture. You can look like the angel everyone knows you are. We watched the waterfall fountain for a bit but the fountain the kids play in was more entertaining. That fountain has to be the best free activity for kids because they loved it. I know where I'm bringing my niece the next time she is in town! There is a ton of seating in the square too so it's nice to sit, people watch, and talk about life. When I moved to DFW from LA so many people complained about how there's nothing to do here. Sure there's a lot more things to do in LA, but there are also nice places in the DFW area. Like Sundance Square! It's so nice here. So many shops and food places. A nice place to even just sit down and relax. There's free parking signs leading to a parking garage. We arrived after 6pm so I'm not sure if it's only free after certain hours. Overall really recommending this location. it's so pretty. read more

We were in Sundance Square with our children and we liked this place. It is clean and beautiful. There were many people but it does not interfere us. There are so many places to eat, to drink and just for relax. And how many interesting and funny places for children! Amazing. My husband likes there free parking, it is not difficult to find a place for a car, because parking is big. The employees seem kind and friendly, only at one place they were rude. read more

Sundance square is the heart of downtown Fort Worth. We come here every time when we visit Cowtown.

My first stop in downtown Fort Worth! It's a charming open space with fountains and a "Wings of the City" sculpture for photo shoots. It's close to restaurants and bus lines and probably the heart of downtown Fort Worth. It's also a large shopping center but we didn't check out any stores as they're not visible from the Sundance Square Plaza. read more

Let's see, Sundance Square offers a valet service. What they don't tell you is that it can take 30 minutes or more to get your car once it's requested. You can't get it yourself so you're stuck with no transportation until they see fit to return your car to you. Won't be using this service again! read more

This is a great little square. I will be working right next to it so I imagine I will be spending a lot of time here. Went here to look at the new area, I am moving to FW, and I had lunch at a local sushi place. We walked through the square and it is really nice. Since it is Xmas, Santa was there and the big tree. I am from California, the Bay Area, so this square vaguely reminds me of Union Square in San Francisco, just obviously not as nice and not as big but same concept. Plenty of restaurants, bakeries, coffee, outdoor area which would be nice when it is not the summer and not 100 degrees. I think it is a good place. I like the fact that it offers 24hr security, that's pretty cool. I don't like when the homeless show up, to ask you for money or to by them a cup of coffee. This has made me to stop coming their as much like I used to. I don't have nothing against the homeless and all, but I think that is not a place for them to do what they do their. The square has made major improvements over the years. If I was ever asked if I would recommend it to some one, I would. It is a fun place indeed. read more
