I visited this past June and had the best time ever! The resort has everything you need and lots of summer activities. I hear all the rooms are different so the only gripe I had was our bathroom had zero counter space.., just a plain old sink by itself. Our friend had a much better bathroom (both stayed in Mandan). Some cool perks were the rides around resort by the bellman and the fresh tap water. Definitely hope to go back in the winter.

    Uinta Nat'l Forest late September

For a beautiful Fall afternoon, salvage your trip and drive PAST the Sundance resort and continue up into the Uinta Nat'l Forest. Gorgeous golden Aspen lined drive and plenty of places to pull over to take pictures Sundance Under Construction, poor signage, unorganized, no valet parking, lunch at The Foundry was average - with the exception of the seared salmon, which was nice. It is a beautiful drive from Park city if you take the river Road through Midway. Midway is a charming Swiss village with amazing casual dining - Provisions and Galleria were our favorites. Our day trip to Sundance turned into something so much better!

Towards the bottom - note the 'Tickets Remaining' figures for a given day/hour range.

The Chairlift rides looked like a real treat - and by all appearances look like a fun weekend to-do for the family. Unfortunately - deceptive mass marketing and copious instagram and TikTok addicted individuals are all in on making this gem more of a scuffed rock. I'd encourage anyone NOT TO GO ON THE WEEKEND. I have never seen a line this long, and this is not some turn of phrase or angry tirade wherein I take refuge in the ridiculous to make my point - this long was gargantuan. I attached some photos here from the base of where the ski-lift was so you can see the first stretch, but that was about 1/3 of the visible line to ride the chairlifts. We got there at around 7:30-7:45 - and to Sundance's benefit they do say it can be busy on the weekends, but on the actual ticketing system built into Sundance's website, there is an allotment of tickets available for purchase. "Once they're gone ~ they're gone!!" Some simple arithmetic allows us to take a peek at the metaphorical Wizard of Oz in all of it's greedy glory. Given the hours of operation (7pm-10pm) and given that each ride takes 30-45 minutes, and lastly assuming they sell 1000 tickets through the site for a given day - their figures for the amount of tickets is ludicrously generous. There's a reason why there will be no refunds - there's no possible way for more than 100-300 people to ride the lift during that 2:30 - 3 hr period of time which the lift operates. We finally threw in the towel at 8:30 after waiting in the unmoving line for around 20-30 minutes, we spoke with a couple near the restroom who has arrived earlier than the opening time at 6:30. They did not expect to make the ski-lift ride before it was set to close having waited 2 hours already. When they described where in the line their places were being held - having squandered 2 hours of their night had not even yielded them to be within sight of that final stretch. If you are dead set on going - be sure to do what all the kids do; send someone super early in the day and just cut in with them when you're ready. It pays to know people here in Utah.

This review is for the ski lift. It was incredible!! I was not expecting to be able to do on three different lifts to get to the top. It's a little scary if you're afraid of heights but it is so worth it. Wear sun screen and prepare for high winds. As you pass through different altitudes the wind can change quickly. Workers are nice and informative. If you have purchased tickets online you walk right up and show them. Park at the top of the hill and get off at the second shuttle stop. The cafe at the top is so cute and the scenery is incredible. Can't wait to come back!

Expensive! Expect everything to be expensive because it's Sundance. 3-4 different restaurants on the premises. There's a zip line. Ski lift. Hiking bikes, trails, and shops. There's a shop for mountain climbing. Fairly family friendly. Very nicely built lodge for anyone that is staying in the lodge. Fair amount of parking. Call ahead to make reservations or expect an hour wait. There's a deli for quicker eating. BBQ restaurant upstairs in the main lodge (casual). The Foundry was fairly casual for brunch but dinner is probably a little more fancy. There's another restaurant that's outside dining only. Would visit again. The Forest surrounding Sundance is beautiful. There were young butterflies flitting around everywhere. The thin creek ran throughout the premises. It was very serene. Robert Redford, when he eats at the Foundry, likes to eat in the fireplace room, in the far most left table in the corner. Neat! It was a cosy room. Food was delicious and pricey $$$$$.

The Scenic Summer Ski Lift was the best part of this resort. It was actually worth what we paid. The lift took us to the top of the mountain the the Bearclaw restaurant. The lift itself took a little more than an hour round trip. The view was beautiful and even better on the way down. Only three stars because the other parts of the resort are definitely overpriced.

The mountain views from the top of the slopes is stunning. My son had wonderful snowboarding lessons and learned so much. I had a fabulous snowboarding lesson and a good ski lesson. (I disliked one of my ski instructors and insisted on switching instructors. I am so happy I did.) We had fresh powder and an almost empty mountain. It was amazing! Our cabin was spacious with a full kitchen and three patios overlooking trees and snow. It had multiple heaters. I liked our cabin, but the outside heater unit was very noisy and the tp and Kleenex were very abrasive. The nice touches that came with the room (including a cheese plate) are thoughtful. Acura SUVs shuttle you from place to place as nothing is connected at the resort. Overall this is an efficient service. One time they must have forgotten about us, and we wound up walking after 30 minutes of waiting and not being able to get through to the front desk. All of the drivers were very friendly. Our luggage took 75 minutes to deliver while my 10 year old was miserable waiting for our snow gear to be delivered, so he could play. I called over and over again for 30 minutes before someone picked up the phone. I told him we had been waiting for 1 hour (at that point) for our luggage. It turns out they sent our luggage with other guests. I was highly annoyed by this and felt the front desk person did not handle the situation well--he seemed annoyed at me instead of apologetic for sending our suitcases with the wrong party. That entire situation was handled poorly and the staff need to be retrained to avoid suitcase mixups and to handle situations when mistakes do occur---for instance, sending up cookies as an apology. My deep tissue massage at the spa was very pleasant though pricey. It was around $230 including a tip. The foot soak prior to the massage was relaxing, and the staff is very friendly. The Foundry Grill has good food. We ate there for most meals, and it was solid. The seasoned French fries are super yummy. We all favored the fries over all of the other dishes. The only dish to avoid is the shrimp tacos. (I would skip the seafood since I also did not like my miso cod.) The campfire cookie is the better dessert over the sticky toffee pudding. We had a wonderful trip and would come here again.

    Footloose

In regards to their outdoor theater: It was a gorgeous view all around! We were there for opening night of Footloose, and it poured on us! Thankfully the performance still went on! They had to stop part-way through to see if it would stop raining a bit, and it did, but they had to cut a few songs and scenes; unfortunately they cut "Let's hear it for the boy" and I wish they would have added the 5 minutes to do that song because it is iconic with Footloose. The performers and stage crew were amazing and I'd love to come back when it's not a downpour. I went with my Mother-in-law who has a cane and needs assistance walking and this location is not very ADA/handicapped friendly. So if you have those who are less mobile, be aware of those hardships. It would be nice if they were able to make it more handicap accessible, but I understand that it is a theater built into a mountainside.

Perfect place to take guests in summer for hikes, full moon lift rides, and bluebird cafe concerts. Perfect in winter for skiing, snowshoeing or cross countryskiing. Perfect year round for live music in the owl bar or a special occasion meal in the Tree Room. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.

Great mountain resort that still feels true to ITs intimate small 60's vibe. The summer theater. Myb bikjng,, and restaurants are worth your visit.

Gorgeous place!! But very very busy. Check in was easy. Living space was huge. We got the cabin with a lift. However there is only one bathroom and it is through the bed room so that make it inconvenient. We took the ski lift ride for $17 per person and it was worth it. It was almost an hour ride for round trip. View was beautiful in early October. I would love to come back and do some hiking and zip lining.

The website said it was available only as early as Wednesday! So I had to rent elsewhere and bring them in. Ok, So Monday morning I arrive to the first parking area and the attendant said I had to go to the upper level instead to print out my tickets at the kiosk. Okay so I drive up to the upper level, and look for the kiosk dispenser to use my QR code. The kiosk took my QR code but didn't spit out any tickets/cards. The attendant near the kiosk said to go in the 1 hour ticket line adjacent or try the kiosk at the lower level. Soooo, I drive back down to the lower level and look for some kiosk. I asked 3 people and 2 people misdirected me all around to a yurt, and then a cafeteria, then someone finally showed me where it was. I tried the kiosk, and then it said it was already printed out!! So then I had to find the ticket office. Again, I was misdirected to different areas and said it was the "activity center". Ok I saw it but there was a giant ladder that was blocking the double doors. I don't know why I had to bump the ladder just to get in, but I did. Then I had to get in another line. Then it took 15 min to finally get my lift tickets/cards. They were nice but my frustration level was so high. Then I asked for a locker, and there was actually no locker at this area. What's a ski resort without lockers? They said I had to go back to the upper level to get a locker. Omg. NeverMind. Ok so we finally get to the lift on the lower level after 1 and a half hours later and guess what , sometimes the lift tickets/cards work and sometimes it doesn't. It was like that all day. Sometimes we had to take out the lift ticket/card out of our jacket and place it right next to a sensor reader , or place it next to the reader on the opposite side. We made the most of it for about 3 and a half hours and called it quits. Snow was fine and I understand it wasn't optimal. But this lift ticket process shouldn't be this inefficient, and I don't understand why people can't directly rent skis or boards online the night before during high season. I believe this isn't a new ski resort. A ticket is $159, expensive and way overvalued

That winter, Utah had historic snowfalls. I began contacting SML as early as March to express concern about the snow. I was assured that if it did not melt by May, SML had equipment where they could and remove the snow in time for the ground to dry. Come May, SML did not remove snow, but gladly took full payment for both the Hollow and the house, for our other rentals, and those of our guests. Then, 23 days before our wedding, the other owner, emailed us to abruptly cancel our venue at the Hollow. There was no phone call, no apology, just an explanation that they were concerned about their lawn recovering this summer, and that the stream was louder than usual. They had no alternative venue, and suggested we book the Sundance Resort for our venue - a thoughtless recommendation to make 3 weeks before our wedding as all of our vendors (catering, rental etc.) were well past their cancellation policies and Sundance Resort also had been completely booked as of the year before. SML then suggested they could get permission to host our wedding at the house that we were already renting. When SML confirmed, it also came with "stipulations" of an additional $4,000 "fee" plus $3,000 security deposit - un-coincidentally the exact the sum we had paid for the Hollow. With zero options, this felt like extortion, and we accepted. This now required us to re-plan an entire wedding in a couple of weeks, and forfeit substantial investments that were made in anticipation of having the venue at the Hollow. During the process of replanning the wedding, SML owners were unresponsive at best. It took days for them to respond to emails (often requiring 2 and 3 emails plus phone calls and texts to get a response), and phone calls would go unreturned. This contributed to an already extremely stressful situation that any bride would describe as a complete nightmare. In the end, the lawn at the Hollow was green and healthy the week of our wedding and SML appeared to be setting up another event. We were respectful the entire weekend left the house spotless, yet the owner was belligerent, rude, and unprofessional. The way events were also handled from the cancellation of our wedding to checking-out are beyond the bounds of human decency, let alone professionalism. This is a family run business, who runs their business without concern for their impact on others and makes unethical grabs at additional profits after they take every effort to upend a wedding. They truly took what was supposed to be the best day of our lives and ruined much of the joy in the occasion. If you are considering SML for an important event, I can recommend more strongly to look elsewhere.
