Brighton's a pretty resilient ski resort, still snowing here in mid to late April, despite Solitude right next to it getting rain instead and having to end their season much sooner. Brighton's so deep in the mountains, it was getting even more snow than Alta or Snowbird late season. Nonetheless, most of the skiable area was closed from late April on, and they had some really sticky slush near the bottom. I went here on the week of April 20th (the stoner holiday) not thinking anything of it, and have never seen such a high concentration of intoxicated, degenerate, drug-obsessed college kids and degenerate behavior. These kids were consuming alcohol on the runs, making fun of, laughing at and humiliating beginners, and couldn't stop chairlift blabbing about jumping people, buying alcohol underaged, and "whippets" or however you spell it, their apparent drug of choice. Having an Ikon Pass and going to Alta that same week, I wanted to find the explanatory factor for the extreme disparity in guests between here and Alta that particular week. I looked online and saw Brighton was selling day passes for only $49, and marketing their late season as an event, "The Meltdown", geared toward younger people looking to party. Most of the staff here were nice and professional, with one exception. This attractive blonde girl working here was rude and standoffish when I asked what time they close, as they kept changing the closing time, seemingly on a daily basis, and nobody seemed to know. Different websites said different times and their closing time varies by day of the week, time of the season, weather, even by lift or section of the mountain, so it was like a Scooby-Doo mystery trying to figure it out. Then to get an attitude like "What... what time do we close?! You're hitting on me?!! You can't think of a better pickup line than that?! You know how many pickup lines I hear a day??" Probably not the right person to be working in hospitality. On the upside, the night skiing and tree skiing were exceptional here when I went earlier in the season, and the girl I took said this was her favorite resort. When I tried taking her to Snowbird she had a panic attack, saying it was too steep, and had to have ski patrol take her down in the basket, so Brighton's probably more beginner friendly. read more

So I go to Brighton to ride the bike park today. Approach parking lot, attendant guides me to my spot. I get out to unload bikes from the back of my van. Put one on the ground, have the other one in my hands, and the lot girl tells me to move the bike behind my van. My hands are full, so I say I'll do it in 30sec when I get the wheel on this other bike. So she MOVES my bike on the ground, and leans it against my van. Then guides a car into the spot behind my bike, and smashes my bike between my van, and the new arrival's car. Pinches it hard. So hard the wheels are tweaked. $2500 wheels. Then pulls an attitude saying she has the right to do this. All visible to several people watching, some not with me. They couldn't believe it. All over me not step-n-fetch-it immediately, instead of just waiting 30 sec for me to finish, to move the bike, then they could park a car in the open spot. Open spots all over! I complained to management, and they did have the bike shop fix my wheels, but that took an hour of my riding time while I waited for the mechanic to do it. Sitting there waiting. The whole thing was totally unnecessary. I can understand being a lot Nazi in Winter, when parking and space is a problem, but in SUMMER the lot is not full, and there's no need to be an asshole like this. Even though they fixed my bike, it was a total buzzkill on the day, and had me sitting there waiting for an hour while they fixed my bike. No compensation. Avoid this place. read more

Brighton is something else especially for locals. Don't waste your time and money at other huge resorts like park city, deer valley, etc. this is a quick drive from the valley. Yes, the resort is smaller but it is pretty much all locals that love the sport and outdoors. The terrain is amazing from extremely easy to incredibly difficult. You can find whatever train you're really looking for that suits you. While ski skiing and snowboarding has got over the expensive Brighton is actually at a decent value, especially if you look for a discount. This is always our go to resort as a family. read more

This review is strictly for their Non-Oktoberfest. They had a dj playing music that was just ok. They had 4 bounce houses for the kids, and a bronco to ride all for free. Some large checker lawn games too. They had a beer garden and some chefs cooking or dueling for competition and you could vote on which one was the best. It was really busy and hardly anywhere to sit, I don't think I'd go back again as it's a bit far from our home, but if you'd in the area it's worth an hour or so to check out. First time getting an Ikon pass and going to Brighton. Have to say.. SLC has had some of the best mountains and it's so convenient to get to!!! I will say.. the night before it snowed and also snowed on the way when we drove to the mountain the next morning. Traffic was insane cause traction laws were in effect, but when we got the mountain, it was a good time! Awesome views, tons of snow and beautiful long yet challenging runs! (Blue runs). Parking was not full when we went and we got super lucky with reserving a parking pass. Bathrooms are clean, establishments for food were also clean! We always pack lunches so I don't know how the food tastes, but looks like they have salads, sandwiches, etc. All staff members were super friendly too! read more

I've been to Brighton twice now and feel I've experienced it enough to share my thoughts. At first I thought this place was small but I was entirely wrong. It has so many paths and lifts. I love the variety and it's beautiful. Some parts of snow are rough but in general it's great. From ski lift agents to people working the lifts, they all seem nice and do their job well. Their bathrooms are kept clean and well stocked. The lift workers seem to have a good time and are very well aware of the people. I enjoy the ease of the process. There is a shuttle bus if you are unable to reserve parking. It can get extremely busy here. There are both skiers and snowboarders. read more

Brighton was one of the first ski resorts I visited after moving back to Utah, and it's definitely a classic. I believe it's one of the oldest ski resorts in the state, and it has that laid-back, no-frills vibe that makes it great for a casual day on the mountain. Getting there can be a bit of a hassle--there was a long line of cars heading up the canyon, and the parking lot was pretty packed. But once we got on the chairlift, things smoothed out. The snow was decent, and the groomed runs were okay, not the best I've ridden, but still enjoyable. I dipped into the trees a bit, and while it's not as heavily wooded as some other resorts, it still made for a fun ride. I'd say Brighton is a solid option for intermediate skiers and snowboarders, and the views are absolutely beautiful. The only downsides to this resort are the pricey food options and due to growing popularity and tourism, the parking situation can put you in quite a pickle. Review here is for early season ski/snowboard at Brighton. Overall had a awesome time! As a beginner, I really enjoyed the abundance of green/blue trails, all of which were very approachable, had wide paths, and often intersected so you could take the same lift up, but a mixture of paths down. Environment was very chill and family friendly, so had a really great time! The layout of the place is pretty good, with multiple lifts located on different sides of the Brighton center. I also like that you could take both Crest Express and Majetic and could get over to Snake Creek Express lift, and get to top of the mountain-- which has green and blue trail down for beginners/intermediate ski/snowboarders. The place also has some pretty cool and convenient terrain parks positioned down the center, so there is def something for everyone here! This was pretty cool to watch when we were taking Majestic lift up. Overall thought the organization of this place was great. Staff everywhere were also very friendly and helpful. The only challenge with Brighton is the limited parking, which now requires a parking pass that you may need to buy weeks in advance. It's possible to park on the side of the road (a bit down from the place and walk a long way), city of Brighton, or closer to Utah and take the ski bus in. Being new to the area, we ended up taking the easy way out and scheduled uber both ways. At around $50-60 each way, it's much pricier than city bus, but way cheaper than private ski bus. Pro tip here is to schedule multiple hours in advance since you might not find anything calling an uber on the spot. Overall, awesome time and highly recommend this place for ski/snowboard! read more

Ohhh I love Brighton greens so much. These were perfect for our fourth and sixth times skiing. They are also open for night skiing now. Keep in mind, if you take the bus, the evening intervals get a lot longer with the last bus leaving at 8:22 with the one prior leaving before 6. Parking is $20 if you don't have a Brighton pass. We didn't buy any food here but the lodge is very roomy downstairs for resting and eating snacks if you brought them. Ski lessons here are retry reasonable as well at $350 for five two hour lessons. This seems to be the lowest in the city. They even have black diamond lessons. read more

First time to Brighton. Got here at 8am on Wednesday and Thursday and was able to park in the first row both days. Excellent groomed runs. Most of the time not much wait for the lifts as they run pretty smoothly. It didn't seem overly crowded and the runs never seemed too busy or unsafe. The blues and greens were fun with lots of variety. Some moguls. Some in the trees skiing and plenty of fun. Had a private lesson with Lisa and she was top notch. Night skiing was also a blast with plenty of runs to choose from. Food was excellent. All the staff were friendly, helpful and plentiful. read more

Oh boy, I think I found one of my new favorite resorts within a close proximity (1.5 hour flight + 1 hour drive). Considering that Tahoe these days is rammed full of people and traffic in and out is a PITA, it probably makes more sense to come to Utah to snowboard on the weekends instead. Excluding the airfare, the cost is actually cheaper than a weekend in Tahoe. Anyhow, I digress. This resort is awesome because of the different runs and options available. From speedy groomers to powdery tree runs and even a park, the mountain has everything, + the benefit of a lot less people than any of the Tahoe resorts. My friends and I are on the Ikon pass and with it comes the ability to night board. We ended up boarding from 9-5 our first day...exhausting but so worth it as snow was dumping the entire day! The conditions kept getting better and better. This was my first time in Utah snowboarding and I am beyond satisfied. Might have to come here much more often! They also opened up a new lift that is the fastest in Utah and much faster than any of the California lifts. Just amazing! read more

This is not a review for skiing. It's for their Summer Outdoor Market. It's got two more Sundays to be open and then we may have snow but I hope not. A few stands with great handmade items. We found our favorite spot the record Vinyl Store. The owner goes to Europe often so we both got albums that were never offered in the US. We also took home Tiramusu and some delicious salsa and chips. I would highly recommend both of these places too. You can ride the tram up and then hike down. The temperature was perfect and it's a quick day get away which is about 30 minutes from Salt Lake City. read more

Brighton was rock solid, but way less pow than Snowbird. Brighton was day 2 for me, so the bar was set high. As such, it ended up being very icy in comparison which caused me to catch an edge here and there. The food court was cool, and lots of kids here which was a mental note I made for my own kids in the future. I'll probably be back because it's on the IKON pass, but I'll also add that their green run that's at the peak is honest to god a blue run with a couple black run-features here and there. I feel Brighton is a very good value for the price and it is a great place for kids to learn to ski. Normally my rating would be a 10 but I had the absolute worst experience getting there on Saturday March 11th. It took us four hours to get there from Sandy. On a normal day it would be a 40 minute drive from our home. We left our house at 7 AM which is two hours before the resort opens. It took us four hours to step foot on the resort. The worst part is the parking lot was full so we had to park down the street and walk for one hour. With two little kids that's ridiculous. I know Brighton cannot expand its parking lot, but there are things you could do like sell each parking stall, so somebody knows whether or not they can park a car before they even attempt to go up the canyon. Luckily, the wait time for the chairlift was very short, and we were able to get a lot of runs in which made up for the time wasted. The best part was Brighton had employees making sure each chairlift was completely full with guests, which made the wait times very short. I was really happy to see that. In the past it's every person for themselves, and most chair lifts are never completely full and the lines are long. read more

Brighton had night boarding available for us. We drove all the way from SoCal and were able to find a parking spot. We pulled up after 3pm, which they allow anyone to look for parking. The terrain is mainly blues and a few blacks and few park runs. They do have decent size kickers and nice park features. There is a new reservation parking system now implemented, so it is hard to ski on weekends in the morning. read more

This is a great resort. The staff here have a great vibe. They are very relaxed and friendly, and our ski instructors (Scott L. for the adults, and Matt for the kids) were very patient, kind, and positive. Even the staff at the equipment rentals were really relaxed and friendly, even when it was busy. It definitely feels like a local spot. The cafeteria can get really crowded, but I've seen people tailgate in the parking lot and bring in food with no problems. They have a decent amount of ski runs with different difficulty levels, but obviously during the holidays it can get busy. I love that the parking is right next to the lodges and lifts. Oh hey. I drove all the way from Minnesota to ski the Wasatch Mountain Range, and it did not disappoint. I was hoping that Utah would be a fraction of the crowds as in Colorado and certainly at Brighton that was true. The parking lot was full both days I was there and but the lifts never had a line! Some super-smart scientist guy named Jim Steenburgh (oh yeah I researched dis) scientifically proved that Utah has the best snow by composition. It has the perfect flotation (density) where your skis or board sits right below the surface but never buries itself. So pretty much the snow is soft and reactive to ski on AND when you wipe-out it doesn't hurt... you just go POOF! If you have a clear skies day take the Great Western Express Chairlift, then take Western Trail. The view looks absolutely stunning! This is a great resort and it has relatively cheap ticket prices unlike those in Colorado. There are so many run and cross-trails you could ski for days without redoing a run, and decades before it might feel repetitive! A great mix of greens, blues, blacks, and double blacks. I've skied/snowboarded at Brighton since the late 90s when I lived in Salt Lake City and have LOVED it since my first visit there. Every year, a bunch of guys I know get together for a ski/snowboard trip to Japan. Unfortunately, Japan wasn't a option this year (thank you COVID) so we headed to Utah instead and we made our first stop Brighton . . . of course. On day one, we were surprised by the shear number of skiers/boarders making the trek on a Sunday. Incredibly, there was absolutely NO parking whatsoever! I have never experienced that kind of crowds on a Sunday . . . EVER!!! Weird, especially for Utah. Surprisingly, the mountain didn't seem crowded in the least and I throughly enjoyed every minute spent on the mountain.I remember teaching my two oldest children to ski here and I was able to add more positive memories to the files. The entire week had NO natural snowfall, but it didn't affect the groomed runs whatsoever. Sadly, staying on the mountain is almost impossible since the options are very limited. However, transport to the hill from Salt Lake is very easy. If you're not comfortable driving, the SkiBus is a fantastic alternative from the Fort Union area or at the bottom of Big Cottonwood ($10/RT). I look forward to skiing here again (and again). The major factor affecting this review is TRAFFIC: I drove up from Vegas on a Friday night to ride some fresh powder after a big storm. We stayed in SLC and planned on heading up to the mountain early. We left our hotel around 7:30am and it took TWO HOURS to get to Brighton. The traffic was insanity and I 100% wouldn't do it again. There were SO many merges before getting to Big Cottonwood Canyon Road - and people were NOT about sharing the road. I'd definitely choose to ride the UTA bus - or leave the hotel by 6:45am and just eat breakfast at the mountain while we wait for the lifts to open. Once we FINALLY got to the mountain, the lines were a bit bananas. Snowbird was closed this day because LCC wasn't open, so I'm sure it affected the lines. I didn't love that not every lift had a Singles line option, seems inefficient. In terms of the actual skiing/terrain, the snow quality was nice (it was a warm storm that blew over, but I know that's not the warm). There are a lot of really nice tree runs where it's not super dense and we had a blast in those sections. There is a lot of beginner/intermediate terrain here but I was really surprised that the runs were not super crowded! Even with the lines, the actual runs were not congested. I would definitely come back - but if it's a weekend day, definitely make a MUCH earlier departure or take public transport/carpool. read more

It's a great resort, with some of the best snow in the world, staffed by awesome people - just don't try to use their website to buy a GoCard or a Season Pass. I've been a loyal fan of Brighton for more than 20 years. My three kids grew up there and still love boarding at Brighton more than anywhere else. EVERY year trying to buy passes for the upcoming season is a complete fiasco. Error messages, locked profiles, carts going empty mid-process, multiple numbers for the same ID, etc. It would be so nice if they could finally get their e-commerce up to a decent standard, but as of 2020, the continue to be sub-par and management appears not to care that much. I tried to rollover GoCards on May 21, 2020 and they didn't respond to my email request for help until July 5! This was their response, "Thank you for being a valued customer. We are experiencing unusually high call volumes and emails. We will be reaching out to you as soon as possible. Yes! I love Brighton. It does have a bit of a snowboard scene but it is great for kids. Kids group lessons are only $60. This includes the lift ticket. They do an excellent job. I have skied for many years and thought I could just teach my kids but I put them in lessons and it made a huge difference. Also I normally buy an early season pass for $380. This gets you a Monday through Friday pass with some blackout dates. Then your kids are free till their 10. They don't have super steep terrain but have various sections of steep. Also there is rarely lift lines during the week which is a real plus. I would definitely call this more of a locals resort. read more

I love Brighton, personally it's always been my favorite since I moved to Utah over 20 years ago. What has changed is the increase in people driving up the canyon. We left from Utah County and it took 2 hours to get to the resort, less than 10 years ago you could drive up and it would take less than an hour. It's sad to see how crazy busy it gets now with the increase in people moving to Utah. We'll trying going back during the weekday in hopes we won't have to wait through that again. Once you get there, the staff is directing you where to park quickly to get the crowds parked. If you are not up there parking between 8-9:30 you might be out of luck until people start to leave on the weekends. The snow was nice and soft and the trails were well groomed, perfect sunny day. It was 15 degrees but felt a lot warmer once you get going. I do like how they have you get on the lift with only the group/s you arrived with. It might take longer for people to get up the mountain but it's nice to just chill on the lift up without crowding. Great snow, beautiful views, and fun runs.
