We went to Alta lodge for a wedding and stayed the night. The view From the room was incredible! It was a beautiful venue for the wedding, I definitely recommend. The room was great, everyone was really nice, the breakfast was great. Just want to stay there again!

The Alta Lodge is a great ski experience!!! Great food, facility, and best of all a very accommodating staff. While the lodge will take you back to the 70's, they have kept up necessary upgrades... My kudos go to Kaitlen, Jessica, and Anna for the awesome Yoga class... thank you so much... Their expertise, knowledge, and passion for Yoga was truly a great way to start each day...Can't wait to return

I'd give it 6 stars if I could. Maybe I'd give it 10. Who knows. Stars don't matter at this point. The Lodge has a tradition that they are rightly proud of. That tradition is skiing, and the skiing in the Wasatch is outstanding. Add morning yoga, breakfast, second breakfast (not kidding), afternoon tea and cookies baked in house, sauna and hot tub, dinner with desserts also made in house, and last but not least the legendary Sitzmark club, and you have yourself one of the best vacations.

Stopped in for brunch after checking out wildflowers at Albion meadows and Cecret lake trails (in July). The view from our table outside was incredible. The food was delicious. Great salads, lots of vegetables, eggs Benedict, waffles, cannoli, multigrain blueberry muffins, I won't go through the whole buffet menu unceremoniously, but basically it was all good and really well done. Real maple syrup!!!

With carpet, wooden walls and furniture, the casual and cozy bar at Alta Lodge is the perfect place for an après ski - there's no whiff of ski resort corporatism here.

Rustic! A real ski lodge. It's all about the skiing. Food was very good, limited wine selection, Starbucks coffee. Breakfast and dinner included. Friendly, helpful staff. Room was small but had perfect view of the mountains. No TV other than in lounge area. Cozy pillows and comforters in room as well as Aveda products. Short distance to Collins Lift. Rope tow access. Yoga classes in early morning hours before breakfast. Coffee/tea and homemade snack served before dinner. Hot tub and sauna on premises, too.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! This was the absolute worst hotel experience of my life. I stayed here along w/ my sister for 3 nights and the accommodations were terrible. I am genuinely confused by all of the 5 star reviews! #LIES! First of all, the lodge is located way up high in mountains where the scenery is absolutely beautiful... Unfortunately, this is the one and only good thing about this place. The stairs: There are no elevators at this ski lodge so you have to walk up and down 3 huge flights of stairs to get in and out of the hotel/lobby, this was terrible for us and will be to anyone else who has never experienced being at this high of altitude whether you are in shape or not. Trekking these stairs at 8,600 miles high and having no other option is outright hazardous!!! The room: Just awful.... If I didn't know any better, I'd say these rooms were put together w/ a hot glue gun! The walls are paper thin, cracks and holes in the ceiling, dark, dingy, smelly, old and there is no tv, microwave, mini fridge, iron, or even a clock radio!! Beds are hard as a rock and sheets are paper thin. The air conditioning system is a huge, old and loud box that sticks out from the window, carpets are filthy and there were open spaces in between the SINGLE paned Windows which left the Windows all foggy/sweaty and exposing our room to the outside elements. The bathroom is actually quite nice compared to the rest of the room. Bright, small and pretty clean. On our last night we were abruptly woken up by a LOUD banging noise coming from the air conditioner. We called the front desk and were told maintenance would not be on duty until 7am but were willing to come take a look at it... That was a huge waste of time as the guy from the front desk took one look and said he had NO idea what was causing the noise and didn't know how to fix it. The air in the mountains is very thin which makes it quite difficult to breathe, especially at night. Thankfully, they provide you with the world's very first humidifier to get you through the struggle! Seriously, the humidifier provided is REALLY old and gave minimal relief during the night. It also had a sign on it that it is "best used with 1 packet of salt," and of course, we weren't provided any. The pool: There is a very nice view of the mountains from the deck outside of the pool area, but one of the sliding glass doors was broken and wouldn't open/close. We tried to activate the bubbles in one of the pools by turning the dial and nothing happened... so, we went over to the next pool ( btw it's not a pool at all, it's a HOT tub) to use that one. We turned the dial to active the bubbles and water from the first pool started shooting up out of the Jets and splashing water all over the floor and making a very loud noise! We saw a staff member passing by and told him, he tried to fix it. He couldn't. He told a maintenance worker who came in and said that's how it was "supposed" to run.....? WHAT?! It was so loud and distracting we just left. The staff: Overall, I thought the staff were pretty friendly and at least made an attempt to be helpful until it came to the "breakfast situation." This ended up being one of the biggest disappointments of our entire stay. Based on several reviews, many had positive things to say about the breakfast served here. We were told that because we were attending the conference down the street we were excluded from the daily breakfast at the hotel because "they heard" that complimentary breakfast would be served at the conference. Apparently, there was a miscommunication because breakfast was in fact NOT included in the conference we were attending. We expressed to the front desk that we were not being served breakfast at the conference and we were STILL excluded from daily breakfast at the hotel. Had we actually gotten to try the food here and liked it, this review may have earned an extra star... I guess we'll never know. Frankly, this place just needs to be completely remodeled, revamped, and redone. I cannot see how anyone could ever stay here in the winter season when it's snowing, staying here in summer was as bad as it gets. Also, all of the other hotels in the area were completely sold out at the time of our stay so it was impossible to find other accommodations, if we could have, we definitely would have. I will NEVER EVER return.

Beautiful view from the deck eating lunch!

That's a pretty big pro-- but ultimately we found it offset by some "cons" which will likely keep us from choosing the Peruvian again in the future. Especially at $550/night. In addition to the proximity to the mountain, they also have an onsite ski shop. We did enjoy the big lobby and lower level room it's well set up with spots to hang out, play games, read a book, or get some work done. You can drop your bags & ski until your room is ready or after check-out and they nicely accommodated a 1 pm check out for us, which I greatly appreciated. Your food is included in your room charge. The breakfast & lunch is served buffet style and set out on sterno burners at the start of service and not refreshed before the end of service. While I made the best of it the three days we stayed, the breakfast & lunch were not enjoyable. Dinner, on the other hand, was surprisingly good. They had a different vegetarian option each evening and several non-veg entrees +soup, a few salads, and several desserts. The drinks were also very reasonable. I would love to see an afternoon snack service of some type (even just more cookies) offered between lunch & dinner. But there is a small store that does carry some sundry snacks if you get peckish. Being avid skiers who've stayed our fare share of ski lodging, we were prepared for the very small, not updated, old-timey-"charm" that is the Peruvian and we are not fussy about that sort of thing. That said, they missed the mark on some of the basic expectations around cleanliness, leading to my 3 star review. Most acutely, the bathroom in our unit was not cleaned between guests & although they sent someone in to clean after we complained, the bathroom remained sub-par on the cleanliness scale. On a seemingly more chronic level dishes & silverware in the dining room were frequently dirty and the hot tubs were also not particularly clean. Oh, and the bed was one of the least comfortable beds I've ever slept in. We come to the SLC area annually and have stayed slope-side, hotel in SLC, with friends, AIRBNB, etc. We were excited to stay slope-side at Alta but will revert back to staying elsewhere and driving the 30 minutes from town if we want to ski at Alta, oh well.

I even booked a room on the 9th-floor Spa Level so I'd have convenient access to what's advertised as the "premium" gym. I woke up at 5:30 a.m. ready for my normal pre-ski workout, only to find the Spa Level gym doesn't open until 8:00 a.m. For anyone who takes training seriously, that's essentially useless. I dragged myself downstairs to the alternative gym, which is tiny--basically a hotel "fitness room" with rows of cardio equipment and almost no free weights or functional training space. For a resort that charges luxury rates and positions itself as the home base for high-performance skiing, this was shockingly inadequate. If you're a serious athlete or even someone who just wants a legitimate morning lift before hitting the mountain, be prepared for major disappointment. Snowbird/Cliff Lodge really needs to step up its gym game or at least be upfront that early-morning training isn't an option here. Although he remained professional throughout the interaction, he was uninterested in helping me with my blight of having an SUV stuck in 20 inches of fresh snow. His only solution was to tell me to "take a shovel and deal with it yourself. We're busy. If you don't finish, you can continue working on it after you get back from skiing at 4 PM." His response was very dismissive, rushed, and condescending. He didn't even extend the courtesy of asking someone from his team to help. After shoveling snow for 20 minutes, I see him sitting at reception, doing nothing. This is an absolutely UNACCEPTABLE attitude towards guests. However, as a saving grace, the other employees at Goldminer's Daughter Lodge were PHENOMENAL. Two different employees noticed me struggling to shovel snow and immediately got a shovel and helped me. If not for these kind folks, I would have missed my flight.
