The staff was so attentive - they were quick to respond whenever we had questions, even during the evening hours when we arrived to the cabin late Friday evening. They checked in and made sure we were comfortable and were communicative before, during, and after our stay. We wish we could've lived in the cabin we rented for the weekend! There were so many thoughtful details throughout the house itself and it had literally everything we needed. We will definitely be renting through them again! Last fall, we met with one of the owners of SML to book the Hollow in addition to another large property to rent for our family for our wedding in June 2023. That winter, Utah had historic snowfalls. I began contacting SML as early as March to express concern about the snow. I was assured that if it did not melt by May, SML had equipment where they could and remove the snow in time for the ground to dry. Come May, SML did not remove snow, but gladly took full payment for both the Hollow and the house, for our other rentals, and those of our guests. Then, 23 days before our wedding, the other owner, emailed us to abruptly cancel our venue at the Hollow. There was no phone call, no apology, just an explanation that they were concerned about their lawn recovering this summer, and that the stream was louder than usual. They had no alternative venue, and suggested we book the Sundance Resort for our venue - a thoughtless recommendation to make 3 weeks before our wedding as all of our vendors (catering, rental etc.) were well past their cancellation policies and Sundance Resort also had been completely booked as of the year before. SML then suggested they could get permission to host our wedding at the house that we were already renting. When SML confirmed, it also came with "stipulations" of an additional $4,000 "fee" plus $3,000 security deposit - un-coincidentally the exact the sum we had paid for the Hollow. With zero options, this felt like extortion, and we accepted. This now required us to re-plan an entire wedding in a couple of weeks, and forfeit substantial investments that were made in anticipation of having the venue at the Hollow. During the process of replanning the wedding, SML owners were unresponsive at best. It took days for them to respond to emails (often requiring 2 and 3 emails plus phone calls and texts to get a response), and phone calls would go unreturned. This contributed to an already extremely stressful situation that any bride would describe as a complete nightmare. In the end, the lawn at the Hollow was green and healthy the week of our wedding and SML appeared to be setting up another event. We were respectful the entire weekend left the house spotless, yet the owner was belligerent, rude, and unprofessional. The way events were also handled from the cancellation of our wedding to checking-out are beyond the bounds of human decency, let alone professionalism. This is a family run business, who runs their business without concern for their impact on others and makes unethical grabs at additional profits after they take every effort to upend a wedding. They truly took what was supposed to be the best day of our lives and ruined much of the joy in the occasion. If you are considering SML for an important event, I can recommend more strongly to look elsewhere. read more

We rented 4 large cabins for a family reunion in July. Come to find out the neighbors are very unhappy that owners are renting out their cabins and complain to the association if they get a hint the cabins are being rented. Because of this we were told that everyone had to stay in the cabin they were assigned to and could not roam between the four cabins. Are you kidding me? Stewart Mountain advertises on their website they host family reunions....that you can rent cabins close together and gather. They tout their Yelp reviews of renters who have done this in the past. We spent $7,400 for a two night stay for a family reunion and were sequestered to our own cabins! We were even charged a $1,000 fine for meeting together for lunch one of the days. I would really discourage anyone from renting for a family reunion. Stewart Mountain should make it clear before you rent that the neighbors and association are vehemently opposed to short-term rentals. read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about the home we stayed in while in Sundance, UT as well as the outstanding customer service we received from Stewart Mountain Lodging, specifically Wyatt. The home was magical and was just as advertised. Wyatt, from Stewart Mountain Lodging, was so kind and helpful. He went out of his way to ensure we got to the house easily and let us know that they were working on the main road that leads up to the house so there may be traffic. Upon arrival, we came to a house that felt warm and inviting, as well as had all the lights on. It was so easy to get into the house and there were booklets there with a variety of amazing activities to take part in for a variety of different interest levels. Wyatt also checked in on us the next day (because we arrived late in the evening) to ensure that everything was up to par. Stewart Mountain Lodging was just the right amount of helpful. My family felt so fortunate to have been able to say in a property that they managed and we look forward to going back to Sundance and using their services again. This was our second time renting a home thru Stewart Mountain Lodging. This company is simply amazing. Their customer service is second to none. From the initial reservation phone call with Aly (sp?) to the (welcomed) emails prior to our stay; confirming our stay, directions and instructions. We received texts almost daily checking to see that we arrived and if we had any questions, texts to see how everything was going and whether we need anything. Holy cr@p, these folks are on their game! Our home was perhaps the nicest furnished and well-stocked home that we have stayed in (9 years running) at Sundance. What a great experience we had with Stewart Mountain Lodging! We were in the Wee Cottage for the 4th of July weekend. We were greeted with a very clean, well kept, nicely stocked, and beautifully situated cottage in the woods! The company checked in on us to make sure we had made it in fine and that everything was going well for our stay! They offered their expertise in the area if we had any questions or needed anything! The area has plenty of outdoor experiences to keep your inner adventurer awakened but the cottage is there for restorative grounding! We loved the hot tub, huge deck, fireplace, bbq grill, outdoor fire pit, well appointed kitchen, glacier stream, comfy bed, and on and on! Had the pleasure of staying in The Hidden Forest Cabin with Stewart Mountain Lodging. Everything about this cabin was wonderful, the staff was very accommodating to our needs and Customer Service was on point. The Cabin was upgraded in so many ways to say it was beautiful couldn't describe it enough. I highly recommend staying here, we were down on business but it made our stay so much more comfortable than a hotel. It snowed our last days there and it was so amazing to see before we came back to California. read more

Best place to stay! My sister and I rented this amazing cabin, it is snuggled among the beautiful trees and you can hear the creek-which is soothing. The things we loved about this cabin are: 1-Perfect location 2-The cabin is very clean and well stocked 3-There is a hummingbird feeder and we just loved to watch them come by all day. 4-HOT TUB! What a great treat after a day of hiking, robes were provided, which was a nice touch. 5-Wyatt and Carol were amazing, they gave us great information on hikes and made sure our stay was perfect! We stayed at Mandan Knoll and had a private deck and hot tub. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud and they had all the utensils and amenities you could ever need. This was a beautiful place to watch my son marry his bride, and they decorated to make it even more beautiful. They had guests come for their special day from California, Texas, and Ohio. Unfortunately, my daughter-in-law received a phone call from the owner 30 minutes before the ceremony, while they were in the middle of getting pictures taken, asking her about food and alcohol licenses and permits, nothing of which was mentioned in the contract. She was also questioned about the amount of people who would be attending and drinking alcohol. The guest list was under the amount of maximum allowed, which is part of the reason they selected this place. As if stressing them out prior to the ceremony wasn't enough, the owners proceeded to lurk and drive by, as if babysitting, the rest of our time there. Maybe it's their only source of income and they have nothing better to do, I can't think of any other reason for this type of behavior? This was supposed to be one of the happiest days of their lives and it saddens me that the owners couldn't just stay away. They rented it to them, signed a contract, and should've left us be. So please reconsider if you want to rent this place, it's not worth the stress. Also, they failed to shut the sprinklers off and when we were setting up all the chairs, they came on and soaked them! It is a beautiful spot, but there are lots of other beautiful spots in Utah. Don't waste your time or money on this one. read more

We stayed in the Black Forest Ridge Home in Sundance, UT. There were 8 people in our group, 4 couples. The home was advertised as 4 king ensuite bedrooms and 1 queen ensuite. ( They have since changed the description) When we arrived there were only 3 king ensuite bedrooms, and the queen ensuite room is only accessible through the king bedroom that is not ensuite. Much worse than that, two of the king bedrooms share an open ceiling and window. So neither room is private. You can hear absolutely everything. Plus, the light in one room will light up the other. So that obviously would not work and one couple stayed in the queen bedroom. So to get into the main house every day it was only accessible through the outside. So if you are planning on staying in sundance to ski, come winter that will be very difficult. They also have a camera monitoring you outside on the deck pointed right at the table. All of that being said, Wyatt was very kind and did what he could to discount the house. The owner gave us a $200 discount per night. They also offered to move us the next day. So they tried to be accommodating. I think Stewart Mountain Lodging was nice to work with, so hopefully their other homes are nice to rent. But unless you are a family that is ok with such shared space, I would not recommend this home. read more

My wife and I spent two nights in the Storybook Stone Cottage, on the way back from a road trip from the San Francisco bay area to Fort Collins, CO. We decided to insert this break in our itinerary to relax from the road and take in Sundance, and we are so pleased that we did. The area next to Mt. Timpanogos in North Fork canyon is phenomenally beautiful, and this little cabin sited right on the creek is a work of art, inside and out. We elected to pick up groceries in Orem and cook our meals in the well appointed kitchen, with its windows just a few feet from the creek. It was such a pleasure cooking in this space. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a good selection of spices and condiments in the cupboards. Dining outdoors on the deck was so relaxing. Although the cabin is small and there is just the one bathroom, we kept thinking about how much our kids would have enjoyed staying here back when they were younger. In addition to the two main bedrooms, the loft and the "birdhouse" across the creek from the main cabin are both set up for sleeping. We lounged around in our pajamas until noon both mornings. It was a good thing that we had scheduled a zip line tour at Sundance Resort (a short walk from the cabin) or we might have missed the amazing views of Mt. Timp and the surrounding area. It was pretty great just hanging around though. Thanks to Ali and Wyatt for being super helpful and making us feel so welcome and comfortable. We would love to return someday, hopefully for a longer stay! read more

My family had the pleasure of staying at Stewart Mountain Lodging's Stewart Heights property in Sundance. Eight of us were very comfortable in 4 bedrooms. The beds were fabulous! The home was really lovely with great linens, beautiful quilts and rugs, cozy fireplaces, spectacular views, a well-appointed kitchen (two, in fact) and a hot tub. I do not want to tell you about Sundance and Stewart Mountain Lodging. I am terrified of the day I call Vicky or Aly or Wyatt and ask for a reservation and they say, "sorry there's nothing available" because all of you have discovered this corner of the universe like no other. Sundance has no glitz, no towers, nothing inauthentic. It's a western wooden low rise with a couple places to get great food and a few lifts that take you to some beautiful skiing. And there are homes to rent for any and all price points. Stewart has everything you need for an incredible family vacation, a personal touch that makes you feel part of the family. It's a 20 minute ride to quaint Midway for a meal or to less quaint Heber or Orem, and 45 minutes to booming Park City where you can see and do anything you want. But we didn't want any of that. One stop at awesome Harmon's market in Orem and we and another family shared Lookout Pointe, the best view in Utah and skied and cooked and hung out and had the retreat we all need. Please consider Sundance for your GET AWAY and please call the incredible people at Stewart. Guaranteed goodness. read more

WOW! My little family (daughter-15 and husband) really had a fabulously magical time, staying at the Storybook Stone Cottage recently! The professional kitchen was really well stocked for some great cooking...we hot tubbed by the babbling creek while wild turkeys pecked their way across the whimsical stone bridge! Our teenager watched movies from the stand alone 2nd floor cottage--equipped with it's own heater and snuggly bed! I think we had a fire going almost 24/7 and never ran out of wood!! We walked along a panoramic road for hikes and also to have a yummy breakfast @ Sundance Resort's restaurant on our last morning--truly Idyllic and loved by the whole family! On our next visit, we may even bring Gram cuz there's room! read more

The whole staff were excellent in answering all my questions and concerns when trying to choose which property for my diverse group. My husband and I splurged to have a few nights in the mountains before a conference in Salt Lake City. We do quite a bit of traveling and have stayed in some amazing places and this is one of our favorites of all time. Wyatt, who manages the property, was super cool. He hooked us up with maps and directions for a perfect hike up to Stewart Falls (which we could access by walking right out our front door). He also showed us how to access another spot (only available to renters) down the mountain next to a babbling brook with another tipi and amazing party area. He was very helpful. I am a graphic designer so I was gaga over the way this place is decorated - very graphic. I loved it. The hot tub rocked and is below the house so we felt protected. I got some great photos of the wild sunflowers growing all around the property. Beautiful. We had a hilarious experience while at the cottage. We bought a giant homemade chocolate chip cookie to have for later and set it on the bar counter in the kitchen next to the window. A few hours later I went to get the cookie and it was gone. We were supposed to share it so I was not too happy with my husband, but he denied taking it. Next thing you know we see a little squirrel skittering around the front porch. My husband made a funny comment about the critter taking it, but the cookie was bigger than he (or she) was! I go back into the kitchen and inspect the area and see a tiny little hole in the screen. Funny thing is, there's no ledge or anywhere to perch on the outside of the window. This little squirrel must have been hanging on with his little claws nibbling away at the screen to get that giant cookie. Meanwhile my husband shouts that he found the plastic wrap in the yard. I turn around and THERE's THE SQUIRREL! Inside the house staring me down in the kitchen demanding another cookie!!! Ha ha ha! I got a blurry pic before he ran off! We closed the window and he came peeking around a few more times then we didn't see him again. Gave a great laugh! read more

We were so incredibly impressed with this company. We rented the Creekside Cabin this past weekend and, unfortunately, the power was out! We arrived to Vicki and Aly, who had made a fire for us and explained the situation. As is usual in these cases, many things were out of their control, but they were adamant that they would be in touch with updates. Once the power was out for a couple more hours, we touched base. Long story short, we were moved to a slightly larger and more expensive cabin nearby for no additional cost (Fox Hollow)! Also, they provided us with the best little arrival basket of artisan bread, jam, and homemade lollipops; this really saved us as we were moved around dinner time and we were all STARVING! It was our daughter's fourth birthday and they easily made it the best birthday that she has ever had. I don't know how to thank them enough for their professionalism, hospitality, and adaptability except to say that we will find another excuse to come visit in any one of their exceptional properties. Your money is well-spent at this company. The properties (since we had the opportunity to see two of them!) are pristine and the service is second to none. Book and ENJOY! read more

My family - all 8 of us - came from California and Florida to stay at one of the private homes managed by Stewart Mountain Lodging. What a great time! We stayed in Aspen Ridge, a beautiful house up the hill from the Sundance Resort, that had 4 1/2 full bedrooms but was fully capable of sleeping twelve when you consider the couches. A fully-equiped kitchen, 5 fireplaces, a living room with a sweeping view of the surrounding mountons, and a steaming hot-tub located on the porch. On a clear, cold night, the tub was great! This was the best Thanksgiving yet for us, all together in Utah. Thanks Brad, Vickie, Wyatt and Alex for great service and a perfect place. read more

We loved being able to escape from our crazy lives for the weekend! The cabin was the perfect size for our getaway with friends and had everything we needed to relax, including a sauna! It was so fun to go on the little hikes and be so close to nature, our 2 year old loved all the different plants. We enjoyed relaxing after a long day in the hot tub and seeing so many more stars than in the city. We cannot wait until we can get back to our "Hillside Hideaway"!! read more

Wow! I have really considered and re-considered submitting this review because I don't relish it. But I am still stinging from my Christmas 2016 cabin rental experience. I rented 4 nights at Conifer Creek cabin for $4000. All 6 of us moved in all of our stuff on a snowy afternoon, including decorating the Xmas tree. An odd odor prevailed and worsened over the next hours. In the meantime I had bought 3 Sundance lift passes online. I called SML and reported the odor. They sent staff over who quickly saw that the septic line was leaking inside a wall downstairs. SML proposed I exercise patience until the next day when the problem could be addressed. Then they told me that I was entitled to two free skiing passes per day! Too late as I had purchased on line an hour earlier! That night I could smell the stench in my loft bedroom and my guests were distressed. Late that night I texted SML to move me to another residence in the morning. At 8:00am the next day, SML called and directed me to their Stewart Heights residence. So we packed up everything again and moved. While the 2nd residence was wonderfully located and larger for us, the kitchen lacked proper utensils, pots and pans. We needed more towels. The kitchen sink had no hot water and there seemed to be a problem with all of the bathroom faucets. I think SML has Stewart Heights available for folks like us who find their initial rental unviable. Bottom line---SML appears to have good intentions but they are short on upkeep of their properties, leaving their customers on the short end of the stick. I will not be back. read more
