That was until I went to see Maria at House of Bronze! Maria is amazing at what she does. She pays such close attention to detail, ensuring that you'll get the perfect tan every time. She's also super quick & never tries pressuring you into purchasing additional add ons, like so many other spray tan technicians do. I always get so many compliments when I get a spray tan from Maria; people are usually shocked when I tell them it's a spray tan, because of how natural it looks. When my pale self first walked in here I was very afraid of getting spray tanned and be orange and all that jazz. So I came a few days before because I had questions to ask. The girl at the front (I wish i remembered her name) was very helpful and put my doubts away. The day of the tan, there was a different girl working and she was also very helpful and explained everything and recommended some tips on how to make the tan last. Now onto the tan itself, I recommended getting a spray tan from here to everyone now! It looks good, and you do NOT look orange (if you get the right color). I always get the light (the options are low, light, medium, and dark) and I have never looked orange or had streaks. It does look a little darker on the pores around your body but it's hardly noticeable. Within hours of getting it your body will have uneven spots, and streaks and you will want to cry and scrub it away. DON'T! Wait the 6 hours to shower, and all the unevenness will wash away. The next day you will have a nice glow to yourself and not be pale (which is what I'm always aiming for). I frequent them for any "big" occasion I have to attend as my pet peeve is looking pale in pictures.

Here is the story, as I was out shopping one afternoon I was in a near by Beautyland ( which is awesome I will also be writing a review for them ) and I seen a young girl, with the darkest tan i have ever seen, being its only the beginning of April i knew it was fake. I asked her where she tanned, since I'm new to the area I'm still finding new places. she said TANTOPIA right down the street!! Awesome so I just had to check it out. Now being that I'm 27 years old I felt a little old pulling up, ekkkk, as there were about 4 little girls between the ages of 20-24, tan as can be with there poker straight hair and belly chains. The first girl greeted me behind the counter was named Krysta, I told her I never been to this salon and could she show me around? She was very polite and didn't huff and puff with an attitude that she had to do some work. Trust me, coming from New Orleans I'm used to this on a daily biases, she showed me pricing and all the beds. Now as she was filling me in I couldn't help but think these girls are soooooo tan EVERY SINGLE one of them. Got me thinking I NEVER see this outcome at Planet Beach, Hmmm whats the catch?????? and we are not talking the crazy orange tan I have pics to prove- its a deep brown tan. So these two lay down beds they have, called Lotus / Classic 600 is like nothing I NEVER seen before!! They were huge like double the size of planet beach. they have different settings, you can lower the intensity of all the bulbs not just facial. I paid $14 for one session, I'm not a student so no discount. I would have to say the prices are very reasonable $44 per month (for the lay down spaceship beds, they do have cheaper prices for stand ups but I don't stand up, I have a hard enough time getting up)BUT she says your locked in for three months, that's nothing! They also have Mystic Tan at $15 a pop uber cheap. There gratefulness doesn't end there, as I was so excited to get home and Yelp about this location I left my $ 900 Movado watch in the room!!!!!! My heart sank as it had been a few hours before I finally realized, being from NOLA I have no trust in folks at all. I thought there is NO-WAY that watch is still there so feeling like a JACKASS, I decided to call just to see. What do you know? The girl that was tanning after me turned it in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it. I was sooooooo thrilled, I wanted to leave a reward as I was rummaging thru my wallet the little girl says what are you doing????? were not going to take your money, but I insisted, she could have easily kept my watch and sell it on eBay!!! She insited that's nice of you but no, were not going to accept it. Now these are young girls we are talking about! Very proper and mature. I will definitely be going back, not to mention from one tanning session, I'm tanner than if I were to tan the whole month somewhere else. The only cons I would point out is if you are older you may feel over the hill, stick with Planet Beach. Now this is one of the best tanning salons I have found in my area. I cannot wait to go back. One more thing, there is this amazing tanning lotion by Australian Gold Krystal or Crystal ( not sure of the spelling) Planet Beach sells this item for $120.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anne was very professional and I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I was able to schedule an appointment. She came to my apartment and set up her equipment (a pop up tent, fan, airbrush machine). The tan only took maybe 30 minutes tops to complete (2 coats). Anne was so friendly and sweet and made me feel very comfortable (despite the fact I was almost naked in front of her, lol). She sprayed my whole body including my face, and the morning after, she texted me directions after of how to rinse off and shower with the tan. I am so happy with the results!!
