I could truely go on and on, but actually I suggest you get your butt to this place and enjoy a long weekend with our without a special event. (note they do weddings here so it books up!). Just go. Go for the breakfasts, go for the dinners, go and ask Stan for some house-smoked meats! Seriously, these people are amazing, the space is special, and the complete quiet (and darkness at night) are a wonderful relief. Note: Cell signal is poor at best. Wifi is available, but really...don't do it, unplug for a few days.

We were traveling with our two children and chose the inn because it appeared to be a traditional New England property in a convenient location. Condition of the Property: The building and interiors appear not to have been updated in decades. Much of the furniture, fixtures, and decor looked extremely worn and outdated. Rather than feeling historic or charming, the property felt neglected. Cleanliness: Several areas of the inn appeared poorly maintained and not particularly clean, which made it difficult to relax in the room or common areas. Management Interaction: Our interaction with the manager, Stan, was uncomfortable. He came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the stay feel even more awkward. Overall Atmosphere: The general condition of the building was unsettling enough that our children were actually frightened and asked if we could leave and stay somewhere else. While the location could be appealing, the property seems to need significant updates, improved upkeep, and a more welcoming approach to guests.

The website says there is a private beach, but that may be outdated because the owner only had a pass to the local public beach which was on the other side of the lake. Though it was a little hairy getting all the way to the 3rd floor with itty bitty stairs on the staircase from the 2nd to 3rd floors. Room #8, was small, but spacious and extremely comfortable. Its been a long time since I slept on such a comfortable bed and that includes sleeping on my own bed! The Inn has free WiFi, and nice common area sitting rooms. The dining room was nice and they have printed menus which you fill out each night so breakfast can be prepared for you the next morning. Dennis and Roberta are so friendly, as is Vicki who is the housekeeper and assists with breakfast in the morning. They run a great B&B and I look forward to future visits when I'm back in the area for another reunion or visit to the college. Highly recommend you making a reservation at this lovely B&B, right off the highway and within 3 miles of New London, close to Sunapee and skiing and Sunapee Harbor. A great location, and a great place to stay!!

The innkeeper was very friendly and personable and I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the area. The main building has four guest quarters on the second floor. We had a HUGE room complete with sitting area, large windows and a spacious adjoining bathroom. The rest of the main building consisted of a large entry room, receiving room with lots of Vermont products for sale, kitchen, dining, game room, and a larger family type room. The whole house was surrounded by deep wrap around porches. There is also a cottage with two additional guest quarters, barns, a screened gazebo, a swimming pond full of frogs, horses, and some additional outbuildings. The property backs up to Quechee Gorge. Breakfast was different and very tasty each day. The first day was a spinach and egg dish, served with granola, fruit, coffee and yogurt. The second day was stuffed baked french toast with the same accompaniments. The innkeeper made reservations for us for dinner the second night we were there, just another great touch. The decor of the rooms was a little more modern than most B&Bs and I rather enjoyed it. Our room was outfitted with two nice leather chairs with ottomans, a substantial king sized bed with white, red and black linens, and some interesting artwork (little pewter and copper figurines on a shelf, etc). Such a nice time, I think we will splurge next summer at full price to get a weekend away here.

But we truly enjoyed each handcrafted breakfast in this beautiful historic home including beautiful fruit starters, baked fritatas, homemade muffins and wonderful service by Stan. We learned they also serve dinner and brunch. Our dinner last night was wonderful. We had locally made cider that impressed my British husband and the dinner was fresh and made with care. I had Chicken Kiev and my husband the blackened Salmon both served with the vegetable of the night tender roasted Brussels sprouts and light and fluffy mashed potatoes. We had indulged while we were out so did not go for the appetizers or beet salad that looked amazing. We chose to have some wonderfully prepared aperitifs rather than desert and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The attentive service, warm fireplace, beautiful room made our meal perfect. This morning I remembered to take pictures of the brunch which blew me away. Again the food was great: perfectly cooked frittata this time with ricotta and mushrooms, tender scalloped potatoes lightly enhanced by a lovey cheesy sauce, French toast served with maple cream, and the best corn chowder I've ever had. Come try the food even if you have other accommodations. It's a wonderful place to relax and enjoy some wonderful food in a beautiful historic inn with a lovely property.

Pros: Great price for size of room Comfy beds Nice common rooms areas Right next to Mt Sunapee The staff around was very nice and tried to help but seemed overwhelmed (can't blame them) Got a discount for future stay due to some of our concerns (couldn't move rooms, kids pranking) but still didn't feel sufficient Cons: Chaos with kids running around late into night and no real help with limited staff Curfew of 10pm is ridiculously late especially for folks trying to wake up early to get to mountain Rooms 104 and 105 are a nightmare across from the kid play rooms -- so loud and tons of screaming. We stayed for Valentine's weekend (3 nights), and it was like being welcomed into someone's mansion. The place is beautiful even in the winter snow. The accommodations are like stepping back in time, but with some modern amenities as well. The bed was a four poster antique replica with the most dreamy mattress. The in-room electric fireplace was nice within our spacious room (junior suite). Having Andy greet us every morning at breakfast was lovely, and the plated meal was delicious. We also enjoyed a bottle of wine and some food in the pub. An added bonus was entertainment one night by a talented duo. Recommendations for outside the Inn dining was provided by Andy along with some "must see things" as well. It was very nice "stepping into the historic past" at this beautiful Inn. A slow pace and a relaxing wood fire in the lobby was just what our weekend called for. We're planning to go back in warmer weather to see the grounds in all their glory and experience what other seasons have for visitors.
