My buddy was in town this past weekend and we decided to play a round of golf. I have been out here in AZ for almost 2 years now, and still hadn't played any golf. Damn shame if you ask me ;-) lol. Anyways....I signed up online for a tee time on their website for a 3 some (me, my buddy and his wife) at 7:07am on Saturday. 18 holes was only $13.00. Price goes up as the weather gets nicer ($18.00 during Winter months, $24.00 during Spring months, and they even have an annual pass for $680.00). Pull carts are available to rent for only $2.00! We got some tees, some drinks ($1.00 Gatorades and $.75 cent waters. Never seen beverages so cheap at a pro shop before!) a pull cart and were on our way out to the course. The guy in the pro shop was incredibly friendly btw.
This is a par 3 course. The layout is pretty easy to follow. The first 9 holes are rather easy to navigate and not incredibly hard. Some sand traps and that's about it. The back 9 holes on the other hand, were way more challenging! Water everywhere! I love to play, but I am not any good. Lost a couple of balls in the drink! The course is pretty well kept up and the greens were in good shape. The only negative I could think of was the stupid geese that inhabit part of the course. Nothing worse than trying to avoid walking through landmines of geese shit. Seriously, what are geese good for? They are mean, shit everywhere, and aren't even that pretty to look at. Anyways........
Overall, I had a blast! Me and my buddy wound up with the same score for the day. I was pretty tired by the end of the round. Even though it wasn't super hot (compared to normal July Phoenix weather), 3.5 hours out in the sun will tire you out no matter what. Stay hydrated and have fun! My first round in AZ was a success! This was one of the nicer, and most challenging par 3 courses I have played at in quite some time! I will definitely be back! read more
