My neighbor used them in the past but decided not because of the prices are TOO high. Their prices are commercial prices, no longer for the common residential customers. I would think with having all of their resources of materials it would be a savings for the customer but no more. read more

These people are only interested in the big dollar client. They upsell you to things you don't need but if you say no, they put you last on the list for any application or service you are signed up for. And they have no customer service. Call them and you will be told that someone will call you back but it never happens. Don't use these guys - they're only in it for the money. read more

Sun Valley just installed mulch in all my plating beds and they have never looked better! They not only re-edged them, but they cleaned out all the leaves and debris that had accumulated over the winter and put own fertilizer/weed preventative. Could not be happier! Plus they are very responsive to calls and emails, unlike most places. read more

Sun Valley has done a lot of work at my house. Last year, they installed a "Dodge Street Paver" (old brick) patio in my back yard. They also replaced a retaining wall with natural stone and poured some new concrete steps. This year, I had them come out and mulch my flower beds. I was surprised how cheap it was to have someone else do some of the parts of gardening that i'm not fond of. Sun Valley also has a huge yard that is open to the public. They have a large variety of stones and landscaping supplies... different types of mulch in bulk. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's great when you can ask a question to a person who has actually done the same type of project that you are going to embark upon. read more

My wife and I have never really done much with landscaping. This year we finally addressed our really bad front yard. With a huge tree, all the shade it cast makes it hard to grow anything. Grass was really more dirt. We paid to have a lot of rock moved it, but the project, although a big improvement, needed a bit more. We needed some border rocks. We looked at a couple high profile places, but were not happy with what we found. Then we discovered Sun Valley Landscaping. They have an impressive lot with many choices. The gentleman we talked to was very friendly and helpful. While there, we noticed a stone bench set up there. We asked about it, expecting it to be way out of our price range. Well it was very affordable. We purchased this, along with the needed rocks. It was delivered and set up today. We love it!! Everyone we worked with were friendly and helpful. They did not talk down to us, even though our budget was very modest. The gentleman who did the delivery and set-up was great, and the word great is not good enough to describe him. After reading so many good reviews, I was persuaded to hire Sun Valley to do a small hardscape in my backyard - stone stairway and flagstone at the top and bottom of stairs, and for shrub relocations in the yard. After calling in April, it took several weeks to get anyone to come out to give me an estimate. When I finally got an estimate, it was too hot to do the shrub relocation, but I had had a friend do the sod removal in the areas where the stairway was to be installed. I had asked for estimates based on two or three different substrates - limestone, preformed concrete, and one of their own choices. There was to be a flagstone area at the top of the stairs, extending across the width of an existing concrete pad, and a flagstone area at the base of the stairs. The stairs were to be flanked by a mulched garden bed on one side and river rock on the other, and there was to be a continuation of an adjacent downspout beneath the flagstone deck at at the top of the stairs. The estimate I got did not include any options for the materials I had asked for and no details as to how they would be constructed. Nevertheless, we agreed to a price, and the work was to be done in late June. Then I got notice that it would be done the first week in July. Then I got a notice that it would be done the second week in July. Then the third week in July. I was then told that they didn't have enough material to do the job on hand and would have to wait two more weeks. The day the workers were supposed to show up, they didn't. And I asked about the materials for the downspout extension under the flagstone and was treated VERY badly for even asking. It had been something I'd originally asked for and assumed it was in the rather vague estimate, but was told I was lying or misremembering and that it would cost an additional $400. I thought then I should cancel the job, but a nice fellow (who is no longer there now) convinced me to pay a $150 extra for the downspout/drainage PVC pipe, and I agreed. The crew did finally show up the next day. They were very nice and worked hard. However, the stairway they installed looked nothing like what I'd agreed to, and they neither finished the flagstone at the top nor even had any flagstone for the base of the stairway. I had to go buy that myself from a stone/rock place and install it myself. To top everything off, they ended up not using one of the stone stair pieces, which they charge $250 for, and I was basically expected to eat the cost of that. No one called to find out if the job had been done to my satisfaction, no one inquired whether it was done correctly. It was not. I was treated rudely and made to feel like I was lucky they even bothered with my job. I'm not wealthy. It wasn't a big job. It obviously was not a priority for Sun Valley. But I saved for months and months in order to do this, and was treated very badly throughout and overcharged, and I don't even have the stairway I had hoped for. I would not recommend hiring them. read more

Update: I didnt even have to call the manager when a week later, the crews came out and destroyed all my excess grass growing under my deck, in my 'rocks' and around my A/C. They knew what needed done and they did it - even if it was a week or two after when I preferred. They are doing a good job! read more

We ordered sand from Sun Valley Landscaping. When we called in the order we told them that the sand could not have any rocks or similar material as it was for the bottom of a pool with a liner. They said there sand would not contain any rocks. When the sand was delivered it had big pieces of limestone in it. Our pool contractor spent time picking out as much of the pieces that they could, but we ended up ordering sand from another company. The sand we got from the other company was exactly what we were looking for. We should have went with them instead of Sun Valley Landscaping as we ended up paying for the sand twice. We have a big landscaping project coming up and will not be using Sun Valley because if we can't trust them to tell us correctly about the sand, how could we trust them to answer any of our other questions correctly. read more

I had mowing service for about a month while my husband was deployed. Not only were they nearly a week late with the first mow, leaving my yard a jungle, but their quotes were incorrect. I was quoted $25 for spring clean up and I was charged $40. They claimed this was due to more work being required than initially thought. Maybe because my yard hadn't been mowed for two weeks, through no fault of my own? Also, the spring clean up was to include a hard edge around all flower beds. Not one of my flower beds, front or back yard, was hard edged. They also managed to mow down part of my rose bushes. They also neglected to include the military discount with every billing. I'm not one to beg for a military discount, but hey, if you're going to offer it so I hire you over someone else, I'll take it. To not include in it every subsequent billing is careless at best or deceptive at worst. They also mowed again after our contract was up and I had hired a replacement mower, and sent me the bill, but at least they comped it when I brought this to their attention. However, they apparently didn't fix it in the system, so I just got a paper bill in the mail stating my bill is over due. Up until this point, I was annoyed, but not enough to write a review. Well, three screwed up bills later after only a month of service, I am sufficiently annoyed to write a review detailing my experience so that you might know what you're in for. Josiah was always plenty friendly on the phone and got the issues mostly dealt with, but they were issues that made me want to not work with this company any more. EDIT: After my review was posted here, Ashly (the Director of Business Development) did reach out to me to try to correct what was wrong. She offered to replace my damaged rose bush, but I declined as they are fairly large and any replacement would probably look worse than the current one that is missing a couple branches. She did state the the "hard edge" included in the spring clean up is only around hard surfaces like sidewalk and driveways, not flower beds. I will still say I never had the "hard edge" done around these in my yard either, as I don't really consider weed whacking along the edges of the sidewalk "hard edging." She sent out some coupons to apologize for my billing errors, but it still took this review to have the issue looked into. Hopefully they got it figured out so it doesn't affect other customers. read more
