We recently used Heartland Lawns for our sprinkler system repairs after moving into our new house. I found them based on a few neighbors using the company for their lawn care and now I can see why. First, their office staff (or at least the one answering the phones) was amazing. She was happy to answer the various questions I had before booking my appointment, and when she didn't know the answer to one, she sent me to a technician in the field to give me specifics. I can't think of the last time a company did that for me. Second, once the technician arrived for the appointment, he walked through the yard with me explaining everything he saw before getting to work. I really appreciated him taking the time to educate me on the issues we were having (a few more than I realized), but also saved me a few bucks by showing me how to do some adjustments on my own for the future. He definitely didn't have to take that much time, but it really went above and beyond for me. Lastly, communication and billing was and is very straightforward. Their website makes it easy to do everything online once you have an account with them. Bad business. Their crew did not service my entire lawn and I called to have them come back out. They were not supposed to charge me and yet they did. I decided to end my services because I did not see a difference in my yard. They cut off my ability to pay my bill and then kept sending me threatening letters about the bill. Called for clarification, she said she would call back and never did. Received another nasty letter about collections so I called again. No rectification or anything from Esther, my first treatment was supposed to be free and they ended up having me pay for it. I have integrity so I paid the bill I should not have had to pay. It is disappointing company's are not about service anymore, just money hungry. Do not recommend this business. If they tell you the first application is on them, they will renege. read more

Great lawn company for all your needs and weeds! I used them for aerating and overseed, which cost me $100 total for double aeration and overseed for my front and backyard (small yards). Customer service was great. Due to a miscommunication, they only did the front yard, but when I called, they immediately returned to accomplish the backyard as well. They move appointments and DON'T communicate with the customer. The customer service team puts in notes on the order, but the techs not read them or don't see them. This has caused multiple issues. What happen to communication - if you are moving an appointment I would suggest calling the customer to inform them. Especially if they have had issues in the past with your company. read more

If I could give a zero star rating I would. We spent over $18,000 on our backyard. Heartland came out in September 2020 and put in landscaping as well as a poured stamped concrete patio (stained and sealed) It was beautiful! In November, I noticed a small crack in the patio. I didn't think a lot of it because it is the Midwest and cracks happen. However they finished our patio and our backyard in September. I wouldn't think we would see cracks less than two months later. We waited until February to see what the crack looked like after the winter months. Well, bad news, the crack was all the way to our foundation. We called and someone came out to look at the patio. They agreed to replace it since it had was stamped, stained and and sealed. We did not believe it would match the color if they just patched it which was a big deal since the patio wasn't even six months old at that point. Jason sent Eric the contractor for the concrete and his crew out to replace the concrete. Worst experience ever! Not only did they get concrete splatter all over the back of our house and our windows which are much higher level than the concrete since we have a deck with three steps to get to the concrete, They dumped concrete in our grass, in our flowerbeds and they left the plywood down on our yard long enough that it completely killed a very large section of our grass. And they damaged our deck removing the old pad. I was mortified. I called Jason who did come out and promised to get everything taken care of... This was the end of June. We are now mid July, Jason as well as Heartland has ghosted us. No calls No repairs Nothing To top it all, we have a crack in the concrete pad they just poured, stamped, stained and sealed in June 2021. We will be taking care of all of the fixes ourselves and we will seal they already "sealed" concrete patio again so that the crack doesn't spread. I showed several of my neighbors the work that Heartland has done or has not done, Oddly enough no one was really surprised several comments were "they are just too big". I'm not sure how they received Best in Omaha so many years in a row but they will not be getting a vote for me! I have warned all of our neighbors on our Facebook page as well as anyone who talks about doing landscaping. I hope word-of-mouth is worth what it used to be and I hope that Heartland Lawns realizes this is not how you take care of customers. read more

Bad bad company. Do not use under any circumstances. Asked for a simple call ahead due to having 5 dogs and wanted to know when to keep them off the lawn. They removed the call ahead and showed up without notification after I did not sign up for another year. I have used Heartland lawns for the previous 2 years (I think, at least last year for sure) and overall was happy with all aspects of their company from services received, to billing to phone call related needs. I called about 7-10 days ago to request a preemergent treatment. I was informed by a lady that those treatments would begin around mid April. I have seen a couple of my neighbors receive theirs already. I mowed 2 days ago and pulled 4 dandelions, so weeds starting to show, rain in the forecast this week. I purchased and applied my own. I called today to cancel services and was asked my reason for canceling. I explained the timing and that weeds already appearing. I was surprised to have been told the preemergent works better once weeds start to appear. I said there are preemergent and post emergent products and I wasn't going to argue but sure didn't think a preemergent would do any good once weeds popped up. Now perhaps I misunderstood and what she was trying to say is they dont have good luck with preemergent so they just apply a post emergent? In any event, I was disappointed to not be able to receive a service as Ive seen their trucks treating others yards in my neighborhood already. After I had a surgery and was unable to fertilize and do weed control, I hired heartland, now my yards has more weeds then ever before, looks terrible and may take me 2 years to get it back to where it was when I did it. Have no choice but to use them as they are part of my homeowner association dues. 4th year in my villa. Always an issue with them staining my new driveway. I've made them aware on 3 occasions. I've resigned myself to the fact that they won't concern themselves with that. Never had a real problem with weeds, but this year has been ridiculous. Unfortunately, our services with this company came to an abrupt stop. This is due to the lack of professional hiring on the plumbing aspect of the company regarding their irrigation services. A company whose primary goal is to place the blame on the homeowner and not the individuals they hired to get the job done should be out of business. Many sexist references were used towards my family members while negotiations were being dealt with regards to planning and the eventual lack of showing up to the job when planned on. I had high hopes for this company due to positive reviews and accreditation only to find a waste of time. Do not use this company for their irrigation services by any means necessary. Dave, who is the irrigation head manager, when prompted for a solution to a failed plumbing setup a week prior to installation, told us we can give you a refund and solved no issue. But of course, this is all my opinion on the services and impressions we received. read more

We purchased a small Landscaping project for $2600.00 from this company. Low budget plants were placed at the end of the summer. NO grass/weed barrier was installed and almost immediately we had grass growing all over the landscaping area. We reached out and spoke with the landscaping manager. (Carrie/Cassie) she let me know Heartland offers NO warranty on their plants. She obviously hasn't read their contract which clearly states a year warranty. She also asked if we had purchased their maintenance package. Unfortunately, as a customer we were not advised adding grass/weed barrier is an additional expense which must be written in their estimate. This might be an important thing to discuss as a professional landscaping business with your customers. I reached out to the owner Dan and sent pictures. He let me know he would call back, and didn't. After calling the company back, I heard from the designer Brittney who quoted an additional $370.00 expense to add the weed barrier I expected with this project. Heartland Lawn promotes customer satisfaction drives this company, yet clearly wouldn't even respond or come look at the project they did for us. When you search for companies that stand behind their work and products, you might want to look further. Don't forget to discuss grass/weed barrier! This company charges extra for this. read more

I had an issue with Heartland Lawns over the summer regarding my dissatisfaction with the quality of service provided on our lawn. I voiced my concerns and asked for a discount on one of my services, but did not hear back from the account manager. After a few months, I escalated my concerns to the BBB and heard back from the owner per my request. He was very reasonable and understanding of my concerns. My poor lawn had been ravaged by grubs, my new dog, and fungus. It was time to renovate the poor thing. After trying to get the lawn aerated by another company for more than three weeks, I called up Heartland Lawns. They were immediately responsive, sending someone out to give me an estimate within 24 hours. The estimate was reasonable, and they were able to come out 2 days later to punch holes all over my raggedy-looking grass. They did an awesome job, too. Due to the placement of the sprinkler heads and some monstrous elderberry bushes, some parts of my lawn are kind of hard to reach. They prevailed, though, fighting back the elderberry bushes and maneuvering around the sprinkler heads to ensure that my yard was consistently aerated. I followed up by doing the slicing and seeding on my own. I would recommend Heartland Lawns as a company that does good work and has excellent customer service. read more

Although a totally unnecessary expense, Heartland Lawns can transform almost any ho-hum lawn into a pinnacle of neighbor lawn envy. The price per application in their annual six-step program is a little steep, but it beats taking time to do it yourself and saves on storing product in your garage. I had never used a lawn care company before, but seemed to have less and less time to do anything other than mow my large corner lot. I had seen other lawns in my neighborhood treated by Heartland, so decided to try it out. I could not be more satisfied with the way my lawn looks. All I have done myself is aerated, seeded, and, of course, mowed. When my lawn was bombarded by a surprise bloom of dandelions between the second and third application, I called Heartland, and they sent someone out to spray the next day, and that service call was free of charge. Their friendly customer service folks are very helpful and responsive. You can either pay up front for the annual program, or they simply leave an invoice on your front door when they're done with each application. They also offer aeration, perimeter pest control, and other services for an additional charge, in case you want them to handle everything for your lawn. read more

We like heartland lawns and have used them for a number of years now. Overall, their pricing is better than a lot of places in Omaha and they keep our yard in a much better shape than if nothing was done at all. I would give them four stars except last year one of their pieces of equipment they use to aerate lawn's punched a hole in our fence. We understand that mistakes happen, but the issue was that when it happened we were not notified in any way. To me, that is a statement of integrity, you need to be upfront about these mistakes. We contacted heartland to make them aware of the issue, instead of the other way around. We appreciate that they remedied it but it still bothers us a bit. Customer service is just okay. The rates for standard services (fertilization/aeration/over seeding), are reasonable. But they are crazy expensive for landscaping and maintenance of said landscaping. Some of the plants they installed looked sad from day one. They said they would perk up but never did. They say it is heat stress due to our drought conditions. They never bothered calling before they come and do their work. We have a dog and a doggie door so she can run in and out during the day. The first time they came out, we didnt think much of it that they didnt call, but were a bit frustrated as we were concerned about our dog. The second time they came out to apply insecticide, didnt bother calling us to let us know they were coming out so we could keep our dog inside AND never called us afterwards to recommend we keep our dog inside to avoid the insecticide. I finally had to call them to put a note in our account that they need to call us prior to coming out, but that still should be a standard procedure as we have not had this issue with any other company we have worked with. Very, very frustrated and will likely not use their services after the year is up. read more

I tried getting help from the office and the owner Dan, and neither would contact me. They have an employee thats been there several years that is not honest or has any integrity. I understand after reading some of the reviews in their past there are several people that have questioned their integrity and lack of customer service. They are Best of Omaha winners for 12 years or more so you would assume they were a class act. I cannot say not to use them but be careful how much you trust them to take care of you and your needs. Last year we enrolled in Heartland Lawns annual 6-Step Turf Wellness Program. It consists of six applications of fertilizer and nutrients starting in March or April and continuing through October or November. The program is designed to make your grass green and plush and it hasn't failed us. We decided to hire them again this year. I'll gladly pay the $40 per month so I don't have to purchase, store, and apply the fertilizer. They come by, get the job done, and then leave a bill at the door. If you're looking for a quality lawn service, give Heartland a try. read more

I appreciate only having to think about fertilization, aeration, etc. once a year when I pay them - they take care of the rest! I called for a quote a week ago. Got the quote the very next day. Great. Spoke with my husband on it a little bit & he said he would take care of it. Nick from Heartland then called to ask if I had any questions. I explained my husband would handle it. I don't like phone calls but it was only one & a simple follow up so I get it. Then comes the email, followed by a call from Brock, followed by another 2 emails, & another call from Nick. I explain to Nick when we are ready we will call but I really don't like phone calls especially so many in a week. He promptly says well now that you've yelled at me. I didn't yell or even raise my voice. I was simply trying to tell the guy he was turning me off to Heartland Lawns. Now that he says I yelled at him I won't be giving them the business so that $1000 contract we had actually decided to move forward with will go some where else. This is my first year ever having a lawn service. My husband killed off a nice portion of our lawn last year with too much weed killer. Heartland gave us really great advice to start rebuilding our lawn and it is really coming around. We didn't expect much progress the first year, but it has been impressive!
