I used to love this place, but lately the quality and caliber of staff has declined. Used to be a great manager here, but I don't see her lately. Today I waited over 15 minutes for the only person working at the desk (while she tried to upsell and sign up a person for....... $8. ) I had to ask her if she could just check me in after 15 minutes - if there was another tanning option closer, I'd switch. I've been a monthly customer for 4 years. That's significant $$ in products and services, just to be ignored. I had to be rude to actually get service. This is the third time it has happened. Absolutely horrible of an establishment. I cannot fathom the way the manager treats her employees, giving dirty looks bossing them around as she sits in her office space. I obviously do not know about the behind the scenes, but from what I have seen I will not be bringing my business or money back to a place as disrespectful and disgusting. Even talking about her employees while they go to do a task in front of customers. I hope they fire her, because as far as i'm concerned not only did I get a half- processed spray tan from a broken booth that she wouldn't let me redo but I also got to witness the BS of this women. New to the area and looking for a new tanning spot. Wanted to try Sun Tan City. Stopped in for a single visit to see how I like it. Explained my situation to the counter girl, she first tried to sell me a year membership. Told her I wasn't interested in that as I have a pool, and before I sign up for anything that I would like to try a bed first. She said if I get two visits it would be $40. Then when I gave her my card she said 50 something. Then I told her I don't want to visit I would just like one single visit and she tried to charge me over $45. That price is ludicrous in my opinion. She didn't seem to want to go with my needs she just wanted to upsell me. Needless to say I left without trying their beds and I will not be back. read more

Wow I've been reading all the reviews and I did not have one problem at all the girls at the front desk were so helpful and pleasant and nice and smiling they didn't pressure me to buy any lotion I made the choice on my own the place was very very clean I did the bed first then I did the spray tan and I am very happy with my results I am from Malden Massachusetts and plan on driving all the way back up to ceiling New Hampshire just to go to this tanning salon instant results I give this place five stars read more

Terrible customer service...DO NOT GIVE THEM A CREDIT CARD TO KEEP ON FILE!! I have been a customer here for years. Paying for many months without a single visit. I have had two bad experiences here but will only outline my most recent. On May 20th, I decided to freeze my account due to COVID concerns. I tried calling customer service and could not reach anyone and the salon was still closed. I sent an e-mail to customer service instead. The following day I received a reply from a Victoria outlining the freeze benefit and asking if I needed any other assistance. However, I was still charged a monthly fee on June 1st. I contacted Victoria again, who was supposed to get back to me and never did. Due to the lack of attention and professionalism from the customer service at Suntan City, I had no choice but to contact my bank and dispute the charge. I supplied a copy of all of my e-mail correspondence and AMEX agreed with me. The charge should be credited. I learned just this week that there is still a balance due on my account. I went into the salon and was not able to be helped. At the salons suggestion, I called customer service and forwarded copies of the correspondence yet again. They wanted me to get a letter from my bank on bank letter head to clear my account. I refused to do this as I had already spent more time on this issue than I cared to. Leanne in customer service was supposed to call me back after speaking to a manager and never did. I give up!! If you choose to patronize this business my suggestion is to pay as you go. Do not give them your credit card on file. They obviously do not care about customer loyalty and will treat you as such. Horrible, horrible, horrible. My boyfriend and I just signed up for a monthly subscription to use the tanning beds two weeks ago and we are already done with the place. The place seems clean, that's not the issue. The customer service is. They are incredibly rude. You are supposed to call the salon before entering the building. I called as I parked and was walking toward the front of the building, the woman on the phone was very rude and told me I should only call when I'm standing out the front door, it is 6° outside. Once I got inside, the lady at the desk asked me what tanning lotion I was using and would literally argue with me that I need to use one every single time and to buy their lotions. After my tanning session, I walked out to the lobby and explained to the same woman that I was just going to make a quick phone call to see which store my boyfriend was in. (Salon is located in a plaza with a lot of stores). She says that they "don't have a waiting room" and I will have to make the phone call outside, once again it is 6° outside. After responding to her attitude, she allowed me to make the phone call but kept telling me over and over again it's policy. Her and I are literally the only ones in the entire lobby and I am standing far away from her. The first two times my boyfriend & I went TOGETHER, there was no issue taking us both in at the same time. But this last time they only allowed me and told him he could come in after? The rules change every time we are here. Cancelling my subscription & I would highly recommend finding a different salon. I completely understand Covid- I work in a restaurant and am no stranger to people arguing about policies. I want to respect your policy and make things go smoothly, but the unnecessary snappiness from the ladies is completely uncalled for. Can't say enough bad things about this place- there's a reason it's so cheap. I DO have to say that the beds are good and it seems clean but that truly doesn't matter when it comes to the service. I swear they only hire the RUDEST employees and you can NEVER just go in and tan. Every single time you walk in it's a whole up and down of them trying to sell you products and judging everything you say and do- I miss when going tanning was just signing up coming in tanning and leaving. This is the third time in a row I've been in that I've had issues with my membership. I come in well before close and they take forever to look into what's going on with my membership and then when they tell me they can't do anything to help me they THEN tell me they won't tan me because it's "too late" and "cooperate won't let them" when they told me when I came in that they would tan me, and they want ME to call client services and fix the problem before I come back in. I have a new baby and can't just come in whenever it's most convenient for them. So displeased with this service! I have been going to sun tan city for about a year now, I went in today because I saw on the website that 2 spray tans were $15, and they had told me that I could not get one because apparently I have to have parent consent, and since I'm only 15 I'd have to have my leagal guardian come in with me every time I get a spray tan, but I had gotten a spray tan 2 weeks ago, and did not have a parent with me and it's never been a problem before, but for some reason they were saying that today. read more

I paid for a 50% off membership since the pandemic and have recently received a couple of emails over the past few weeks that they would be opening up. This was the worst experience of my life. Because of it I seriously didn't want to go tanning anymore. I checked in on the app and came at the time I was supposed to tan. Modern equipment they offer hydration for before your spray tan which is cool. However the spray tan was non existent. I got medium (I usually get light) once I washed off the spray tan after 10 hours (like I was instructed to) I was completely pale and back to my normal shade of white. Pretty disappointed. I've been fencing around whether or not to give this place a review and decided I'd throw in my 2 cents. It's a very modern establishment with state of the art equipment. Where they failed is the personalities behind the front desk. They couldn't be more unfriendly. I felt like I was being arraigned with fingerprints and tons of questions. When I asked questions, they seemed to be annoyed and disrupted in their daily routine. One gal nearly rolled her eyes at me when I asked the difference between two types of beds. Awful place with employees that do not understand customer service AT ALL. If you question their tactics, for example, telling you to PROVE your identity. Now, mind you, you have the fob they give you. You hand it over. They scan it. And then will say, I need ID. They see you EVERY DAY, they KNOW who you are. But, they like to see the customer jump. And with the rudest attitude tell you no, unless I see ID, you're not tanning. Are you kidding. I'm the PAYING CUSTOMER. I come here every day. You see me. And now, you're giving me attitude?? Versa Spa Pro, excellent sunless tanning experience and phenomenal results. As always with Suntan City, the staff was overly accommodating and great at explaining even the smallest of details. I would definitely recommend this location for anyone looking to try sunless or "spray tanning" and tan-aholics alike. This was my first time in the Pro version, because it is not offered at all locations, but it will not be my last. This system offered a much finer mist, better fragrance, and superior drying to the average non-Pro Versa Spa. Overall immaculate, consistent, with quality products, service, and results. read more

I will never step foot in this Sun Tan City again. The manager was not professional what so ever. Complaining that customers were still there at 8:45pm when her shift ended at 9pm. I'm sorry that you had to work 15 minutes over, the world is not going to end. When I walked in she acted like I was an inconvenience to her when it's HER JOB to help customers. Then she had a co worker show up because they were going out together after. And the co worker was even complaining about how she has to work tomorrow, she forgot to pick up alcohol, and they were both swearing. Sun Tan City in Salem, NH has changed my life. Here's why: First, let me backtrack to the other 20-something locations I've been to and tell you why Sun Tan City beats them all. I am a spray tan fanatic; I get one probably once or twice a week depending on my schedule, and I have probably traveled to every tanning salon within a 30 mile radius of my house. Yeah, it's that serious. At other locations, I find that I will step out of the booth and feel splotchy, wet, and maybe only a shade darker than I was before (and I ask for Dark!) Not to mention, it's usually overpriced and maybe lasts me 3-4 days. At Sun Tan City, however, they use the Versa Pro tanning system, which gives you a long lasting, EVEN tan, and will usually last me 5-7 days. Not only that, but you can ask them to spray you twice on the legs! When I heard this, nothing else in my life seemed to matter anymore (how's that for a twist?). But seriously, these spray tans give me LIFE. They have four different color options: light, medium, dark, or double dark. Then, if you're like me, and want even more color, you can choose any of those options again to be sprayed with on the legs. Hallelujah! I also need to mention that the staff is always super friendly and helpful, which is honestly something that I look forward to when I come in the salon. After being excited to get a sunless tan at Sun Tan City, I was disappointed soon after arriving. The girl behind the desk named Jen was one of the worst customer service people I've ever come into contact with. After repeating myself 5!!! times about which options I wanted to do for my tan, she responded with "wait I wasn't paying attention can you repeat it". After repeating myself multiple times, she had to ask the other associate her opinion on what I was trying to say. As I was walking by the front desk to exit; the same girl says "not for nothing you know we close soon right?!". Frustrated to say the least, I got my spray tan, not even 24 hours later there was no visible tan on my body. I'm extremely pale, and there is absolutely no difference.
