To be honest, I tan for the health aspect. I have rheumatoid arthritis and as it gets colder it helps my body stay warm inside, down to my bones. I have been a customer of SunTan City for a number of years now and have used several of their locations all over central Indiana. Most of the staff is pleasant to nice and easy to deal with. The only reason I didn't give 5's is their snail like computer system and the quality/condition of the beds. It usually takes 2-3 times longer to get checked in than it should and, some of the beds have button/ sound/ bulb issues. Over all it is a good place and I would recommend them just not if you are in a hurry. read more

I've been using Sun Tan City on and off for a few years. After a year or so, I re-opened my account to start tanning for vacation. Usually they have good deals and good/friendly people working at all locations. The first couple of encounters here weren't super friendly. Didn't offer any specials, promotions, upgrades, etc. I haven't seen those people since then so hopefully that was just a minor issue. The rooms appear like they aren't swept often or mopped very well. They seem kinda dirty when you really look at the detail. The 'Faster' level beds aren't cleaned very well and have smudges all over them like they were wiped down but not very well. I got a rash (contact dermatitis) on both of my elbows after using one of these beds, which goes to show, they aren't cleaned very well. Definitely room for improvement! They don't have the 'Fast' level beds but they advertise them. They said corporate recently came in and took them out. read more

The "District Manager" was nice when she was trying to sell me things. Told me paying until the end of the year was the same amount as 3 months on the membership. Paying full was $179 or $44 per month. I'll let you do the math. I paid in full and went back to the spray booth. The booth left me so spotty like it hadn't been cleaned in months and the floor made the bottom of my feet almost black. I went to the bathroom to try to wash some of it off. Then went to tell the manager that it wasn't clean and showed her how it has stained my feet. She just told me about barrier cream and standing on towels. Insinuating it's something I did wrong. It was very obvious it wasn't cleaned correctly and she wouldn't show and ounce of integrity. I've been getting spray tans for a really long time. I always went to Sun Tan City when I lived in Louisville so when I moved to Indy it was only natural that I not change anything. I like that they got their start in my homestate of Kentucky. The people who work at this location are all really friendly and helpful. I usually go when I get off work at 9 at night and I never have to wait. When I've gone around 5-6 ish it's pretty busy and the wait can be 20 minutes or so, but it's clean and nice. And it's right next to Super Target which is a definite plus. read more

Most of the new staff is clueless. There are a few people that work at this location that know what they're talking about. I have tanned at this location for years & this is the worst its ever been. They don't take cash anymore and have a tiny little sign that say "we're cashless". The lotion selection is awful. If you want lotion go to total tan, they're great! Their app and website is junk as well. You cannot see what time you last tanned to ensure you're within your 24 period. The staff said, "ya, I know. Guess you just have to come in to check". Ridiculous. Go to Total Tan, they have just a strong of beds, better lotion selection and much more helpful staff! I have referred so many ppl to sun tan city and now I'm telling them all to switch! So it wasn't busy when I arrived and the girl helping me was not friendly. Really rude and not smiling. I get it people have personal lives that could be distracting but really you can't fake it for 30 seconds so I don't feel like a problem to you ? Anyways get assigned to a room and it was not clean. I've attached pictures of the tops but the inside was gross as well. The bottom was streaky and the top had finger prints all over it. The controls to start and fan were greasy. I go to Glendale and Clearwater and it's always clean and friendly. I will never return here. Don't waste your time coming here it's worth the drive 10 minutes to 82 street. read more

I went in a few weeks ago during a spray tan special which I purchased online. There was a sign on the door reminding everyone about the mask mandate put in place by our Governor which I did not have on because I can not wear one and therefor exempt. As I walked in, I approached the counter where there also were plastic partitions placed in front of the registers at the check-in counter due to COVID. I was talking with the girl checking me in when I was rudely interrupted by another employee, assuming she was the manager, that said, "ma'am do you have a mask?" I replied, "No, I can't wear one." She then said, "Okay, we will let you tan today, but next time you have to wear one." I don't know if she was just ignoring what I had JUST told her about not being able to wear a mask or what so I explained again, " I can not wear a mask, so I won't be able to wear it next time either. Do you understand?" She literally ignored everything I had just told her and proceeded to repeat the EXACT SAME THING about wearing it next time. I was getting tired of being harassed so I ended the conversation by saying, "Okay, whatever." That pretty much ruined my experience at STC and I won't EVER be back. Please take note, you can not discriminate or harass people who can not wear a mask and there are exemptions for us. Maybe businesses should be more concerned about losing money from a lawsuit instead of allowing their employees to be mask Nazis. As for my actual spray tan, I remembered why I don't usually go there. It was terrible! It lasted like 4 days, was splotchy, and extremely uneven. I normally do not leave bad reviews unless something is REALLY bad. And this warrants it. Two of my friends tan here and talked me into trying it out (I usually go to another place). My first time in was the day they had a $10.99 special. I was walking in as my friend was finishing. She told the two girls to give me exactly what she had. I was patient as it took the girl a half hour (yep - 30 min) to set up my account. Then she told me it would be $30. I explained that my friend had only paid $10-15 for it. She said oh she must have had a package. So I got suckered into buying a 3 pack to take the price per session down. As I waited for the spray booth the girl called me back up and said she made a mistake and the "extras" I asked for (that my friend had gotten) were actually another $15. I was so confused so I called my friend to ask if I was doing something wrong. Nope. She had only paid for the special. So after I get done tanning the girls had checked my account to see what happened. They basically told me that they didn't realize I wanted the special. Um, it was cheaper and I said "give me exactly what she had". I decided whatever. I'll just use my last two and be done. So today I went in to use a session from my package. I explained to the woman working what had happened last time. She immediately got defensive and tried telling me my friend did not get what I said she did. Then she looked it up and realized I was right and then said that there was confusion because first when the special came out the extras were included and then they weren't. Pretty sure the pricing and packages did not change in a matter of 10 minutes between my friend leaving and me buying a package I'm not even sure if she understood what I was saying because she was so busy interrupting me & being defensive about what I was charged. I finally just asked to do the tanning so I could go. There are different levels and I asked to do dark. She then informed me it would be an extra $5 because packages only include light or medium. I was baffled. If my regular place had been open I would have left. Instead, I did the medium, and I will not be using my last tanning session because I'd rather waste money than set foot inside there again. Basically, they conned me for more money and when they realized the mistake after looking at it today, there were no apologies or anything. Instead I was told I'd need to spend another $5. Beware new customers - make sure you know exactly what you are getting and they spell it out for you. Also be ready for the sales pitch for lotions. I've been told probably 4 times in the two times I've been in there that I really should purchase the lotions they sell because it helps. Thanks but no thanks - I've already spent way more than I did for an actual air spray tan done by a person!! read more

It sounds expensive when they first introduce it to you, but once you actually think about the price breakdown, it's actually a great deal. I try to go once a week. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Have had great experiences at other locations , but this location needs a complete revamp of staff. Almost left this place in tears yesterday. I am an extreamly busy person who has very limited time . The previous time I had tanned in this location they had given me a very light shade instead was of double dark , this was confirmed by a staff member at another location. Not a big deal at all a bit annoying because I had to go back the next day and re spray. Yesterday I was nice but direct and just made it clear to Rachael that I wanted the double dark I wanted the heated spray booth and to please double check to make sure she hit the correct button for coloring because I would not have time to come back next day. She couldn't find my name, than tried to tell me that I owed money on my account. Wrong the money comes directly out of my bank were I have thousands of dollars in , and saw the payment post 3 days ago , she finally realized she was incorrect . I go back to my spray tan booth it is the wrong booth , once again not a huge deal easily fixable. I walk back to front counter to hear Rachael loudly talking smack me and when I say speaking badly of me I mean very very rudely. I looked at the counter girl and said super nicely I certainly hope she's not talking about me. Counter girl responds I think she was just really offended. I respond with well now I am really offended and by the way my booth is wrong. She brings out manager who Rachael had clearly been talking to about me . The manager stephanie was just as rude . I looked at the manager and said how in the world do you think what just happened was appropriate or professional? She smiles at me and says so are you going to tan today . I respond by saying I would like to but my booth is wrong and I am now super upset and uncomfortable , manager looks at me so you gonna spray tan . I respond can you please talk to your employee Rachael what she did is extreamly inappropriate if she wants to talk about me can she do it with door closed where no one can hear. Finally the manager stephanie gets me in a booth, the booth is wrong again, I have to back up again to get correct booth. Which I finally did on third time. * having wrong booth not a big deal its easily fixable, having wrong booth twice not okay . * having to hear someone talk crap about you and having managment think its acceptable and than basically say well you can leave If you want absolutely unacceptable. I strongly encourage ownership to revamp staff, customer service makes or breaks you . Also you may want to make sure customers feel comfortable coming to your location I am certainly not comfortable coming anymore. read more

I was pale and didn't want to be, so I came here to tan. The staff members are friendly and helpful. I have been a member for over a year now and continue to come to this location more than any other Sun Tan City. Their prices are reasonable and half price upgrades on the weekend are a nice plus. I appreciate how they don't try to be pushy and sell me a new product or service every time i visit. I recommend this location to anyone looking to tan. read more

Many of his friends wanted to start going tanning but they said they would have felt more comfortable if there was a guy there that could relate to them. This location is accommodating to your needs/requests as a customer. From time to time, only when the manager is present. All of the employees are younger and would benefit from and increase in training as far as customer service skills and overall how to work with the public. Some of the girls have been great and informative! I have noticed a few times the girls working complaining about their job, behind the desk when the manager is not present, and how much drama there is along with how high the employee turnover rate is at the store. She was was very impatient when I was telling her how I wanted my tan, it was clear she was upset that I didn't buy primer from her, and when she gave me my card she tossed it on the counter; not even in front of me. I was very unimpressed by this place. First of all there were no beds clean when I got there (on a Monday afternoon) other than the standup ones. The staff wasn't very friendly & the lady told me I wasn't allowed to go the full time in the bed because I hadn't been to THIS location in 2 months even tho I have been to other locations more recently. I explained to her that I just got back from Key West & that I usually always go the full time because I don't burn (I have brown hair, brown eyes, olive skin). She was very sassy back to me & basically disregarded everything I said as she still only allowed me half the time in the bed. I have never had this happen to me before at any other tanning place, as paying customers we should receive the services we want. I have been tanning here for about 8 months now and the beds are great and the staff is as well. Unfortunately, these are negated by their awful customer treatment on the billing side. My contract states I will be charged on the first of the month. Then I was told that it wouldn't actually pull from my account until the 14th..... this is odd but I went with it. But every month they have billed on a different day! This is a major inconvenience for a working single mother with 2 jobs and can't monitor transactions as much as I wish I could. When you sign a contract stating they will pull funds on the first that is what should occur. When I received a $25 dollar charge to my account they informed me that they have 21 store locations and they can't process all payments quick enough and that's why they don't honor my contract. I think this is unacceptable. Then I was told that if they do decide to refund my money it would take 3 weeks for it to come to me. $25 may seem minuscule to some but for me, that is my daughter's school lunch for the next 2 weeks. read more
