I'm so embarrassed that I've waited so long to send this review! In March 2023, my 2009 Honda Pilot would studder frequently while I was driving and I took it to the Honda dealership and had them do a diagnostic and discovered multiple problems. They quoted me $4,500. I took that quote to Sunpower and asked them if they could look at it and give me a lesser quote; they looked at it and quoted me $2,700 and said it would take 4-5 days to get everything done. Thats an $1,800 difference! I had to wait 10 days to get an appointment because they are so good at their work and we're booked out. It did take 5 days, but, my car ran good again and it was definitely worth the wait to save so much money. They also told me if I had ANY problems to bring the car back in. I took my Lexus in for brakes and got a call from them asking if I could hear a grinding noise when driving. "No" I said but lots of road noise and sort of a jet plane sound that my husband loved. Well they advised me a wheel bearing was going out! I've been driving all over the place , out of the way places! I've had my car serviced at 2 different Lexus dealerships, and tire stores over a period of 4 years and no one diagnosed the noise. Just blew it off. My car is so QUIET now I am just so grateful I'm not broken down in the middle of nowhere! Sun Power Automotive was a life/trip saver! Our car broke down just outside of Pocatello and we were towed here just before closing time last Friday night. John went out of his way to make sure that we could get an honest evaluation of what the problem was. He also helped us with our rental car. We had just rented it and it wouldn't start. He drove over to Enterprise to get us help and when they were closed he jumped the rental car for us. He did all this after his shop was closed. This enabled us to continue on to Wyoming and not miss the family wedding we were trying to get to. He called us Monday morning to let us know what the problem was with our car and they worked on it right away. I can't THANK them enough! Recently had our '99 Sable throw a "low coolant" warning and dump a bunch of anti-freeze while my daughter was driving. Not seeing a leak, I checked the reservoir and filled it back up- also checking the passenger front seat floor area (after the heater wouldn't work)- it was soaked. Believing the heater core to be out, I "googled" local repair shops to find those rated highest- and Sun Power was on the the list. Choosing S/P, I got a call mid-morning from Ed advising their Tech found a hose leaking but no obvious sign of the heater core needing replaced (a $550 repair). Ed said they'd RR the hose and test the heater system. Later that morning I got the call my car was ready and the only repair needed was the hose and an anti-freeze add (total $150). Fabulous service! My driver's side window broke while in Boise over the weekend and wouldn't roll up. After driving home on Sunday, I called them on Monday and they were so kind as to fit me in for repair on Tuesday. I now have a fully functioning window again. This place is amazing. I am driving cross country from Seattle to DC, and my rear left blinker stopped working. I dropped by Sun Power, and the owner took a look at my car right away. So grateful for this wonderful automotive shop. We were stranded near Pocatello in need of a new alternator late on a Friday afternoon. We called ahead while the tow truck drove toward the shop to get a quote. Realizing we were getting close to closing time at the beginning of a weekend, they agreed to stay open in order to complete the needed repairs so we could reach our destination. We were taken care of! My wife and I had the whole front of our car start shaking violently just outside of Pocatello. We came to Sun Power and they were able to diagnose the problem and give us an estimate. It was going to take a couple of days to fix, and we were on our way down to Salt Lake for a career fair, so they gave us a ride to Enterprise car rental. After dropping us off and leaving, we came to find out Enterprise was all out of cars. We called around and ALL of the car rental shops in town were out of cars. When we called Sun Powered back, they were able to get in touch with a personal contact at the Subaru dealership in town. Sun Powered came back to the Enterprise and picked us up and dropped us off at Subaru. They took such good care of us. We wouldn't have made it to the career fair without them. My son's car had some problems just before getting to Pocatello. I looked up reviews for mechanics in Pocatello and this place had awesome reviews, so I had my son go here. I could tell they were pretty busy, but when I explained my sons's predicament, the said they would fit him in. They checked his car and found it was something they were not comfortable working with, so they referred him to a local dealer that could take care of the problem. They did not even charge for the diagnosis. When I called up to thank them, the owner who did the diagnosis wanted to talk to me to give even more relevant information to help my son. What an amazing place and a rare experience for us in dealing with mechanics. I would trust this business with my cars and tell you they deserve the high rating they are getting. read more

Was on a road trip from Montana to Cali on I-15. I had passed through Idaho Falls when my engine started missing and the service engine light came on. I didn't want to backtrack so after making all the obvious engine checks I yelped auto repair in Pocatello (the next town ahead) and found this shop. I arrived about noon and they were very busy. I was told they could get to me around 4PM but when they realized I was passing through they immediately took my truck into a service bay and hooked it up to the computer. They confirmed it was a spark plug coil as I had speculated and it was fixed within an hour at approximately the same cost I had replaced one in San Diego for about two years ago. Fair friendly folks as one would hope for when out of town. I would revisit their shop without hesitation. read more

They double the charge for parts they pick up at a local parts store. They charged me $335 for a rebuilt alternator from CarQuest when CarQuest only charges $156. I get they mark things up, but 100%? Really? What a rip-off. If I hadn't been out of town, I would have go to my local mechanic who only charges labor and doesn't take advantage of people. read more

My wife was in Pocatello from out of town the day before Thanksgiving when the car window wouldn't roll up during a snow storm. Oh no, she was going to get gouged right? The office manager at Sun Power is an angel. She fit my wife in immediately. They diagnosed the problem promptly. Found that the needed wire harness wasn't available anywhere locally. They spent time trying to jury rig it and eventually rolled the window up and disabled the wiring so it wouldn't happen again. When my wife couldn't get back to the shop before closing, they stayed open late on Thanksgiving evening. And to top it all off, they didn't charge anything because they "didn't do anything."
