Our family had a great time here! We came when most kids had gone back to school so it wasn't as busy. Bathrooms and showers were clean, service was extremely friendly when we kept changing our mind on which spot we wanted to be at. We especially liked how there were different levels of spots and one could feel extremely different from another. The first night, we stayed at the top. The second night, we went down to the bottom and the kids had more room to run around. Facilities could use a little upgrade though. The gym had one ragged yoga mat. And the jacuzzi was chipping away. Overall, we would definitely come back if we're in the area. read more

Unfortunately, camping here was the worst experience I've had as a lifelong camper. It's not completely the fault of ownership, but more-so the clientele they apparently attract. You'd think in the heart of Wine country, it would be a peaceful calming, serene experience, but it was just the opposite. All afternoon until 11pm there were kids and teens driving fast around on e-bikes, scooters, and golf carts with loud sound systems or bluetooth speakers. I saw my fair share of kids on scooters and bikes taking a fall from riding too fast, or doing wheelies. While cooking dinner, your ears were treated to the competing sounds of loud sound systems at campsites all around you, so much so that if you followed camping etiquette and kept your music to your site, you could not hear it at all. One campsite right next to us had full night-club level music late into the night, at-least until 11 (when we finally fell asleep with earplugs muting the sound somewhat) People were loud, yelling, running around the streets late into the night. My little kids would have never been able to sleep had we brought them to wine country with us. To their credit, we said something to the campground and the night club was down to about 70% of the volume level the next night. However, more disrespectful neighbors came in and made it equally as challenging to fall asleep. They do have security patrolling all night, but they don't do anything about the chaos all around. I'm all for families having fun and kids letting go, being kids. But the noise levels late into the night and overall lack of respect for others was just mind blowing. That kind of camping should be left for the beach or the desert, there is general etiquette at campgrounds for a reason, so everyone can enjoy it equally. I chose to camp here so I didn't have to move my trailer each morning while using a certain other camping system and so I could have full hookups. However, it just wasn't worth it, I won't be returning to this campground unless I read reviews that things have taken a serious change to make it enjoyable for all campers, not just the loud partiers. read more

This place has plenty of rules that are not enforced unless their making money. While it claims to be a resort, it's more like a hillbilly RV park. During our stay there was a group of about 50 people who had a weekend party with a suitcase size speaker that they took to the pool and played at their camp site. They appeared drunk and were singing/yelling to the lyrics. They played music so loud it could be heard through the entire park. They make lots of money renting golf cart which parents allow young children to use. While on a walking after dark we were almost run over by one of the delinquents who was driving with the lights off. They appeared to be having a water gun fights while each golf cart had about 12 kids riding in it. Contacted the office and the behavior continued, it appeared staff had no interest in correcting the problem. This behavior continued the next night and this time when I called staff would answer the phone. I've never been to a resort that if there's a problem, you're left on your own to handle. in my opinion, in the future I better off going to a state camp group where you pay significantly less. Our group had a rally here and were treated so well by the entire staff! (34 spots) Hannah and Mallory in the office were so accommodating and attentive to all our needs. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the trails are so fun. We held a scavenger hunt/ hike on our final day and it was just perfect for this. We've been loyal Sun Outdoors guests for years, which is what makes this review so disappointing to write. Our stay at Paso Robles (July 1-6, 2026) was marked by poor maintenance, overflowing dog waste stations, unsanitary restrooms, and an unprepared campsite that was missing a fire pit. The property simply wasn't being cared for at the level we've come to expect. The most alarming incident was watching a resort employee text while driving a golf cart and nearly hit our young daughter. As parents, this was unacceptable. We repeatedly asked to speak with General Manager Julie Hill about this serious safety concern and were completely ignored. What's most frustrating is that there seems to be no accountability. Calls go to an answering service, messages aren't returned, and management appears inaccessible. Reading other recent reviews, it doesn't seem like guest concerns are being taken seriously. Unless there's a legal issue involved, don't expect anyone to call you back. Adding to the frustration, the resort is quick to enforce rules like no outside food or drinks at the pool, yet basic maintenance, cleanliness, and guest safety seem to be overlooked. It feels like the focus has shifted from guest experience to generating additional revenue. After decades of camping and RV travel, I've never encountered a General Manager who refused to speak with guests regarding legitimate safety concerns. This was once one of our favorite RV destinations. Today, it's hard to recognize. The location is beautiful, but the management, customer service, and overall guest experience have declined dramatically. Sun Outdoors, if you care about your brand and the loyal customers who helped build it, please start listening to your guests. Return phone calls, address safety concerns, maintain your facilities, and make management accessible. Until that happens, it's hard to recommend this resort to other families. read more

Very nice place to stay. We stayed in a cottage it was disappointing that we only had 1 roll of toilet paper . I called an ask do you supply Toilet paper clerk said there should be some there. I said theres ones that very small ( possibly 30sheets.) I also ask if we can have more towels I was told housekeeping will be notified.they did bring 2 roll of TP but never received any bath towels . We were staying Thursday-Sunday 3 towels was what we had an I called 3 times left a message an never received a call back.We paid $364 a night. I think we should have had our towels replace after 2 night for that price ! Other than that it's a nice place to stay . But bring your own towels and Toilet paper!!! read more

We've stayed at Sun Outdoors Paso Robles every fair week since they opened, but our visit during Fair Week 2026 was the worst so far. Check‑in: The front‑desk staff seemed disorganized and undertrained. We waited for our unit to be ready, got inconsistent answers about our key, and left feeling frustrated by the lack of clear communication. Pool and furniture: The pool area had very few lounge chairs; staff told us usable chairs were discarded and that all outdoor furniture was being replaced in one bulk order. That explanation didn't make sense to us and left the pool area feeling under‑resourced during a busy week. With summer temperatures, we usally spend the entire day at the main pool. Housekeeping incident: Housekeeping did not replenish dish soap for our kitchen when the cleaned the room, so we had to request it. Instead of leaving the bag by the front door, they left a bag with soap and a sponge on the hood of our vehicle, which felt careless and unprofessional. We reported this and the other issues to management. Overall: This is an otherwise amazing RV park with great grounds and a long history of good stays, which is why it's disappointing to see service and operations slip. I hope management addresses training, pool amenities, and housekeeping procedures so future guests don't have the same experience. read more

We came here for spring break and stayed a week in our 28' TT. All sites are FHU and the sites are leveled. There are cabins nicely dispersed around the campground. There are elevation changes within the park that aren't really obvious on the park map. So picking the right space is important, given the rolling hills within the RV park. The RV sites have plenty of room and are well maintained. Customer service is good. The park is pretty quiet at night with quiet times observed by all. The main pool has cabanas, splash pad, arcade, foozball, fire pits, pool table, ping pong and a restaurant/bar. Plenty of activities on-site. The roads are well paved for biking and scooters for the kids. WiFi is excellent throughout the park. There are activities for the kids like Easter egg hunts, tie-dye, slime making and crafts. There is a second pool and hot tubs around the park as well. The camp store does carry some items but not a lot of the basics. There is a Walmart about 2 miles away. I'd recommend Sun Outdoors Paso Robles to others and we will be returning. read more

The property itself was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The staff was friendly and the sites were nice. That said, the overall atmosphere was not what we were looking for. If you're looking for a lively party atmosphere where the adults are socializing, drinking, and the kids are off cruising around on golf carts with their friends, you'll probably love it. There was a lot of activity, music, and a very energetic vibe throughout the campground. If you're looking for a quieter RV resort where you can relax, walk your dogs, and enjoy a more peaceful experience, this may not be the best fit. During our stay there were large numbers of kids driving golf carts throughout the property, many appearing too young to be operating them. The constant traffic and activity made us uncomfortable enough that we didn't really enjoy walking our dogs and were concerned about safety. Not a bad place at all, just a very different atmosphere than we expected. read more

We've enjoyed a wide range of camping experiences at different RV Resorts. Cava Robles/Sun Outdoors definitely ranks among the best. We traveled with another couple who did not have an RV, so we managed to reserve a premium back in spot next to the chalet that they stayed in. The chalet was super cute and comfortable with a nice porch with chairs and a table. Down below was a larger dining table with chairs. The chalet also came with a BBQ grill which we used. Both sites also had fire pits which we used over the five days that we stayed there. The RV spot was well compacted and perfectly level. The utility hook ups were clean, well maintained, and perfectly positioned. The only nits were that the Wi-Fi signal was a little weak and the cable TV hook-up did not work. The resort is conveniently located for wine tasting trips. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We didn't try any of the amenities as we were focused on wine tasting, but we did drive around and look at them for future reference. We will definitely be back. read more

Where do I begin?? If you're considering coming here with kids or even without them, I'd highly consider changing your plans. The good: the grounds are nice but there are hardly any sites with shade and if you're coming from June to September it will be way too hot. The bad: at the pools, the employees said the umbrellas got destroyed and they haven't replaced them so you basically have to roast in the sun by the pool. There are WAY too many people at the main pool to the point you're packed in like sardines. The water is murky and it's just gross. You know kids are peeing everywhere! They did not have golf clubs available for the putting green which my kids were excited about. The "food" at their restaurant is absolutely horrendous! We got a Bavarian pretzel that tasted like cardboard and was served with cold plastic like cheese, a cheese pizza if you even want to call it that. Horrible cardboard crust and plastic like cheese. It literally tasted like a microwave pizza even though they have a high-end pizza oven that wasn't even turned on. We also got a burger that looked grey and was just overall nasty! We are local and came on a "stay-cation" but won't ever return and can't recommend to anyone. For the price you pay, they need to do much much better! read more

Overall, we had a great time at this resort. This resort is one of the largest and nicest that we've ever been. The staff are friendly, everything is super clean, and the resort was planned out well. The negatives: - There's not much shade. That combined with Paso's legendary summer heat make for difficult moments. - The pool furniture is pretty rough. Most of it is wooden and some of it is super rickety. They need to spend a little money in this area. - Some of the technology doesn't work well. Whether paying for songs on the pool juke box that doesn't work or being over charged for their app based laundry machines, some of the technology they use doesn't function well. They have these wrist bands that you're supposed to be able to charge things to. But, they dont work. Instead of charging to your site (like most KOA and hotels), you need to carry around a credit card. - But even IF you do carry a credit card with you, you'll find limited places to use it since the bar and kitchen aren't upon during the week. This brings me to my next point. - They have signs that say that outside food and beverages aren't allowed in the pool area. OK, they want to squeeze me for more money, but I've seen it at hotels. Of course at hotels, you usually don't have the facilities to prepare food like everyone does here. But, the bigger issue is that since the kitchen and bar aren't open during the week, there are no food or drink options at the pools. They shouldn't be making these policies when they dont have the means to provide other options. read more

Let me start by saying, I've stayed at Cava Robles RV Resort - Sun Outdoors Paso Robles before, and honestly, I used to love this place. The customer service was always on point, the grounds were spotless, and the bar/food situation was generally better than you'd expect from an RV resort. That's actually why we wanted to come out for Spring Break--and why we brought another family with us. Right off the bat, things felt... a little off. When we pulled into our RV spots, both fire pits (ours and our friends') were full of ash and old, charred wood. Not a huge deal--we don't even really use them--but it was noticeable. Ours was also broken (one leg completely off), which just added to the "hmmm... okay" impression. It wasn't terrible, just definitely not what we remembered. We had planned to kick off the trip with dinner at the bar the first night. Turns out--it's closed on Wednesdays. That one's on us for not checking ahead, but still a bit of a buzzkill. The next day, we figured we'd make up for it with lunch and drinks. This is where things really went sideways. The bartender/server was great--super nice, clearly trying--but every single order turned into, "I'm so sorry... we don't have that." No fries. No chicken fingers (which, with kids, is basically a crisis). Same drink menu as always... but almost none of the ingredients to actually make the drinks. I eventually simplified my order to tequila on the rocks with a lime. "I'm sorry... we don't have limes." At that point, I actually went back to my RV, cut up a couple of limes, and brought them to the bar. I wish I was joking. I don't even know if they used them--but that kind of says it all. From what we were told, everything was "supposed to be restocked"... it just hadn't happened yet. Which raises a pretty obvious question--who exactly was in charge of getting this place ready for Spring Break? We ended up driving into town to buy our own drinks, mixers, and food. Not exactly the resort experience we were planning on. We hung out around the pool and bar area afterward, and even that felt like it had slipped a bit. Chairs scattered everywhere, toys left out, cushions dusty with leaves--it just didn't have that clean, dialed-in feel we remembered. Later that evening, we thought it'd be fun to rent a golf cart and cruise around, meet people, explore a bit. Called the front desk... and learned that even though they're open 24 hours, golf cart rentals are on a strict 2 PM pick-up / 11 AM drop-off schedule. So if I rented one at 7 PM, I'd still have to return it by 11 AM the next day... for $140. Or wait until 2 PM the next day and miss the whole morning. So basically, no matter what, you're paying for less than a full day. Look--I'm not saying this trip ruined the place for me; it will remain in the rotation of places to consider. But it felt like visiting your favorite restaurant only to find half the menu gone and the rest "temporarily unavailable." As a "Public Service Announcement" for management, this also feels like a missed opportunity for you. This place can be great--I've seen it. But this time around, it just wasn't firing on all cylinders... and honestly, it feels like you are leaving both good impressions and DEFINITELY revenue on the table. PS-my wife says, "have better, cuter, and just more selections in your main store!" read more

We enjoyed our specific site but the positive review ends there. Our friends camping next to us had issues with their electrical set up and the response from management was dismissive. A day later, two maintenance people came out who had no idea what they were doing. Our group talked them through how to replace a breaker. The manager never followed up, that is what is really irritating. Not a "did that get resolved for you?" or offering a refund for the one day that was not meeting the standard. Once you pay in full up front, they seem to not care any longer. Another issue was the lack of enforcement for safety and quiet hours. Drunk people and 10 year olds driving golf carts and electric bikes is a recipe for disaster as evidenced by a serious golf cart roll over accident resulting in injuries. Nothing says "resort" like lights and sirens and camping with a-holes. At the upper pool, someone was riding an electric scooter around the pool deck and they eventually crashed/fell. At midnight, people drove around in golf carts with loud music, screaming. There was no quiet hours or speed limit enforcement. There were times that we limited our kids playing outside for fear of them running out onto the road. I think this was our last time there and we will not be recommending it to our friends and family. This is no "resort" and the staff does not care. It is just a matter of time before a fight breaks out between campers related to a confrontation or a child or dog is hit and killed. read more

We made a reservation and were told that we had until Thursday to cancel. That was wrong. The real deadline was Wednesday. Because of that, we missed the cancellation window. We called to explain and cancel. We stayed calm and respectful. We were met with attitude and rudeness. The person on the phone cut us off and acted like we were wasting their time. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. We sent emails. We followed up. We called again. We even asked the front desk for the correct email. We resent the email right away. No one has responded. Not a single reply. We no longer feel safe or comfortable staying at a place like this. If this is how they treat people before they arrive, I can't imagine how they treat people on site. We are still asking for a refund. We were misled. We were disrespected. And now we're being ignored. read more

We were impressed by the size of the spaces in this resort as well as the cement pad for the picnic table and firepit and relatively flat and level RV pads. The employees were hit and miss in terms of friendliness and helpfulness in the front office. It was our first time at this campground and it was during the Mid State fair so the campground was basically sold out. Lots of people out on the golf carts, which makes it a bit chaotic. We enjoyed our location at site 228 which was on a slight hill (there are a couple hills that could determine where you choose your site if you plan on going to the pools and don't have a golf cart). We were located near the main pool and just down the hill from the lap pool. Neither is designated as adults only but I noticed less people up at the lap pool. A con of the pools is that they do not allow you to bring in outside food or drink. You have to purchase food at their restaurant/bar at the main pool and at the lap pool I only noticed beverages being sold. It seems prohibitive to instill these rules at a campground! While it didn't bother us, I thouht it was worth pointing out. We also noticed some "roaches" in and around our site and some friends sites. I was told that these could possibly be "weed" roaches, but it still made me worry that some of them might hitch a ride home in our trailer! We traveled with our two sons 9 and 14 who enjoyed riding their scooters around the park and also the acade inside the main pool building. We don't have a dog, but I liked how there were at least 2 dedicated off leash dog areas. Also, the lower area of the park is far from most of the amenities but has a nice pavillion with a small spa, fire pit and seating area as well as some games like cornhole and connect 4. There is also a laundry facility and bathroom and showers. We chose not to stay there as it was far from the pool and that was where we had planned to spend most of our time at when not at our site. Overall, we will probably stay here again as its a great location for visiting the wine areas in Paso and the downtown area. read more

We have been staying at this campground since they opened. We always come fair week and this year 2026 has been our worst day ever. They have no patio furniture for their guest only tables no lounge chairs. The only way you can be comfortable is if you pay for a cabana and the furniture to sit on when we first started coming they always had lounge chairs. The table at our campsite is damaged so much that you could cut yourself on it if you sit on the corner. There are no laundry facilities available. and when I ask about the laundry facility, the Employee was very rude to me. This is the busiest time of year for Paso Robles and we pay a lot of money to stay here. They should provide better customer service and their customers with better accommodations. I hate to say it, but this will probably be our last time we stay here. We come with 16 family members every year. It's sad to see this happen. We just spent a whole week here and had a wonderful experience. I was skeptical about the other reviews by our experience was nothing but positive. The front desk stays open 24 hours and all employees were friendly and helpful. The playground and bocce ball area was very clean and even had an outdoor fire place that ran the whole time. The whole campground was clean and well organized. The club house had amazing food. We got the pizza and pretzels and it was delicious. The indoor area of the clubhouse was kid friendly. The pool was heated and clean. The music was perfect for the outdoor feel. There were plenty of yard games for the kids and adults to play with. We used the laundry facilities and loved that there was an app option to pay versus having to get change. Everything was very clean. The spots are level and very clean. I liked that the tables were plastic versus wood so they were easy to clean. We did use the restrooms where the showers were and although we didn't use the showers they were very clean. Overall the resort is clean and well organized. We will definitely make the 4.5 hour drive to this rv resort again. read more

Our experience here this weekend was so bad it pushed me to write my first yelp review. We have been coming here for a few years (pre-Sun Outdoors) and enjoyed how spacious the sites were and the pools and general quiet relaxing atmosphere of the campground. But we've noticed that it has become increasingly rowdy, dangerous, and generally unpleasant. We convinced family and friends (what made up 7 other parties/sites) to spend the weekend with us and I don't think a single one of them will be returning, ourselves included. Our friends' site was without power, for almost 2 days, in 100 degree heat, with young kids. The front desk and general manager were unhelpful and dismissive. It took us and another friend troubleshooting the issue until ultimately they had to walk maintenance through how to change a breaker. And they even had to use our tools to make it successful. No follow up. No compensation for a subpar site. Just a "there's nothing we can do". But the worst part was how dangerous it is in the campground now. The golf carts are completely out of control. Not only are people tearing through the campsite at unsafe speeds blasting music well past quiet hours, many if not most of the carts were manned by young, unsupervised children. We were worried our kids or dogs were going to get run over and rightfully so, since Saturday night, there was an accident involving a golf cart driven by a child. There were serious injuries and one person was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I understand it's hard to police poor parenting and bad decisions but something has to be done or there needs to be more security to curb dangerous behavior. The bracelets for their cashless system were not working. One person decided to drive their electric scooter on the pool deck and crashed. You're paying a lot of money each night for a site plus a resort fee. It feels more like a shitty frat party than a resort. You can stay here if you want a place to leave your rig and then enjoy your day elsewhere. But don't expect to sleep well or enjoy the property much if you're looking for a relaxing getaway. read more

Our site #34 was a pull through with a huge concrete pad, full hookups. The campground is HUGE! 2 heated pools, hot tubs, game rooms, life size chess, jenga and checkers. Fire pits and chairs throughout. We can't wait to go back! A short drive to Pismo, Hearst castle, Cambria. This is by far the nicest campground I've ever stayed in.
