Strong sulphur smell and algae, just like hanging out at Yellowstone NP. In fact the receptionist said their water is same underwater stream flowing from Yellowstone. We stopped by for an hour on a Tuesday so largely had place to ourselves plus 2 other regulars. Two pools connected to larger pool and a smaller standalone pool overlooking lake. 3 bathrooms for changing, with one shower. Met the owner Norman Franklin (he says he's 7th generation descendant of Benjamin Franklin). Surrounding area not much to look at, can bring own snacks and food to bbq. I didn't know about the hot springs mud so will definitely be back next time I'm in area! read more

This a local experience. What Yelp would categorize as "local flavor." It was a fun afternoon with the kids. The water coming out of the pipes is probably 101, but the pool is large so most of the water is around 85-90. There's a sulfur smell because it's water from a natural hot spring. The pool is gravel at the bottom and yes there is some algae. Some ducks joined in on the fun and started swimming in the pool at one point. I took some extra mud from a nice couple who had leftovers and made myself a mud mask. The kids had a blast playing with pool noodles. If you pulled onto the dirt road and saw the casual, rustic sign, kept going, parked in the dirt lot, walked in and got pissed because you didn't get a five star spa experience for $10, that's your bad. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect, with my childhood memories of passing through Paso Robles in the summer, so wasn't sure if I would want to really spend much time in the Hot Springs, but I found it was a perfect spot where the water temperature was perfect where I could enjoy all day. Customer service: I made a booking error, I called and was helped with no issues to fix it to the proper date. The person on the other end of the phone was beyond courteous and understanding, our booking was far enough out that it helped make it not an issue. While onsite we witnessed the employees dealing with minor inconveniences by guests and they were BEYOND patient, calm and understanding!! It was refreshing to see and deal with! Service used: We only did day use tickets. We were not over night guests of any kind. Restrooms: there are restrooms on site for use. They supply lots of seating and tables. We have gone on a regular day and basically have been like four to six other people present and seating wasn't an issue. Today we went on Memorial Day and it was PACKED! Atmosphere: it is definitely family friendly. Everyone that we have spoken to that are locals know and love the owners!! They have music playing, a bubble machine going, they had lots of pool noodles for use! Sadly, we witnessed some kiddos being destructive to the stuff supplied. This place is a hidden gem! We arrived at 07:30am and walked in to find clothes, pool noodles, bottles of water thrown all over. It is sad that most people can't and won't find a trash can! Camping in a junkyard I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Franklin Hot Springs. The property looks nothing like the pictures on their website. When I arrived, I was shocked to find that the'campsites' consisted of nothing more than a post in the ground with a picnic table nearby, all set in an area that resembled a junkyard. The facilities were in terrible condition--the bathrooms, showers, and swimming pool were dirty and had an overwhelming mildew smell. I couldn't bring myself to use any of them. The overall atmosphere made me feel unsafe, and I didn't feel comfortable staying overnight in my van next to them. I ended up leaving immediately after taking some photos. I hope my$50 can at least go toward improving the cleanliness of the facilities, but I would not recommend this place to anyone read more

For all the people who said it was smelly or unsafe or a junkyard well maybe it's not for you but in our opinion it was very safe, the people were extremely friendly, and that includes the people that work there as well as their customers. It was absolutely wonderful. Yes you might call it funky but that was the charm of the place. It was perfectly clean in my opinion the water came out nice and hot and it was the most relaxing swim I've had in years. And not only is it that nice hot springs to sit in but also to swim in. It's out in the wild blue yonder on a farm type setting. You can't go wrong! $9 for a senior I'll be back. No it's not some fancy resort but you don't have to spend fancy resort money on it either. As natural as natural hot springs can get. You can smell the sulfur in the air and there is algae in the main pool area. My friend's sterling silver ring actually got discolored from the sulfur! Thankfully, she was able to get it looking back to normal with a special polishing cloth. If you're not a fan of algae, I recommend wearing water shoes, using the pool floaties provided, or just hanging out at the adjacent hot tub. The water temperature was perfect when we went back in September. Another fellow hot springer dove down and actually excavated some mud/clay from the bottom and shared some with us, so we all had a mud mask party. We got a $2 Yelp check-in discount since it was our first time visiting. Thank you to the front desk person for being so patient with us. the people / owner we met were very nice. We camped here for 2 nights and having access to the springs was pretty cool. Campsites (no hookup) you kinda can park anywhere in the designated area . Our dogs were able to be in the camping area. To check in you go towards the hot springs :) It was relatively quiet and peaceful with some views of goats roaming around from time to time lol The hot spring little pool felt so nice and we went when it was just us 2. To me this place is 5 stars but I don't want to deceive my fellow helpers. It's not fancy, it's not a resort or somewhere anyone who's pretentious and snoody would go. It's a healing charging port and fun place for me and my friends and daughter who's under 5. I've gotten so much healing from the waters here. The location is perfect between Nor Cal and So Cal so I try to stop there when heading either way up the 101. The price Is great especially for camping overnight. The owners are kind, lovely people and always have been so nice to us. U will smell like sulfur after but your skin and hair and body will be so soft and happy and full of essential minerals we lack in getting in society's dead food we all eat. This is a fantastic place to hang out. It is a very rustic setting that we enjoy because we love the outdoors. We went during the Thanksgiving break on our way home from Cambria. Our family had a great time from 10am until about 4:00pm! The staff was so friendly and the owner is very amicable. We enjoyed the casual family friendly atmosphere. We brought our own snacks and towels then went right in. We are definitely coming back the next time we stop by Paso. We left joyful and refreshed! I love rustic hot springs but this was more of a junkyard. There is trash and cats everywhere. The smell of Sulphur was overwhelming in the entire area. The showers are not heated so when you get out of the hot springs there is no way to rinse. most importantly, the hot springs are not hot. the water comes out at 103 degrees, but the pool is so large that it sits at around 85-90 degrees in most of the sitting areas making it more of a heated pool than a hot tub. We stayed in the RV area which is close to the hot springs so we could not get away from the smell or the noise. the electric did work, but the water hookup smelled of Sulphur so i didn't feel comfortable hooking it up to my rig. for what we paid to camp there we were disappointed. Spent 4 nights there, used the "hot" springs for about 30 minutes in total. read more

I'm half and half on this place. The place is extraordinary in both positive and negative aspects. First when we came, the place fully smells of sulfur and there are debris of algae or moss floating everywhere. We were afraid we would get water borned disease But we said whatever and went in the smaller tub which is hotter than the big pool. The big pool was cold though. None of the water was 100F even. They were 80-90F. What I really like is the people here. We talked to other people in the tub who came frequently and they were super friendly. When we first came in, they handed us mud and taught us how to put it and covered our face. The pool is extremely slippery and the algae covering the entire pool is so gross. One lady fell and scraped her foot, bleeding. Luckily I was careful and didn't fall We ended up staying for about 2 hours because we just enjoyed the people here and there was cute and very obedient dog. The toilets weren't bad. I was interested to check out some of the hot springs in Paso Robles. At $8 ($6 if you check-in on Yelp) is an unbelievable price point. You don't need to make reservations so we grabbed our swim suits, towel, and flip flops for this fun day. As you turn into the long driveway, you pass a pond with folks fishing. That's cool! Then you continue on the dirt road past some rusted equipment and random things. The road opens up to a big dirt parking lot. It looks like you can park your camper or tent camp. We parked and walked into the shack marked with a welcome sign. There was a man watching tv who greeted us and broke a $20 from his wallet. We walked through the shack to the pools. There are two adjacent small pools that are connected to the larger pool. There were families swimming around and splashing. You immediately smell the sulphur. We found a chair to put our items and dipped into the smaller pool. Step carefully because the entire pool is covered in moss. In fact the water is not filtered at all. You'll see bits of things floating around. There's no chlorine. If you get too hot in the smaller pools, head over to the larger section. While I appreciate the affordable price point, the place can use some cleaning up. The bathrooms needs a deep clean. I just didn't feel like this is a spot for me to kick back and relax. read more

This is not your fancy schmany Hot Springs but a completely natural rustic soak like you went exploring in the backcountry of Paso Robles. Definitely an adventure as pictures didn't paint the whole picture as when we arrived the direction via Google missed the street plus hand painted signs that made us feel like you were trespassing on someone's property. When we found (or thought we found lol) the Hot Springs we parked, walked in the main building to what appeared to be several people watching TV and felt like we were disturbing them. Paid for a soak and told to be careful about getting in the pool due to algae as we could slip, algae was overgrown andd don't get me started on the pungent smell of sulfer. With one large main pool and two small decent size sitting pools temperatures ideal & pricing was cheap. So as they say when in Rome aka Paso Robles we soak and have an AMAZING adventure...so we had an adventure. We made the best of it, saw that the family owners were trying to make updates as they had installed new bathroom facilities and were following around a city employee that day to install walkways. Snack bar and drinks available for purchase or bring your own along with noodles and life vests available there for swimming. They also have a separate area for fishing and you can camp overnight too. Best to the owners, the Hot Springs have potential, plenty of locals there who were truly enjoying it with smiles all around. read more

What a unique place! The place is not fancy by any means. Definitely more of a natural experience which I loved. The water softened my skin and the mud helped exfoliate. It was great! Lots of locals hang here and everyone was very friendly. There is a lot of room to spread out or find your own little spot for a more quiet experience. You can't beat the price ($10) for what they offer!! Oh and they offer towel rentals for $2 plus they have showers with hot water. Don't forget your body wash and toiletries they don't have that in the bathroom there. We will definitely be returning when back in the area! read more

Franklin hot springs is a fun, hole in the wall kind of place. We decided to do some urban camping and signed up to spend the night at the hot springs. Our overnight spot included admission to the hot springs as well as the stay. The location was pretty quiet to sleep, and waking up to the beautiful pond was a great start to the day. Minus one star for spiders in the bathrooms and showers. They were cleanish, but the amount of spiders living in them made me not want to use the facilities. This spot doesn't fit into the typical Paso Robles vibe, but it definitely has a fun upbeat vibe of its own. It was a hot day so glad the water wasn't to hot. Water seems to always be going in and out so it's pretty clean and fresh. Bathrooms are nice too. Just gotta get past the trailer park vibes and you'll like it. People are friendly and for the price can't go wrong. This is the middle of nowhere Hot Springs that is a bit of a local secret. It's sulfur, so be aware of that going in and I recommend removing all jewelry as my sterling silver ring turned black, but I was able to polish it. if you're looking for a high class spa vibe with tons of amenities, this isn't it. But if you're looking for an inexpensive natural hot spring with mud. that is said to be great for your skin, check this place out. Do not stay here! Save ur money. We love hot springs and we're hoping to try a new one out. Found this place on Yelp and made reservations. When we got to this location we immediately regretted it. Things just got worse and worse and worse as we approached the site. It literally feels like a junk yard. It's filthy worn down, dirty and not kept up. Someone was in our camp site regardless there's literally no space in between the sites which leaves no privacy or really no space at all. The buildings around the springs were in shambles . I didn't feel safe to stay here health or for my personal safety. I paid $50 to camp here and immediately found some where else to stay. You couldn't pay me to stay here. I can't believe this is even legal to have this available to the public. Trust me ... this isn't right!!! read more

We passed by and planned to enjoy the springs. It was open on thanksgiving. Once we arrived, there was water on the path to the parking area spilling into another body of water. There was a strong sulfur smell, which is a great sign of really nice geothermal mineral spring water. But when we pulled up to the parking area, it was very "junky." I couldn't find myself enjoying the dip with so much mess and junk around. So unfortunately, we did not stay. If we pass by again, perhaps we will give it a second chance. 100% would recommend to a friend. I grew up going to Franklin's. The bathrooms have been remodeled as well! The hot springs are 100% natural fed springs, so there will be a sulfur kind of smell. This is not your ritzy, overpriced type of place. This is a family owned and operated area, and it's totally laid back and chill. There's fishing all around the springs(I got some good size catfish my last time), and you can fish all day if you want. They have bathrooms right by the springs, so it's easy to get cleaned up and ready(no muddy feet in the bathroom!) Also, it's very slippery in some spots, so be careful! If you don't like the strong smell of sulfur and a slimy swimming spot (algae is 100% natural. It's a hot springs.. duh) then this place isn't for you. The photos on the website looked extremely inviting, but when you get there, you will see that it is very rundown and old and not kept up as well. I had a lot of hesitations walking up to their " Hot Spring" and all I could see is a lot of algae and green water. I never even entered the pool. I turned around and walked out. We were in the Paso Robles area, a town with storied history as a hot springs town, so we opted to visit Franklin Hot Springs. It is not a fancy place at all, but what you find is a good soak for very reasonable prices. We went there on a Sunday evening so there was not many people. They have 4 changing rooms and the hot springs area consist of a large pool with 2 adjacent smaller sit down pools that have a higher temperature. The large pool has warm water to swim in and mud on the bottom(you can rub on your body for a mud bath), and in one corner there are three tubes releasing water and if you sit under the water you get a nice water massage. There are many water noodles provided by the facility and also some floating inflatable lounges for patrons to use. Around the pools are chairs and picnic tables and sun shades. We were there for about an hour and had a nice time. The other patrons were respectable and not intrusive. The mineral water made our skins feel smooth afterwards and the sulfur smell in the pools was only faint. To get to the facility you drive down a very short dirt road off the main road but it was no problem at all. read more
