SunKool did an excellent job on my air conditioning system, and were very helpful in the office when I needed the county inspection. Vanessa was very helpful and was able to answer all of my questions and helped me through the procoess. I'd recommend SunKool to anyone who want's their air conditioning system to be good and last a long time. I worked in construction 20 years ago, and we used SunKool because they did a good job, which was why I chose them to do my home when my HVAC system went out. This is an addendum to my previous unfavorable review. The handler for the AC in the main part of my house is bolted underneath the house. It started making a lot of racket. I wasn't going to deal with Sun Kool. Ocala Heating and Air came out. Even though we had a service agreement the filter had not been changed for some time. This resulted in the unit being filthy and they are presently taking the unit apart for a complete cleaning. We are going to have them check the other units in our home to see what kind of shape they are in. So how about that service agreement?! Don't go there. If the assigned tech realized he wasn't going to make it or was going to be late he should have spent 2 minutes and called me. Complete disrespect on this companies part. SunKool caused nearly $10K in water damage to my home when they serviced my unit and left the drain sensor disconnected. The unit continued to run for a year...slowly leaking all that water into subfloor and walls. The manager refused to even call me back to discuss it and the person that answered the phone told me I could not prove it was their fault. Please do not trust this company. If I could give ZERO stars I would. We have now been without heat for Two weeks and are having to wait longer for a piece of the part that "was not sent". Why would you not check the parts before you come out. This unit is a year old and the heat has now went out twice for weeks before "repair" during the coldest days that Florida has. These people charged me $160 for a capacitor which is worth anywhere from $10 to $18. Not only that, but the part was under warranty by Carrier, and they still charged me so they made double on that deal. on top of that they charged me $105 for service call. Making a profit is understandable, but charging a 1000% over the cost of the part is criminal. I contacted Sun Kool about this problem, but they chose not to acknowledge me. will never use Sun Kool again, and will pass the word concerning their ways of doing business. read more

Signed paperwork for new AC on 3-27-23. Install was 4-4-23 and was 90% completed that day. They said they would return and install the shroud. Lake county inspectors came out on 4-18 and failed the install. The shroud was not installed after a week and a half. Still no install as of 4-25-23. They haven't contacted me since the failure either. I called the wrong "Sun" company. Careful with this company!!! read more

We made a terrible mistake and paid the price for doing so. Our air conditioning system stopped cooling around midnight. We called Sun Kool Air Conditioning, Inc. in Ocala, FL around 8:00 a.m. the next morning because they were the company our homebuilder had contracted to install our AC unit. We were told there would be a $99 diagnostic charge to which we (reluctantly) agreed. When the technician arrived, he found the problem immediately, which was a bad capacitor. The parts for our unit were under warranty, but the labor was not. The technician said the labor charge would be $145, so we assumed it must be a job that would take some time. He spent less than 5 minutes opening a panel, unplugging and replacing the capacitor, then closing the panel. $145 labor charge for a 5-minute job! That made the total $245 for about 10-15 minutes of combined diagnosis and repair. We emailed the company and were fed a lame excuse about "inflation" and the "flat rate for all repairs". Inflation may be terrible, but that doesn't justify $145 for 5 minutes. The next time our A/C has issues, we will do our homework and find another, more reasonable, more honest company. read more

Sun kool's .The woman in customer service is the worst person i have ever deal with. Every time the technician come out and replace a parts, after they leave it get worse. I move in this new home lest than a year and already they had to replace the capacitor and the blower motor. Each time they come out to replace a part they charge me a service fee. No one in that company can give you a service fee price before they come out. I had to pay a service fee of $303.48 just for them to replace a blower motor that take less than twenty minutes to put in. After putting in the motor the unit can not turn off. I let the manager Shawn know the system keep running even doe i turn the system off the motor is still running and my light bill would be high and he reply it would not be high it is like turning on a toaster. Our AC has had a slow leak for quite some time now. We knew we would have to eventually have to get a new one. SunKool was so great through this whole process. Dudly was the first employee at our house, who even came out on a Sunday! He explained everything in simple terms and gave us enough freon to get by for a few days. Scott L. came next day and went over all our options and prices. He came on a Thur. and said it would get done on Mon. He gave us freon again to get us thru the weekend. The team was here early Monday and worked all day. All employees were nice, professional and knowledgeable. Our old air handler was in a very tight closet, but Drew Lennon and Kris Gouge "collapsed" the old one right in the closet so they only had to remove the door temporarily. We were so glad we didn't have to hire a carpenter to revamp our closet. They even put in new drain pipes (our old pipe was all taped up from former leaks). Noticed that my air conditioner wasn't working at 7:30 pm when the temperature hit 82 degrees. I called Sun Kool emergency service number immediately. My call was routed to voice mail. I requested emergency service and left my name and number. They did not contact me during the rest of the night. I called again at 8:30 am the next morning and got through to a person. She said they had not yet completed processing the previous night's calls. She put me on the schedule for service between 1 and 5 pm. The technician, Robert, arrived at 5. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem (capacitor) quickly (explaining everything along the way) and replaced it. Problem fixed, but.....it was a long, hot day! read more

We have used Sun Kool for years...and have always been completely satisfied......they have installed a 'zoned' system in my home...Our Master Bedroom, on the South West side of the house, was always to warm...A zone with it's own thermostat fixed the problem....We have found that they are one of the few companies that actually know the advantages of having different zoned systems thoughout a house...Most company's at that time wanted to sell us seperate systems......A highly recommended company... read more

Sun Kool mangled everything from day 1. The man who wrote up the order for our brand-new HVAC system forgot to include a new filter unit, so they installed the new system with the old filter unit that had a broken door, taping it together to keep the door on, an unsightly mess, not to mention it made it impossible to change the filter. The salesman promised us 4 new thermostats as part of our package. When they tried to install the new thermostats I realized they were primitive, cheap crap and the ones that were already in place were of a higher quality, more technologically savvy, so I refused to let them put them in. I ordered new digital thermostats (at my own expense), but they never showed up with the 4th one. Worse than all that is the fact that the system was installed in such a slipshod manner it sat in the compartment at a tilt, like the tower of Pisa. Any freshman engineer knows that mechanical equipment must be level, or it will quickly burn out. When I complained, they came out and tore it down and reinstalled the system spending another day in our garage. After the second installation the system quickly broke down due to some problem they'd had with where they'd run the drainage line, so they took that apart and reinstalled it. Meanwhile we got to swelter for a couple more days. They promised us a system with zone control but there is no zone control. If we turn on only the zone in the back study the whole house is cooled. The system isn't even 2 years old and has broken down repeatedly. Obviously, spending 12 thousand plus dollars at Sun Kool is no insurance that you'll have air conditioning for any predictable length of time. Sun Kool had us sign up for a service contract, which meant that they'd come out twice a year for servicing and change the filter and respond to problems at no extra charge. They came out once this year (2021) as scheduled but apparently forgot to bother with the next visit and didn't show. Shortly thereafter on a Saturday night the system completely broke down again. I called Sun Kool twice on Sunday and got a recording each time. They responded after four hours. The name Sun Kool tells you what this company is all about. The temperature of the sun is 5,778 K. It's impossible for human beings to cool the sun. It is impossible for this company to properly install a HVAC system and keep it running. Maybe they chose the name Sun Kool as a kind of sniggering joke on the customer. So spare yourself a lot of agony, frustration and expense: do not do business with Sun Kool. read more

When do you call a plumber? Obviously, when it's raining and your roof is leaking. So, when do you think I called Sun Kool? Correct - during our heat wave (8 days of 100+ degrees). . . . . a little background. I actually called Sun Kool back in March, regarding an inspection I was having done by another company. I was so uncomfortable with the 'technicians' that were in my home, that I called the contractor who built my house and asked for his recommendation. (should have done this in the 1st place) Well I spoke with Diane in their office and everything basically worked out ok (in March). When I called in late June when my system failed - I was afraid that due to the heat-wave, I wouldn't be able to have service for weeks. Well - Diane answered the phone and remembered our conversation from March. I was surprised and impressed. She rearranged some schedules and I had a technician at my home the following morning. After the diagnosis of a "dead system", all I could think about was sleeping in 95 degree heat. Instead, Sun-Kool filled my leaking freon and I was able to cool my home down for the next 48 hours until they could install a new system. They suggested several systems - I googled each one and decided on the Goodman 3 ton unit. Two men came to my home with everything they needed to install my new system, including building a new plywood platform for the air handler, dropping in a new cement pad, switching out my circuit breakers and taking away my dead system, pvc pipes and all. When they left (5 hours later) - you never would have know they were here. My home (inside and out) was spotless - I really appreciate that. The county inspector arrived a few days letter, signed off on all their work and I am pleased to recommend Sun-Kool for all your heating and air conditioning questions and needs. read more

Spoke with an after hours technician when my AC cut out. He made it very clear he as busy and really didn't want to come out. He told me it would be a $99 service fee to come out, and even after I told him that was fine he continues to pressure me to just have sales come out in the morning to get a new system ordered. He advised that based on the age of my unit, it would need to be replaced and it would be two weeks before it could be put it. He was rude and clearly annoyed at having to work. He told me it would be "a while" before he came out since he had 5-6 people ahead of me. I ended up telling him not to bother. I went with someone else who had my AC back on it minutes. I posted a comment of my experience on Facebook, which was followed by a rude comment, deleting of the comment and then me no longer being able to comment on their page. I found them to be rude and condescending. The first guy that came out told me he had watched a video on how to do his job after I asked him if he knew what unit was mine. I live in a condo complex. Unit they put in does not cool my condo. On hot days it stays at 82 from noon until 7 or 8pm. I've had 3 or 4 employees out and they all say its working fine. They tell me its because I have high ceilings. My 23 yo unit managed to keep it cool. They really don't give a damn once they make the sale. read more

Basically looked at the unit for five minutes and then told us we needed a new AC and tried to sell us one. After he left my husband decided to look around and the cooling vent tube thing(that's the technical term) had come off and was blowing cold air into our attic. $.05 worth of duct tape fixed the problem and it works great now. read more

My company gave Sun Kool four chances to repair a broken thermostat. After the third time, Sun Kool sent the "supervisor" to my office to fix the problem. Notwithstanding his aggressive and extremely poor attitude, he was condescending, rude and told me that "being hot won't kill you." It became clear that he was not going to stop pouting like a four year old, so I told him to get out of my office and I called another repair service. Less than two hours after I fired Sun Kool I have working A/C. It is shocking that the supervisor of Sun Kool - which is an A/C repair service - thinks telling a consumer that "being hot won't kill you" is a reasonable response to their fourth unsuccessful attempt to repair a broken thermostat. My advice? Don't bother calling this company unless you have tolerance for a technician that behaves like a petulant child. read more

Looked at my central unit and instantly said I need a new AC unit due to it being 17yrs old. I requested a service call to REPAIR my system not try to sell me another one. I told him I an unable at this time and stated we finance, I told him when under bankruptcy I am not allowed to finance. After 10 mins back and forth to the truck and my unit and 5 cigarettes later from the so-called tech looking at the outside unit he said I was low on freon and said it will work in an hour or so and had me sign, pay, and leaves. Never did work after that hour. Called another company and they replaced the TXV valve and works now. I read in some other reviews that company policy dictates they offer the services of a new system, they need to teach their techs to repair firstly and as a last-ditch effort then offer a new system at that time. read more

Robert Jones (Village of Bonita) I was scheduled for first call May 31st, 2019 for first call in the morning (8:30AM). I called them at 10:00AM they told me he wouldn't make it until the afternoon. I said we need to reschedule for Monday June 3rd, 2019 8:30AM. She said she had to check with her Manager. She came back on the phone and said you are scheduled for 8:30AM first call. On Monday at 10:00AM I called them and said where is the technician. She told me he is not scheduled until 2:00PM. I explained that I was told they would be here at 8:30AM to replace the part. I find there service is unacceptable and would rate them as poor and will never use them again. I have been in the service business myself for over 50 years and would find this kind of service delivery as extremely poor and unsatisfactory to say the least. Living here in the Villages I will tell all my friends and others that Sun Kool service is very poor and can't be counted on to meet or exceed the customers expectation. We had a problem with our system a couple of times last summer. Sun Kool came out and recharged our system at that time. When our system went out this time, on a Sunday, we called Sun Kool Monday afternoon. Their representative came out on Tuesday to assess our needs. By Wednesday, we had a cool home again. They replaced our old system and the installers were very efficient and polite. They left our house cooling and even cleaned up afterwards, you couldn't tell they had been here and worked all day installing our system. We would recommend this company whole heartily.
