My parents have been using this company since they moved to Ocala, so my thought was, why change companies when they have been customers for years? When the technician arrived, one of the first things he asked my mom was how she was going to pay. He then told her that he would not do the work unless she showed him some form of payment. My mom showed him the card she planned to use. I found this extremely uncomfortable and honestly a little offensive. We would not schedule an appointment to have work done if we did not have the money to pay for it. Since this happened on a Friday evening, I called the company and left a voicemail. I did receive a call first thing Monday morning from Addy, who has always been very nice and professional with us. I asked her directly about what happened, and she explained that this is how the company conducts business because they have had customers schedule appointments, have the work completed, and then not pay. She said that customers are asked to show proof of payment when the technician arrives. I thanked her for explaining and hung up. But afterward, I couldn't stop thinking about the situation. I wondered whether we would have been treated the same way if my parents lived in The Villages or in a large, expensive home. I also couldn't help but wonder whether our last name being Perez played any part in how we were approached. I understand that a business needs to protect itself from customers who don't pay. However, there are professional ways to establish payment policies before sending a technician to someone's home. If proof of payment is required from every customer, that should be clearly explained when the appointment is scheduled--not when a technician is already standing inside an elderly customer's home telling her he will not perform the work until she proves she can pay. After being loyal customers for years, the interaction left me disappointed and questioning whether we should continue doing business with this company. It probably won't make much of a difference to the company whether we choose to come back or not, but I still felt this experience was worth mentioning. Sometimes the way a policy is communicated and handled can make just as much of an impression as the service itself. read more

This review is about Sunshine A/C near Leesburg. They installed my brand new unit. no problem. about a year and a couple months later it just quit. Called them. They came out in about 4 days. No a/c in Florida July heat is rough! The repairman fixed it easily. He stated...."a loose wire splice was not securely tightened when initially installed". Ok, but then the company charged me almost $100 to come out to fix their faulty work! I called and left a message regarding this, but NO ONE called me back. They would get the 5 stars, but not the way they handled this issue. read more

May 2025 - Just had JD & Brian replace my AC & Water Heater. They arrived just before 9 am and finished a little after 6 pm. They cleaned up very nicely and hung around for a while making sure that everything worked well. Good job. read more

On Monday, technician Tariq was promptly dispatched and quickly diagnosed a microleak at feeder tube to the coil. Schedulers forewarned us that part orders can take 2-3 business days. Fortunately, the new coil arrived in 1 day, and the repair was completed Wednesday morning. Hal from Sunshine Air Conditioning came to inspect and clean the ventilation system in a house I was renting, that hadn't been maintained for several years. From the moment of his arrival, he was unfriendly, and his attitude only worsened as he got to work. I pointed out mold growing on the refrigerant and drain lines, as well as the fiberglass lining a plywood compartment that fed directly into the air handler. The brown lines of water stains were clearly visible on the bottom. There was a strong smell of ammonia coming from there as well, and a musty odor came from the air vents whenever the air conditioning was running. Hal ran the air conditioning for less than five minutes, before declaring that there was no water leak. Since the air conditioning had been off for a long time before he arrived (the thermostat was set to 80, and the outside temperature was in the 60's), it's hard to believe that this brief period of operation allowed enough time for condensation or a blocked drain line to start leaking. He then decided to clean the compartment itself. This was a situation in which mold was growing on exposed fiberglass, a porous material that easily crumbles when scrubbed or torn. The compartment was on the air handler side of the air filter, meaning that any contaminants stirred up in there would be drawn directly into the air handler without passing through the filter. I've attached "before" and "after" photos of this operation. Hal used an abrasive cloth and vacuum to scrub away the top layer of fiberglass in places. I'm sure that he removed some mold in the process, but unfortunately his "regular shop vac" (his words) then blew the mold spores and fiberglass dust right out into the kitchen and living room of the house. Why a company that has a webpage devoted to "indoor air quality" would not invest a couple hundred dollars in a HEPA vacuum is beyond my understanding, but I believe that Hal made an already bad situation even worse. Now whenever the ventilation system is running, air is blown directly over newly exposed, abraded fiberglass, and the resulting fiberglass dust is circulated throughout the house. You can decide for yourself how unhealthy it is to inhale microscopic glass fibers into your lungs. I would rather avoid doing this myself. At the very least, fiberglass dust is a respiratory irritant, as anyone who has ever worked with fiberglass insulation knows. Unfortunately, my landlord hired Sunshine Air Conditioning, so I was not able to prevent this incompetent "cleaning" of the ventilation system. Please don't make the same mistake. read more

Sunshine installed a mini split system on my enclosed lanai and garage area. Their service and pricing are great. The sales team responded quickly and after finding the original manufacturer had a long back order for the parts needed to complete my job, Sunshine offered to upgrade the system to a better product that was immediately available at no extra cost to me. The installation was completed fast and professionally. I was also pleased that the additional cost to cool my garage work space was reasonable enough that I can enjoy that area now instead of being driven out by the heat. Poor service and communication skills. We scheduled a diagnostic evaluation , technician arrived but decided not to inspect the AC unit. He based his diagnosis on the company notes about a previous evaluation in 2016 ( different owner) that from their standpoint were never fix . Can you believe that!! I Insisted but no assessment was done, the technician had a poor attitude . Later on customer service called me with an estimate of $2200, from a 2016 evaluation??? We didn't trust, and call another company to find out , after a head to toe evaluation of the AC unit , that the problem Sunshine air conditioning quote for was already fixed. We spend $500 to resolved the current problem . We are so happy that we trusted our instincts and quoted with other company. read more

Called them to setup a service call. We just bought this house and not used this company before. Got number off of sticker on AC unit. When we called we got Vickie in Service. She informed me that do to high call volume and us not having a service contract that it would be 2 weeks or more. I will never ever use this company. There are to many other companies wanting business. Our AC is close to need to be replaced just based on years old, so they lost a new sale as well. read more

Moved into this house only a short time ago and noticed Sunshine had initially installed the a/c unit. Unit has been working great until waking up early this AM. Dead, no cooling. I called Sunshine air conditioning explained my issue and they said they can have a technician out to diagnose the problem 10-12 today. Great ! Their technician, Arthur arrived 10am and went to work after I explained what had happened. He immediately diagnosed it as the capacitor in the condensing unit outside. He explained that if I had the contract with them the $84 service charge would be waved. I signed up ! With the contract the total a/c unit was tested and cleaned (I watched the process and was impressed) So to conclude, Arthur was a very polite and knowledgeable service tech. Explained everything. The unit is up and running and I have a 1 year service agreement if I have any future problems. Thanks Sunshine read more

Called sunshine air conditioning as they were the ones who installed the unit in my home. I am the second owner. My unit went out on Friday and to my surprise no service available. A tech called me on Saturday and I told them I was the second owner and he informed me that the 10 year warranty did not apply to me even though the unit was only 8 1/2 years old. Waited until Monday with no air conditioning to call the office and got the same answer. My advice is do not get a new carrier air unit. It is simply a piece of junk. Go with Train or American Standard and get a quality unit. That is what I am going to do. read more

We had just put our house on the market and I walked out into the garage to find a good size puddle of water and also in the AC closet. Of course I called sunshine air conditioning because we are members of the comfort club. Even though it was right at 4 o'clock, Quitting time, Todd came over and it only took him 15 minutes to unfreeze and unclog our line. He was so accommodating because he didn't have to come after he clocked out. I also asked him a question unrelated to the AC and he graciously addressed the issue with his opinion. I don't post a lot of 5 star reviews on Yelp, but this company earned it. Living in FL with a broken AC is not the most ideal situation, especially when it's been in the 90s. I called Sunshine air conditioning this morning with my issue and they stated they can have a technician out to diagnose the problem today. Their technician, Shedrian, arrived on time and went directly to work after a brief interview about the issue. It took about 30 mins to diagnose and replace the capacitor before we began to feel the cooler air. At the completion of the job Shedrian knocked on my door, explained what he did to fix the issue, and had me sign the completed work order. I checked the work site and it was completely cleaned up. Great job Shedrian, thank you. This is the kind of contractor we need to support in The Villages. Not just looking for the most expensive item to replace, but really concerned about their customer service reputation. We have been with sunshine air since 2005. The last 3 we did not renew our.comfort club membership due to rising prices. Our AC broke this week so of course they were the 1st ones I called. I was informed that since I was no longer a comfort club member ( maintenance package) that they would not be able to help us for 7 to 10 days. We live in Florida and it is September where the temperatures are still in the mid 90s. Needless to say we could not wait that long so they are not currently, as I right this, installing our new AC system that we needed. Most of us in this neighborhood stuck with Sunshine air over the years because they were the ones who installed our AC when we built our homes. I'm now passing the word along to not count on them when you really need them. read more
