Surf Lessons from
South Bay Surfing Local
Sarah Foley
Sarah is a South Bay original and has been surfing since she was a grom (surfing term for kiddo). Now she is taking all of that experience and bringing it to you as described in her instagram https://www.instagram.com/sunkissed_surflessons/ feed as a Surf Coach and Surf Mentor. Also in her IG she lists both group and private lessons.
Since I was in a riding funk, having issues with catching waves, BTW surfing is the easiest thing to learn, the hardest thing is learning how to catch waves, so I found Sarah on IG as a coach who could teach me some longboarding stuff.
I booked a 5 lesson package and Sarah was able to meet me before work at the south end of the El Porto lot, which can be accessed from 45th street and Highland Ave in Manhattan Beach. I had my own stuff, but if you don't have a board Sarah can bring one of some depending on how many are in your group.
We started the lesson with me paddling out and trying to catch a wave. Sarah was able to see what my bad habits were and why I wasn't able to drop into the wave, so she paddled out to meet me in the water to explain what I was doing and not doing. I am not going to tell you since your probably want to know, but in that case you will need to hire Sarah as a coach.
So the next day I paddled out at my local break and I was catching almost every wave, and now that I was better at catching waves I realized that I wasn't so great at riding waves which we covered in the next lessons.
I can't speak for Sarah as a beginner coach, but she is very patient so if you have a grom or two that you want to learn how to surf. Trust me hire a coach to do this since she will hope boost their confidence.
