The team arrived on time with surfboards, bodyboards, tent and wetsuits for the kids. They helped them every step of the way and were engaged 100% of the time. I really appreciated that while the coaches worked with the kids there was always one coach who was just looking out for their safety. They easily gained the kids' trust and I was surprised how kids who had zero interest in surfing eventually tried it and had fun doing it, thanks to the coaches' encouragement and enthusiasm. Perfect combination of fun and professional! They were also a pleasure to work with on email/phone/text amd that's so important to busy working mamas like me. I'll certainly reach out to them again the next time we have a beach party or want to try out a surf camp.

The boards were in good condition and they have boogie boards as well. Knowing that I would need a patient instructor and after reading the reviews in Yelp, I figured that I would give Pacific Coast Surf Company a try. Emily suggested we do the lesson in Redondo Beach. I met her down at the beach and she was very professional and asked me what I wanted to work on. After explaining that I needed help with my pop up and timing on catching waves we did some dry land training before we paddled out. Once out in the water she was very patient and saw all of the areas of improvement that I needed. We worked on some things in the water and came back on the sand so she could show me some things before we paddled back out again. Emily is an awesome surf coach and was an excellent teacher for a novice level surfer. If you are looking take lessons I highly recommend her.

I was looking to book a two-person lesson as a surprise date situation for myself and my special lady friend. I explained the deal to Emily via email and she responded immediately and enthusiastically and recommended Redondo beach because there would be plenty of free street parking on a weekday morning (bonus!). Emily is really observant, kind, patient, and encouraging. This was not only the best first time surfing lesson I could have asked for it also turned out to be a total hit with my date. Fantastic experience with Mike!…read more I booked some time for me (A somewhat experienced surfer with years of rust who had fallen out of shape) and my buddy (Brand new to surfing but in great shape. Mike was great. Met us with board and wetsuits and met each of us at our level. He was very hands on and out there in the water with us the whole time. We met by the bathrooms of El Porto by lifeguard station 12 and picked up our wetsuits from their cars. From there, we headed towards a less crowded portion of the water by the rocks, and did a quick yoga flow before going into the basics of how to pop up and hold the board. After the lesson, we got assigned our boards and went off into the water. I think both instructors tried to spread their attention as evenly as possible. I was able to stand up multiple times and surf some one-foot waves (go me!). The time flew by, and once it was over, we brought the surfboards back to their cars. They'll take Venmo for tips. I would suggest wearing your flip flops to the beach since the ground was really hot, and also bringing a water bottle for post-surf. There's paid parking available in the lot although the meters seem to be broken since I still got a ticket even though my parking should've been valid. Otherwise there's very limited street parking. You can leave your valuables in the instructor's car. You can book private lessons on the website or small group lessons as well. Definitely book the lesson - it's a great workout and you'll have so much fun!
