I am extremely disappointed with my recent experiences at Sun Devil Auto - Cave Creek and am now questioning whether the services I paid for were actually performed. Most recently, I brought my 2014 Jeep Wrangler in for an oil change, tire rotation, and brake fluid flush. During the visit, I received both a phone call and a message informing me that my brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. Since I am capable of doing brake work myself, a friend and I inspected the brakes today before proceeding with any repairs. What we found was concerning. The brake pads still have approximately 75% of their life remaining, and the rotors are in good condition with less than 20,000 miles of wear. There was absolutely no need for either component to be replaced. This experience has caused me to question the accuracy and integrity of the inspections being performed. A few months earlier, I paid Sun Devil Auto to flush the radiator coolant, differential fluid, and transmission fluid. Given the incorrect recommendation regarding my brakes, I am now left wondering whether those services were actually completed as billed. I understand that mistakes can happen, but recommending unnecessary brake work is a serious issue that undermines trust. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! The team at SunDevil Autobody in Cave Creek, and especially Alex, went above and beyond for our family, and we are beyond grateful. After my son endured a traumatic and unwarranted attack that left him with serious injuries, we worked incredibly hard to buy him his dream car--a Mustang 5.0. Though it's a decade old, it still looks brand new, and to say my son loves this car more than anything would be an understatement. Unfortunately, about six months after he got his license, the clutch went out. SunDevil promptly replaced it, along with a few other minor fixes they found along the way. Roughly two weeks later, my son was finally reunited with his "baby" and couldn't have been happier. Then, just three weeks later, disaster struck again--the clutch literally exploded and a piece got lodged into the motor. We rushed it right back to SunDevil, where the initial thought was that the engine had seized. For a couple of weeks, we braced for the worst, thinking we'd have to replace the entire motor. And this is where Alex became our absolute lifesaver. Alex was with us every step of the way--from the first clutch replacement to the nightmare of what seemed like a seized engine. Instead of just giving us bad news and calling it a day, he went the extra mile, suggesting we look into the extended warranty and personally working with the warranty company to see if we could get a new motor covered. But here's where SunDevil's expertise truly shines--after digging even deeper into the motor, Alex and his team discovered that it wasn't a seized engine at all--a piece of the brand-new clutch had gotten stuck, preventing the engine from turning over. It turned out to be a manufacturer issue, and they replaced the clutch at no cost to us. Then, just when we thought we were in the clear, our check engine light popped on right as we needed to pass emissions for registration. Talk about when it rains, it pours! But yet again, Alex came through--he told us about an Arizona program that helps cover emissions-related repairs, walked us through the entire process, and even drove the car down for the final emissions test before returning it to us. They saved us a ton of money and an incredible amount of stress. It's now been a few months since the final repairs, and the Mustang is running perfectly. My son is back to driving his pride and joy, and I can't begin to express how thankful we are to Alex and the entire SunDevil Autobody team. DO NOT LET THEM SERVICE YOUR VEHICLE!! Yesterday, 9-09-2025, I came to the shop for repair on my rear tire. They told my they will patch the tire because there was a nail. Instead they used of a patch as the invoice states a plug was used, not a patch. After waiting for almost two hours, I paid and left the store, next thing you know I ended up in the freeway center lane, the plug came off, see video. I almost got rear ended by traffic. I called the office and was told the tire was old and probably there was another air leak some where. This is all BS because clearly the vide shows the plug is gone. My vehicle is an old one and I am aware of other minor repairs, they gave an stimate of over $3,000. and I told no, because the repair is more than the vehicle is worth. How could I trust them with a repair when they cant even repair a tire? SO DO NOT TAKE THE RISK, DONT LET THEM "REPAIR" YOUR VEHICLE. read more

I actually had two appointments at Sun Devil Auto this week: an A/C check and recharge for my wife's VW Bug and an oil change for my Ford Mustang. I have been to this location for oil changes before. Front desk: Always friendly service! Information I have been given has always been accurate. Oli change: Done professionally and was less than an hour. I usually do not have my tires rotated with my oil change. Their new online information regarding the vehicle inspection and areas of concern was excellent. I will be following up on the recommendations. A/C work: The tech guy working on my VW was Evan. He was great! He thoroughly explained the level of coolant the car had (6 years, 70K miles) and recharged the system. He also researched the part needed to fix a different issue with the A/C and gave me a ball park estimate of what the repair would cost. He told me that the part is on back order, so I decided that we will revisit this issue next spring before the hot Arizona weather kicks in. I appreciated the research that he did. I've used coupons for each service I've received here. They are readily available on the shop's website. They have allowed me to take at least a little bit off the cost each visit. The prices for the services I've received have been very fair. So ... as you can see, I feel like I have been treated very well at this business. Recently the air conditioner of my car became dead and I brought my car to SDA. Alex did a good job. And I was releaved.

I give them one star for friendliness. At the front desk. I had worked with them for over 6 months. Repairing a 2010. F250 pick up with the engine light on the code is evap leak. They first changed the fuel cap, did not work, then they change the fuel tank. They said it was cracked, did not fix it. changed the fuel sending unit end yvap, canister valves did not fix it. Even the PCM now, I am into it for over three thousand dollars, and I still have the same light and the same code lots of parts replacing little diagnosing i strongly would not recommend this location. Talk a good story, but don't have the capability. Save your money and find a reliable shop that can do more than change oil. I did not have my oil changed here, nor would I. Where do I begin ? My mother's car was towed to Sun devil last week ( Tuesday ) - car was in their possession for over a week with no phone calls and no follow ups. We made countless visits there and made numerous phone calls trying to get a diagnosis and a timeline. That being said, there was obvious tension brewing because of the lack of urgency and feeling ignored. We understand it was a holiday week, but that shouldn't excuse the fact that a simple phone call would've went a long way. What has happened to customer service ? Each time we visited the shop ( because no-one would return our calls ) the stories kept changing ... started off as the clutch, then possibly a seized motor, now over a week later, we're still not sure. Apparently the technician, Evan ( who they refer to as a genius) , has been waiting on a 'tool' to check to see if it's the clutch ( which he said looked to be damaged ). My mother was told the 'tool' would be in by Saturday .. .( NOPE ) ... still waiting, but in the meantime no phone call, no follow up... nothing. If you don't want customers coming in all fired up, maybe you could ask your service advisor, Greg, to dedicate some time to call your customers to keep them up to date on what's going on. It may also be beneficial not make false promises on when a vehicle will be fixed if you still have no idea what the actual problem is. Needless to say, we won't be going back and we obviously don't recommend them AT ALL!! Getting your car repaired is stressful enough and then you find yourself at places like this. Terrible. Summary and follow up - They had my mother's car for 11 days before a diagnosis of a faulty starter, fuel pump, and needing spark plugs ( what happened to the clutch looking bad !!?? ) . The technician AKA 'genius' took days and hours or labor time to come to this conclusion. The repair/ labor cost my mother $1,700 !!! Now we're left wondering why was so much attention put on a clutch that visibly looked 'bad', come to find out, it's fine ? DON'T GO HERE !! There are plenty of reputable places in the area. I wasn't going to write a review but after thinking more about it, I thought I should. I brought my car in because there was smoke coming from the engine. They diagnosed it as a turbo hose that needed to be replaced. After finding out the high cost, we decided it would be best that I pay the diagnosis fee and get it to the dealer where it was fully covered by a warranty. When I went to pick up the car, it had a hard time starting right away and the gas pedal wasn't responding properly, I thought the car may not make it home. My engine light was also now on and my NAV screen said there were multiple possible conditions that have accorded and a full system check was necessary. I called Sun Devil to find out what happened as it was perfectly fine other than the leak/smoking when I dropped it off. The manager was very engaging and very interested in finding out what happened. When I spoke with him a few days later (I called him back, he never called me), I told him I had the car towed to the dealer and they found the high pressure fuel pump unplugged and the fuel line partially connected. The dealer was surprised it ran at all. The manager said he would check into it. He ultimately said, "the technician said that sometimes these slowly come undone by themselves". The manager is a master technician. He should know that's BS. What he should have said was that someone who put everything back together didn't plug things back in that they unplugged when they originally searched for the problem. I would have been fine with that. I was sure that's what happened, so when I originally called I just wanted the manager to know so they could figure out what went wrong in their process and/or train his employees to prevent this type of error from happening in the future. I've used Sun Devil for decades at various locations so I'm extremely disappointed that I was told this information instead of a simple explanation and apology. read more

I called and spoke w Greg (maybe Craig) on Tuesday. I explained in detail about a howling noise that was coming from the rear end of our a Cayenne and told him it was time for an oil change as well. Greg asked if I could leave the vehicle that day w him and I told him it was our only vehicle and we could not. Greg said let's schedule an appointment for Wednesday, where we could stay and wait for it, and so we did. When we arrived Greg said it would be a little over an hour to change the oil and drive the Cayenne, so they could give us Sun Devil Autos opinion on what was wrong w the rear end (wheel bearings etc) After 2+ hours of waiting, Greg told me he didn't have time to have someone drive the car to the next stop light and back. It was the entire reason we chose his company. I told Greg I'd be willing to wait another 5-10 minutes, if someone could drive the vehicle now. Greg told me only one person could do that and he didn't have the time to stop doing what he was doing to drive the car 5 for minutes. Greg would not follow through on what he promised. Thank goodness I got additional bids for this expense. The dealership was literally 1/3 this quote. I brought my Nissan in for an oil change. When it was time to pay for the service, I was asked "do you plan on keeping this vehicle." I was then provided with an extensive repair list. My guess is my gray hair suggested that I might not be knowledgeable about my car and that I would gullible and believe whatever they told me.. When I got home, I pulled the file on my car. Guess what! All of the work that was suggested (thousands of dollars) had already been done on my vehicle and most by the Nissan dealership. I brought my 2012 Cadillac SRX for an oil change. Car started to leak motor oil, brought it back to Sun Devil. They put it on the rack and stated they could not find the oil leak... they did nothing to it. Told me if it continued to leak, bring it back and that they would do a steam clean and see if they could locate the oil leak- this would have cost me $80. 00. I then decided to take it to Scardino Automotive. In less than 30min, he found the oil leak and told me that whoever changed my oil did not tighten the oil filter, he charged me $52.00. I then called Sun Devil and told them, since I felt they should know. Manager at Sun Devil tells me I should have brought it back to them (what a joke). I got no satisfaction from Sun Devil! I was very disappointed and very angry. I brought my car in for timing belt and check engine light. They told me that sensor lever on the intake manifold was broken (which I saw it popped off), but they said the entire intake manifold would need replaced for $1,800 (parts and labor) and then whatever the price of the timing belt system would be, I would be paying over $2,000 (parts and labor for everything). I took my car to another mechanic and they fixed the timing belt and sensor lever all for around $900 (parts and labor) and the manifold didn't need replaced just the sensor lever which was very little cost. I think Sun Devil Auto over charges and fix things that don't need fixing. To me this is very dishonest and taking advantage of people who may have little or no knowledge of cars. I will never use their services ever again because I don't trust their judgement. read more

My wife experienced a flat tire on Pinnacle Peak road and pulled over unfortunately, on an unstable side of the road. Really struggling, Scott of Sun Devil Auto (Cave Creek location) while driving in the opposite direction turned around, pulled behind my wife car and thankfully provided a safe situation to change the tire. He changed the tire in 5 minutes and she was on her way. They have earned our business based on this unselfish and kind act. I come to this location frequently for oil changes as they are the cheapest in the valley. On top of that, every time I call to see if they can get me in for an oil change, they always have an opening. It's nice that I don't have to wait a week for an oil change appointment. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. And their work is most always completed within the timeframe they give. If it seems to be taking longer, they are communicative as to why. The management at Sun Devil Auto is terrible. I installed a brand new Icon stage 5 system on my truck today. Took it straight to Sun Devil Auto for an alignment. I was quoted $89 ended up paying $110 because a supposedly loose bolt. Craig up front is why people don't trust mechanics. I was told after the alignment that he couldn't align the vehicle perfectly because of the lift. Hey Craig why did you tell me you could align the vehicle knowing I installed a lift if you couldn't do it? Brand new business in Cave Creek needs to leave. Stay away is my advice.
