We were attending an event at Nova and my daughter wanted sushi. We did a Yelp search and Sumo came up. I remembered coming here with a friend when they first opened and remembered liking it. We started with the takoyaki. It was absolutely delicious and my daughter said it was one of the best she's had. We also ordered spicy edamame. It was okay. My husband was happy with them. My daughter and I shared 3 rolls. Salmon skin (we added cream cheese), the Gamdam and the Orange dragon roll. We loved all 3. The Gamdam was my favorite. The different textures were just perfect. My husband had spicy drunken noodles with chicken. He said it was perfectly spicy. Service was very friendly. We got there about 45 minutes before closing and we never felt rushed. But what I do know is I tried two of them and they were both excellent. As for me I had spicy undon noodles with chicken. I got it very spicy! Exceptional customer service! We were taken very well by our demand server. Food was delicious. The fish was high quality and fresh. I hate the fishy fish taste and this place did not disappoint!! Sumo Asian Kitchen has a cute, casual, very clean, modern interior and friendly efficient service. They don't serve alcohol but you can BYOB and there's a liquor store in the same strip mall as the restaurant. The menu is huge. Of note we had the Volcano Prawn Teppan, one of the Chef's specials. The sauce was unbelievably flavorful and the prawns were huge and perfectly cooked. I will return to try more of the curries and other Chef's specials b/c s/he clearly knows how to cook. This is my girlfriend and I'd new comfort food spot. It was our second time here and we have yet to have had a bad experience. My girlfriend ordered her pad Thai with medium spice but it ended up being too spicy for our taste buds, and they replaced it with no issues and VERY quickly. Delicious and cute sushi spot! My bf and I I came for lunch today and we loved it! The restaurant is decorated with Japanese artwork and signs. My husband and I discovered this lovely restaurant over the summer. We have gone back multiple times and have never been disappointed. We have dined in, ordered through door dash and ordered take out directly from the restaurant and have enjoyed each experience. The dishes are each a wonderful balance of flavors. Our favorite so far is the Salmon coconut curry. Every dish we have had has been delicious. The servers are pleasant and welcoming. Beer has taken care of us more than once and remembers us and welcomes us back. The restaurant is clean. The decor is both beautiful and fun. There is a gorgeous cherry blossom tree decorating the sushi bar, anime posters are on the wall, and anime figurines throughout the restaurant. They all help mirror the asian fusion themed menu. This restaurant opened recently. It's just a few doors north of Vicky's Bakery and next to the Falcon pub. It's in a strip mall, so there's a decent amount of parking. The eatery is very clean and nicely decorated with a modern Asian flair. There is a vast menu with lots of Asian food, mostly Japanese with a touch of Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, etc. We went at lunchtime and opted for the $19.99 lunch special, which offered you a soup or salad, a main entree, a side dish, a sushi roll, and a beverage. My husband got the sashimi special. My daughter ordered the chicken teriyaki (it was tender and tasty), and I got the Korean bulgogi (very savory). We each loved our meals and tasted items from each other's. The lunch boxes offered a wonderful variety that was delicious and very filling. Their wasabi knocked my socks off, almost literally. Because just a dab had my senses reeling, so be warned that it is fresh and potent. Our server, who I recognized from another restaurant (Kubo Asian Fusion--same owners), was extremely helpful and friendly. We got a hearty farewell from her and the sushi chefs when we were leaving. Came back again on Friday 5/16 this time with my 3 year old and it was yet again another great experience. They don't have a kids menu which I thought would be tough but they were accommodating in suggesting options they believed a toddler would like and they were right. They were very friendly with her and even took the time to engage her as a guest which I appreciated. We ordered the bulgolgi bao buns, 3 rolls and the Ube cheesecake along with a lychee pea butterfly tea with strawberry popping boba. My goodness . Absolutely fantastic Sushi place! Our son and daughter-in-law were in town for the holiday and we wanted to get Sushi but wasn't sure where to go. We looked on yelp and the reviews to this place looked amazing but they still don't do it justice. The Sushi was absolutely out of this world fantastic. We got the boat for 2 which was reasonably priced at $59 and it definitely could feed more than 2, but we also got 6 additional specialty rolls. We've had sushi all over the country in big, small, famous, and dive spots...the sushi itself was easily top 3 and the price is very reasonable compared to the large portions you get. Anyway I took the advice of some Yelpers and ordered two of the popular appetizers; the fire ball and sisig bao buns. Both were outstanding. I've had sisig at a Filipino restaurant before and this was just as good if not better. The pork was tender and had a great slightly smoky flavor. The fried avocado was to die for. We also ordered a variety of sushi rolls, all salmon because that's our favorite fish, and it was incredibly fresh. I'd definitely come back and try more of the rolls and cooked dishes as everything everyone around us ordered also looked great. The staff were so friendly and you can tell they really care about the business. The inside is decorated so cute with playful anime art. They have a huge menu with a great selection. Very creative drinks (mocktails) and boba. We ended up getting the Scallop Crudo, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Thai Tea, and Chicken Katsu Curry Don. Everything was incredible. Flavorful, fresh, perfectly crispy! I thought the portion size was also great for the cost. We ended the meal with Ube Cheesecake that was to die for! I've recently discovered this restaurant and the food has been great, which is why this experience was so disappointing. The service started off normal, but when it came time to pay, something was off. Usually, there's a screen where you can choose your tip amount yourself before you actually pay. Ive been here before so thats why I am aware of this. This time, the device was already on the payment screen when it was handed to me--and I later realized an 18% tip had already been added without my consent. What made it worse is that I actually saw our server, Aimeree (as listed on the receipt), tapping the device for some time and adding the tip herself when my friends were each paying. She INTENTIONALLY ADDED HER OWN TIP! When I got my receipt and saw the 18% tip already included, it confirmed what I noticed. Our table had fewer than 6 people, so there shouldn't have been any automatic gratuity. I am truly so DISGUSTED by her behavior. I'm a college student and I work hard for my money, so having someone take advantage of my hard earned money just for her own tip is NOT OKAY!!! It is truly so DISAPPOINTING because I do recognize the hard work servers have to do which is why I do usually tip well. However, the fact that she added her own tip felt very sly and manipulative. The food may be good, but this completely ruined the experience. Having a server add their own tip and taking advantage of college students has left a really bad taste in my mouth, and because of this, I won't be coming back! I saw another review on here where someone else had this happen to them as well.
