Ok Sumo! I just love how my yelpie besties never steer me wrong! Sumo Asian kitchen offers such a nice environment for any occasion. Its decor is playful and eclectic and just brings a smile. I wish the actual restaurant was more visible to the public. It's a bit hidden behind construction I enjoyed everything we tried here. My notable favorites were the bao buns, ramen and sushi. The ramen has a rich broth made with amor. The sushi was fresh and so picture worthy. The bao buns made my husband order more The boba was not good. The tea yes, the boba was too tough. We will be back for sure

I needed something close to where we were, and my daughter wanted sushi and this place was right around the corner. We started with a couple of appetizers takoyaki and spicy edamame. Both were very good. After that my wife and daughter three rolls. A salmon skin and two other one that I can not remember the names of. But what I do know is I tried two of them and they were both excellent. As for me I had spicy undon noodles with chicken. I got it very spicy! It was hot but not hot to the point where it was difficult to eat. It was also very good. I would definitely recommend eating here.

We needed a quick dinner before catching a show, and this place was perfect. The food came out fast, and our server was incredibly friendly--she walked us through the specialties and offered great recommendations. The cozy décor added to the experience, and every dish was flavorful and delicious. The Stuffed Tuna with truffle appetizer was outstanding, and the Hokkaido Roll was just as impressive. Highly recommend!

Came on a Friday night around 8:30 and got a table right away. It was a bit busy inside but we ordered an app and our sushi rolls. It took more than 30 mins for us to get our edamame and the restaurant was emptying out. So it was a tad bit frustrating but it came out hot and fresh. Maybe 10 mins later we got our sushi! The food was great. Presentation was also really cool. I would come again and give it a shot for the service and wait time. Our waitress was really nice though. It's a cool spot!

This is one of my favorite Asian restaurants in this area. They have amazing quality for all dishes. The sushi is always fresh, the bao buns are soft/flavorful , the meat dishes come out on sizzling hot plates. It has so many options if you like Asian food and even have some traditional Filipino dishes like sisig The service depends on how busy they are but the servers are always informative and helpful.

Super cute place to hang out and order some great food. Casual, clean and great service. Ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer. They came out quick. They were crunchy and came with a great sauce. The prawns are one of their specialties so I decided to order them. I am so glad I did. Super fresh, they came out on a sizzling plate. Beautifully presented. They were delicious. No liquor license but they have some awesome mocktails and the best boba teas! I ordered the Lychee lemonade omg, still thinking about it. In fact, I will probably go back for one today. Definitely support this small business. It's so worth it!!!

My husband and I discovered this lovely restaurant over the summer. We have gone back multiple times and have never been disappointed. We have dined in, ordered through door dash and ordered take out directly from the restaurant and have enjoyed each experience. The dishes are each a wonderful balance of flavors. Our favorite so far is the Salmon coconut curry. Every dish we have had has been delicious. The servers are pleasant and welcoming. Beer has taken care of us more than once and remembers us and welcomes us back. The restaurant is clean. The decor is both beautiful and fun. There is a gorgeous cherry blossom tree decorating the sushi bar, anime posters are on the wall, and anime figurines throughout the restaurant. They all help mirror the asian fusion themed menu. Despite being relatively new, this is definitely one of our favorite spots and we look forward to each meal we have.

We had an event at the University across the street and luckily Yelp identified this excellent choice. Sumo Asian Kitchen has a cute, casual, very clean, modern interior and friendly efficient service. They don't serve alcohol but you can BYOB and there's a liquor store in the same strip mall as the restaurant. The menu is huge. Of note we had the Volcano Prawn Teppan, one of the Chef's specials. The sauce was unbelievably flavorful and the prawns were huge and perfectly cooked. I will return to try more of the curries and other Chef's specials b/c s/he clearly knows how to cook. Highly recommend this little gem

My second time here and it doesn't disappoint! Started with the Bulgogi Bao Bun, and enjoyed the One Piece Roll and a JB Roll. The service is just as good as the first time! Our server is attentive, made great recommendations, and patient with our little one. The aesthetic and ambiance is something to enjoy. The music selection is great and the neon signs are my favorite touch in this place. Then we finished it off with the Basque Burnt Ube Cheesecake I will definitely be back!

I'm back months later to reiterate that Sumo has one of the best lunch deals in the city. This diy bento box, plus a drink for $20. It's fulfilling, fresh and tasty. What more can you ask for!

Delicious and cute sushi spot! My bf and I I came for lunch today and we loved it! The restaurant is decorated with Japanese artwork and signs. Our server was really nice along with who I think was the manager who came to check on us. Our food tasted so good and sushi was fresh. The portions are good size to share. The ultraman roll was so fire! I can't wait to come back and try their ramen. I love that this sushi spot is less than 10 min away from me. Definitely worth a try and will be back soon!

This is my girlfriend and I'd new comfort food spot. It was our second time here and we have yet to have had a bad experience. My girlfriend ordered her pad Thai with medium spice but it ended up being too spicy for our taste buds, and they replaced it with no issues and VERY quickly. Service is always lovely and we enjoy the ambiance of the space. Menu has all kinds of options like ramen, sushi, fried rice and more, so there's always something for everyone in your party. We're very happy with this new restaurant and will be going back to try more ASAP!

It smelled so, so good. I had called and the guy said they were not busy. We walk in and the lady asked if we had a reservation. Wish he would have mentioned that but anyway, we were sat right away. Our server took quite a while to come over. When she did, she was very nice. We started with Kirin beers that were ice cold. He ordered some fancy eel roll. I had a piece but I am not a fan of eel. It did seem well put together. My JB roll was the best one I ever had. Truly delicious and fresh. We also ordered Mongolian beef. This was really delicious and not overly salted. I was surprised the portion wasn't bigger for a $25 price. Still, very tasty. The side dish of brown rice came about 10 minutes after the dish arrived. This was a bit annoying. We ordered the fried rice with chicken and shrimp later on. When it arrived, I thought it didn't look great. That all changed when I tasted it. The flavors here for the hot food items are very authentic. This dish doesn't seem to photograph well either but let me tell you, it is awesome! There are big tasty shrimps in there, maybe 6 of them. They don't even really show up here. The chicken is also fantastic. This is an excellent restaurant I want to go back to soon.

I am Vietnamese born in the States and grew up Philadelphia and Northern Virginia, both places that have a sizeable Vietnamese population, so I spent most of the last few years wondering where good Vietnamese food is around Miami. Well, a few minutes inside and we already knew this place is legit. It's small but comfortable, the staff is attentive, and the food is authentic. My wife and I started with the banana blossom chicken salad which came with a perfectly seasoned sweet fish sauce (in case you're wondering, banana blossom is not sweet or fruity but has a slightly floral slightly earthy flavor like a mild artichoke). I got the Com Ga Ninh Kieu, which is similar to a Hainan chicken if you're familiar with that - yellow poached chicken is served with rice thats cooked wiht the chicken juices and broth, topped with crispy fried onions (or shallots, I forgot) and a side of sweet ginger-y fish sauce; the meat was juicy but still packed with flavor. My wife got the chicken pho, which came with the same juicy and simple but tasty chicken, and a broth that wasn't too salty but still packed with chicken flavor. The food was all delicious and reminded me of the same no-frills tasty cooking that my family grew up with in Philadelphia; even the veggies on the side were legit. To my surprise after reading online, the owners actually immigrated to Philadelphia before eventually relocating to Florida! My only wish is that this place was closer to downtown Miami so I could come try the rest of the menu.

I came here with some friends and we had the opportunity to stay and order different dishes all Of which came freshly Prepared by the owner/chef who personally Stopped by the table several times to make sure everything was going well. The service was super cordial and they truly made us feel at home. The restaurant itself occupies 2 shops in the strip mall, one side holds the kitchen and the takeout area, and the other side has the smallish dining area. I must say that they keep the temperature warm... I am always cold in restaurants and I was not cold here- and the kitchen side was definitely hot. As far as the food: everything is cooked to order, so do expect a delay in service. One side of the table was eating and finished before the food for the other side of the table came out: we were a table for 8; so expect to stay a while and have plenty of conversation time before your food arrives... but you will see that it is super fresh and delicious. We do recommend it and will Definitely be coming here again!

Everything arrived within 40 min, still hot. I ordered a ramen broth, an order of tempura shrimp along with the spicy yaki udon. The udon was not spicy at all, but very delicious. Not sure why it's referred to as "spicy", there was not a single sight of red or green chilies. I would have loved for it to have a kick of spice, but nevertheless, still delicious. The appetizer shrimp a fail, they did feel a bit chewy/ rubbery, and dry. This was not my favorite. The hot ramen broth was soothing and on a cool day like today, well worth it. I wish that my order had arrived with chopsticks, or some type of utensils. None were provided, not even napkins. And I was a little disappointed that no sauces were provided, not even for the noodles. Often times some oriental places will provide siracha or some type of chill sauce. Perhaps this places does not offer those condiments? I wish that I could have given this a 4, even 5 star, but ordering from a food service one would hope the meal arrived with at least chopsticks, or some napkins. If I visit the restaurant in person, I'll be sure to update my review then.

The ribs had ample enough meat and glazed to perfection where I didn't feel cheated. The espresso martini was not too sweet and not overbearing with the espresso taste which for me felt really smooth going down and enjoyable. The tiger prawn was in this buttery type of sauce that was so succulent and juicy, my only complaint was that there wasn't more cause one is not enough by any means.
