Safeside has all your shooting needs and very knowledgeable staff. Now, I can tell you of course…read morethere are other places to shoot (namely if you prefer to shoot outdoors - I do when weather permits) But the rangemasters at Safeside have always been helpful and willing to offer tips for successful shooting w.out coming off as know it alls or gun snobs. To that point, I've been shooting since I was a child and know there's always a new trick or two to learn so be open minded. I mainly added thia part to remind some of the posts complaining about "less than super prompt" service. I can only surmise that many of those folks are the fashionably new gun owners...hey, welcome to the club, but understand firearms, firearms training & safety are NOT fast food nor are they one size fits all. Sometimes a purchase, upgrade or repair to your arms takes some troubleshooting and conversing. If it pains you to wait for 10 minutes while 2 gun enthusiasts discuss a new upgrade, then get over it....or go get ripped off at a pawn shop where bobody cares abt your wallet or your safety.

I have not been able to use the range yet, however, hopefully I will find time to soon. That being…read moresaid, the two times I have been in there the staff has been incredibly friendly. Today a gentleman spent over an hour patiently walking me through suppressors so I could learn about them as I decide what I want to do. I really wish I could remember his name. He would even say "if I am telling you something you know please let me know." Very knowledgeable and friendly. Everyone there was very friendly. Wonderful business.

The person behind the counter is either unaware of, or vastly misinterpreting, federal gun laws. I…read morewanted to take my girlfriend and her friend shooting. As soon as I asked about renting a 9mm, he started to look at us suspiciously and asked how old we were. I am 21 and my friends are both 20. I figured that i could rent the weapon, since i am 21 and legally able to purchase a handgun, and then teach thr other two how to use it, since they are both over the age of 18 (which is the federally mandated legal age to posses a handgun). My first problem here was that when I tried to show him my ID (I was using my mil ID because it was the first one available in my wallet), he wouldn't look at it. Secondly, he started explaining his reasoning behind not letting us shoot there. His reasons were that they, the two 20 year olds, were not legally able to posses a handgun. He then went on to explain a hypothetical situation in which an ATF agent would walk through the door and demand to see IDs from the three of us. He further went into the hypothetical saying that we would all be arrested for A) the two 20 year olds possessing a handgun and B) he and myself for providing them with it. My issue here is that none of what he said is actually true, and that he spoke in a aggressive tone of voice that made it seem like he was speaking down at us. If he hadn't spoken to me like I was a high-schooler coming in to lie about my age, I would have been a little more understanding; unfortunately, that was not the case. I currently live in Kentucky, but go to a military school a short distance away from here. I had planned on using this range a lot as soon as I could bring my own weapon down, but now I am rethinking that. Because of the way this gentleman interacted with me, my girlfriend, and our friend, he has lost what could have been a long-standing, loyal customer. If I am wrong, please correct me. I have been an avid shooter since I was around 10 years old, and I have never had an experience like this one at any range before.

It is my true belief that this business of operations is a gem to North Carolina and the local communities in which it serves. Recently I had family in from work and on vacation to celebrate my upcoming wedding. The staff is very welcoming to me and my clients on a regular basis. However, I wanted to make special mention to Paul who made me feel and look good for my family and clients who came in for me that night. My brother in-law who is with the Winston Salem PD and my other Brother who is with SF were able to enjoy the company of the family while being in a safe facility that offered excellent customer service. Paul in trusted me to make sure things were operated properly and has always brought a special element with his interactions with me at ProShots. It is with great confidence that I operate and work with my clients & friends at ProShots and I look forward to working with and hanging out with people like Paul, Ben, Richard, Jeff, Ron, & the rest of the staff who has always been excellent guides with the firearm industry and education for the best interest of the law abiding citizens of our communities. When you walk in, you will hear "you're being recorded " which was awkward. The first time I heard it, I missed what it said. The second time, I heard it clearly and it was a bit surprising. Nonetheless, no one can say they didn't know. Richard was the instructor during the 4hr course on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm. I enjoyed it and it was very informative. Richard gave a comedic twist, which definitely helped make time go by quicker. The best part was the gun rage at the end. It was a large class of 17. The range took a while. I did great for 10 shots total: 5 with a a revolver, which was my first time shooting one. The other 5 from a semi automatic pistol; I own one but haven't even practiced in at least a year and a half. While there, I did browse their available guns. I did end up buying a pack of 9mm bullets for $21. The female staff member who assisted me was very friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. I would definitely return!

C & E Gun Shows

C & E Gun Shows

I attend the C & E Gun Show when it comes to Hickory NC because it's the closest gun show to my…read morehouse, but even then it's a 45 minute drive one way. I've noticed over the past three shows I've attended that prices have risen to the point of being ridiculous. For example, a vendor had a Taurus GX4 XL for $481.50 with tax and that's if you pay cash. Using your credit or debit card will add another 4% to that bringing the total to a little over $500. I went home and bought the exact same GX4 XL online for $305 total including insured 2 day shipping and my FFL holder's transfer fee. That's a huge savings of between $176.50 and $201!! So that tells you how high prices have gotten when you can order on line, pay an additional $45 for shipping and a FFL transfer fee and still save between $176 & $201 over gun show prices. And most vendors are not willing to negotiate prices or if they do, it's only for a very small amount off of their already high prices. I had one vendor only willing to come down $5 off the price of a gun and he acted like doing that was going to bankrupt him! SMFH! Also if you want to sell or trade a gun you get offered an insultingly low price for it. Ammo prices are just as bad. I saw 9mm range ammo in 50 count boxes for as high as $35 a box when my local gun store has boxes of 100 count 9mm range ammo for just shy of $29 with tax. Same for .45 ACP I saw 50 count boxes of range ammo for as high as $45 a box when I can buy 50 count boxes of .45 ACP range ammo for around $25 elsewhere. Prices on .22's are beyond high. I saw 50 count boxes of basic .22 long rifle as high as $10 a box. Really?? $10 a box for .22 long rifle?? I went to Rural King and bought 50 count boxes of .22 hollow points for just $3 per box. I suspect that these much higher prices have something to do with C & E raising the prices of vendor tables from $60 to $75 each. On top of that admission prices have gone up to $12 per person after just going up to $10 per person not that long ago. I'm going to have to reevaluate if driving 1.5 hours round trip and paying a $12 admission fee is worth it to attend a C & E gun show if I know I'm not going to buy anything because prices on both guns and ammo have become so ridiculously high and especially knowing I can buy guns and ammo far cheaper online or in stores locally.
