First time visiting this place. Having played some Big Buck Hunter at the arcade the night before we decided to give real shooting a try the next day. Having not shot a shotgun in many years, it was a fun experience. The staff was incredibly welcoming to a group of newbies. Came out and gave us a quick lesson on safety and how the to load the gun, and shoot. Though quick, they were thorough and willing to answer any questions we had. All in all, this was a really fun experience. They have several practice stations, and then a set up similar to a golf coarse, going around the grounds to different "holes". All in all it was a great time, and lots of fun. They have all the equipment you need to buy/rent and it's always fun to try something new. read more

I've been going to Shane's a few times a month over the last year or so, and find it a great activity for folks of various ages and skill levels. Prior to this, I had shot infrequently and was not skilled in any manner...yet Shane's makes it easy to practice, the facilities are excellent and Shane is very helpful. I began shooting simply as something to do outside and thought it would be fun and have found a wonderful place to learn and grow my confidence. I had never been skeet shooting before, but my brother wanted to take us and we thought we would give it a try. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Shane's was a pretty great first time experience. I was worried we would be out in the sun all day, but each of the practice areas is covered with a reflective roof, which was a huge relief. Everything is pretty organized and clean, and the instructions are easy to follow. The people were very friendly and they had a wide variety of speeds and directions for the disks- I even managed to hit a few of them (my favorites were the ones with trampolines)! As a longtime customer I was very disappointed to find a lot of their clay machines didn't work. (About 5) and their drawings of the clay routes were totally not updated with wrong routes drawn on least half of their stations OR there were NO drawings at all! Will not go back there! Also there was no coffee or hot chocolate! Which just added to the disappointing experience! Waste of hard earned money!! read more

A fantastic place to shoot clay if you're in the area. I stopped in with a friend on a work trip and had a great time. You can bring your own (read the website for rules, etc.), but they have everything you need there, including golf carts if you aren't feeling the walk that day. Family run, and it shows. Go out respectfully and have a great time! It looks like they hold events too, so check the calendar on their website. Definitely will be back again next time I'm in town. read more

I attended an event at Shane Sporting Clays called "Blastin' for Boobs." The event was sponsored by the website SEEK the Triad, and was to raise money for the organization Earlier.org, a group that supports earlier detection on breast cancer. Everyone from Shane's was nice, patient, professional, and fun! There were about 300 ladies shooting, most of which had probably never done so, and the instructors were great. They really took their time with us, and had fun too! The group of friends I was with, #BWT, have already decided we may need to come back sooner than next year too shoot-it is a great strss reliever I can't wait to go to this event again next year! read more

Shot at Shane's a few weeks ago, it was the first time that I've been back since the improvements have been completed. Golf carts a giant plus , especially if you have a bad knee , covered shooting stands !!!!! This in itself is fantastic, rain or blazing sun no worries. Targets are challenging but nothing over the top and they are changing them on a frequent basis. Bottom line is if you want an enjoyable day head over to Shane's place !! read more

I attended a fundraising event (Blastin' for Boobs) at Shane's Sporting Clays this fall. Some 300 women came out (most of whom had never been shooting), donned their earplugs and blasted away. What a great time! Everyone from Shane's staff was super nice, professional, and patient. The event was very well organized, and the large number of shooters were able to progress through the shooting stations at a comfortable pace. We had an instructor assigned to our group, and ours was fantastic. He took his time coaching each of the 8 women in our group and really made our experience a fun one. This was my first venture with sporting clays and it will not be my last! I was also pleased to see what a great group outing this makes. If you can find it, it's a great place to go skeet shooting. It's a bit of a drive out into the woods up a gravel road. After winding your way up the road, you come to what looks like someone's house rather than a business. You follow the driveway down to the left of the house, which winds down to the basement where they have the shop. It's fairly no frills, but the skeet shooting is pretty cool. At the top of the hill, there are 3 practice traps and then a tower. The tower is the Wobbler, which throws clay pigeons out in random directions. The other 3 have fixed throws, so start with those to warm up and work your way to the Wobbler. They also have a shooting course, but I haven't done that yet. 25 Pulls was $13. They do have ammo and rental guns as well as some other items in the shop. read more

Love Shane's. You don't need to be experienced with a shotgun. They'll teach you. However, you might not want to do it during bathing suit or tank top season....shoulder bruises from the kickback lasted a few days for me! read more

Nice course. Close stands, walkable. Only minor issue is closing. When closing time comes, no more shooting. Can't finish your round. I'll go back, I'll get there early. read more
