To me, visiting the McDonough shop is like being a (hungry fat) kid in a candy shop, I always see something new and that I want. Purchased a motorcycle battery 4 months ago. I was experiencing some issues with it. Some hesitation when starting. A Harley dealer determined it was not working properly. The dealer replaced it. Trying to restore a 1970 Challenger, every order except for maybe one has been a fiasco. On one itenm seat vinyl they had a price listed on their website but when I added it to the order the prices was more than double. I ordered quarter panels, and waited almost a month for the shipping date only to have the date moved out 4 months! Wasted all that time and I got nothing for it, NOTHING! I admit this is the online service and I realize that these reviews are for the actual store but they have the online reviews hidden, or at least I could not find any. I am beyond livid here.... So the Boo and I where out looking for me a car in Henry County when he decided he wanted to take me to an auto part store. We ended up 30 minutes away from Fayette County in Henry County. As we pulled into the parking lot I thought Damn! This is like the Brands Mart or Walmart of Auto Zones. :) We enter and were greeted promptly. There are two antique cars at either side of the entrance. They look GREAT!!!! We start to walk around and the Boo was acting like a kid in a candy store! I thought he got a little too excited when we are in Home Depot, but it seems that this place is his true love! He actually left me a few times as he focused his attention on car part and not me. So y'all know that didn't go over well. LOL! This place really is like a toy store for car lovers. They had BBQ Grills made like car engines, the world's Largest Chair for $144, Rims, real Engines, Car Seats that you can actually sit in and see if you like them, Alternators, Paint, Brake Light thingy's, Hats, Shirts and Tags for your car or house with car crap on it. :) If you LOVE Cars and have a few hundred dollars to waste, I mean spend on your Vrooom, Vroooooom then you may want to check this place out. I had an absolutely horrible experience at Summit Racing. I take the long trip down to McDonough because Summit is one of the two or three places listed as being a distributor of Adam's Car Care products. And I love Adam's stuff. So first off - the selection: I had a fairly extensive list of stuff I needed to get and while I didn't expect Summit to have _everything_ on the shelves, what they had was clearly "old". The products went ran the gamut from having faded and peeling labels to having been chemically disassociated to being plain damaged. I looked around the rest of the store and ... damn, it was sad. Here's what I surmise - Summit Racing makes their money off of catalog and internet sales. This location in McDonough must be one of their main distribution points. The physical store location seems to only exist for "fans of the brand". I had gone in expecting to be at the "AutoZone to beat all other AutoZone" type stores. Ya know, have EVERYTHING I would ever want in a car supply place. Instead I find a show room full of kitschy and crappy toys and posters and just plain junk. They're clearly setup for the interstate traffic / tourist crowd. But I don't want to waste a trip - so I find a couple of things I could use in my garage and head up to the register to check out. The cashier-lady totals everything up, I hand her my card and she says "Please tell me your name, address, email address and phone number." Used to getting the phone number requests at Pottery Barn-like stores I give the practiced half-smile and politely say "no, but thank you". The conversation then follows: Lady: "Have you purchased here before or online?" Me: "Umm, no?" Lady: "Then I need that information before I can check you out." Me: "Umm, seriously? I just want to pay for the items." Lady: "Unless you're paying cash I need your name, email, address and phone number. The system won't let me run a credit card without it." Me: "Really? Seriously?" Lady: "Really." Me: "Okay. Bye." ... and I walked away. Again, the only thing I can think of is that they tied the whole "store" into their online processing system which _does_ require all that info and instead of having a "real" POS system she's just logging into a website and processing the payment through it. I .. just ... truly stupid. Truly TRULY stupid and such a huge waste of time. read more

So until further notice I am giving it 1 star. I called today to make sure they were open and they told me on the phone oh sure were open. I drive all the way out there and ok yes they were open but only for online order pickups. They didn't tell me that on the phone. I was needing to talk to someone about some special parts for my dads 66 pick up and all the girl in the parking lot would say was you can only pick up online orders. I asked her well is there someone that can help me figure out what parts I need. I am trying to do a pcv conversion for my dads truck. She was very rude and just kept saying nope only pick ups. Wouldn't even try to help. Just a huge waste of my time today. All they had to say on the phone was we are open but only for online orders. I don't know why so many people have had a problem with this store or the company as a whole. I build and restore cars from the 30's all the way to current and have never had an order wrong or met anyone in the store that was not on their A-Game when it came to finding parts for me. Always get what I ordered and usually pretty fast. The only drawback I have hit is ordering parts through summit from pro-car. The wait to get it from summit was a little longer than going direct because it was not made clear that the brackets for the racing seats were a separate part specific to the car, but that was also my mistake for not checking for myself. The Mcdonough store and its employees are great and customer service through their call center has always been very helpful. read more

I paid for over night delivery and now FED EX wont even let me pick up the package from their hub. I have lost money and had i know they use FED EX i would have never bought from them anyway. I asked for a $22 refund and they guy from customer service said "no, is there anything i can help you with" and then disconnected. so i told them to cancel the order and since the package has not been delivered they can reroute it back to them for delivery. They said no that it would get delivered to me first then i could pay to have it sent back. NEVER WILL ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN. I ordered 2-holed exhaust flanges from them through their website... What I received were 2-holed GASKETS. To verify I hadn't made a mistake, I looked up the part number for what I ordered and it indeed still showed the 2-holed steel exhaust flanges. I emailed them to say I received the wrong item. The response was surprisingly swift. "No, you got what you ordered." I replied with I'm looking right at it, it LOOKS to be a steel flange and the item description SAYS that it is a steel flange, and NO, I did not get a steel flange, I got gaskets for that same steel flange. I heard a lot of keyboard noise, the man then confirmed his previous statement. Having a WTF moment, I clicked the refresh button of the image of the purchased steel 2-holed flanges, and the image magically changed to the gaskets I had wrongfully received. Same part number. Then his email replies went silent. So basically, they had advertised a product with wrong image and description. When I discovered their error, called em out on it, they changed everything to cover their mistake. Then when I wrote to complain to their customer service...THEY BANNED ME FROM EVER BUYING FROM THEM AGAIN. NO PROBLEM!!! You're not the only hotrod store. You're not the cheapest. YOU ARE SURELY THE WORST. All this over $12, glad it was not regarding moee. Their true colors are evident to me, that Life is 10% circumstances and 90% how you react to those circumstances.... ....Summit Racing is a cheat. read more

WOW, this place is BIG!!! More racing parts than you can shake a stick at and all at a great price. The turn around time from when you walk in the door, order what you need, pay for it and then wait while the parts are pulled form the warehouse is very short time. I have been here a few times and could spend hours talking with the staff as all of them are car guys an gals. All kind of the latest up to date parts are out on display for to check out. Just a really great place to pick up high performance parts for your vehicle. Just wish they had a store closer to me than 200 miles I have to drive to get there. At first I was hesitant about a catalogue store of the likes of old school Sears, but I ordered parts from them with free shipping, then I made the drive. Holy crap the place is amazing. I've never been to a retail store where I've had such a high level of service. Staff asked me what I needed then made sure I was buying the right stuff for the job. From something as low-key as brake pads or safety equipment for my car they have looked out for me. I in the past have ordered the wrong parts and they gave me a no questions asked refund, and went out of their way to help me find what I needed. When ever I can I will order from these guys or go to their store because I have never had better service I'm my life. If you live in the state of georgia and like nice cars and car parts you're messing up by not visiting their store, because you can be hands on with almost everything they sell, and they will help you put eith what you need. Ordered a bumper in May. They have changed delivery dates twice since then. I actually called last week June 18th, and talked to customer service because I got an email with a July ship date. He said he saw my part already loaded onto a truck heading for Ga due to arrive in 2 days. He even called the shipping place and he verified it had been loaded already and should be at store in a few days, coming from South Carolina( literally 3-4 hours away). Waited till Tuesday to call to give extra time due to COVID-19. Now they are saying that it won't be delivered until July 15. Now are saying both of them were sent to Texas instead of one there and one to me. Pure BS!!!! What did it magically get unloaded from the already fully loaded truck and then reloaded and sent to another store!!! Very disappointed and dissatisfied. After ordering over a $1000 worth of parts within 3 days, and once the parts came in would not fir the car as described I tried to get a return label from Summit themselves, today which didn't happen after I explained that the parts are in a different city. Was explained by customer I would be provided a link which never come in. Was trying to get past all of this and purchase a hood which was $550 and was explained that the shipping would not be free after seeing free shipping for purchases over $99 on the website. We shop here a lot and attend the summer cruise ins. While I will admit, one of the sales associates sold us the wrong brake pads a while back, the manager happened to be at the desk when we went by to talk to them about it and they were very nice and let us return them for the right ones. All other purchases have not had a problem. I'd say they are like any other parts store - some of the guys know their stuff, and some just look it up and hope it's right (hey - we all have to learn at some point!). YEAHHHHHH!!! Summit pulls through again. After four days in Barstow, CA waiting for the wheels for a 1967 Chevy Fleetside Shortbed build given to my brother by my father (original owner) the build can continue to completion. The truck is sitting in Lake Arrowhead and the shipping to his addrtess was going to take until 25 Oct., we decided to rent a Chevy Tahoe and visit relatives in Barstow to pickup and expedite. The ship date was Saturday. It is now Tuesday, but mission accomplished after UPS and Fedex Showed up within minutes of each other around 11:30 AM. By the way, Fedex was first and UPS came in a close second..... Thanks to the team at Summit Racing Verifiaction area for getting the order on its way even though we are traveling from Guam for this build. Now off to my nephews brother in law's shop in Barstow (Main St. Auto and Fleet--Jaimie) for mounting and then back to Arrowhead for real mounting on the truck. Main St. is 5-star all the way and even offered to open on a day off (Saturday) if the wheels had arrived. I am just so happy that it all came together in the end.... I will keep you posted. Summit is like a gear head's candy store. The place is absolutely huge and carries anything and everything car-related, from parts of all sorts (chassis, suspension, exhausts, brakes, etc) to paint, detailing goodies, themed collectables, apparel, signs, and more. There are vending machines and racing arcade games by the restrooms. Their system is.. unique. You stand in line at Sales and Information until someone takes your order. Along with your order, s/he inputs your personal data into the computer and the information is sent to the back for someone to pull the items from stock. You then have to go over to the Order / Pick Up area, where you may have to wait (depending on how busy they are). You can have a seat on one of their two benches and check out your status on the monitor they have mounted by the pick up area. Eventually, someone will pop through the warehouse doors and call your name. From there, they will cut open the box and allow you to examine everything. If you're satisfied, you walk over to the cashiers (without your merchandise) and pay. Upon payment, you'll get your receipt and you'll have to walk back over to the Order / Pick Up area to pick up your goods. Lastly, they will check your bags against your receipt to make sure everything's compliant. There's a lot of eye candy in the store, and no, it's probably not what you're thinking. There are two cars on a rotating display at the front of the store, empty Nascar shells in the back, and built motors along the sides. Unfortunately, there aren't many items available for Imports, as they are mostly geared towards American muscle cars. However, the store is pretty cool and worth the trip out to McDonough. read more

I ordered a set of Mickey Thompson's for my Vette. The front/back are staggered sizes only the back set were available. I placed the order on June 1st and was told the front set weren't available but would be June 13th, I received an email June 13th the tires would be available July 9th. I received a call July 5th asking if I still wanted the tires?!! Huh?! I'm totally confused because the full set was paid for June 1st and had no clue the back ordered tires were in stock. The young lady "Diamond" proceeds to inform me that the tires needed to be picked up by July 7th or they would be sent back to the warehouse. Ma'am I wasn't aware the tires were in; scratch all this miscommunication I'll be there today to get my tires. I get there and the young lady called my name...the front tires were loaded on a dolly ready to be carried out. The young lady proceeded to tell me give her a few minutes she need to grab the back set!!! What?!! Luckily I'm honest and told the young lady I already have the back set ma'am. She slowly walk out with the baby steps as if she didn't want to work. Once we got to my truck she stood there as if "I" was going to load these tires in the back of my truck!?! Lady I'm 5'1 with long nails. I paid you or someone to load these tires. I nicely explained to her I'm not loading these tires are you serious right now. She just stood there and looked at me as she didn't comprehend. I told her to get a man bc I obviously wasn't doing her job. Not today, tomorrow or next week. You can llok at pictures all day long because thats all you will have to look at. They are TOO BIG to provide any type of worthwhile customer service.
