i have been going to this salvage yard since 1997 when i bought trans am parts and i have never had…read more1 issue till the other day. kurt accused me of stealing a lawn mower carb the last time i was there by someone who supposedly seen me , no explanation at all to whom said this , he did not ask me about it, just told me i did it and the funny part about this is i had not been there in about 5 months and the last time i went there was to get a glove box door for my mothers truck and i was not even near a lawn mower there. i did go and get lawn mower parts sometimes in the summer there but i have never stolen anything ,i have known hal the owner for all these years and i would not do that and i hope he sees this review . i do take parts and hide them in a metal building right there beside where the mowers are sometimes , but i do not take them, i put them there because the crush the mowers with a tractor to move them so i keep them in there in case i needed them before they were destroyed by them. the crazy part is i was never asked about it ,i was just told by him ... you could not find a good carb for a mower out there with all that old stuff out there and a new one on amazon is $20 , so what would be the point . im really pissed over this because after all these years there was just no respect given to me at all that day and i have spent thousands of dollars at that place over the years . so kunt this review is for you and only you and you will not have to worry about me going there again just like i told you that day and i hope hal gets to see this because this is his business and he should know how you treat long time customers

This is, without question, the worst salvage yard we have ever dealt with…read more A customer needed a new engine. They located one from Bob's and we went to inspect it. The engine appeared to be in okay physical condition, still in the vehicle. After speaking with the staff about their warranty process, we were left uneasy. They said if we knew what we were doing, then we wouldn't have to warranty it. The customer desperately needed the engine, so they purchased it for $500 plus tax and a $50 refundable core charge. The yard did not provide us extensive warranty information until after the engine was purchased. They only accept cash as payment, so there is no possible recourse for denied warranty outside of small claims court. When they do accept a warranty, they reserve the right to apply a discretionary 50% restock fee. Here is the complete warranty information provided on the invoice: "30 day warranty on this engine. Must be installed within 48 hours. Not responsible for customer error or abuse. Must have new: oil, filter, gaskets, water pump, oil pump, seals, timing belt or chain, gears, and tensioner, spark plugs, wires, belts, hoses, radiator, and antifreeze. Change induction as necessary. Aftermarket or racing parts are not to be added. All receipts for above parts must be shown or warranty is void. Pulling engine prior to contacting us will void warranty. Contact us with tags and receipt of part. $20 fee will apply if core is not drained before being returned." Some of these requirements are reasonable, but others are not. We were unable to install this engine for the customer within 48 hours due to scheduling. 48 hours is also not enough time for the necessary replacement warranty parts to arrive in the mail, especially when that information was not wholly communicated by Bob's to us prior to purchasing. Once the engine was picked up and brought to our shop, the timing cover, valve cover, and A/C mounting bracket were newly damaged or broken, evidently during the removal process, parts which we then had to replace or swap. We fully serviced the engine prior to install. Outside of the long block internals, we replaced or swapped almost every part on the engine with brand new parts or known working parts. Once installed, the engine started right up and ran great. But, after several days, the customer noticed their coolant level was decreasing with no physical leaks. There were signs of air escaping into the cooling system, possibly indicating a blown head gasket or other internal leak. The customer has been routinely adding coolant to keep the vehicle driving and prevent overheating. We do not claim that Bob's knowingly sold the customer a defective engine, but their rude staff, careless removal process, unprotected purchases, and overbearing warranty demands leave much lacking from our viewpoint. We also did not bother contacting Bob's about warranty after the problem became apparent, because the customer could not afford to replace the engine again, needed the vehicle for work, and because of the warranty requirements which could be voided at the yards own discretion. We have advised our customer to run the engine as long as it lasts, and to be on the lookout for a spare replacement. We should have paid more attention to similar reviews from other Bob's customers. Their business review responses speak for themselves. We will never advise another customer to purchase parts from here.
