I have seen Dr Sasaura previously and he was great! However, because of the wait time to set an appointment with him, I saw Dr. Seer (or Spear). Completely cocky and condescending. Didn't seem too concerned with the pain I'm having. When trying to discuss recovery time from surgery .. I brought up a previous surgery and he laughingly talked about farm animals who have that same surgery and are sent to pasture right away. I would rather endure the knee pain and wait 3 months to see Dr S than put up with his horrible bedside manor! read more

I specifically made my appointment with Dr. Greene and waited longer to get in just to see him. When I arrived at the office, they told me I'd be seeing a new doctor. The new doctor didn't listen to what my injury history was and just looked at my 'inconclusive MRI', gave me a quick diagnosis, gave me a cortisone shot, and sent me on my way. I wish I had the opportunity to see Dr. Greene since I've heard he is great. I moved and got a second option in my new city and it was different than what the doctor at Summit said. The diagnosis also makes sense. I am in PT now and hope to be pain free soon. I believe the diagnosis I got at Summit was incorrect. The staff shouldn't change doctors on a patient without calling them first. My first impression of this place wasn't a pleasant one. Update: 1/14/2016 As a final resort to resolve my hip pain, I decided to go to a myfacial release specialist. Within 8 visits (covered by my insurance under chiropractic care), my hip magically released. Continued for another 4-5 visits and gradually my hip loosened up more and more. This was in May 2015. It is now January 2016 and I have no hip discomfort AND I avoided surgery that was actually recommended at two ortho practices (in Sacramento and Austin, TX). Surgery isn't always the best option. Not impressed. Good technicians horrible customer relations. The management and doctors relate to patients as though they are a burden. Management is loath to communicate in a timely fashion. The surgeon that performed my sugery had the temerity to state he was doing the surgery on" my lunch hour". The surgery repairing a broken clavicle cost 44K. Patients see the doctor only once, the rest of the visits are with a PA. I recommend you look further for a doctor that actually cares about your well being as opposed to his financial well being read more

I asked my primary doctor for a referral to see Dr Camento as my wife had work on her left knee done by this Doctor and is happy with the results. I have tried half a dozen times in a four day period to contact the office, several times on hold for over 10 minutes and when I was able to leave a messages I did not receive a call back. Several days passed and I called on a Thursday and to my surprise I was able to talk with someone. I asked if they received my referral and she said "YES we have it and will call either this Friday, or the following Monday to schedule an appointment". I did not get a call. Tuesday I call several times and finally get through and find out from them they now do not have my referral. I taped out!! I called my primary Doctor and asked him for another referral for a different Doctor. read more

They never receive faxes for referrals and if they do actually get it they take 1-2 months to review it. I feel sorry for the providers that work there, they are awesome its the staff and management that is horrible. They leave you on hold for 5-10 minutes and everyone is ALWAYS in a meeting when you need to speak with management. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! STAY AWAY ! Two appointments scheduled explicitly with the ortho surgeon, as my husband needs TWO knee replacements. Both appointments, he was passed off to the PA, and NEVER saw the surgeon ! When we asked where the Dr. was, the PA said, he and the doctor were sharing patients today. No **** way will we schedule a major surgery without first consulting with a licensed physician who will actually perform the surgery. At the end, my husband needed a cortisone shot for the pain and the PA had to have us come back, probably because he was not experienced enough to administer. All of this and the added benefit of 1 1/2 hour wait AFTER the scheduled appointment just to see the PA. VERY VERY BAD. read more

My Husband had surgery, yesterday, to re-attach his hamstring by Dr. Greene. Our original appointment to see a surgeon was set for Monday, August 8th. The ladies had encouraged me to call twice a day and see if there are any cancellations; this I did for 10 days straight and the ladies showed me kindness and compassion. We were able to see Dr. Hansen on August 5th and she started the wheel moving forward with surgery to happen on the 8th. We were very impressed with all the paper work and pre-op stuff that was able to get accomplished in 1 1/5 business days. This surgery is rare and we were very impressed with Dr. Greene accomplishing this and the care and compassion everyone has shown us. It hasn't even been 24 hours but we are completely satisfied at this point. read more

I was referred here for a consult after already knowing what the problem was with my shoulder. After waiting 3 months to get the referral and schedule an appointment, I drove 1 1/2 hrs very excited to finally take the next step to have use of my arm again. I arrived extra early to make sure I could fill out paperwork and whatever else they needed. The front staff was not very engaging but it was early. After being taken to the room 20 minutes later ( which is great for any doctors office), I was told " I will let the doctor know you are ready and he will be in shortly". Another 15-20 mins later a second person comes in and says the doctor is still in surgery and I can reschedule my appointment or wait. Since I had already made arrangements with work for this and the long drive, I said I was willing to wait but had to leave by 10:30 to get to work on time. I was assured that I was the first patient as soon as the doctor came back. Just before 10 I heard the doctor and everyone talking to him in the hall. He then went into another room with a patient. I figured maybe that one is quick so I'll be patient. 15 min later I heard the doctor and another person state " since that's a workmans Comp, she can wait" and proceeds to another room. At 10:30 (2 hours later) I open the door and see the doctor talking with a sales rep. I walked to the front and stated I had to leave. The front person said I will see how much longer, I stated I had to leave to get to work. She said I can get you in tomorrow, I stated again the next day would not work with my work schedule and if there was anything in my days off. She stated no and the next available was in 3 weeks at a time I already told her would not work. I admit I got rude but at this point I felt they didn't care. I left crying, frustrated and now have to find another orthopedic because of the impression they left. I have never been treated so "dismissed" by a medical facility. read more

The girl at the front desk had my info in the computer before I could finish the paper work; MA was awesome, guy who came in to fit me with the air cast, even checking out... Dr Robert Cameto replaced both of my husband's knees. He was basically sedentary prior to the surgeries and in a lot of pain. He now is doing great! Then we found out that he needed a shoulder replacement. Dr Cameto recommended Dr. Paul Sasaura in the practice. Dr Sasaura did a wonderful job. The doctors not only do a great job but they and the entire staff was absolutely wonderful not only to my husband but to me too, the spouse. They also recommended great physical therapy. Another doctor in the practice saved our friend after a horrific motorcycle accident. I started having trouble with my shoulder only to find that the muscle on the rotator cuff was causing lots of pain. They sent me to therapy and followed me through therapy. Great place to go! We would recommend them to everyone and have given there names and phone number to many. Sorry we don't live in CA anymore otherwise we would be there for the follow-ups. We will miss them and hope we can find someone as good in our new home state. read more

This place is horrible !!!! Stay far away from them. I went to them for an upper arm injury. Dr. Cameto did a quick exam, then tells me to take Advil or other OTC pain relievers even though the chart clearly stated that I can't take the meds and I told him during the 2 minute exam. On his way out the door as an after thought Dr. Cameto recommends a gel- as he put it "No need to get an ulcer taking the medication". He then writes a prescription but doesn't bother to call it in or put a dosage. He seemed disinterested and just wanted to get in and out of the room as quickly as possible. At my last appointment, the P/A did a 3 minute exam, then tells me to continue to go to physical therapy until the physical therapist tells me not to go any more. That doesn't makes sense. You need a doctors written prescription to go to physical therapy. Before I had the steroid injections, the billing department insisted that I pay the 1/2 of the cost before I schedule the injections. I paid it then found out they weren't supposed to make me pay for that and it is in breach of contract with my medical insurance. There was a brief period when I had just signed up for my medical insurance and the medical insurance did not receive the paperwork yet. Summit demanded that I pay for the steroid injection entirely. I paid this then sought reimbursement from my medical insurance. In the meantime, Summit sent a bill to my medical insurance for the steroid injection. When I called them and asked about it, they denied that they sent a bill in even though my insurance company clearly showed that they received the bill and the bill was then paid. The only thing that Summit cares about is money. They haven't bothered to call my insurance company back either. I am amazed that this place hasn't been sued yet. Oh and call them to schedule and appointment ? Yeah good luck. I hope you like being put on hold for 30 minutes. Bring a good book to read when you do go for treatment. I was kept waiting for one hour for one of my appointments and 30 minutes on my last one. read more

Dealing with this outfit is difficult and unpleasant. Got a joint injected which was painful (they always are). That was not the issue. The joint swelled up that afternoon and was quite painful. I called the office repeatedly but could only get as far as the front desk. Did I get a call back from the doctor, or anyone else in the office after I told them there was a problem with the procedure. Not a chance. They called me halfway through the next day and told me there was nothing more they could do. While the doctor seemed competent enough (though he didn't seem like he was old enough to actually be a doctor) there was zero follow through. Avoid at all costs. read more

They are outstanding. Surgeons, PA's, support staff are amazing. My husband and I have been patients for several years for joint replacement surgery, and shoulder issues. We understand we can't just show up and expect them to schedule surgery, inject cortisone, etc. or do any procedure without complete medical history, authorization from the agency who will pay for the care and coordinating the availability of the surgical area with the hospital. If you're looking for the best orthopedic care in the area, that's Summit. They're busy because they're good. Dr Fujii is the best! A sports medicine doctor, who studied in Philadelphia hospitals, the area I moved from 7 years ago. Sports medicine docs are interested in getting us up off the couch and back in the business of life, walking and getting out and about. And they are usually the ones with all the latest knowledge and techniques to make sure this happens. I've known Dr. Fujii since Sept 2015 when I broke my ankle very badly. Dr Fujii did the repairs necessary. He is very good at his craft, is personable and very helpful.. Today I met with Dennis his P-A, saw new x-rays of ankle and I am on target to continue with PT as I am doing. I have noticed a great improvement! This is a good office, all the folks I've met have been friendly and helpful AND they remember me when I come in, asking, "how have you been since your surgery?" read more

Dr. Sehr and the staff are very, very good. The entire experience from making the first appointment, the reception staff, the medical and x-ray staff, and Dr. Sehr made a very unpleasant broken bone experience into a reassuring and healing situation. There is a level of customer service and personal attention that we received at Summit Orthopedic Specialists that was professional and reassuring. An unplanned and painful event occurred between visits, called the office: was seen that day. I am not kidding, they listened to my concerns, consulted the doctor, was in the office in four hours. Dr, Sehr has a very calm and professional approach to patient care. He takes the time to listen to your concerns, comment, make suggestions, and when you leave, all of your questions and concerns have been addressed. What a good doctor. The medical profession as a whole sometimes lacks customer service and customer care. That is NOT what we encountered here. We found friendly, professional customer service with the entire staff. Dear Summit Orthopedics, I last came to your office on November 26th, the day before Thanksgiving. I had been told on my previous visit that I would receive a cortisone shot in my shoulder on November 26. However, when I arrived on November 26, I was told then that I would not receive my cortisone shot that day, because you had to get authorization for it first from my insurance company. I found this strange, at that time, since I have never been told this before by anyone at your office. I was told by the attending physician on November 26, that your office WAS contracted with River City Medical Group Insurance through December 31, 2014 and that your office WOULD get the authorization for my cortisone shot in about a week and that you would call me back then to schedule my cortisone shot. Well, I was never called back by your office regarding said cortisone shot. So, I called your office this week, and I was told that you are no longer accepting River City Medical Group Insurance as of last Thursday December 18th. So, apparently I was lied to by the office on November 26, when I was told by the attending physician that I WOULD be called back in within about a week regarding my next appointment to get a cortisone shot at your office. Now, I'm going to have to start all over again, and because of the holidays, I am going to have to wait about 2 months for a cortisone--because the people in your office lied to me on November 26th. Of course, this is unacceptable. I need a cortisone shot now. I believe that you are still currently contracted with River City Medical Group Insurance, but that you just refuse to accept it. I.e., you CAN accept it, if you want to. You just don't want to. Well, that is totally unacceptable. I want to know what your office is going to do to remedy this situation, so that I do not have to file a formal complaint with the Medical Board of California and the Better Business Bureau. What I suggest is to have me come in this next week, the week of December 29, 2014, have one of the M.D.s administer my cortisone shot, and then bill River City Medical Group Insurance--just like you promised me you were going to do on November 26, 2014. ZERO STARS!!!!!!!!! worst experience ever!!!! This place seemed like it was too good to be true and I was right, my husband injured his bicep and was in excruciating pain, after going from ER to doctor to ER again then them just telling him he'll have to see a orthopedic specialist but it would be 2 weeks befor he could see one, I decided to google orthopedic urgent care and unfortunately came across Summit Orthopedic Specialist in Carmichael Ca. We got there it was 6pm the waiting room was empty so they got him back very quick and the front office staff was very very friendly and seemed concerned with the level of pain my husband was in, he's not a cryer he has a very high pain tolerance so for him to be crying was huge and ment he was in a lot of pain. The "doctor" came into the room asked what happened, when my husband tried his best to explain the pain and how it all started his arm started spasing up and pain was shooting through it ,he began crying out loud and cursing at the pain. The "dr" seemed very uninterested with trying to understand the pain level and treated him like he was there to get a narcotic fix even after my husband explained that he didn't want drugs and that he was allergic to opioids. My husband turned to me with tears in his eyes saying 'see there just going to treat me the same' and began to cry out loud in pain, upon that the "doctor" said "you need to calm down" and then got up grabbed the chart and said "I can't treat you like this goodbye".... And walked out leaving my husband crying in pain and did absolutely NOTHING. So DR Michael S. I rarely write reviews, but this place just left me with such a bad taste... From the first minute to the last, not a good appointment. I came there with my own disc of scans for a shattered heel, was interviewing surgeons. I was led back by a girl who saw it a major inconvenience to put back the chair I was suspending my damaged foot on. I was only seen by a P.A., not by a surgeon, who brilliantly diagnosed me the same as the last guy. $469 for about 20 minutes. Never saw a surgeon. This is place business office is the worse and most unorganized medical facility out there. While the specialist are on top of things but the business is not. Waiting to get a medical in office cortisone or supartz injections takes them 8-10 weeks to process and when they finally get their rear-end moving, it take them another 4-6 weeks to get you on the schedule to have the process done. Then when the doctor tells you that he wants to back in every week for the next couple of weeks to continue with your injections, they can't even schedule those according to the doctor's order that is written on your release papers after the visit. POOR BUSINESS DECISIONS ARE NEGATIVELY IMPACTING PATIENT'S FINANCES, MORALE, AND FAMILIES. My recent circumstances have lead me to become a returning patient with these guys. I have exosted resources due to my situation and am currently stuck with this orthopedic. The front desk staff are HIGHLY undertrained and consistently show their inexperience by the ineffective solutions they produce. I have NO idea where or if there is any type of business structure within this orthopedic. I have to stare at the definition of "summit" for over two hours due to poor time managment and training by a "professional business." Reader, you have to understand I only have so much time and space to explain to you the negative impact this place produces due to poor training and time management, especially toward the working middle class patient. I have several situations that I can produce to support what iam expressing but just know that I have years of business experience to identify when a company or business is making really bad decisions and those bad decision are negatively affecting patients. I have expressed this more than once and was met with little motivation to admit or correct any dilinquencies. I do not expect any response or action of change from this feedback either. I hate posting negative reviews but this is deserved. Waited for over a month and a half to get an appt. regarding a previously broken ankle I'm having a hard time walking on. Got to the office and was told they couldn't use the X-ray I had done at my general practitioner. I was told me it could be used when I made the appt. Their X-ray machine was down so they sent me to another building where I was told the wait was 3 hours. I went back to Summit and asked if there was any way to try using the X-rays I paid $100 for. The incredibly rude woman at the front desk told me to sit down and wait. I saw the PA who used the X-ray I brought. She said I was out of luck and there was not much they could do because all the cartilage had worn down. She said they would try a cortisone shot but I'd have to reschedule. On checking out, the super rude woman at the front told me they had to contact my insurance to get it approved and I'd be called at a later date. I was so upset and frustrated, I actually cried on the way home (that takes a lot!). It has been 3 months. Never got a call back, but I sure got that $469 bill in the mail. STAY AWAY!! read more

If you have any orthopedic issues, I highly recommend you see Dr. Paul Sasaura or Dr. Hunter Greene. My husband works closely with each of them DURING surgeries and he sees what goes on in the OR. Could their staff be better? They could. But what counts is what happens in surgery, where it counts. All of these reviews are from the experience people have with the office staff, which is truly unfortunate. What matters for your future well-being, smooth surgery and recovery are the doctors and their skill and experience. Both of my kids have been seen by them. My husband is a doctor and could choose anyone, and he has a plate and screws performed by Dr. Sasaura. My 75 year old father in law had both his knees replaced and will be playing tennis and skiing again soon. Our good friend and wakeboard enthusiast had a bicep surgery by Dr. Greene. We refer everyone we know to this office. If you can look past some of the short-comings of the office (which you deal with for a short time), and the artistry of the doctors (which you live with forever), you will find a more significant perspective. read more

Zero stars, I would never recommend this practice, but Yelp makes reviewers put at least one, so there it is, but it shouldn't be! I showed up 40 minutes early for my 9:30am appointment, and still waited another 90 minutes past my appointment time to see my doctor. (checked in at 8:50, and didn't get into an exam room until 11:10) The reception staff were friendly enough, until I asked what the hold up was regarding my appointment. The waiting room was cramped and crowded, with people standing in line for 20 minutes and longer, just to register. I don't know what has happened since the last reviews, or maybe I caught them on a bad morning, but this was the worst experience I've had at a Dr. office in a long time. (I usually see Sutter Drs, these guys are Mercy, didn't think that would make a difference, but in 15 years I've never waited more than 15 minutes to see my Sutter Docs) As if the cramped waiting room weren't uncomfortable enough, the only visual distraction, besides the other patients, was a flat-screen tv that constantly played ads for Summit Orthopedics. Once taken to the freezing cold exam room, I waited another 20 minutes for the doctor, tho I was told I was only his 3rd patient of the day. Nobody ever apologized for making me wait so long, I was alternately ignored, and talked down to by the med staff. When I spoke to the Dr., he was less than helpful, didn't explain any of my test results to me, nor how he came to his conclusions, and seemed irritated when I asked questions. This practice to be one in which the patients are so much profitable cattle. I'd certainly never let them do surgery on me. If I never see that office again, I'll be happy enough. They recommended more work there, but I will getting a 2nd opinion somewhere else, and will never patronize that practice again... read more

There are two parts to this review. My previous experience with the medical staff was positive. I have received, at different times, cortisone shots and Supartz(?) injections. All staff involved were pleasant and professional. Friends and acquaintances who have had medical treatment, including knee replacements, have been equally pleased. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the administrative side. Last year, it took 31 days (from referral) to the next available office visit. That was accomplished only after spending considerable time listening to outdated (and very garbled) information on the Summit phone wheel before speaking to a representative. Currently, as of 7/5/17--33 days after my original visitI--I have been AUTHORIZED to get cortisone injections for knees the Summit doctors say should be replaced. The other participant in this nonsense is Nivano Physicians who are, somehow "a month behind on their authorizations," as if that's any comfort to me. Nivano, however, today informed me that my authorization was completed on 6/14 ! (Previously, contacting Nivano has been a complete waste of time since everybody seems to be away from their desks or "helping someone else" every time I call. Calling Authorizations is a special treat reserved for those who would do do just as well banging themselves in the head with their phone. And, according to the rep I talked with today, I've been calling the wrong number, supplied, of course, by the recording from the GV office) It is especially galling that Summit customer reps believe the problems of too few clerks trump the needs of patients who can receive relief from a 15 minute office procedure but who must continue to suffer because of business and administrative incompetence. But I learn something new every Previously, I learned it took Summit 12 days to submit a request for authorization to Nivano because all requests must be properly "coded." Other than my knees, and given the importance of coding in modern medicine and pain relief, who can object to that? And 7/5/17, I also learned that, yes, I have been authorized but will have to wait another 16 days for an appointment, meaning I will get the hoped for relief 49 days after my June 2 visit. BTW, I had to go to the office and make the appointment myself. Final 2017 Update: Finally, 41 days after setting the process in motion, I received injections in both knees. 41 days waiting for a procedure that took about 15 minutes from start to finish. I have filed complaints with United Health Care and will follow up with complaints to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid and the California Patient Advocate and whoever else may be of assistance. There's something seriously wrong with a system that can't deliver cortisone shots in less than six weeks and with a medical group that can't call a patient in a timely manner to schedule a simple procedure. To the naysayers who warn there'll be long wait times for Single Payer implementation, I can truthfully say , "Really, what's new?" Everybody was nice and the office ran smoothly. I never waited long for my appointment. They are a well oiled machine.

I brought my 9-year-old son to Summit for a same-day appointment because he had been having knee pain off and on for a couple of weeks. Everyone from the front desk staff to the X-ray technician to Dr. Greene was friendly and polite. Our wait was very short before being escorted into the exam room. Although X-rays results showed no serious problem (just growth-related pain), Dr. Greene took the time to explain what he found, give us stretching and pain relief suggestions and answer our questions.
