I recently had a total knee replacement performed at {Sierra Nevada Hospital} by one of the surgeons from Summit. Initially I was impressed with his self assurance and professional attitude. I had been much less impressed by the condescending way that I was treated by the office staff. But after meeting the surgeon and having most all of my questions and fears addressed, I felt good about the procedure, and the surgeon. On the way out I was asked to sign an ABN form stating that I would be responsible for the $500 charge for computer assisted navigation, which was necessary for this type of joint replacement. I was told that some insurance companies would not pay for this. I went home and called Medicare and my secondary insurance, and was told by both that it was covered. 6 months later I am being billed $500 because Medicare said that the doctor has not shown the medical necessity for this procedure. On top of all of this, I am now stuck with a knee that is always partially swollen, always painful, and twice the size of my other knee. In addition, My leg is now 3/4 of an inch longer. I should have listened to the little voice in my head when the surgeon stated that, " I can do 5 or 6 of these knee replacements in 1 day ". I will not return, and urge anyone needing a knee replacement, to avoid this place ! In my opinion this is nothing more than a joint replacement, and billing mill. read more

Not sure what these negative reviews are about. ..just went here today. ..by referral from my primary care doc. ....I feel completely opposite. I don't think I have seen a doctors office so professionally run. It is immaculate, clean and roomy. Starting with the front staff, Marie was pleasant and friendly. I was called in before I finished my initial paperwork. The attending health workers did what they should with what seemed to be good knowledge and seemed to listen to what I had to say (that is rare from other health visits). If I end up needing surgery, I will follow up. ..but everything else is above average. ..the staff, the facility and hopefully the outcome. read more

If I could rate this medical facility lower I would. Doctors at this facility seem to be leaving the practice constantly and medical support staff is incompetent and extremely rude. I was told that I had a torn meniscus when having a leg injury inspected by one of their doctors however, every second opinion after has indicated to me that no such torn can be seen. If you are looking for a friendly medical facility which is prompt and accurate on their treatments then Summit Orthopedic may not be the place to go. read more

I've heard great reviews of the doctors here. My experience was different than most, apparently. The front office staff have always been polite and efficient. The total knee replacement was awful. I woke to full on pain at a level of 10-the pain meds from surgery were gone...and the meds the doc had me take simply made me ill, so the pain was overbearing. I did all the exercises and have total range of motion; however, the spacer put in was too narrow so my knee actually goes concave and hurts the patella or other parts when it goes too far back. I still have pain, especially on the lower part of the knee and sometimes on the upper. It has been a year and three months since the replacement. I have been crying lately as the pain is not going away and I"m wondering if I may be allergic to the metal as I've had reactions in the past with metals that weren't sterling silver or 14 carat gold (and higher). To my knowledge, I was not tested for allergy previous to the surgery. Hard to know and if I want the other knee to be replaced,I'll definitely go to another orthopedic surgeon if nothing else for better pain management and be tested to be sure I'm not allergic to the replacement. I am an athlete and perhaps the doctor just thought I was an average older female so put in the narrow spacer as a help which was in error. I'm upset about the thought of going back to replace the spacer so will also find a doctor who would fix that. I'm too worried to have the spacer fixed at Summit due to the poor pain management and the mistake of the spacer. Bummer. read more

My first appointment went well. Had to wait on insurance approval to get next appointment for cortisone shot for my knee. Was called to make the appointment and then the next day I had to cancel that appointment due to another emergency appointment. I called and nobody picked up the phone so I called back about an hour later. Left a message that was 48 hours (their policy) prior to the second appointment. I never received a call back so I called again and left another message for a call back, but again, I never received a call back. I then received a bill for $50 for missing that appointment without a 48 hour prior notice. I called the billing office and left a message asking for a call back. I waited another day to give them time to return the call. I called again and left a message with no call back. I tried again to call, but nobody answered. I then called the office and picked the phone tree choice for making a first appointment. Well, what do you know... THAT call was answered right away. I finally got through to the billing office and expressed my frustration at not getting a call back on 4 occasions and being billed for a "no show" appointment. It seems as if they are good at taking your money but not on customer service. I do not recommend this group. If you want the best Dr. for knee issues, call Dr. Stephen Howell. read more

Have been going to Summit for years the doctors are top rate if you can get lucky enough to get in to see them, but they are just too busy for the person waiting for an appointment that is in pain, I feel like I am not important and bother to them. I had an appointment with a doctor for this month, then got a call from the front office wanted to change it for a month from now, because my doctor is covering for another doctor for a month, doesn't matter I am in pain and have been waiting months already, and then I will be another month behind for treatment, He!! NO. Heard it could be up to 4 months before treatment can be done, I am looking for another doctor that has time for me. This office is way over booked and under staffed, doctors can't keep up and patients are suffering for it, patients that are in pain and that have been loyal for years get pushed to the back of the line. Doesn't matter to anyone how much pain you are in, you are nothing to them and you can wait as long as it takes. Management is a joke too, no one returns your calls, the easiest way to do anything with this office is in person. Tired of having the run around and wait time is unreal. This place takes the cake! Back in early Oct 2016 I went in to get cortisone injections in both wrist, I was in a lot of pain. After my visit I was told they have to submit my procedure to my insurance and would be in touch in a few days. I at that point had so much pain in my wrist I offered to just pay cash for the injections but was told they couldn't do that. Well days turned into weeks. I called repeatedly to find out if they had heard back from my insurance and was told every excuse in the book. I finally called my insurance to see what the hold up was and they said it had never even been submitted. I had my Dr. refer me elsewhere and had my injections done quickly at Sutter Health. Sooooo... here today, 6 months later I get a call from Summit Orthopedics inquiring about my injections. Can you imagine if I had to wait that long? I wouldn't even give these people 1 star if I wasn't required to in order to write this post. Don't waste your time with them because they won't waste their time with you. read more

A few weeks back I made an appointment for someone at the Grass Valley office to see my sore shoulder, with the idea of getting a cortisone shot to relieve the discomfort. It had been sore since November. During the time between making the appointment and the appointment day, I got the requested X-rays of my shoulder. When I got in to see the PA, he examined my shoulder and said that I could benefit from a cortisone injection but I would need to make another appointment and come back. When I asked why he couldn't do it right then, since I was there, he said it's "office policy" to evaluate the patient then have the patient return for the injection. Nonsense. I've had two cortisone shots in my knee and that's not how it went. So .. at the front desk I was told there was an opening in 2 1/2 weeks. That's a ridiculous "office policy" and poor treatment of a patient needing relief. Could it be that they just want to bill my insurance company for two office visits instead of one? read more

This is the worst medical office I have ever been to. I recently was injured riding my bike. I fell and and landed on my right wrist. After going to the ER I was told I needed to be seen at Summit Orthopedic Specialists. They have an urgent care clinic so I went at 5:30pm great because I just wanted to be seen as quickly as possible. When I arrived I waited for over an hour. The lobby is depressing and all they have playing on the large t.v. are ads about their own services. I thought this was a bit odd because why advertise to the patients that are already there? Would it not be better to keep the public entertained while waiting for EVER to be seen? Anyway, when I asked the front desk person who much longer all she could say was let me check. Then I kept waiting. Finally, when I was seen it was by a PA not an MD. The PA never even touched my arm. He cam into the room and told me I had a sprain. He said he knew this from my x-rays. His interaction with me was appalling. I left the office with a brace on my arm. A brace that had the practice logo on it, tacky right? I was still in a lot of pain so I went to another orthopedic practice. I was seen by an MD and had an MRI. Ii was informed by the doctor I had more than just a sprain. Needless to say, I warn you to stay away from Summit Orthopedics at all costs. You will get sub-par care if you go there and probably misdiagnosed. And to add salt to the wound, I was billed an outrageous amount for the visit. I am surprised this practice is still in business. Funny how every so often on yelp there is 5 star review. I am going to say they are fake reviews planted by the practice itself. If it wasn't for a few 5's they would have all 1's. Enough said! read more

Office staff is uncaring, was given an appointment 3 weeks away for a knee injury, they didn't care that I was in pain and could barely walk. They had no appointments and didn't have a clue what I should do in the mean time. I have been seen many times in this office, once you get in to see the docor the service is great but trying to get to a doctor is yet another story, you always have to see a PA first who don't always know what they are doing. I have waited anhour in the waiting room and another 40 minutes in the exam room for a 8am appointment. They open at 8am, how can they be that far behind?? Dr. Greene is great so is PA Chad but they wait times after arriving promptly for an appointment are excruciating. I've waiting on average about 1 1/2 hours from the appointed time to the time I was actually seen by the dr or PA. Watching other pissed off patients express themselves passes time though. Poor time management. Even though I liked Dr Greene and PA Chad and they were helpful, I had to change to another group because I just couldn't handle the wait times. read more

Saw Dr. Hansen for a shoulder issue after PT did not help. Had a loose body and a bone spur removed in November 2015. After surgery I went back to PT, but it was too painful. Went back to Dr. Hansen to receive injections to alleviate the pain. Unfortunately, it did not help as my shoulder is bone against bone. She talked to her co-workers to get their opinion; 1 said shoulder replacement was the best option and the other said just wait and see. She suggested getting a second opinion if I wanted. Never pushed me into surgery. Right now I am waiting to see if it calms down. If I don't feel any relief, I will get a second opinion, but will return to Dr. Hansen for any further treatment. read more

My 13 year old daughter was referred to Summit Ortho after an injury to her right shoulder in a volleyball tournament. After calling multiple times to ask for an appointment, we finally got in. They ended up having a Physician Assistant see her who was dismissive and spent the majority of the appt looking at an iPad where he was facetiming with someone who he was training. We weren't sure of the extent of the injury as she was unable to move her arm without excruciating pain. He told us he felt she needed an MRI and then we could determine the injury and course of treatment. I agreed and they said they had to get approval from the insurance and would call me in a few days. After a week and no contact from their office, I called them and left 6 messages for the woman who was supposed to be coordinating their imaging. She never returned my call. I waited another week and then called and asked to speak with an office manager or someone who could help me. They sent me to different voicemails or took my info and would assure me someone would call me. After a month and after confirming with the insurance that the approval had been sent to their office 5 days after our first appointment, I called again and was sent to another voicemail. It has been 7 weeks since my daughter's injury and I have NEVER had one phone call returned or heard anything by way of mail or email from this office. I ended up taking my daughter to another Ortho who has been treating her. DO NOT do business with this office!! I had heard great things about their Doctors, and they may be great, if you ever can get past the rest of the staff to see them. Go anywhere but here!! read more

***NOTICE*** SUMMIT ORTHOPEDICS YOU HAVE BEEN FIRED!!! Had an appointment last week with at 3 pm. Arrived 230 pm to "fill out paperwork". I noticed everyone in the waiting room looked anxious. Started talking to other patients and some people had been there waiting for over 2 hours. After numerous visits to the front desk, I was told they are running behind. I explained to her that I have been here a few times before and there is always a long wait time. At 420 pm I was brought in the back to a room. I spoke to the young lady who brought me back and I explained to her that an hour and 40 minute wait time is NOT acceptable. She AGREED and said she deals with this everyday. Unhappy patients and long wait times. She said that it was tough working under these conditions on a daily basis. I had X-rays and after another 15 minutes a P.A. came in to see me. He had me do a few movements and said I might have a torn rotator cuff. I asked him if he looked at my X-rays, he said no. I had to wait over 3 weeks to get this appointment with Dr. Cameto. I then pulled out my paperwork that said I had a doctors appointment at 3 pm with Dr. Cameto & REQUESTED to see him. Another 10-15 minutes went by. I then opened the door to my room. 5 more minutes and I finally see the Dr. and the PA in the hall. The PA sees me and says "oh" this new patient wants to see you. Dr. Cameto looked at me & replied to the P.A. that I am not a new patient and he needs to look at my X-rays and will be right back. After a couple minutes Dr. Cameto came in and asked how I was? I said I was aggravated & irritated, His response was "that's OK". IT'S NOT OK!!! Looked at me, had me move my arm and said I need an MRI to find out what is wrong. He told me to check out at the desk and they would contact me after they received approval for an MRI from my insurance. 1 week later NO CALL!! I contacted them and was on hold for about 10 minutes. Phone call was answered and that lady could tell me nothing. I wanted to know whether we had approval for the MRI or if they had even submitted for the MRI. She then had to transfer me to the gal who handles that. I had to leave a message and they would get back to me within 24 hours. At the time of writing this review, it has been over 48 hours. I have already been seen by another DR. at Sacramento Orthopedics. I was able to get in within 2 days. They called me back in 8 minutes. At my appointment I was in & out within 45 minutes...IT IS NOW UP TO YOU TO DECIDE WHERE YOU PREFER TO HAVE YOUR MEDICAL NEEDS TAKEN CARE OF????? I AM GOING TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY... WE DON'T HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THIS POOR SERVICE!!! I WOULD LOVE FOR THEM TO CONTACT ME TO DISCUSS THIS LACK OF SERVICE... read more

The worst experience of my life! Their staff is just unbelievable! You literally can't get anything done over the phone. I broke my arm in August and was seen by them 2 weeks later because they were booked up? What kind of bull is that?!? I HAD A BROKEN ARM! after my appointment I was told I needed surgery and that the front desk would call me in a week to schedule it..a week passed and no one called me. I called them everyday for 3 weeks, 2 times a day trying to schedule my surgery! Every Time I called I was transferred to someone's line that never picked up or got back to me no matter how many messages I left. After putting up with it for far to long I walked in and demanded that my surgery be scheduled at that exact moment for within that week. After my surgery I was to do physical therapy and once again they said they would call me in a week..and no one called so, of course I had to call them and AGAIN I was transferred to someone line that didn't pick up and didn't acknowledge my message. I'm still currently waiting for them to "get back to me". They're not enough words in this world to explain how terrible this place truly is. read more

ANOTHER zero star review! Please pay attention to the bad reviews on this place, because they aren't exaggerating! Dr. Greene did a wonderful job on the surgery, but the operating room is the only time you will ever see a doctor. Their PA's handle any aftercare, and do an extremely poor job of it. Aftercare is practically non-existent. This cattle yard makes a profit from surgery, they DO NOT care about you afterward. My mother was in EXTREME agonizing pain still 6 weeks after surgery, but she was treated as if she was lying, like a druggie seeking a fix. An 83 yr old woman, crying in pain, her phone calls were never returned, not once. She tried to get Summit to fax xrays to a new doctor so she could be seen elsewhere, and they conveniently overlooked that task every day for 2 weeks! She finally was able to see a different ortho surgeon who said that the metal brace was wrapped way too tightly which caused more swelling, also it was pressing on a bone that was chipped. Summit Ortho never saw that chip. Wrapping is done by the local flunky candystriper, not even the PA will do that. When the new doctor rewrapped it correctly, the swelling and pain subsided the same evening. Summit never counseled my mother to keep moving her elbow and fingers or they would freeze up, so they DID freeze and now she must go to therapy to undo that damage. Cattle yard! Prod them through, collect the money and don't let the door hit you on the way out seems to be Summit's motto. I saw Dr. Green for a workers comp injury on April 28th. It took quite a while to get an appointment. I liked the doctor. I was a bit shocked when he said I would be off of work for another 16 to 18 months. After my visit I was given a patient number and web info to access my files. I got on only to discover they had stated that I was a former smoker.(So far from the truth! And very against our corporate environment ) I called and have talked to several people they transfer me to a machine which I left messages that nobody apparently ever responds to. I have messaged Dr. Green with this and further time sensitive information about by work status. No reply, I even went to the office and delivered a note for Dr. Green by hand to the receptionist.The website is always down. My workman's comp person said she had not received anything from their office on may 13th. I requested my records and on May 16th. They charged me $27.75 and their credit card machine was still not working . They did get the records to me in three days.(good) I was shocked when I saw , They sent records to my company stating I WAS a former smoker! It also stated I was to be off of work 8 to 12 months. (why did he tell me 16 to 18?) I liked the doctor I felt he was knowledgeable, just don't feel they care about getting it right on paper, or returning calls, messages or communicating. read more

Honestly does not even deserve a star. I like maybe two doctors out of that office and that is it. I also have had the worst experience with a P.A. Dawn for Dr. Sausara today. She was extremely rude and was not at all concerned about my care. She even talked about another patients case telling my that I should not complain about my pain or problems because its not as bad as another down the hall. First she completely broke HIPAA Laws and she broke the confidentiality of another client. I like Dr. Sasaura, he is very good at his job and so is Erin, they answer my questions without me feeling stupid and understand that I do have pain because everyone has a different pain tolerance. The office makes you wait on the phone to schedule an appointment for about twenty to thirty minutes, any time you want to talk to someone other then who is at the front desk you get someones voicemail and half the time they dont call you back for another week or two. This office can use a lot of improvement. But like I said the two People I like are very good, read more
