If I could give -1000 stars I would. They charged me over 1k for a root canal and crown. They did both wrong I recently found out. They caused an infection in my mouth which spread to another tooth. I now have to pay more money I didn't to begin with. This establisment is garbage and doesn't even bother to follow up with patients after their appointments. Summit Modern Dentistry needs to be investigated immediately and I need a huge refund plus more for pain, suffering and inconvenience. read more

The entire Summit Modern Dentistry team is always very excellent and the care exceptional. This is certainly a testament to the wonderful and professional care of Dr Rachel Slenker and office manager Kelli Olinde. The staff always greets as soon as we walk through the doorway and always have spectacular attention to one of my priorities, a blue toothbrush. That is just a small testament to their attention to the patient. They know and appreciate the health and care of the patient, and assure all care meets the needs of the patient, explains very well what plans and areas of possible concern and paths are attended to and understood, The Hygienist Martha was excellent as always, and Dental Assistant Ashley (?) was excellent for my first time meeting her, she even knew about my preferences apparently thanks to very well attentive Dayana. Kristen is always attentive and caring as is Leslie. Anyway, overall, all excellent!! read more

I've had similar experiences with this place. Went here about 2 years ago, I was new to town and it was close to my new place. I never had a root canal before and I always trusted my dentist back home so I listened to their advice despite not being in any pain at the time. And I had seen my dentist back home regularly but with covid it had been just a little longer than normal. I'm still not sure I actually needed it. It was pricey, I wanted the best since it was my first. I showed up for a follow up appointment and they said my dentist was no longer there. No call, no reschedule, no sorry... nothing. I used to have a cleaning appointment every 6 months scheduled 6 months in advanced. Today (Friday) I went for my appointment and was told that they tried calling me to cancel. That was a lie!! I received a confirmation call and text on Wednesday this week. The excuse was that one of the dentist had quit to be closer to home (they might think I'm stupid enough to believe that lie). If a professional person quits he/she will give ample time notice not 2-3 days. They had enough time to let me know to reschedule. This practice has been going downhill. I'd prefer for them to tell me the truth that someone called in sick or something came up than straight up lie to me. read more

Rude, rude, rude. Dr. Boyce used to be nice, but now he is rude, rude. It seems like he's lost his mind, talking crazy to folks. Constantly canceling appointments. Won't make time to talk with patients. Won't explain tests. They've canceled four of my family's appointments. We've never missed an appointment or been late, but they consistently cancel appointments and order unnecessary tests. The receptionist Haley is also a piece of work. Terrible person. I feel bad for Dr. Karabas. Dr. Boyce yelled at Dr. Karabas right in front of me. Hostile environment. Dr. Karabas should work somewhere where they respect her. She is a nice person. Visited Summit Modern Dentistry for my first trip to a dentist it years. It was a great experience. All of my health forms were submitted electronically before my visit so my check in was very speedy. Dr Boyce greeted me and told me what to expect with my appointment and addressed any questions I had. All of the staff, from the office manager to dental assistants and hygienist were so friendly and were able to ease any hesitations I had. I was in and out of the office in under an hour which was great! I was also happy to learn Dr Boyce is a Lees Summit resident. I felt appreciated as a patient and that my time was valuable. There were no high pressure sales tactics or guilt for not having been to a dentist in a while like I have experienced elsewhere. I'm not sure why I put it off so long. I will definitely be back to see Dr Boyce for my next exam! read more

Horrible Dentistry. o I would give 0 stars if I could. They did a deep cleaning and filling, next thing you know, I have 2 broken teeth. One which needs to be extracted and another one which needs a root canal. Now mind you, before I went in for my cleaning I had no issues with these teeth. I was in excruciating pain afterwards, which I informed them, and they said it was normal for 1-6 weeks. Within 2 days , I contacted them again and said the pain was unbearable, so they prescribed me some pain medicine. Fast forward 2 weeks and my teeth are broken. I scheduled an appointment and went in, only to be told I would have to spend more time money and energy because it is my fault and had nothing to do with the cleaning and the excruciating pain from the cleaning. I will never go there again or recommend anyone else to go there. They are in the business of making money and not generating smiles or fixing dental issues, unless it comes with more money. read more

This is the place to go if you don't mind ending up with a worse situation then you started with and losing your hard earned wage to an incompetent money hungry shady doctor. Long story short had a chipped tooth filled, lasted a week and a half ended up with a bigger chip, got it filled again didn't even last a week, "Dr"s next option was for me to spend over $1200 sacrificing my tooth on a crown. I asked for a refund for the failed filling treatment. Even Kelly the office manager highly doubted that the "Dr." will give a refund and sure enough the conclusion is; I paid Dr Boyce my hard earned money to end up with a bigger and now noticeable chipped tooth. We have been going there about 3 years and they are very friendly and efficient. They haven't tried to upsell us on extras, but they did let us know when our daughter needed braces, or that our son is ready for his wisdom teeth to come out. But they haven't tried to sell us teeth whiteners, straighteners, etc. Although I'm sure that if we were to ask about these services they'd be qualified and ready to help get us what we want. Front office staff is always friendly and helpful when I've called, or when we go in. We have seen both Dr. Boyce and Dr. Karabas and they are both great to work with for us and our kids. read more

I went to this office a few years ago for an emergency dental procedure. At that time, they were competent, caring and capable. Not anymore! This is the worst dental office and the primary dentist, Dr. Boyce, views every client as a potential cash cow by always instilling fear in the patient in order to get them to have a dental procedure that is not needed, mainly a root canal or crown. I saw this dentist several weeks ago for a routine cleaning and he told me that my filling would eventually have to come out because it was so old. I told him my tooth was not bothering me but he said that it did not matter and to have it replaced with a crown due to the size of the filling. Well, unfortunately, I listened and let him replace the filling with a crown and now I have nothing but pain and trouble. The crown keeps falling out (it's only been in for 2 months!) and he now acts like he has no time to fix it and has an attitude. I will go elsewhere in order to get this fixed and receive better care. This dentist creates more problem with your teeth than he fixes. I would not under any circumstances recommend this dentist or his office. If you want to keep your teeth and your money beware. read more

I used to love this office. When it first opened, I referred everyone I knew. That will no longer occur. I even referred my nephew from Puerto Rico! I went in for my appointment today and it was canceled. Amir, the operations manager, told me it was because my insurance issues were not resolved. I told him I received confirmation from the insurance the payment had been made. Then, Tessa, the office manager told me it was because I had not confirmed my appointment. I replied that I had been called 2 weeks previously and confirmed. I received another phone call that I could not take because I work. I received a text message today reminding me I had an appointment. Tessa told me - "Dr Boyce is cancelling appointments for people who don't confirm". Really?? I HAD confirmed, but they wanted me to confirm a second time. I told Tessa I wanted to speak to Dr. Boyce and she went to speak to him. She told me that Dr. Boyce was unable to speak to me but that Dr. Boyce had said if I wanted to leave his practice, I should leave. No one apologized. No concern about the fact that I rearranged my schedule. I was told that 'there are a lot of new people here'. Absolute lack of customer service and concern. Since Dr. Boyce, Amir and Tessa have no concern for me as a patient, I will be finding another dental practice. read more

I went to Summit Modern Dentistry for an exam and cleaning and loved the experience. I have never been a fan of the dentist, but found the staff and Dr. Boyce to be very professional, pleasant and accommodating to my individual needs. The office has incredible technology at their disposal for same day treatment, which I've never seen at other offices, and the dental assistants were so quick and efficient at taking the x-Rays it was a breeze - the dental assistants were awesome and spent time chatting with me before the doctor came in. Most dental offices that I've been in have an uncomfortable feeling to them, but that's not the case at Summit Modern Dentistry - the rooms were each equipped with a flat screen tv and remote to change the channel, along with a water bottle, neck pillow and blanket if you got cold. The bedside mannerisms of all the staff was phenomenal and I truly felt like I could actually relate to the staff on a personal level, something I have never experienced at a doctors office before. I definitely would recommend Summit Modern Dentistry to other patients; the office staff make you feel very welcome and spends as much time answering any questions you may have and/or explaining things in detail to you so that you truly understand. Furthermore, this was the only dental office I have ever been to where the staff actually takes the time to go over your insurance, as well as explain any out of pocket costs that you may have, no mystery bills here!
