I was nervous for my first ever MRI, but the team at Summit Health's Imaging on Saturday were very supportive during the entire process for me. In fact, everyone I interacted with that Saturday morning were good - from security at the building entrance to intake inside Imaging. It made a scary situation much less so for me. Prior to this, I'd really only visited this Summit Health for Urgent Care services. This was my first time visiting another office - imaging/labs on the first floor. The office administration was well organized, and the technicians were A+ with their professionalism and patient care. It looks like my rating is higher than most other reviews within the past year. For me, I haven't experienced long wait times. Also, using the portal for scheduling and retrieving my results has been fine. Granted, I haven't needed to call and speak to an office personnel directly yet. Idk, maybe some changes have taken place since these reviews. So based on my experiences so far, I would recommend the Summit Health in Livingston. read more

I took my three year old son in today for blood work in the Summit health Lab on Northfield in Livingston , NJ and staff member Shavonnee (female )had a very unpleasant and unprofessional demeanor especially for someone that was designated to get blood cultures on a baby. I think it goes without saying that a toddler would not welcome a needle stick , she made a tough experience even harder for my son and in future if needing bloodwork for my children I will refuse her services . I came in for bloodwork on Saturday. Big mistake. I came in 15 minutes early. Here it is 56 minutes later and it seems that everyone else who came in after me got called before me. All I needed done was to have them get blood to check my PSA. I don't know if I ever want to see another doctor in my life or get blood work done. Update: I checked with the desk and they said that they printed my paperwork. Turns out the lab misplaced it so they had to print another one. read more

Every aspect of dealing with this group , from PORTAL access to receiving timely results (on a CT chest "STAT" scan) , has been unnecessarily frustrating and complicated. Nice place. I visited there yesterday after getting symptoms of COVID-19. I tested using the home kit, and it was positive, so to make sure, I decided to get tested at one of these clinics. I visited there before for other family members. This is my first time having Covid-19, so I was not sure if it was a bad case of flu. I walked in and registered at the kiosk, and the receptionist called me immediately and took more information. From arrival to getting tested, it only took less than 10 minutes; after getting swabbed, it took another 10 minutes to get results. Bad news that I contracted Covid, but now I know I have it for sure. They gave me instructions to read that told me how to take five days at home quarantined and five more days wearing a mask if I was to go outside. I recommend this place for anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 and wants to find out for sure if you have it. It's good thing in 2023, COVID-19 does not sound serious anymore. It gave me scares when back in 2020 and the last couple of years. They provide sincere care, I recommend. read more

Medical center, two floors, with a lab and imaging facilities downstairs and upstairs pediatrics. Appointments are sometimes hard to get so call and be prepared to wait a while for providers. The staff is friendly and the people around have a sense of humor as we waited. Check in was relatively painless, and visit wasn't rushed at all. read more

Summithealth (Summit Medical Group) used to be a fantastic place to have all my healthcare needs met. Since they were bought by private equity it has become a machine that can't offer every day care for their patients. If something happens in between annual appointments (which usually have to be booked months in advance) the answer is to go to urgent care. That's not where I want to get my health care! And every time I find a doctor that I like, they end up leaving the practice. My guess is that a good doc who wants to treat patients like humans and not just a means to make the group money, feels the need to go elsewhere. Which, unfortunately, is leaving me no choice but to do the same. read more

Perhaps more than anyone I understand the value of added services. Many times they enhance one's buying experience or provide something valuable to the consumer. Other times, however, they're add ons to increase profit. Under most circumstances I'm totally understanding of this but when it comes to healthcare I'm not. I went to Summit Medical Group this morning with text book symptoms of an upper respiratory infection. I also wanted COVID ruled out since the symptoms can be similar. I was administered a COVID test that was thankfully returned negative and expected a quick exam and a prescription for a Zpack which has always worked for me in the past. I'm a healthy male and take no prescription medications so I thought the request would be simple. I was informed that I wouldn't be able to receive my prescription unless I had a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. She didn't listen to my chest, examine my ears or check my throat. Nothing. The interesting thing was that aside from a bit of chest congestion I was showing absolutely no symptoms whatsoever that could have been pneumonia. Clearly they were trying to upsell me to bill my insurance company for an unnecessary x-ray procedure. I wasn't having it. It was bad enough that I spent an hour and 15 minutes of my time there but I wasn't going to waste any more waiting for something that was completely unnecessary. I'm sure this isn't the first time this is happened and I'm quite positive that it won't be the last. However in certain environments, especially related to medical care, this is completely unacceptable. I went home, called Teladoc and got my prescription 10 minutes later. It's unfortunate because I had knee surgery at one of their facilities last year and the care was excellent. Guess I need to look for a new primary. read more

Went to make an appt for my son he had not been there in a while, and was basically told over the phone very rudely you haven't been here in a while so you're not a patient anymore!!!! no help no sweetness no courtesy on the phone. Been coming here for some time. The staff here has been consistently good. The wait times, even when seats are filled, isn't too bad. The negative stars are for the new check in process. Someone had a 'genius' idea to require checking in at a kiosk. Not unreasonable for a regular doctors visit but for an urgent care???? I saw a sickly elderly woman struggle to pull out her ID, scan it, complete prompts for information... another person brought themselves in and was clearly out of it, but apparently had a past due bill still being processed by insurance and couldn't check in??? It's clear the staff is frustrated with this. One staff member was standing at the kiosk trying to help people go through the prompts... People coming into an urgent care are just not in the best mental state to deal with this crazy check in process. It takes away the personable aspect this place had before. Dr. Jason Abfier at Summit Medical Group absolutely the worst. Strung along for some 9 months with an unresolved stomach issue. Staff supposedly called me to schedule tests but no VM left but 2 hangups so what kind of followup is this? Thought it was crank calls. That was 2 months ago. Dr. wants more appts to discuss what what already discussed last fall. Meanwhile, medical order was either lost or intentionally held. Recommended colonoscopy can't be done since SMG rules have changed overnight from an Uber ride to a shadow accompanying me to and from a rented hotel room next door to the procedure. Who can do this to adhere to asinine restrictive rules? Been washing time messaging this dr. on a portal that barely works. Forget trying to get anywhere calling staff and winding up speaking with someone in some foreign country wanting to know in broken English if I want an appointment. This place and dr. Abfier deserve to be out of service to match their behaviors. To add insult to injury dr. made sure to tell me that I have received "excellent timely and attentive care." Complete BS. What planet is he on? I have one fantastic Dr who is leaving Summit this summer. I really have no use for SMG any longer as it is very clear to me that money is the object here and nothing else. This place has gone downhill in the 4 years I've been a patient there. They are in the wrong business entirely. Comedy Central is more appropriate. What a bad joke. One star for SMG or dr. This place is horrible. You are better off finding a provider who cares about your health and not just another number. It takes months to get an appointment, and don't be late. Then, you would have to reschedule the date for 30+ days. I called another provider and was able to be seen the next day by someone who made me feel special. This place is on the same campus but if you have a hangnail expect a CAT scan and full lab workup, $$$$$. --Expect the place to NOT keep track of ongoing issues. From following up on conditions or problems for which you'd visited the office, to receiving the second dose or shot of a 2-part shot, such as shingles. WRITE IT DOWN ON YOUR CALENDAR. This business is so busy minting money and paying off debt that you will not even find a parking space. You will probably not get through on the phone. If you want to make a crew of donut-drunk enemies, hand them your driver's license, insurance card and credit card, and remind them that HIPPA laws forbid personal information being shared beyond those medical professionals who need the info to do their jobs. I will hastily add that the people actually drawing the blood are lovely and professional. Even the cafe is packed with junk food, missing the chance for this place to educate even the underpaid support staff about how to live a long and healthy life. --SPECIALISTS -- recently advised by a (n extremely competent nurse-- there are many) -- GO OUTSIDE THE PRACTICE FOR A SPECIALIST (this was for a skin thing). This is December and she said she heard the practice's skin doc's were booked through June. Very surprised our qualified elected officials haven't addressed the discrepancy by now when Walgreens and other investment funds aim to purchase ALL local practices and gut them for profit, leading to 7 month lead times for cancer screenings?! Shameless. I felt so comfortable when I walked into this place and saw beautiful, interesting art on the walls throughout the large campus of offices. It spoke of smart, well-educated, happy people focused on delivering competent health care in today's world of greedy, smug bankers ruining businesses and soiling the characters of their handful of partners in crime. I have been dunned for false copays for almost a year. NEVER saw a single bill- just " statements" with bogus " doctor visits" which were clearly 100% insurance covered LABS. ONE YEAR of fruitless complaints from me as they threaten me with collections. my insurance company has told me I'm not responsible for copays on LABS, yet Summit continues to dun me. Apparently I'm not alone. the internet is full of HUNDREDS of complaints about the incompetence of the billing department. I am in the process of researching new doctors because the stress of dealing with the flagrant fraudulent copays is affecting my health. read more

This place is a hot mess. Turn your calendar about 2-3 months ahead of you want an appointment. When you get in you are a cattle going through a factory, no sense of hospitality. Everyone there always seems like it's their first day of trying to quit coffee. Either that or their coffee just wore off and the crash is starting. Or maybe they got into the medicine cabinet. For a physical you have to get butt naked and wear a too-small robe the entire time for no reason. The obese assistant will look at you like you are crazy if you don't get the flu shot - even if you are young and healthy. She said "I got it. Everyone should", then bulged her eyes when I reaffirmed that I don't want it. A lot of the people in there just look like they don't have anything better to do for the day. This was a terrible overall experience. When I walked in the front desk attendant was complaining how she had to do all this work to set up a new patient and how Friday's are "supposed to be quiet." She was talking to her coworker about how annoying it was which was uncomfortable considering how I was standing directly in front of her. Next my experience with the doctor was awful and extremely uncomfortable. The PA or nurse assistant who gave me my gown said the doctor will be right in. When the doctor came in, she was back as well. No one asked my consent. The doctor began to examine me and the assistant was sitting in listening. I was extremely uncomfortable asking and answering personal questions and being examined while being watched by an assistant. Lastly, the doctor completely dismissed a concern I had. She literally said "that's a bummer but there's nothing we can do about it. Nothing will help." It was extremely disheartening for a doctor to completely dismiss and write off a concern I was having without asking me what else I have tried or any relevant blood work/testing done in the past. She completely didn't care. These doctors don't care about their patients and it was an extremely uncomfortable experience. I will never go back here or recommend this group to anyone. These doctors are just trying to get you out of the door as soon as possible and the staff clearly doesn't want to be there either. read more

I've suffered with allergies for what feels like a lifetime now! I saw an allergist by the name of Dr. Khedkar today, and she had an amazing demeanor. She was chipper with a great sense of humor; listened to my symptoms/concerns, and provided me with her input. I felt she truly heard me, and wasn't yes-ing me to death. Her office was able to immediately get me into the lab downstairs, this evening. I had a great first visit, and look forward to returning, to tackle my year-round issues! read more

I have never written a Yelp review before, but for parents of young children, I recommend going to PM Pediatrics in Livingston before resorting to the urgent care here. I took my ill son, who had a fever, swollen glands, a headache, a stiff and painful neck and a rash here three times: the five medical professionals who saw him, including the practice manager Dr. Smith, misdiagnosed him with folliculitis (cellulitis) and a viral illness. The last professional, a nurse practitioner named Stacy Kolbusch, completely dismissed my concerns on my our final visit when I showed her the annular lesions with central clearing he had on his leg. If she had conducted a clinical exam, she would have seen more on his chest and back. But she was uninterested in any clinical exam and told me she was "not impressed" with the rashes (her words) and suggested I see a dermatologist. She consented to do bloodwork for Lyme and of course three days later, it came back positive. Subsequently, she claimed his rashes were "atypical" -- a quick Google search of the CDC website would show rashes that looked exactly like my son's, which makes me question how well versed this practice is in a common bacterial infection endemic to the area. Luckily, in the three days I had to wait for his results, I trusted my gut and took him to PM Pediatrics, where I found an incredibly attentive and caring staff and a wonderful doctor, Dr. Yvette Young, who WITHOUT a blood test (we hadn't gotten the results back yet) was immediately sure he had Lyme on a careful clinical exam. All in all, if I had taken to her first, he might have been correctly diagnosed and started on antibiotics two weeks ago. read more

Unprofessional and inept staff. They rescheduled our appointment with Dr. Yeum to Dr. Yeungren and told me it was the same Doctor. They also told me Dec 24 and when I asked Christmas Eve? They said yes, unfortunately only recent opening. When we came in they told us we were scheduled for Jan 24 and that it was our mistake. We came back on Jan 24 and saw Dr. Yeungren. Recently we called to schedule an OBGYN as we are expecting and worried about an ectopic pregnancy. Staff told us an appointment on last day of our 8th week was what we could have. Staff was insistent that it was in our 7th week, that she would not grant a sooner one as she did not deem it necessary(thinks she is Doctor), and that if my Wife was having stomache pains she should go to ER. Summit Medical Group Ambulatory Surgical Center, Berkeley Heights: My husband had general anesthesia for a urological procedure and was quite groggy and uncomfortable upon awakening. The nurse rushed him to "eat a cookie" so she could give him a pain med, get him, up and rush him out of the bed and "bay" because they needed it for more patients. He was clearly unready to get up and leave but had to go. The catheter he was using was not put back together correctly. (We needed a You Tube at home to figure out the correct connections). There was no offer of assistance or a wheelchair although he clearly could have used it. About a month later he had a similar procedure at Short Hills Ambulatory Surgical Care and was treated much better. The assisting nurse was attentive to his needs, gave him the time needed before rushing him out, and even assisted him to the exit and our car. read more

Surprisingly Saturday's aren't too busy. The office is brand new. Lots of different specialties share the space it seems. Like walk-in clinic, pediatrics, and obgyn from what I could tell (could be more). It can get crowded with sick kids in the winter, especially for mid-day appointments. I have been trying to get through to Summit Medical all weekend. I waited on hold for 45 minutes on Saturday, Dec. 31 at a time when they were open. I was told I was caller number 2 for the entire time. Now, the same thing is happening, except now I'm caller number 7! They are open and I can't get through to anyone. Always satisfied with the service, I've been going to summit medical group since my son was 2, he's now 22. They have some of the top Dr's. The waits are rarely long, the various locations are very clean, the staff has always been friendly to me. I have patronized the following location: Berkeley Heights Westfield Warren Short Hills Livingston Florham Park Morristown I have utilized the following services: Pediatric Medicine Internal Medicine Endocrinology Podiatry Orthopedic Hand Specialist Physical Therapy Radiology Urgent Care After Hour Clinic Gynecology Lab Allergist What can I say, if it hurts or doesn't feel right, I tend to it immediately for myself and my family. I believe in World Class service and with Summit Medical, I gotten that over the past 20 years. I had to go here today for a cat scan. What a beautiful, clean, building! I was impressed that as soon as I walked in I was greeted and asked why I was there. I said cat scan and was directed to the right area. As soon as I arrived, I was checked in for my 840AM appointment. I filled out a brief form that I was told would go to the tech and waited. In less than five minutes the tech called me in. She was very nice and explained the procedure clearly. It only took a few minutes to complete the scan. I was in and out in less than 30 minuues. read more

Urgent Care stinks and most of their doctors do as well. I have a primary care physician at SMG who is attentive but talks nonstop about nothing in particular. So when I make an appointment I always wait and my appointment is long because of the incessant talking. Their office sucks - very rude staff, and most of their nurses are grossly obese - what kind of message is this sending to the public? My insurance covers the doctors in this practice and that's why I come here, but if I have an emergency, I pay to go to the ER ($35) which is immediate and much more professional. I no longer go to their eye doctors in the practice because an appointment takes 3 months or more - I go out of practice. They are in it for the $$ only - check your bill when you get it as often they over bill. read more

I had an appt at Summit Medical Group in Livingston, NJ at 9:30 this morning with general surgery. I was sent there by the VA. I walked up to check into my appt. the girl at the front desk informed me that they never received the paperwork from the VA and that I could not be seen without it. I tried for an hour and a half calling the the Va for them to resend it. After my appt was canceled at 10:30, I drove to east orange. I'm looking at fax confirmations that the VA sent to Summit Medical Group where my authorization forms were sent multiple times. My advice: DO NOT COME HERE!! They turn away disabled veterans because they can't get their shit together. I've had this appointment schedule for a month, maybe longer only to be turned away for a form that they already had. Great job Summit Medical Group. You really show the world how you feel about veterans. Basically, treat them like shit. read more
