Local hospital, part of the Atlantic Health system. They also have an ER with a pediatric section, and parking garage, small mini-doctor's offices with specialists (separate billing from the main hospital) and other buildings. True to the name, located up on the hill. Service in the ER, like many places, is slow... it'd be better if they had a 24-7 urgent care center.

If I could give a zero then I would. Despite there being a lot of really great nurses there, attentive, friendly, capable, etc.... there are a few who do not deserve to ever, EVER, work in healthcare. The two I am referring to shared many of the same characteristics that included a bad attitude, rolling their eyes at family members and even the charge nurse, entitled huffing and puffing, arguing about being caught doing something wrong and even against hospital policies and the law! And the list goes on! Both of these nurses were on the 10th floor. The one named Subin, was forcing pills into my brother's feeding tube that were not crushed fine enough. There were big chunks, some as much as a quarter of an inch across! Yet she tried so hard to plunge that into my brother that her hands were shaking. Of course this led to her clogging the feeding tube. What did she do? She left my special needs, blind, paraplegic brother in that condition and what's worse is she denied him any dignity by covering up his private parts! She left him exposed like that and started walking out the door! Didn't say a word. Refused to answer my questions about what she was doing , just walked out. I caught up with her at the door and she just ignored me and walked out. I assumed she would be coming right back and took the liberty of covering my brother's nakedness that was left for any passersby to view. She did not come back. Because of that untrained idiot my brother has to go through another three hours of hell having other people try to correct the damage she did to the feeding tube. What's worse is that she clogged it so badly that he didn't get any food or nutrition from the feeding tube for nearly 24 hours when another nurse noticed that the food container had not been changed and was still full. It has become totally blocked and he went without fluid or nutrition for a whole day. Was this "nurse" fired on the spot? Was she suspended pending investigation? No! She wasn't reprimanded at all! She was not punished or admonished or even given a warning for her behaviour. The next incident was when it was time to be discharged. The nurse then refused to give my brother the medication he requires in order to be transported and although I requested it three times she would only reply," oh. You want me to do that now?" But then she wouldn't. I also asked her repeatedly to remove the multiple IV 's from my brother's arms. Which she kept not doing. Then when transport arrives I asked her again if she had removed the IV 's from his arms and she gave me attitude and said , in front of witnesses, that she had removed them. I had been busy running things back and forth to my mom's car and my car since we were only told that we were being discharged less than two hours from the time the transport was supposed to be there to remove my brother so I made the HUGE mistake of believing that this nurse did her job! You can imagine our shock when we got my brother home and unwrapped him from the blankets to find the IV needles still in his arms. Now remember that this nurse who left them in assured me in front of multiple witnesses that she had removed the IVs. She did not. When I spoke with the hospital about this problem later they tried to tell me that the nurse in question had " self reported" herself for having " forgotten" to remove them. Really??? Bull!!! I had asked her at least three or four times over the space of two hours to remove them and she blatantly lied in front of witnesses that she had done it! But she hadn't. Self report my backside! She also refused to give her name. The hospital has also refused to give me these nurse's names. It is my family's right to know the names and licensing information of these two alleged " nurses" yet the hospital administration is refusing to provide us with those names. I fully intend to report both of them to the state nursing authorities and medical boards. I will be filing complaints against them for negligence and medical malpractice. The hospital knows this and is denying me the information that is supposed to be made available. Ok Overlook! You want to abuse a special needs paraplegic and think you can get away with it? Guess again. I'm not going to be talked down to by your so called risk and human relations department who like to change words and answer questions they want to and not the ones I asked. This is not over. I will get justice for my brother and for the abuses he suffered while he was under your alleged " care". I have plenty of photos I can add but due to the nature of the concerns and how they were perpetrated against a special needs person who is unable to do anything about it I am unsure if I should add them.

I can't believe some of the negative reviews. I have nothing but gratitude and kind words for the folks at Overlook Medical Center, formerly Overlook Hospital. Both of my parents passed away at Overlook and were treated in the most humane and compassionate manner. For this, I am beyond grateful. My father had Sepsis and a wonderful, caring doctor. My mother passed from COVID-19 and her end-of-life doctor was just as wonderful. Overlook is also great with kids. I had surgery there when I was a young child. I still remember how nice the doctor and staff members were! You all have hard jobs. I don't envy you. I know your work got harder after COVID. Everything changed for all of us, including those in the Medical field. I know this to be true. All I can say is thank you. I took this photo on one of my epic walks around Summit! (I actually love it)! One more thing...I hope you all know how special you are...and that you do change lives!

I made an appointment for her MONTHS in advance, only to find out the week before that Dr Patel would not be able to see her because my mom used to be a patient of one of her colleagues in the practice (who no longer works at Atlantic Health) 2 years and 9 months ago. Their policy is that the doctors only see patients once every 3 years. Despite the fact that my mom's memory has steadily declined over this time, she cannot see the doctor. When I persisted and advocated on her behalf, they agreed to let her see Dr Patel, but on another day. Because the time slot during which I scheduled the appointment was reserved only for NEW patients. Save your time! Don't see Dr Patel

I…read morehave worked in medical for 15+ years and this is the absolute worst treatment I have ever received on behalf of my loved one, who is suffering with memory loss. You will wait months just to see Dr. Patel and when you do her bedside manner and compassion will be absent and then you will be passed off to a nurse practitioner who is extremely inexperienced. There was zero follow up on any of the diagnostic testing directly from the doctor, all that is offered is a follow up appointment with the NP. NP had the audacity to say my loved one was "visibly upset" and that she would connect us with a "social worker". I was appalled. Of course my loved one is upset, their short term memory is completely depleted. She also recommended doing crossword puzzles. Suggesting CROSSWORD PUZZLES to a patient that is already in cognitive decline is disgraceful! The Atlantic Neuroscience Institute should be ashamed of this treatment of memory loss patients. My heart really breaks for any family that has waited to see the doctors at this office, they show absolutely no compassion for how awful this disease is and also seem to have absolutely no solutions. You will be passed off to an extremely inexperienced and unprofessional NP with little to no direction for follow up care. I will be the first to say I reacted very emotionally in the office based on the treatment that we were given. However, something needs to be done and changed inside a practice operating this way. Please AVOID this office at all costs and find a competent providers with compassion and consistent follow up care for your memory conditions . My love goes out to the sufferers and caregivers of this awful disease, doctors like this should not be allowed to care for you.

Of the group, Dr. Teresa Manocchio (pronounced like Pinocchio) is my all-time favorite. She has a warm bedside manner and an honest, down-to-earth personality. She's a natural. The entire staff including nurses and receptionists (who can validate parking) are great with children and their parents. In the waiting area, there's a spot for parking strollers and Nemo and Dory impersonators in a fish tank that separates healthy and sick patients. While receptionists can book appointments, online scheduling's available on a "patient portal" for $69/year for one child (and $30/year for each additional child). Visit notes, recommendations, and vaccine information are shared on the portal but more importantly, future appointments are easier to schedule with any doctor you wish. For regular check-ups, bringing a blanket helps keep babies warm when they need to be stripped to their diaper. One time I forgot and had to use my hoodie. Wait times typically range from 5 to 15 minutes. The staff's pretty mindful of keeping healthy kids away from exam rooms previously occupied by a sick child. The doctors use current best practices and fully answer any questions. They also perform ear piercings for $100 which includes a starter pair of earrings from a selection of 5 choices. I suggest bringing a book or toy as a distractor for immediately after the piercing. For semi-emergencies, you can call for a same-day appointment with the doctor on duty. I love this group so much that I recommended them to my brother's family. It's a matter of trust.

At 630 this morning, I realized I had forgotten to pack my thyroid medicine to take with me on vacation to Boston. I called and left a message requesting a prescription be called in for 5 tablets. I gave all of my personal info, and provided the location and phone number of the local CVS, which was in Salem, where we'd be spending the day, as well as my own phone number. I did not receive any call back confirming that the message was received, etc. So I called again, at about 9:35. I was told the prescription had been "called in". Ok, great. We did some sightseeing at I went to the CVS at 11:30 assuming the prescription would be ready or nearly ready. I was told it was never received. Called the Dr office again. I was told that the Dr on duty never looked at it because he was busy with patients. Ok, but I'm a patient also, and I had iniated this request in the early morning, so could they please ask him to do it between patients she said she would ask him to do that. I returned at 1:30... STILL NOTHING. I called the Dr office and was told the same story. We went to lunch. I called the pharmacy at 330. THE PRESCRIPTION WAS A) NOT CALLED IN TO THAT LOCATION, BUT TO ANOTHER ONE IN SALEM; B) THE DR PRESCRIBED *A*FULL*30 DAY* SUPPLY* which I did not ask for, and the prescription coverage denied it because I'm not due for a FULL refill until October. I called the Dr office A G A I N, told them what they did which was WRONG, and they proceeded to pit me.in hold then hand me off to someone who expected me to start from the beginning to explain it to her. NO THANKS. I called the CVS back, worked with the pharmacy to only fill it for 5 tablets, for which I had to pay out of pocket since the INEPT DR OFFICE called in the WRONG QUANTITY so the pharmacy could not run it through my prescription coverage for less than 30 day supply. I. AM. LIVID. I've NEVER dealt with such ineptitude in my life.
