Dr margolin specifically and his staff are just absolutely amazing . They are so caring and so knowledgeable . Dr margolin spent an incredible amount of time going over all of my medical records asking very details and specific questions. I was able to make an appointment within a few days as supposed to trying to get an appointment with my doctor at Summit health which was going to take over a month to get . Anything to bill insurance and waste patient's time. My dad had a colonoscopy 3 months ago. Pathology results are back and the doctor insisted that he couldn't discuss it over the phone or through telehealth appointment. Ok, so wait 5 anxious weeks, pay $75 co-pay and wait 90 minutes in the waiting room only to be spend less than 5 mins with the doctor to hear that "potential" pre-cancerous lesions were removed and "see you in 3 years!". Seriously? All so that insurance can be billed as an office visit and you can collect a co-pay?! Well, guess what, if that encounter states anywhere that my dad was examined in any way or that the encounter is coded as a full office visit (anything more than a 99212), I'm calling the insurance company for fraud. If you want to waste your time, this is the clinic for you. Anything to get insurance reimbursement! We won't be coming back here! read more

My regular gastro doctor (who I have seen for many years, and is a member of this group) referred me to one of his associates (Dr Dhirmalani) for an endoscopy-ultrasound procedure to help diagnose the chronic and severe pain I have been having. I had never met Dr D before, but I was agreeable to having him do this b/c of the high ratings he has received. I've been suffering with pain on a daily basis for over 3 YEARS. I have been taking active measures and undergoing all of the necessary steps to get a diagnosis which has still been nothing more than "gastric ulcer". This EUS procedure took place at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ in June 2020. When Dr D entered my cubicle prior to the procedure, he asked me what I was having and why. I explained the details and added that the pain was worse while lying down as well as while standing for long periods of time (such as while cooking or washing dishes). He responded by saying, "well, just have your husband do the dishes"! I was appalled and shocked by his insensitivity and lack of professionalism. The female nurse and anesthesiologist were present and were amused at this. It was a light moment for them, but I did not appreciate it at all. What was he thinking? It's really sad to see someone so educated act so sophomoronic and insensitive. People with his attitude shouldn't be doctors who interact with patients! read more

People who are sick need competent medical care. You won't get that from Advanced Gastroenterology Group. Please do not go here. I thought I had found a highly-rated healthcare provider to help me treat my advanced GERD. Lies. I chose Dr. Dhirmalani. Don't. To make a long story short: He was an arrogant ass. He did not listen to me when I told him I had taken the medication he was trying to prescribe a long time ago and it didn't work then. He didn't even look at the big bag of medications I had brought that didn't work that whole year. He was abrupt and interrupted me often, then asked me how I found his practice, which is weird to ask when I am trying to get answers about my illness. Then, he decided I had a peptic ulcer. No blood tests. No stool kit. No tests. His notes were not accurate. He said he gave me prescriptions for three medications but I only had prescriptions for two. He also said he counseled me about a procedure he did not counsel me on. The staff is incompetent. They faxed a form to Cologuard with the wrong ICD code and as a result I didn't get the test kit expediently. I had to get the office to fix it and resend. The woman at the front desk, Frances, I guess, refused to schedule a urea breath test I requested because it was "not in my file." I had to call 4 times to finally get a call back from the doctor so I can have the test done. [This is the same woman that hassled me about my insurance saying she couldn't tell me how much my copay was until the day of the appointment. Fortunately, the insurance company told me so I could prepare.] I soon discovered the scheduler had scheduled me for the wrong test. I had requested a urea breath test to check for h. pylori, but they scheduled me for a hydrogen bt test which has nothing to do with h. pylori. I waited weeks for tests, but all they did was blame the doctor. When a patient requests "Urea Breath Test" and you see that the doctor says "hydrogen," shouldn't you do your due diligence to make sure everyone is on the same page? Because I had taken Pepto Bismol I the past month, my urea breath test would have been postponed. I just canceled the appointment altogether. I am still sick, but I'll have to figure it out on my own. Very disappointed. Don't just look at the stars. Do yourselves a favor: When looking for a doctor, pay attention to the 1 star reviews. That's how it really is. Don't waste your time here. read more

Recently switch from one Gastro practice to this one to see Dr. Grover. Got there for my 9:40 appointment and at 10:40 I still wasn't seen. I asked the receptionist what was going on. She said he's running behind and I had about four patients in front of me. I was so upset. They switched me to see another doctor in that group and as I write this review I am still waiting. So I do not recommend this practice, the Doctors clearly don't respect the patients time. It was my first appointment here and after today will be my last! read more

I had a procedure done by a doctor in this group in February. I made 3 timely payments to satisfy my balance not covered by the insurance company. Two were made in person during follow ups and the final payment (under $200) by mail in July. In September I received a notice from a collection agency requesting that I pay the balance owed on my account. To correct the confusion, I called Advanced Gastroenterology and spoke to a billing clerk named Maria who happens to be a very nasty creature. I explained that I sent my last payment with the LAST invoice that was sent to me in July with all of my credit card information written on the paper. I did not expect to receive a collection notice. I asked Maria why wasn't my payment processed? why wasn't I sent a late notice if you are telling me you did not receive the payment? Why didn't anyone call me? This nasty creature replied that "We don't send late notices out! We sent your account to collections call them." Is that the way patients are treated? This is a pandemic and challenging times for everyone. You don't treat people like that. She is like a cancerous polyp that needs immediate removal. I hung up the phone and called the collection agency. I spoke to a very nice person who understood my situation and what I was saying and accepted payment. So now because of this albatross Maria, Advanced Gastroenterology has to pay the collection agency a commission, lose a patient, referrals and receive a deservedly bad review. Insurance companies and the medical board are also going to hear about this. read more
