This is the worst ISP you can imagine. Constant service interruptions that go on for hours or even days. They provide no information during outages and they don't have web updates during an outage - you have to call them to get info. Imagine that - an ISP that relies on phone rather than the internet for communicating outage information. It's like the old companies that thought the internet was just a fad. They seem to survive on being a cheap alternative for HOAs but this is truly a case of "you get what you pay for". If your community is even considering Summit, fight against it as hard as you can. This is the worst company in the world for custumer service. My telephone service has been down for weeks. I've tried calling every day and have spent a minimum of 1.5 hrs on hold on each attemp with no help at all. Even after leaving a call back number there is still no help. I tried sending e mails and summit flags them as spam. If you are looking for an isp do yourself a favor and use ANYONE else. Since I can not get in touch with them no matter how I try my only recourse now is to stop paying the bill . I'm certain they will call to collect. Absolutely terrible provider STAY FAR AWAY! Summit Broadband claims to offer "High speed" internet but their internet is never consistant, nor is it high speed. They're also quick to blame the customer for any issue and they refuse to acknowledge that the problem exists on their end. Their techs are about as knowledgeable as a 60 year old grandpa trying to figure out how to change the tv input from hdmi 1 to hdmi 2. Several techs I've had come out have had no idea what they're doing and I've had to explain to them how their own equipment operates. Our HOA entered a contract with this company because someone on the B.O.D. had family who worked for the company (which already is a MAJOR conflict of interest). Summit advertises high speed internet but only gives our community 20 mbps download and 5 mbps upload. This isn't "high speed" at all. Maybe in 1998 it was but it's 2020. They claim it's fiber but can only give up 20 mbps down and 5 mbps upload with no upgrade available. My internet used to go out 6 times a day until I did my own research and realized the modem's upstream and downstream power levels were too high. When I requested a tech to come out and fix it the tech argued with me that reducing the power levels would not fix my issue but did it anyway. Needless to say the issue was fixed and the tech was wrong. My internet speeds also drop randomly throughout the day for no reason. I've seen my speeds go as low as 4 mpbs download and .05 mbps upload. No that decimal is not a typo, my internet speeds just die. Summit refuses to do anything to fix this issue and claims it's because I have too many devices connected to the network. However I've disconnected all but my pc from my network, reset my modem, made sure nothing was downloading or streaming, and still reported speeds as low as 4 mpbs download and .05 mbps upload. I've had 12 techs come out to fix this issue and every single one has claimed nothing is wrong even though I have evidence to show and prove the low speeds. One of the techs claimed my power levels were too low and removed the 2 way splitter (that the tech who fixed my original issue placed) and put a 5 way splitter (with 3 of the outputs not even being used). I asked the tech multiple times not to put it on due to my previous issue and he claimed everything was fine. My internet now goes out 5-6 times a day again due to improper power levels. Stay far far far away from this company, they'll rip you off and laugh all the way to the bank. read more

Three months later summit states they have not been able to renegotiate their contract with Cox Media Group, so they will no longer broadcast ABC + affiliate WFTV. Not sure why this company offers and charges for internet services their equipment is unable to handle. We live in an apartment complex "Latitude 27" in Sarasota Florida; about 2 months ago we ran into a problem when running an application through our smart tv. We called customer support to be told that the problem was our "internet plan" or "data tier plan". They suggested to upgrade two tiers up so we did, bringing our monthly plan almos $30 extra a month. To make a long story short after numerous calls for support "every time we call no one knew what was going on - no one care to put nites on the account" and even on-site tech visits "the technician didn't even bother to go to the cable room where the main switch is and perhaps reconnect our data line on a different port or even trouble shoot from there", we were told by the technician that the equipment "switches" they have here in the complex are not capable of running such speeds. Be aware "latitude 27" residents - If you read this review go online run a speed test "you can use google" check your bill and make sure you're getting the speeds your paying for. read more

Internet is really bad and I am forced to have the service because of the apartment complex I'm in, no other service can come in so I guess they have a contract with the complex I live in. I work from home and I can't remember how many times I have to miss work or incomplete work day because of the internet. I thought by upgrading it would be faster and no issues but not much change. Customoer service???? I stop calling no point, not much help if you get to speak with someone. You would wait for a while for someone to get on when they do it seems no one know what is going on you would be transfer to another area and have to repeat yourself over again and don't get much help and some I had spoke with some are rude and made me feel stupid like I don't know anything. I may not know much about technology but enough to understand it. I don't know much about cable or phone with them as I really don't watch TV, I only need a good internet for work and this would not be it. I live in a gated community therefore we cannot choose our own cable community. Parker Lakes made a contract with Summit broad band because they got a low priced deal and that is exactly what they received all the way around LOW LOW Low. We get TV, internet, phone all inclusive however to begin I started getting bills for months and my service hadn't even started! Then I sent them THEIR contract and information showing phone is included and they insist I pay tax and pay in advance which I explained they are charging more than if I paid a whole year advanced. The rep looked and agreed and said I will get a call from a manager it has now been 5 months and no call back only to go use my phone it is disconnected. I have an 88 yr old father that needs access in case of emergency. The FTC needs to investigate this company as something doesnt appear to be right and above board here. read more

I turned in my extra receiver box some months ago to Summit Broadband in Naples and paid my bill. I keep getting billed for it even though I have called and emailed this. No, I didn't keep my paper work Because I thought it was handled. Several call's later they asked if they could come out and check my house. I said they could. They claimed they would call me to set up an appointment to come out. When that didn't happen I assumed they found out their mistake. I just got another email with an updated bill. Now that I have left Florida and returned to Michigan they will continue to bill me until someone may or may not come out in November to check for the phantom receiver. Don't bother pressing 1 for a call back because that doesn't work either. When out golf community ( 600 doors) signed on with Summit they were great. From inability to get a response to set up services, given bad equipment - both boxes - at their Orlando location, technical support not knowing how to read their own SN/MAC address labels, to continual billing errors, customer care team ignoring calls and emails, and argumentative agents (telling me customer support isn't for customer support - what the what???) they are completely incompetent. It has required monthly calls and emails to try to get things straight. Unfortunately, our development doesn't offer any other service or we'd have switched months ago. I would give zero stars if that were an option. I would go with literally any other company if I had the choice. my hotspot is more reliable than their internet service. The apartment complex I live at (Springs in Port Charlotte) requires that we use this awful company. Given what I pay for rent, you'd think they would at least choose a more reliable internet provider or give us choice, as we pay for the internet ourselves. we can barely stream most days on our tv, the internet on our computer keeps kicking us off. and if the internet service wasn't bad enough, their customer service is worse. I've spent hours on the phone trying to fix internet issues. I have gone days without internet and asked why I am paying for service that I am unable to use. They simply are the worst fiber company ever. I live at otow and from n y where I have a real fiber optic provider. Summit is like a pre mature baby compared to Verizon. First problems they are mostly contract workers from many different companies and one hand doesn't know the what the other is doing. Lousy customer service,un trained so called technicians not a splicer among them. First they promise a mesh router with mesh satellites for each condo. That is a lie their mesh router cannot supply wifi to 1100 sq. Foot condos which constantly fails. I've had Verizon for 15 years never an outage unless it's a utility cut in ny street here always something, some poor excuse. Our hoa hired them or we would all fire them yesterday. I worke 26 years for Verizon and never saw such shabby workhorrible customer service and such luring going on.we're a captive audience who got sold out from our h o a who probably got kickbacks. Absolutely horrible service. In and out constantly. They turned me off because I forgot to pay a bill with no warning. I was in the middle of class and had to call to get them to turn it back on. Just an email or call letting me know that I was late and this could have been avoided. My association pays for most of the bill I just pay for extra boxes, so I'm not sure how they could even turn us off. This company is so horrible that I actually tried to go back to Comcast. We have had pixelation and voice dropping on multiple channels for more than a year and one half. Six technicians including their senior tech visits all stating it was an engineering issue. One technician told us to go to the office and get a new HDDVR box. One technician told us it wouldn't fix anything. After so much frustration, we went to the office, dealt with a customer service person who seemed angry at the world, throwing the equipment in the back room and not wanting to explain anything about pairing the remote with the box. We went home and hooked up the box and lo and behold, the box was programmed to Orlando and not where we live, even though she asked what our zip code was and scanned in the box. We logged in on the website and were able to start a chat. The agent was able to reset the box. Our pixelating and audio drop is still happening. Nothing has changed. We are paying full amount of our bill monthly and not getting service. We're, unfortunately, stuck with this service because our community board signed a 10 year contract. My guess, they can ignore us because of that contract. They're too busy expanding their networks to take care of their current customers. They need some decent engineers. It is time to expose their complete incompetence. Don't ever get this service. They are awful. read more

This is the worst internet service that I have ever had! The service is down several times a week and they don't deliver the gigabytes that they promise. I also have phone and cable through them and they are also bad. When the internet goes down, so does the phone service. The cable service losses channels frequently and they don't come back on for days and sometimes week's. Summit Broadband is also slow to restore service back once they discover that there is a problem. read more

I subscribed to a 1000MB speed for $40/mo as I will start working from home from time to time. I currently get 94Mb on standard package. After the phone order, lady said I was all set. I get home from work, still 94Mb. I call that night, great guy named Josh first mentioned my low light problem, perhaps bad fiber. Scheduled a service visit. Tech came, replace my fiber box/OMT, said i was all set for fast speed. Checked later on that day, still 94Mb. I guess he never checked the fiber. Called back that day, after 1.5 hrs with the phone tech not being able to figure why I'm not getting the speed I'm paying for, scheduled another service visit. Service tech never showed up on the scheduled day. I called back to tech support. Evidently the service ticket was made, but never communicated to the field techs. What crap! So we try again in a week. Not confident. read more

The service is so unreliable and the staff, although usually friendly, is under trained. This is by far the worst cable /internet company with whom I have ever dealt. 1.They came into my community cut the irrigation lines months ago and we are still dealing with the aftermath of no water and the legal battle from that . They say that they were not responsible even though it was their contractor that did the damage. 2.They will not issue refunds when premium services were not received. 3.They set you up for online account services but the next time you log in they insist that you have never had an online acct. 4.They enter on their end incorrect email contact addresses 5.They insist on a 10 yr contract so who the hell in that company cares if you are dissatisfied. They are going to get their money from the jacked up association dues you pay directly from your community. 6.The cost for this company is more than the previous cable company and the services and channel selection is far worse. I'm in a bundled community that is serviced by Summit. I have a remote that went on the fritz. I called summit they said they would supply a remote at no charge but I would have to pick it up. The location is a 40-mile round trip. Uber wants $80.00. Or Summit will send a service man out for $79 to hand me a remote. Why not mail the remote I asked? They said they don't do shipping? Who doesn't do shipping? Why are they so senile about this? Why do they inconvenience their customers like this? If I had a choice I'd Change in a heartbeat. read more

We have had Summit for about 8 years now, and have been plagued with constant problems, the most recent of which has been an outage of internet and phone for more than 32 hours. I would love to change my ISP, but my HOA fees pay for this and as a retired senior citizen, I have a problem with paying for something twice. Summit is as good as any Cable / Internet service provider. Their customer service is acceptable. Their cable TV and Internet speed selections are ample. I've had Comcast Xfinity and Direct TV. Summit overall is just as good. The only real criticism is their standard DVR only allows 2 different recordings at a time. Direct TV's was 5 different channels at the the same time. read more

Summit Broadband was forced on Heritage Palms Country Club, Fort Myers, FL owners, in deference to the renewal of service by Comcast, by it's board of directors without the advice or majority consent of the home owners. It is is a small company offering the worst technical and customer service in the South Florida region. I have never been able to log on to my account to check my transactions and do a transaction or account history review even though it is offered. All one can do is see their balance. A message is always displayed that the account site is not available. It just says to call customer service. I have called and the person(s) who answer sound like they are semitrained and sitting in a one room, one desk office somewhere. They try to do do the best they can based on their training and managerial backup. What a poor, aggregious disservice the Heritage Palms Board Of Directors did in switching from Comcast to this two-bit regional small company. Individuals and country club populations should never consider contracting with them unless they are absorbed by Verizon or Comcast someday.
