One of the best places around to grab a beer, especially if you're looking for something craft. Worth a visit! Came here with a friend the other day to give it a try. It had been in my bookmarks for a few months, though since I generally like to drink where food is available, I hadn't yet ventured here. I'm glad I did: great selection of brews from across the spectrum: plenty of wheat beers, IPAs, hoppy beers, whatever your heart desires (except for Amber ales, didn't see any when I came). The regularly-shifting menu of offerings gives you plenty of reason to come back again and try something new next time. One thing that you will notice even as you walk in the door is how small the place is. It is definitely better for a one-on-one drinking session or a date, and not for large groups to congregate. Also, not a lot of domestic/generic beers available, which is understandable: this place is about expanding your beer horizons rather than throwing back the tried and true. The size helps keep the sound levels down so you can actually hear the person you're sitting next to. The prices here are relatively high, so all the more reason to be choosy in who you bring with you. While I wish you good luck in finding a nearby parking space (this area is always jam-packed even for meter parking), if you can navigate your way here, it is definitely worth a try. It's always good to have choice, and this is a solid one for craft beer lovers! Overall: 3.5 stars ------ Pros: - Excellent selection of craft brews, probably the best in the area. - Intimate setting for a date, and quiet enough to have a drink with a friend. - Bartenders are friendly and attentive. Cons: - As you might expect for downtown and craft brews, prices run higher here than other local places. Definitely not for everyday visits unless you only drink craft beer. - Parking is extremely difficult (as it is for most downtown venues), so hope you get lucky with a space or be willing to walk a few blocks. read more

A must for craft beer / bourbon heads if you are in the Huntington area. Don't know about the food, because that's not why we came, nor do I believe it's their thing - all about the drink. Great selection and very knowledgable bartender. Where else can you find 2 nitros, 3 different saisons, half a dozen or so IPAs in addition 15 give or take other brews all on tap at the same place? If I lived in Huntington this would definitely be my "Cheers" because I'd be here all the time. I was in town on a business trip and wanted one last beer before I headed to my hotel room on a cold Tuesday night. I put the address in my Google Maps app and it brought me to where Summit Beer is located but I couldn't see it. It's tucked back in a shopping/dinning area so it's a little tricky to find at first. As soon as I walked in I knew I'd found a great spot for a beer. The place is small, in a cozy kind of way. Only 4 or 5 bar stools. It was a really slow night so I just sat at the bar, had a beer and enjoyed some conversation with the bartender. They had a decent beer selection and maybe for this area it's a great beer selection. When I travel I like to try local beers and I was a little disappointed that there weren't more local beers available. I'm not all that familiar with the beer scene in this part of the country so maybe they didn't have many local beers simply because there aren't many local breweries. Long story short, if you like quality beer and you are in Huntington this is a great place to go. If you are a college kid looking for $2 Bud Light this is not the place for you. Come back in a few years when you acquire a taste for the good stuff and have a little extra change in your pocket to afford it. read more

First let me start by saying I like this place. I do. Prove it? I've spent $1,000 there in the last couple years. A cut above the rest in this town full of shit bars. Good beer selection (no shitty domestics taking up space thankfully) but the selection also includes an unusual amount of uber specialty beers like: a "winter warmer with cinnamon ginger and ham"; a "sour IPA with carrot, cardamom and hops"; and "English Barleywine - Barrel aged (bourbon). These are the outliers amongst a large selection of odd beers and flavor combinations as if folks in this town just received the Sears & Roebuck Co. catalog of beers alongside their uncle's inheritance and have no self-control. How about a plain ole' IPA, with just some hops and without a bunch of wack additions that turn it into a monstrous interruption to the beer-drinking world. But the beer selection is quite good generally. I do like this place. But now the music. Woof. Now this town's music selections suck far worse than many others and Summit is usually NOT the worst offender but unfortunately the owner (maybe?) allows the bartender to DJ. Now, we all know that's a dicey prospect on a good day but when your staff options come from a backwater it's a no-go. There's a bartender here with the absolute worst proclivity to blast the nostalgic hits of his pimply-teened self for all patrons to suffer (not to mention his scary sweating issue but I only have so long to live...). Come, but only if you want to relive your long-haired cousin's angry metal/pop-punk/alt rock 90's: Soundgarden, Green Day, No Doubt, Alanis Morrisette, Tool, Dave Matthews, Oasis, Stone Temple Pilots, The Cranberries, etc. It was painful and painfully distracted me the entire time I was there. Please owners, don't let only let your bartenders DJ - unless they have taste. Or unless you don't (you know who you are). There are those of us out here who can help but also, have you heard of Spotify or Pandora or any-fucking-thing other than letting your sweaty bartender off the leash on our ears. Thank you. The Tap House has quickly become my favorite go-to evening spot, and a place that I take out-of-town guests to prove that Huntington is a real place. There is a wide selection of craft beers that is constantly rotating. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed, and everyone always seems to be having a good time. It is essentially the beer equivalent of Sip. The space can get a little tight on busy evenings, and I wish they opened before 4pm. Other than that, it's great. read more

Eat before you come here, but definitely stop by. Neat small bar, a little off the normal path. 25 taps, great whiskey selection, and a pretty fair offering of bottles and cans. Weird that it's called this as everyone just calls it Tap House, but regardless, yes, definitely the best place in Huntington to try a ton of different beers. Come here when they're having live music in the Heritage Station courtyard for quite the fun night. They change their selection all the time so everything's unique, and you gotta love the television right above the bar that displays the breakdown for each individual beer. read more
