Heater quit working while it was 5 degrees out. Called summer and Zimms and they had Stephen out to fix it. From the time he got here he was pleasant and professional until he left. He took time to tell us what was wrong and how he would fix it, and in a couple of hrs had us up and running. This is the 2nd time we had Summer and Zimms out for our heater repair and both of the guys that came out were AWESOME! We had Tyler the first time and Stephen this time. I cannot say enough good for Summers and Zimms,from talking to the office to the guys that came out and fixed it all. Summer and Zimms is a hand down a 5 star company from the call to the Finnish of repair. Please any heating or AC work you need done call Summer and Zimms, I PROMISE you won't be sorry. My tenant called and told me that his A/C had stopped working. Normally, I address such issues myself. Unfortunately, I was on a trip. Through a friend of mine was referred to S&Z. I contacted them and spoke with Joe. He offered to send his technician to my rental property which I agreed to. Later, I got a call from him saying that I owe $160 for the inspection (which I paid immediately) and that the technician found a run capacitor to be the root cause and offered to charge me another $800!!! to replace it. For context, I've replaced such a capacitor several times in the past myself and the capacitor costs $20 (with overnight delivery from amazon.com) and the replacement procedure takes 20-30 minutes tops. So, the maximum additional charge for that replacement should have not been any higher than $150-$200. Clearly, the contractor was trying to take advantage of my situation and simply rip me off. I declined the offer and called the tenant to discuss next steps. The tenant told me that the technician did not even put the old capacitor back in place!!! I had to call back Joe and had quite a heated discussion as he initially refused to send his technician back to put everything back as he should have done to begin with. At the end and luckily, my tenant was handy and agreed to replace the capacitor with my assistance (remotely) which he successfully did. Unless you enjoy wasting your money and get excited by getting out of emotional balance, stay away from this contractor by all means. read more

I had a huge "leak" around my A/C unit and thought it was coming from there. I called S&Z and the technician came out and checked. I was told ahead of time it would cost $159, and that would go towards any parts or repairs needed, so I was forewarned. Other companies also charge a fee just to walk into the door without any repairs made. It turned out it was a sewage leak from under my house (I live in a mobile home). He took the skirt off and found the leak and recommended I call the park manager to have it fixed. I recently had a lot of construction and completely new sewage system put in by the park. What impressed me was the fact that the S&Z rep called me back a couple days later to be sure I was able to get it fixed. I assured him it was taken care of but appreciated the follow up call. Was disappointed in pricing. When I called and asked what it would cost to come out and diagnose my AC issue they said $99 and if they repaired anything the $99 would go towards the cost of the repair. It turned out we needed a new heat pump. We did an estimate and a month later received a bill in the mail for $255. We ended up going with a different company because Summers and Zims estimate was $6,000 more than the company we ended up going with. When i inquired about the $255 charge they said that that was because the the technician checked the unit and found it low on charge, he had to "sniff" the a/c unit for a Freon leak which was an additional charge (which wasn't explained to me) but if your diagnosing the problem isn't finding the leak part of the diagnosis? Well they got the $255 but that's all they will ever get out of me! read more

Had a clogged kitchen sink. $75 to have someone at S&Z come and look at it. He said it would cost $750 to run a snake thru the line and would take about 15 minutes. I chose not to do that - instead, I went and bought a snake from Home Depot for $25 and did it myself. Not sure why they have such a high rate for such a simple job. Lesson learned. Not happy at all with this company. The owner's response was actually worse than the sloppy work. Was charged an exorbitant price for a very inexpensive sensor for a water heater. Communication means a lot to me and it was poor. Plenty of other companies wanting my business. Moving on. P.S. I would not recommend buying their warranty. read more

I've had to replace my well pump twice in the last 5 years. When we didn't have any water pressure this weekend, I thought, "great, there's another 2 grand that I don't have." I called Sunday afternoon, someone actually answered the phone - no recorded message, and 2 techs were out Monday morning. Turns out, it was just a water pressure switch. Saved me a bundle. Called this company on a Monday morning . They finally showed up after 5PM the following day when one of their representatives was passing my house on his way home. My A/C system was not working . After 10 minutes it was diagnosed with a bad switch . They would not repair the system until I signed a work order for $689.34! Not knowing what the issue was and the fact that it was almost 100 degrees out I signed the work order . The total time at my house was 20 minutes . On review of the repair I looked up the price of the switch which costs retail $35.00. So to recap we waited a day and a half for service and were charged $689.34 for a $35.00 switch and 20 minutes of total time . Complete scam and ripoff . In my opinion this was extortion . Do not fall for their local neighbor , community love fest . These people are thieves . read more

Service is always top notch. Technicians friendly. If they run late they call to let you know. Emergency calls always answered by a person, not a machine. I use S&Z for both my hearing/AC as well as for my plumbing needs. I've never regretted using S&Z and would highly recommend them. read more
