Before going to Summerland I've checked the reviews and noticed low score for customer service. Nevertheless yesterday lunch time four of us went to have the experience that can only be classified as "unique". Firstly, we were greeted by the bored look from a young man with limited english who led us through entirely empty venue and we got seated. A bottle of chilled tap water was served. While the restaurant looked clean and tidy, a quick visit to the bathroom revealed slightly less positive picture. Looking at the menu we noticed that the banquet price has risen to $40 and seafood to $60. Still, we wanted to get some food and we proceeded to order two meat banquets and one seafood. And then to our utmost shock we were told that despite the order standing at $140 we must order another banquet for the fourth person. Just to clarify, this is not "all you can eat" place where per head fee is required, this is set menu / a'la carte restaurant. Obviously we didn't want to spend another $40 because of the restaurateurs say so. After short discussion we did what we have never done before, we left the venue dumbfounded and shocked describing middle eastern culture in words that would not be published on this site.
$40 for food is expensive. Actually it is very expensive. $60 for fish is just a rip off. The waiter was of the "I don't give a damn" type, maybe not rude, but definitely lacking in the service and manners department. Don't think we'll ever go back.
For all hungry souls walk to the Bankstown RSL, excellent food for approx $15 a head. read more
