One didnt know what the bony tori in my mouth even was....might need more training. The other didnt care and continued to insist I bite on the x ray film with all my might even when I told her it feels like Im biting on razor blades. She grabbed me by the fat under my chin, shook it and told me that if I would just relax it wouldn't hurt.....you cant relax a bone to my knowledge.My mouth was all torn up by the time I left there. One tech did an additional xray without covering my body with the apron. My mouth hurt for 10 days, but I didnt think too much of it because the xray films were cutting me up. I noticed what I thought was a canker sore on the tori and decided I was going to take off the little white piece because it wasn't healing up..... Lo and behold! It wasn't a canker sore...it was a shard of what was probably tooth material embedded in my gums! Lots of blood came out of the hole and up from my gums under the tooth once I removed it. But man! My mouth felt much better after that! Im sure this isn't the way they typically work, but it was my personal experience. Wish I had a better story to tell!

Ever since then things were different. The last two times I went for a simple cleaning I was charged around $70. First time I was told it was for Xrays. Weird I had to pay out of pocket but I just accepted it. Went back earlier this year and paid MORE than the last time, it was $90 something for just a cleaning!? Then suddenly Renee informs me I'm out of network. Couldn't have told me this before? Especially considering I've been loyal to this office for 10 years?! I called to question it and they said they might've charged me for my DADS exam or something. I haven't been under his insurance in years. Renee was out of office so the girl told me they would call back and refund some of it. This was five months ago. Needless to say that refund never happened. Thanks okc smiles, I won't ever be back. Dr. Pilgrim has a beautiful office and is a good dentist, but there has been much turnover in staff…read morerecently. The new hygienists he has are more worried with each other than with interacting with the patient. Dr. Pilgrim himself also needs to learn what is and is not appropriate to say to patients. Making comments regarding a patients age when choosing to have children is inappropriate. I, for one, go to the dentist for care of my teeth and not to be told I'm crazy for having children at my age. When the issue was brought up with staff, it was dismissed as a joke that I did not take well. "Sorry you feel that way" is not an apology.

They even prefer his practice to any other's. He has performed a huge range of treatments on each of us, from multiple cavities in a child to cosmetic to crowns. We couldn't be more satisfied with the results. He prioritizes his work and isn't trying to run you five figures into debt when you sit in the chair. That's how you get lifelong patients.
