    Red bean bingsu

The red bean bingsu is delicious. It tastes like cereal. 10/10 would recommend! Very generous portion as well

Strawberry cake is so light and delicious. A bit overpriced since they moved to the Strip District, but the quality is still great.

Came here on a cold Saturday morning because several have recommended this bakery on Walnut Street…read more Since it's just a small walk-in, we purchased a few goodies and took them to a cafe to enjoy them with some coffee. They have two cases of their delicious looking pastries, one table of discounted items, and a case serving hot items. Open that case and serve yourself the hot mini quiches and empanadas. Started with a mini quiche and a beef empanada. Hubby liked his quiche. I'm not a fan of olives and they were all over my beef empanada. Will not be getting that one again. The kind young lady behind the case helped us order our very first Burnt Almond Torte. It comes in different sizes and we chose the bar as it easily serves two. She even gave us sporks to eat it with. We really loved the Burnt Almond Torte. The inside has a soft, moist vanilla cake layered with a thin layer of icing and enrobed with more icing and topped with the buttery, crunchy almonds. We will be back for more.

I started with the quiche and enjoyed it; the crust was just average but the egg filing was very good. My wife was not a fan of the empanada so we will not get that again. It was around 10 hours before we tried our Burnt Almond Torte...wow! That dessert is something that I will eat again, and again. The toasted almonds were soooo good! They were crunchy, crispy, and perfect. The Bar Cake had a white cake inside and icing on the outside; it was heavily coated in those almonds. The person who assisted was knowledgeable about the items to a point; she did not eat anything in the bakery so it was by observation. Don't care, that Burnt Almond Torte is the real deal!

It seems too far for most people staying in downtown but it just so happens that we were on a road trip and therefore....had a car. Less than 10 min from downtown was all it took. No seating inside actually which gave me an excuse to wolf this shit down in the comfort of our rental car. Breakfast sandwiches were a given but I was struck by the adorable and enticing pastries and breads on display. There were a number of appealing contestants for my sandwich but the ubiquitous presence of my arch nemesis onions made it slightly challenging. We had spent the preceding few days in Cleveland and then Pittsburgh and while sauerkraut has a lot of nutritional benefits, it is somewhat lacking in protein so I felt comfortable with the "breakfast" with chickpea tofu egg scramble, roasted tomato mayo, vegan sausage and pickles on a nice, juicy bun. I admire the chickpea tofu egg it was a very nice replica for eggs. The sausage patty was gigantic and that mayo was so good. GF ordered the seitan melt with sauerkraut, red onion, oat cheese, pickles, toum, and roasted tomatoes. I tried some of the seitan which was doused in sauce and EXCELLENT. Our road trip bread supply was dwindling so we also got one of their whole grain sourdough loaves which is fantastic and still kicking 5 days later. Paired wonderfully with soup So good

The owners are incredibly kind, warm, and welcoming, which makes every visit even more enjoyable. I've traveled to Taiwan multiple times, and the breads and pastries here instantly transported me back to the bakeries of Taipei. The flavors, textures, and freshness are spot on. Everything tastes amazing right out of the bakery, but if you warm the pastries in the oven or air fryer at home, they become even more delicious. I never expected to find one of my favorite Asian bakeries in Pittsburgh, but Pink Box is truly a hidden gem. Whether you're craving authentic Taiwanese baked goods or simply appreciate exceptional food, this bakery is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended!

The only part with purple color was the tip of the shell. I can see grease soaked the wax paper on the bottom of the cake. Not sure how long it sat there on the shelf. So, I went back next morning to see if they have fresher ones on the shelves. I saw the one I left the night before. Ahhh... moon cakes must be shelf stable. Not! Each baked goods should have date time stamps. I felt cheated. Pink Box Bakery is the only Chinese bakery in Squirrel Hill. I think I'll go to Korean or French Bakery on my next visit.
