Such a quaint little place - absolutely loved it! We came in for the Baklava (which was amazing, BTW), and stayed for the cozy ambience and friendly service. Highly recommend it!!!
It is a simple place with a lot of flavor and heart. I usually get a falafel sandwich, the falafel is crispy but not dry. The pide with sausage is very good. Service quick and easy to order online. The inside is sparse and cold so I would not sit and eat.
Stop by this no frill restaurant to try out their Doner Sandwich. I am used to Doner wrap at my local Turkish restaurant. First time trying a sandwich. I would say it is good but the meat tasted a bit too dry for me. Adding the sauce directly into the sandwich helped. I did get the combo and you get the fountain drinks along with a good helping of fries. One thing I wished I tried is the tea.
My husband and I are visiting Pittsburgh for a conference. He picked this place, and I was a little disappointed at first that he didn't pick a "fancy" place for a date night... boy, was I wrong! The food here was incredible! I got one of the doner platters. The doner was a lamb/beef mix with some incredible buttery-tomato sauce on top and a side of delicious rice and yogurt. My husband got a doner sandwich and a side of babaganoush. The pita was so fresh and soft! I also loved the decor here, there were bright fabrics covering the tables and displays with cool pottery inside. Our servers were kind and helpful. Would definitely come back.
Stopped in for a quick coffee and decided to try the Walnut Baklava as well. The Baklava was delicious and the coffee wasn't bad either. The staff was friendly and wish I had enough time in Pittsburgh to come back to try their actual food.
Convenience of being next to my hotel. Beautiful day, sat outside. Great service and fresh bread makes the difference.
We're in from out of town, and we were thrilled to eat breakfast/lunch here. Everything was made fresh and was delicious! The menemen dish came with homemade bread that was *chef's kiss* -- so pillowy but also crispy on the outside and so tasty. The service was great! Would highly recommend! Also got a latte that was excellent.
All I ordered was baklava. It was pretty good. Much sweeter than I was expecting. But still tasty. Service was fast.
Had a nice, quick lunch today. Kebab was nice and juicy, love when they carve to order. Fries were excellent and a generous portion. Big winner was the baklava. The pistachio was among the best I've had,

Everyone liked their food and I had a taste of everything. It was delicious. The service was very good until near the end of the meal. The owner is actually from Turkey, so the food is very authentic. It was nice talking to him about his home country, since I was only there for a few days & didn't get to explore as much as I'd have liked. I'd love to return someday. Until then, I'm sure I'll return to Sultan Doner Gyro for good food.
This place has been a staple in me and my boyfriend's Pittsburgh experience for three years now and it's still going strong. The owner is always the kindest to us when visiting and he never forgets his loyal customers. My bf and I never miss out on getting the 4 piece Baklava and it hits every time. If you're in the area, give this place a try!
Food could have been better. The staff was so nice and told us how everything is homeade but I thought this homeade bread was lacking flavor and the gyro meat was dry. Lots of prints everywhere inside, very busy vibe. Not too many people when we came by for lunch.

Ok stop wha'cha doing cuz I'm about ruin the image and the style that your used to.... About Donner Kebabs! The year was 1997, i was 18 years old and i had completed boot camp and AIT in the states and was sent to Bad Kreuznach Germany as my duty station. There was a donner kebab spot next to the bar that we frequented and this is where i was introduced to the most perfect sangwich i have ever had! The years pass and i left Germany but not my love for the doner kebab. For decades i tried to find a doner kebab spot that could even try to be as good as I once had but no one ever came close, until Sultan found me. These doner are absolutely the same caliber as those from my past. I have eaten lunch here yesterday and today and, there are many government officials from other countries that would love to know where i will be tomorrow. Lets give them a hint. read more
Stopped for quick tea and coffee. I had a Turkish coffee and my friend had a Turkish Tea with a Pistachio Baklava. With coffee prices rising out there, I thought this was now pretty good value here! I also got a Doner sandwich to go. I'm always on the hunt for a good shawarma/kebab and regretfully, a really good one is hard to find all over the country. The one is pretty decent; I was happily surprised. They use a distinctive pita (not sure if I was told they bake it). This was high quality bread! I was happy to see they were cooking and shaving off the meat on demand, as it should be. Everything seems classically done the right way. I'm glad I found a really good option. Seating is a bit basic with only a few tables and chairs. However, I appreciated the decor with Turkish ceramic mugs (for sale too), Rumi quotes, Istanbul pictures, etc. Looking forward to coming back and trying the Pide! read more

Exceptionally good food and very friendly service. Stopped in after the symphony nearby. I got a gyro salad and my son had some lentil soup. Both were excellent! Afterwards I enjoyed a fresh brewed Turkish coffee that was perfect! Great fare here...give them a try! read more

Really good stuff served here! They recently expanded their menu, too, to include more not so traditional items that people can enjoy. I ordered the cheese Pide, a ball of falafel, and the rice pudding. The cheese Pide was quite good and price was pretty reasonable. Size was a little on the smaller side but not bad. It's very similar to a pizza. This Pide was made from the regular cheeses (I believe maybe mozzarella, or they could have used a Turkish cheese) with the addition of ricotta. Nice and cheesy. The crust was not too flavorful but okay, what have preferred it crispier. The falafel ball was also quite tasty. It was somewhat small but packed a punch in flavor. Great texture, and amazing crispness on the outside. I think their falafel sandwiches are probably a good pick for lunch. The rice pudding was super homey and delicious. Very creamy and rich as well. The portion was decently large but the price was a bit on the high end at $6.50. They also have desserts like tiramisu and baklava available. All in all, definitely a great spot for Mediterranean food. Everything I tried was tasty and I would certainly recommend you try this place out. read more

I love this place and constantly want to go back lolol. They're so fast with the food and it's always hearty and delicious. I don't remember what this pictured food is called but it's SO yummy and I crave it all the time. Baklava is also awesome. Love coming here before shows downtown. read more

I have been to this place two times now and both times were such lovely experiences! The food was absolutely delicious and I will be going back again. Such a peaceful atmosphere and everyone working is super kind. The first time I went I got a Turkish Coffee and while it was smaller than what I was used to, it gave me more energy than any other coffee I've had before. This place is not too pricey and I would definitely recommend! read more

Food was fantastic, and even the price point is well justified considering the taste and quality of food. The speed of how quick the food made it to our table was perfect for a very hungry family of 3. We had beef doner wrap, chicken kabob plate with rice, Mediterranean salad, baklava, and Turkish tea. Really, this was exactly the flavor I was hoping for and they nailed it. 10/10 for sure will be back for all of it again and again. I think everything was just how I wished it would taste but the baklava really impressed me, I've eaten baklava literally all over the world... and I can honestly say this was the best I've ever had. The ambiance was very comfortable, don't expect a traditional high end white table cloth restaurant feel, rather a relaxing laid back almost like you're at friends home that makes delicious meals. A must go and repeat visit for sure. read more
We made a quick stop here for some baklava. Noticed they also made smoothies so we ordered a strawberry smoothie and a mango smoothie along with the baklava. The smoothies were incredibly good. Tasted like drinking a mango and a strawberry. The baklava was excellent as well. We didn't try any of their other food but saw some of their dishes at other tables and they didn't look like they would disappoint. read more

I have been to Turkey three times and this is the real stuff. Meze platter is amazing. I also had iskander but I was too busy stuffing myself and forgot to take a photo of it. Highly recommend. You generally can't go wrong with Turkish food. My Turkish friend also enjoyed the food. read more
Delicious turkish food. Excellent pide and doner sandwiches. They make the bread fresh in house and it is amazing. They have a fairly large eat in area as well as tables outside. The service was excellent. We got our food pretty quickly. read more

I feel like I would want to give some of the other menu items a try before genuinely saying if it good or okay (definitely not bad). The bread on the pide I got was just a little bland, but the tzatziki sauce was good, and the staff is very friendly although a little slower, but the restaurant is huge inside and also very nicely decorated! read more

I pass this new gyro shop on 6th street often! Recently I was reminded of it when I attended the block party in front of their shop. They were shaving the lamb meat for gyros and serving spinach pies and baklava. It looked and smelled delicious, and people were lining up for it. I mentioned it to my family and we tried it for dinner the next night. We arrived on a Friday night after happy hour around 6:30 or 7 PM. We were the only people in the restaurant. We saw a few people come in while we were eating, but I guess they took their food to go. First impression - the restaurant space is huge for downtown. You look at the chalkboard menu and order at the register. They prepare the food and bring it to your table when it's ready. I wasn't sure what the vegetarian options would be like, but was happy to see falafel. My family got the doner kabab which they were very excited about from visiting Germany. They ordered doner kebab, but then realized it was listed under platters. It came out as meat over rice on a platter. I think they were expecting it to come like the gyro. My parents ordered gyros and loved them. I went with the falafel salad with the dressing on the side. The tahini dressing was awesome. The highlight of the meal was the baba ganoush! It was super smoky and chunky. I loved it! My falafel salad itself was just ok. I liked the big chunks of feta, but the vegetables were not super fresh or flavorful. The falafel was good, but dry. I will definitely go back to this restaurant, especially because the owner was so sweet! I think I just ordered the wrong thing. Next time I'd like to try the spinach pie and other vegetarian apps. The baklava looks amazing too. read more
