Stopped for quick tea and coffee. I had a Turkish coffee and my friend had a Turkish Tea with a Pistachio Baklava. With coffee prices rising out there, I thought this was now pretty good value here! I also got a Doner sandwich to go. I'm always on the hunt for a good shawarma/kebab and regretfully, a really good one is hard to find all over the country. The one is pretty decent; I was happily surprised. They use a distinctive pita (not sure if I was told they bake it). This was high quality bread! I was happy to see they were cooking and shaving off the meat on demand, as it should be. Everything seems classically done the right way. I'm glad I found a really good option. Seating is a bit basic with only a few tables and chairs. Really good stuff served here! They recently expanded their menu, too, to include more not so traditional items that people can enjoy. I ordered the cheese Pide, a ball of falafel, and the rice pudding. The cheese Pide was quite good and price was pretty reasonable. Size was a little on the smaller side but not bad. It's very similar to a pizza. This Pide was made from the regular cheeses (I believe maybe mozzarella, or they could have used a Turkish cheese) with the addition of ricotta. Nice and cheesy. The crust was not too flavorful but okay, what have preferred it crispier. The falafel ball was also quite tasty. It was somewhat small but packed a punch in flavor. Great texture, and amazing crispness on the outside. I think their falafel sandwiches are probably a good pick for lunch. The rice pudding was super homey and delicious. Very creamy and rich as well. The portion was decently large but the price was a bit on the high end at $6.50. They also have desserts like tiramisu and baklava available. All in all, definitely a great spot for Mediterranean food. Everything I tried was tasty and I would certainly recommend you try this place out. read more

The speed of how quick the food made it to our table was perfect for a very hungry family of 3. We had beef doner wrap, chicken kabob plate with rice, Mediterranean salad, baklava, and Turkish tea. Really, this was exactly the flavor I was hoping for and they nailed it. 10/10 for sure will be back for all of it again and again. I think everything was just how I wished it would taste but the baklava really impressed me, I've eaten baklava literally all over the world... and I can honestly say this was the best I've ever had. I pass this new gyro shop on 6th street often! Recently I was reminded of it when I attended the block party in front of their shop. They were shaving the lamb meat for gyros and serving spinach pies and baklava. It looked and smelled delicious, and people were lining up for it. I mentioned it to my family and we tried it for dinner the next night. We arrived on a Friday night after happy hour around 6:30 or 7 PM. We were the only people in the restaurant. We saw a few people come in while we were eating, but I guess they took their food to go. First impression - the restaurant space is huge for downtown. You look at the chalkboard menu and order at the register. They prepare the food and bring it to your table when it's ready. I wasn't sure what the vegetarian options would be like, but was happy to see falafel. My family got the doner kabab which they were very excited about from visiting Germany. They ordered doner kebab, but then realized it was listed under platters. It came out as meat over rice on a platter. I think they were expecting it to come like the gyro. My parents ordered gyros and loved them. I went with the falafel salad with the dressing on the side. The tahini dressing was awesome. The highlight of the meal was the baba ganoush! It was super smoky and chunky. I loved it! My falafel salad itself was just ok. I liked the big chunks of feta, but the vegetables were not super fresh or flavorful. The falafel was good, but dry. I will definitely go back to this restaurant, especially because the owner was so sweet! I think I just ordered the wrong thing. Next time I'd like to try the spinach pie and other vegetarian apps. We discovered this delightful restaurant a few months ago when we lost reservations elsewhere due to poor traffic control in Pittsburgh during utility work. We have sampled the falafel salad & the enormous, gorgeous Mediterranean salad (with artichoke hearts, roasted red onion peppers, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, various greens & pitted olives to which we added 4 falafel (enough salad to split as a meal for 2.) Both are delicious. We love the hummus with warm pita or the babaganoush. Spanokopita is a large serving & flavorful. Eager to try the kebabs & gyro plates when weather turns cold, we also are planning to try the red lentil soup. The coffee bar is a great place for a morning or afternoon break. The baklava (especially pistachio) is the best I have had because it is fresh. The falafel sandwich is large enough for 2 meals for me. We enjoy talking with the owners who are welcoming & greet us warmly as now regular customers. Often, their children are present. There is no bar, so this is a family friendly restaurant. No frills - order at counter & feel free to inquire about the food. They deliver to table on trays. They even offer burgers & fries for people not willing to try Mediterranean food. But please do. Everything is freshly made. It is not fancy; however prices are reasonable, & atmosphere is quite pleasant. We have tried virtually every restaurant in the Pittsburgh Cultural District. Some have closed permanently since the pandemic shutdown, some have declined in food & service quality while increasing prices dramatically & constantly trying to upsell. This little gem on 6th Street is our favorite because of all its positive attributes.
