Ok, I cannot help myself. I am totally in love with this dish and I wish I could eat it every day. So, it is Snapper Wings Jungle Curry. Now, if you like hot food this one is for you. If you are not partial to chilli, avoid this meal. The Snapper wings are lightly battered, fried and full of flavour! There are hints of many different spices within the batter, but not overwhelming. As for jungle curry sauce, well that is packed with a punch, complimented with thai basil and slightly acidic. I can imagine this meal being served as street food in Thailand. The flesh from the snapper wings is sweet, moist and tender. But, you do have to get into it with your hands, and is kind of messy. I would have struggled to use a knife and fork. Lucky, it doesn't bother me using my hands. As for the restaurant itself, it's decor doesn't really feel like a Thai Street Food vendor. It just kind of looks like any other restaurant. It would have been cool to theme it kind of pop up style with bamboo or crates or something. Add something else to the experience. But, this doesn't bother me too much as the food is amazing!

I finally made it to Soi.38 and must say that it is some of the best Thai food I've had in the city. It's a gem of a place on Pulteney Street. I tried the Pinto (banquet) which include about 6 or so different dishes to share. Every single one of the dishes tasted amazing, there wasn't that one dish I would usually pass off when having an Asain banquet. Highlights were definitely the Kangaroo Massuman Curry, Duck Red Curry and the Stir Fried Minced Chicken. My only quiff with this place (but this may be my cultural ignorance) but when trying to pry away the delicious meat off the bone, and your only equipped with a fork and a spoon, it can lead to loud stabbing noises on your plate or your food becoming a projectile. Mains are around $18-22. Drinks are a bit pricy. There's a full menu on the website which also has seasonal specials. Can't wait to come back; I've got a few years to catch up on!

Sukhumvit Soi. 38... It's a mouthful to say it but this little place off Pultney St is making a name for itself for all the right reasons. Named after a "famous street food address in Bangkok, 'Soi.38' aims to bring the best of Thai street food to Adelaide". I think that they have definitely achieved what they set out to, and then some. Firstly I want to say, good on them for picking an authentic thai name for the restaurant. Most would probably call it Soi 38 as the full name is too much for most people, who are used to Thai restaurants with names like "Café Michael" or "Danny's Thai bistro". On our first visit to Soi 38, I had a duck curry with lychees and it was amazing. The price was fairly standard for good Thai at about $25 for a main, so the whole meal was about $70 for two mains and two drinks. I think my partner had snapper wing curry which was interesting. After that experience I could have taken or left the place. Great food, but a bit pricey so it was somewhere I would think of for a treat. That all changed this last Saturday night when we went there for my partner's sisters birthday. She told us that the restaurant had informed her that we had to have a banquet (Pinto set menu) as we had more than 6 people, which we thought was unfair and would cost us more, but we were wrong. Very wrong. For $35 each we were slammed with dish after dish of awesome Thai street food. Cold rolls, chicken wings, spring rolls, thai basil beef, massaman pork, satay prawns, salad, veggies and sticky rice. By the end of it we were all saying "no more food... please", because it's so tasty you can't stop eating it. I'll definitely be back for another banquet. Anyone's birthday or whatever the occasion; I'll be suggesting Soi 38

Soi 38. has been outstanding since opening night. The owners, complete strangers to me upon first visit, offer such outstanding service and passion for their project. As someone who has traveled to Thailand a number of times, I find it so refreshing and exciting to find true Thai street-style food here in Radelaide. With three of the owners being Thai, and the fourth being an Adelaide gal who was a tour leader in the region for years, it's not a surprise they are offering up something different. I strongly recommend you share between your friends family-style so you can share in the fantastically tasty and fresh food they have on offer. I would list my favourites, but to be honest every dish I've tried is fantastic. I haven't bothered with the Pad Thai as you can get that anywhere. Instead I recommend you expand your horizons and try something you've not tasted before. For lunch, I can't go past the curried chicken soup as a cheap and tasty study break.

I have been here several times for work lunch and they had a different seasonal menu everytimes. On our lastest visit, we had the calamari tentacles, spicy cockles and pad thai noodle. The calamari tentacles in spicy soy sauce were very tasty, and I would come back just for those. The cockles cooked in a spicy lemon grass sauce and they went very well with the steamed rice. As for the pad thai, it was one of the best I tasted. I would definitely come back and try their other dishes.

Here's a new Thai Kid on the block, Sukhumvit SOI.38 Thai Street Food. This is not the usual Thai food.. They are making Thai Delights that I've not seen on the streets before. They are trying to be a little more authentic so some might get too hot for some Aussies :) My 1st visit, I had some 'Tiger Lily' grilled steak. nicely cooked sliced beef with a delicious dipping sauce, served with a side of Sticky Rice. All very nice. I will have to be trying more. even down to their $10 lunch specials

The appetizer mix we had was some of the best things I've eaten at a Thai restaurant! The fish curry was SUPER spicy! I love spicy food but that was a little hard for me to get through. LoL

Ranks in one of the Top 10 meals I've ever eaten. We had a large party that ordered the banquet menu...an amazing array of fresh flavors. Simply superb. The Som Thai Basil was great. The banana leaf salad with squid was amazing.

We had a group dinner tonight and it was a great. First time visiting here, love the clean and modern décor and I couldn't relate this to authentic Thai street food. I had my doubt that this is just another westernised Thai restaurant. Man, did they prove me so wrong. Great serve size and reasonable priced. Amazing flavour. Loved every we had and will definitely coming back for more. Very friendly service and it was so great to feel the positive vibes from their staff. I guess the only thing is I don't know how can a soft drink more experience than a amazing fresh fruit smoothie.

First day open, first dinner trade. This Thai street food restaurant is going to be a hit. We had the Chiangmai sausage served with lemon and fresh cooling vegetables. The chicken larp and sticky rice and the sweet and spicy Pad Khee Mao with pork. Everything was delicious. The decor really well done and the service warm and attentive. They will have EFTPOS in a few days and a liquor license in six weeks.

I got stir fry and rice to take away and have a picnic in the sun

Delicious Thai food with the option to eat in or take away! So many gluten free options and the food is wonderful. Good dose of chilli in the chicken stir fry and lovely service! Fairly unassuming in decor but the food is worth the price and will leave you very happy!

The selections of wine were brilliant, the staff were friendly although there was slight problems with communication as the waitresses english was not great. We had the vietnamese spring rolls, chi special fried rice, pad thai, crispy choo chi barramundi extra spicy, roast duck in tamarind sauce and fried ice-cream for dessert. The main courses were amazing, constantly surprising us. The spring rolls were made in-house and probably the best spring rolls I've had in Adelaide. The crispy barramundi was also extremely good, the coconut was not overwhelming but the creamy texture was still maintained in the sauce. The stand out dish though was definitely the roast duck in tamarind sauce. When my father choose this item (we have a system where everyone chooses a dish and we share), I have to tell you I was skeptical. All the previous dishes with tamarind that I have tried is generally in indian food - where it is in the form of a chutney or mixed with spices where its taste is lost. The sweetness of the tamarind remains but is not overpowering and is accompanied with citrus flavours and star of anise. The dessert, fried rice and pad thai were nice but a little overpriced. Although the food at this restaurant was excellent, it is slightly overpriced for some of the meals. I can't wait to go back! I think I'll try some of their specials next time.

I ordered the Laksa, and loved every bit of it. It was only after I received my Laksa that I noticed a Laksa on at least eight other tables - it's definitely an option that I would recommend! So fresh, so much flavour and not too much coconut milk - perfect! The service was super friendly and quite fast for a Friday night, although the tables were really close to each other that it seemed a bit crammed. I'll definitely visit again. Danny's Thai Bistro is a great casual dining option on The Parade.

Are you one of those people who orders the same old meal every time you go to a restaurant? Well,…read moreI'm not.....usually. I add the caveat for this review because, while I normally class myself in the "menu adventurer" class - I mean I'm practically the Marco Polo of food, I will try ANY new food once and without hesitation - there is something about Danny's salt and pepper squid that gives me complete menu tunnel vision. It's SO good, I order it, almost without thinking, every single time I eat there. Before I know it, the menu has been whisked away, I have a beer in front of me, and I realise my mouth has somehow ordered the same thing, yet again, of its own accord. Have I become an old person? Why do I do this? Let me explain. Salt and pepper squid is one of those culinary dishes claimed by multiple cuisines: equally at home on a pub menu as a Chinese banquet. EVERYONE thinks they can do it - but few actually can with any élan. I've had bland squid, tough squid, chewy squid, spicy squid, big squid, small squid, red squid, blue squid... you get the idea. But when it is done right - and as you may have guessed, Danny's do it right - it is one of the most enticing, tastebud pleasing dishes on the planet. Many try, Danny's succeeds. For this reason alone I give an enthusiastic 4 star/ yay! I'm a fan rating. There is actually a lot to recommend on the menu in addition to the squid (I always go in a group and have several dishes to share), in particular the chef's specials, which regularly includes a spicy crocodile dish that is amazeballs. If I had to knock off that one star, it's that the serving sizes are certainly not huge. And this is coming from a petite chick: big guys would have no chance of being full on one main/ entree. My advice: order several starters and dishes to share, it's more economical and you're more likely to get your fill. Opening hours are "till late" every day, which is generally around 10 - 10:30pm depending on how busy it is. I may have mentioned this already, but the salt and pepper squid is pretty good.

The food is amazing. I have had almost every dish on the menu and I have never been disappointed. Once I even accidentally ordered a giant plate of seasoned bean sprouts and it was delicious! However, I have some recommendations that you must try. Their curry puffs, I have never in my entire life consumed such amazing curry puff. The pastry is perfect; the stuffing is delicious and just spicy enough. The spring rolls are also a must. For mains, you have to try the satay tofu. Now I am a picky tofu eater, I have tried tofu from almost every Asian restaurant in Adelaide. This tofu is good. It is cooked to perfection, the sauce is peanuty, slightly spicy and delicious to soak up with a pile of steamed rice. The service is great, the owner always greets us when we go in and makes sure we are being looked after well. It is also exciting that when you pay for your meal you are rewarded with a fortune cookie! Madame Wu's can get extremely busy so I would definitely recommend booking for groups.

I did have the privilege of eating here once, however, and I was extremely pleased with both the meal and the service. The laksa noodles are freakin' awesome. Laksa noodle soup isn't exactly as difficult as making souffle, but Madame Wu's interpretation of this classic Malaysian dish is miles ahead of some of the others I've tried in and around town. It's a little pricier, but your taste buds will thank you for it. The customer service is also great, but because of the constant barrage of customers, you might feel a little ignored every once in a while. But never fear, they'll tend to you eventually with friendliness. Don't be surprised if you have to wait for a table if you don't have a reservation, this place is always filled to the brim. I've come by many times hoping to be seated, but was told to wait up to half an hour My advice - book in advance!
