My friend and I came here to try their famous viral push pop sushi. She got the California roll and I got the shrimp roll. Even though the sushi is in a push pop, it is pre sliced, so it made it very easy to eat. The stick you use to push the sushi up also acts as the soy sauce holder for your sushi. The sever was really nice with walking us through the process. The place is small but there is a counter area with a few seats that you can eat at. My friend and I opted to dine in and we both enjoyed our rolls. Definitely worth it to stop in and you can eat it on the go.

Very different sushi experience! As I Mentioned in the video it's modern day to go sushi. You can see them making the sushi and updating the rolls in real time so it's not pre packed like alot of to go sushi spots. They've been packed for awhile so glad I was able to come in and check them. Customer service was great as well, she asked us if we know how to use the tube (even though it's on the tube and easy to follow) she still showed us how to use it!

Bland. How old was this sushi? How long was it sitting out? I went home and made fresh sushi after this to remind myself what flavor tastes like. Fun concept for a sushi spot but $16 for bland sushi is quite bold. They only had this flavor ready. The staff seems super swamped.

If I could rate this ten stars I would. Such a fun fun concept and it is executed so well! I will warn you, they will sell out. Your best bet is to plan to get there either when they open, or check and see what time they post they may re-open after their morning product sells out. We got there about 5-10 minutes before their second opening in the day and were in and out pretty quickly even with a line. I got the Spicy Tuna roll: super good, super filling, and worth the price you pay. It may seem expensive but those are well sized pieces and every push pop comes with ten. They all come with soy sauce which you can pour/ drizzle into the container. I need more places like this around the country! There is very minimal seating indoors so plan to be in and out very fast.

Fresh, filling and fun to eat.

Thought I'd have to wait in a long line, especially with how busy the city was with the NBA Championship, but to my surprise I was able to walk right in. Wish I had taken note of the lady behind the counter, she was super inviting and very enthusiastic to explain anything on the menu. She offered everyone that came in a tutorial on how to eat and not drop the pop. Menu is minimal but it was evident they know what the most desired combinations are bc I wanted to order every roll. There is not really seating inside as it's a tiny place, so we stepped out to have fun eating ours outside. The rolls are quite large. One was definitely enough to fuel back up for walking the city. Fun & Friendly!

We came for the hype a while back and took our visiting friends-- it's a fun concept, but the sushi is not mind blowing. Wish we tried the salmon roll, but we all got spicy tuna-- the owner was friendly and greeted us in line! Hope to try it again when the line is a smidge shorter! Cheers!

My son, his best friend and I all agreed this was literally the best sushi we have ever tasted. Worth the trip into Manhattan from Long Island and in a lovely area in Flatiron District / NOMAD. There is even a little patio nearby that's part of Baruch college (I think) where there are tables and benches so you can sit and eat. Or walk a few blocks to Madison Square Park. But before you go - you need to know what you are in for. I read the 1 and 2 star reviews and I felt so bad!! You need to know: the wait is LONG. The rolls are expensive. They are giant and worth it. Plus the push pop idea is something you can't find anywhere else. The restaurant took off on TikTok and I don't think the owners ever expected what NYers will do for amazing sushi. They are overwhelmed and still deliver with a smile. They smartly close mid day to catch up on orders. They close at 2:30 pm (maybe a little sooner) to catch up on orders and open again at 4:30 for dinner. Line up at 3:30 if you want dinner!!! Like anything else in NYC lately it's a bit of an ordeal but that's part of the experience. So here was our experience on this mild December Saturday. We drove to queens and took the subway to Lexington Ave. (it's cheaper than LIRR for 3 adult fares). Walked a few blocks to the sushi place and the line was not very long but inside was packed. It's tiny with counter seating to wait. We arrived around 1 pm I think. Well they stopped taking orders two people after ours! Talk about timing! It wasn't even 2:30. Get there at like 11 am for lunch if you don't want to take chances. They said it would be an hour and a half wait and they took my number. We were hungry so we dipped into wing spot and shared 6 wings and fries between the 3 of us to tied us over. We made some friends in Wing Stop and chatted a bit and then wandered flatiron. Saw the tree in Madison Square park. Went back (maybe an hour passed) and they said we were next and it would be ready soon. The staff is SO NICE! It breaks their heart to turn people away but they just cannot keep up. They are looking to expand! I had the shrimp with cream cheese roll and my son and his friend had California rolls. We all tried both though! You could tell how fresh they were - delicious. The Roe was the perfect crunchy complement to the crab and shrimp. And the cream cheese in my roll was not overpowering. It was ideal. They don't have a giant selection but it's definitely worth planning ahead to enjoy Suka Sushi at least once! It seems crazy but people wait for broadway shows, bagels, even to get into FAO Schwartz. As long as the staff continues maintaining their friendly disposition I think Suka sushi can continue to do well!!! I suspect other restaurants in the area are also doing well for people who decide it's not worth the wait or are turned away.

Unagi Sushi Roll

Pretty mediocre experience at Suka Sushi, similar to other reviewers. The odor inside is pretty intense, something between a strong fishy smell and sewer smell. The rolls are very expensive for what you get, and the only compelling factor is the unique presentation. The unagi roll was okay, the unagi was decently tasty, but I did not like the added cream cheese. It's an okay one and done for me.

I was there in the middle of the day and there was no line. The concept of the spot is taking out sushi to go, like a snack, so there is not a lot of space inside for staying in or something and that's not a disadvantage, it's the idea itself. It's very convenient the way they serve sushi, you don't have to touch food with hands, no sticks needed and the taste is not bad. However, it was 16 dollars for one roll, the choice is also quite limited. For me, it is a nice one time experience, but I don't think I will go there next time on purpose.

Creative concept of sushi "push pops." When I went around midday they were out of several items, and the only options to immediately order were the California roll and the vegetable roll. California roll was great but vegetable roll left a lot to be desired

Visiting New York for the first time and we HAD to try Suka Sushi, especially from all the posts we came across on Instagram. Once we walked in, the smell was HORRIBLE! I can't even describe the stench. I wanted to leave but my daughters were excited and still wanted to try. It's very small inside, which is fine. There are a few bar stools for you to sit and eat. The rolls are premade and kept in a case. Service was terrible, no welcome in, no how are you, and no recommendations. We ordered the California Roll & Spicy Tuna. Both were just okay, but what made us not finish our rolls was the fact that the rolls were warm! We took one bite each and threw the rest away. Overall it's a great idea, but there's no need to go here.

An interesting concept to sushi; push pop and to-go. The marketing they received was a bless and curse because it's so popular people be waiting around the block. I got lucky, waiting about 30 minutes before getting inside: but waited about 30 minutes to receive my order. The downside that I overheard from other customers was the policy of one roll per person. The store itself is very small; wonderful friendly workers though! I see potential in this establishment, perhaps having better flow in orders/time wait. I ordered the California it was so good. For the price verses size I feel like it's worth it. Remember, you're paying for the experience too. I'll be back to try more flavors

While visiting New York, I knew I had to stop by Suka Sushi after seeing all the hype on TikTok and Instagram, and as a sushi lover, it definitely lived up to expectations. I ordered the Philadelphia Roll and the Unagi Roll, and both were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. The quality of the fish and the balance of flavors really stood out, making each bite enjoyable. What made the experience even more memorable was their unique packaging and presentation. It added a fun, modern twist to the whole experience and made it feel different from your typical sushi spot. Overall, the sushi absolutely did not disappoint, and I can see why it's been getting so much attention online. If you're in NYC and love sushi, this spot is definitely worth checking out!

Honestly, I'm surprised this restaurant has a four-star rating. While the service was excellent,…read morethe food was consistently disappointing. We started with a lychee martini that tasted overwhelmingly of vodka, with barely any lychee flavor. Of the appetizers--the seaweed salad, cucumber salad, and edamame dumplings--the cucumber salad was the best. The seaweed salad tasted like a standard prepackaged version, while the dumplings had an unusual, unpleasant flavor and tasted as though they had come straight from the freezer. For our main dishes, we ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and udon with tempura. The udon was acceptable, but the tempura was excessively oily, lacking the light, crisp texture you would expect. Even the chicken teriyaki was underwhelming; it tasted more like a reheated, prepared meal than something freshly cooked. The sushi was another letdown, with an odd flavor and appearance. The dynamite roll was especially disappointing, with an unpleasant texture and very little flavor beyond a touch of heat. The staff deserves credit for their attentive, friendly service, but unfortunately, that couldn't make up for the quality of the meal. We left feeling genuinely disappointed.

Every single fish is very high quality I find many places like the skimp out on the less popular fish but not Sanyuu West. I think the omakase is also at a very good price for the quality and amount you get though I know it is more expensive than maybe the average omakase spot right now. I also find that other spots usually underdeliver. I wish I could save more detail but honestly I have nothing more to say other than the fact that Sanyuu Weat amazing. The restaurant itself is also more spacious than I expected. Besides the main bar there are two sitting areas near the window as well as seats lined up to the bathroom to make yourself comfortable two things that I think are a rare find now in many places. A lot of thought is put into this restaurant layout and I think you can tell. The service was also great I found myself never lacking in water or waiting too long for my next piece. In fact, I had started to apologize about drinking so much water because I felt like the hostess was constantly at my side refilling my cup and she just turned to me and said, "don't apologize. Drinking water is very important." So true!!!! I'm very picky abt my recommendations to friends, I'll review any place I go to and give my thoughts but a real recommendation? It is a really small place with around 6-8 tables so it probably gets busy at times and there may be a wait. One of the best parts of their menu here is that you can order sushi by the piece. Do of course I use Yelp to find something that catches my eye close by where we need to be. I found umami Sushi. We usually can't go wrong with Japanese food or sushi. We had no problems finding the place. The description said it was a small restaurant and as we entered the dining area was very small. Our hotel room was probably bigger. That doesn't bother me especially if we get there, there tables for us to sit comfortably. I also trust my judgment when I find a place that seems to be popular by the locals. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We were the only ones there, but for some reason we bring good vibes to the places we eat because not too long after we placed our order, people started coming in, to the point that the small dining room was packed. I love Omakase style Service and what we ordered was a sashimi/sushi platter for three and two special rolls. I thought I got to choose the rolls but even that was chefs choice. I was just a bit worried that they would give us the cheap rolls like spicy tuna or California roll. The platter came out and it was beautifully prepared with a piece of sashimi for each of us and the rolls the chefs chose, ended up being two of my favorite rolls. The types of fish they selected were also great quality fish. We were lucky to have placed our order before the crowd came in our we might have had to wait a while because how they prepared it would have taken some time. The service was just right. Because they got busy right away, the waitress was forced to attend to everyone and couldn't really socialize with us. In fact when we finished our platter we were debating what we wanted for dessert but the waitress didn't even ask us and instead she just brought us the bill, so we said to ourselves, "I guess we're not having dessert here." So we paid the bill and gave an opportunity for someone else to take our table.
