Getting a new fit
Samuel O.

It's great if you understand how this Suitsupply works. Key notes: · Make an appointment!!! They have limited staff that are very intentional in supporting their customers. This means if you have an appointment, they will get you the appropriate service you need to look good while meeting your budget. However, go in there without an appointment and you'll probably get ignored (happened to me my first time until I lingered long enough to catch a sign...) · Park in advance. Parking here sucks. It's Abbot Kinney. If you've been here before, you would know. · They have so many suit options. If you have a non-standard fit (e.g. muscular or wider than the standard), they offer custom suits and you have more selections available. · I learned this on my third visit, they offer way more than just suits. Check it out :)

Not a super reviewer by any means. Only rarely come online to review. Gotta give Reginald (Reggie) major props for being one of the most knowledgeable, professional & fun specialists I've ever worked with in the suit game. The Abbot Kinney location where he's at is great. Stop by, say hello, he'll help you with whatever you need.

This location is amazing I'm always looking sharp! Fares is the man! He has the vision to always make me look sharp and knows what I want. Highly recommend Fares and suit supply Venice!

"Suitsupply is a men's fashion brand founded in 2000 by Fokke de Jong in Amsterdam. Suitsupply is a vertically integrated company,[1] and the brand is known for choosing unconventional retail locations.[2][3]..."* Amen! Suitsupply's Abbot Kinney physical plant is definitely unique, a yesteryear beach bungalow and an upscale interior stocked with all of, well most of the things I'd want to buy if I were a guy. Oh WTH! A sucker for haberdashery because it's a fact men's clothing is made way better than women's even our high end stuff, I zeroed in on shirts. A whole wall of neatly folded totally tailored shirts I'd buy in a heartbeat in a size small or the designer's equivalent. Really, who cares if the button placket is reversed? I don't! All this browsing on my part, aware it wasn't about adding to my shirt inventory, hubby searched, sourced a lightweight outerwear vest we saw on display with the assistance of a personable, knowledgeable sales guy. Hubby is really picky. Grateful I hadn't come here alone and purchased what he rejected doesn't mean I wouldn't bring him back on another shopping excursion because we were treated so well. Also doesn't mean I wouldn't return solo for a few more great white shirts of my own because a gal can never have too many great white shirts! Suitsupply custom makes suits and provides in-store tailoring. Due to time of day and weekday, we were fortunate to snag a two-hour meter right on Abbot Kinney Boulevard. No Yelp check-in as my phone's wifi wasn't cooperating. * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suitsupply

Wedding planning has been overwhelming, but Martoinne made this experience one of the easiest and most enjoyable parts of the process. He and Stephanie were patient, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in helping my fiancée and me find the perfect look. We left feeling confident, excited, and grateful. Black Tux is INCREDIBLY fortunate to have someone like Martoinne, and I know everyone he helps will be in great hands. Thank you both for making this such a memorable part of our wedding journey. I'm honestly fuming over the experience I just had with The Black Tux…read more I previously rented suits for my groomsmen through them, and today I went in with my best man to get his rental sorted. He had been out of the country, so we were trying to handle it as a walk-in. The older blonde woman I spoke with immediately told us, in an incredibly rude and dismissive tone, that they were fully booked and that we needed to make an appointment online. That's fine. I understand that appointments are required. But since I was already standing in the store, I simply asked if she could help us book an appointment or have someone else assist us. Instead, she repeatedly told me she was doing a fitting and made absolutely no effort to help, answer our questions, or even direct us to another employee who could. She could have easily said, "Let me find someone who can help you," but instead we were essentially just turned away. It's not the fact that they were booked that bothers me. It's the attitude and complete lack of customer service. I'm already a customer who has rented multiple suits through The Black Tux, and this is how I'm treated when I walk into one of their stores asking for help? At this point, I'm seriously considering returning everything I've purchased/rented and taking my business somewhere else. Being busy is understandable. Being dismissive and rude to your customers is not.

There has never been a more penny pinching and less moral booking policy. Only 15 of my 200+…read morereviews are 1 star, so I don't choose that ranking lightly, especially for a small local business. We booked an appointment 4 or 5 days ahead of time, as there was full availability on the calendar for weekdays. There is a 48 hour cancellation window, and at hour 47 we realized that the timing conflicted slightly with a work matter (when we made the appointment we were in New York and miscalculated the time difference). An email was sent at the 47th hour (1 hour after the window), mentioning the issue and asking if it could still be canceled since it was so close to the window, and apologizing for missing the window. The owner replied and specifically said "No problem, we've gone ahead and canceled the appointment for you". At this point, we figured all was well as they made no mention of still charging the fee. A few weeks later, we noticed the charge was still there. A quick email reply came when we inquired saying it was past their window and no refund was due. IF this was the case, why did the original email not say so and why did they make 0 effort to reschedule or ask if another time worked better? OR we could have made it work if she hadn't responded so positively. What a slimy way to make a quick $27 for nothing. I will restate that the calendar was still really really open (ie, it was not a highly sough after appointment slot taken from anyone else even on the off chance they were booking in the 2-4 days out window). Overall, it is a blessing the appointment didn't happen after reading some of these reviews about how the owner acts in person (no surprise there). Ended up with a beautiful dress from Berta and would highly recommend their new LA showroom on Beverly.

Offers customized solutions

Tl;dr: If you have a thing for clothes and want to experience the "best of the best" (in every…read moreregard), Jerry and Ivan at JB Clothiers are the guys to see. Period. From the first call to the final fitting - and their post-delivery followup - every aspect of my experience with them was aces. In too much detail: Absolutely fantastic in every regard - JBC isn't merely the finest tailoring Los Angeles has to offer - it's literally a "Destination Clothier." This is going to be a long review - but then again I had a really wonderful experience, and in so many ways, that I can't sum it up quickly. Personal background - I have 25 years' experience selling exotic cars to very high net worth clientele in Los Angeles, and I am very aware of a what a luxury experience looks and feels like. So I sort of walked in the door "loaded for bear." My other experiences had the veneer of luxury, but not the substance of luxury nor the quality of product. A glass of wine doesn't overcome the fact that the end result is a disappointment. Anyway - I could no longer find clothes "on the rack" that were made of fabrics I wanted (sport coats and suits in particular). I had tried two "made to measure" clothing stores (Suit Supply and Indochino) and been disappointed with the results, so I searched for a literal in-Los Angeles custom tailoring service (where I could consult *directly* with the tailor - not just an on-site rep for a tailor half a world away). After much deliberation, I made an appointment with JB. I must admit I was somewhat skeptical by this point, when I arrived for my first consult, even after all my investigation. The feel of JB Clothiers is EXACTLY what I was hoping to find when I walked in for my first consult. After meeting Jerry (the founder/proprietor) and his partner Ivan, I had great confidence that my research had paid off. The conversation about what I was looking for and how they could achieve it was quite in-depth (and I actually learned a few things about my taste). Jerry and Ivan suggested subtle ways of "expanding my taste envelope" while still well within my taste bandwidth. There are myriad choices to make - and with each one I was getting more excited to see the end result. The measuring process was thorough and precise, having me adopt different postures and re-measuring many times. I was there for the better part of an hour. About a month later, Jerry called to set up the first fitting appointment. I about died when I saw my coat for the first time. It's gorgeous and not so much a coat, as a garment, I think. The details are exquisite - and they are everywhere, beyond the special embroidery you'll be offered. It is quite literally a work of art. We tried it on, and made various adjustments, and I left not sure I'd be able to wait until it came back. Long story about how I Dunning-Kreuger'd the first alterations, which were literally put back on the 2d fitting. Sorry I wasted your time, guys. But by this time, I was so hooked on both the product and the experience, that I added a matching pair of slacks to the coat, turning it into a 2-Piece Suit. Going back the third time, I picked up the pants - they are not only gorgeous with the same attention to detail as the coat, but they fit me unlike any pants I have ever owned IN MY LIFE. They are utterly incredible. Fantastic! At the last fitting all of this was immediately and obviously worth every penny and every second of time. And admittedly, I'd added considerably to the time by the alterations I thought I wanted in the first fitting. I have tried this suit on with nearly every shirt/tie combo I can put together - it it so wonderful! This experience was very much a splurge for me - and I plan to do it again as soon as I can. Yes - I spent about 50% more than I would have for a Canali suit off the rack. But I got 5x the suit as a result. I'll never again waste money on clothing - what JB made for me is a lifetime investment, and no clothes I've ever had fit that description. Really not sure how to better convey my enthusiasm than to say I can't wait for the next time I decide to tread myself and add to my wardrobe. At the end of the day, the expenditure at JB will actually saved me in the long run - no more wasted money on clothes that are sorta "close enough" but never right. And no more wasted time trying to find them, either. Did I mention I love this suit? I love this suit! And I had a total blast along the way! Thanks guys!

This place is nice but maybe a little overrated…read more Jerry's not a bad guy and probably not a bad salesman. I thought I was coming in for a consultation, and I liked the fabrics and patterns we came up with, but he was disappointed that I was not ready to throw down $4,000 for the custom suit that day. (He convinced me that anything cheaper in his shop wasn't worth my time.) I can see why he likes to close the deal the day of. The more I thought about it, the less comfortable I felt throwing down than much for this suit... I had a few other reasons, too. Anyway, I sent a message to the store the next day, politely explaining why that I appreciated Jerry's time, but the shop wasn't for me. Jerry ended up calling me, and I wish I hadn't answered. He started trying to get me to get his cheaper stuff that had already talked me out of. He was pushy, dismissive of my reasons and all around unpleasant. I think they have some off the-rack suits available, too, and I believe they offer tailoring, but I am no longer interested. He'll probably respond to this and be dismissive again, but those are my two cents. He has a nice assistant. I won't pretend it's bad quality. Still three stars.
