He was very patient and helpful when explaining the huge amount of options but helpful in helping us dial into what I wanted. He made time for my appointments, was always very clear about schedule and expectations, and nailed every aspect. Even with some tough timelines around covid and manufacturing, Robb made sure things went smoothly and went above and beyond on adjustments to get it exactly how I wanted. I couldn't be happier with my first custom suit for my big day! My bride and I had a vision for a tan jacket that we couldn't find anywhere, except at Bespoke Mr. James. After exploring around LA for options, Robb clearly stood out with not only having the color and material we were looking for, but also providing his expert opinions on the minor details from what material to use on the tuxedo style pants, bow tie, and even the type of undershirt that would look invisible under the white dress shirt. These are details I didn't even consider or even know of, but I felt in great hands from the start. Through the entire process of purchasing my first bespoke suit, Rob at Bespoke Mr. James was great. I had shopped around for a while and met a few custom suit makers in the LA area before deciding to go with him for a few reasons: 1. He was decisive and gave his expert opinion while also being open to my tastes and thoughts. Too many places showed me a bunch of suits and said "We can do whatever you want" without much guidance. Rob was able to take our vision and apply his expertise. 2. Quality. Bespoke Mr. James's suits are cut and assembled in France, then fitted with an excellent tailor next door to their brick and mortar shop. We spoke about half vs. full canvas and I was able to land full canvas in the price range I was hoping for. Most importantly, Rob was communicative the entire time. I asked for a suit pretty close to my wedding date, and was worried about shipping, but Rob assured me we would be fine, and even explained how we had a backup plan if anything went wrong. I was recommended Bespoke Mr James by a friend who attended a wedding where the groom had a custom suit made by Robb. He was gushing over how good this suit looked, so I had to look into it. I reached out to Robb about 2 months prior to my wedding date and inquired about a custom suit. It was my first dive into the world of custom clothing so I was a total novice and had no idea how to go about the process. From the get go, Robb was extremely helpful and patient with me and my questions. During our first meeting, Robb asked if I had an idea of what I wanted. The only thing I knew at the time was that I wanted a navy suit, all other details were over my head. When I told this to Robb, he reassured me that that's enough and that he can work with that. I'm a stickler for details. I often annoyingly point out every detail of a suit to my wife: "I know you don't care.. but the pick stitching on that lapel means it's quality." So when I was looking for my first bespoke suit through Robb, and we spent a good 40 minutes going over every single inch of the suit down to the collar felt, I knew I had found the right guy. He explained to me the compromises in price/quality between fabrics, and never pressured me to upgrade. Robb is the man! If you are looking for a bespoke suit, look no further. It was my first time getting a custom suit and I had no idea what I was doing, but Robb is a kind gentleman and very patient as he guided me through the whole process. He is often traveling the world to different fashion events, or outfitting broadway musicals and other corporate clients, but when he meets with you he makes you feel like you're his only client in the world. I was getting married in Colombia and started the process 3 months out. I got to choose every little detail and got all measured up, but then I was busy traveling for work and then the holidays. When I got to try on my suit for the first time, I realized I made a huge mistake. The fabric I chose looked horrendous on a suit, the color was definitely not the way I had pictured it, so I had to remake a new suit. I almost majorly F'd it up and it was all my fault. Unbelievable, after looking at suits for 16 months, I was 3 weeks away from my wedding and I had nothing. Groomzilla time hahaha jk. We met up and I looked at hundreds of fabric samples again, and chose a new fabric. Robb was super kind and patient with me the whole time. He moved things around and pushed his team just to expedite my new suit. The week before I had to leave to Colombia, I got 2 more fittings and booooooom! Voila! The world's flyest suit was completed. Robb somehow got it done in time, and the best thing: he only charged me his cost of materials for the re-do. He threw in a free custom shirt. Also I chose a very loud/unique colorful lining for the jacket and he made me matching pocket squares for all my groomsmen. AND initials and wedding date on the inside of jacket. NOW I was feeling like a million bucks. I got so many compliments on our wedding day! All my friends want a custom suit now. I have a stubby body, kind of short and thick, and I can never find slim modern pants that fit my fatty thighs comfortably, unless the waist is 4" too big. These pants were perfect for the first time ever. And most importantly the jacket, it fit my upper body like a glove. I had the modern cool euro slim style, and I danced the night away comfortably. You will get a beautiful custom suit that's made in France, not in China! Not to be disrespectful but simply to point out that the quality is much different. Suit is made of fine Italian wool instead of cheap synthetic polyester. Quality and service at its finest! Mr. James does not play around when it comes to customer service. I had the opportunity to collaborate with Robb on my wedding suit. This included a two-piece half-canvas suit, a vest, and a white dress shirt for my wedding, which were all custom made. By custom made, this means selecting the fabric and picking the designs to the smallest detail. Overall, I would recommend Robb and the experience he provides to anyone in the market for a suit. It is certainly more expensive than your average suit from the Nordstroms or Banana Republics, but you will feel great and proud. We often forget that the alterations of an off-the-rack suit can quickly add up in cost. Lifetime altercations are included in the pricing. My cost was in the low $1,000s. For our first meeting, Robb dropped by my home and took the time to explain the process, design the suit (decide on the fabric, designs, etc), and took my measurements. He was very patient with my questions and requests. We met at the tailor's about a month later to try on everything. This visit, as he explained prior, took a while as it was an opportunity to make as many adjustments as possible (again, alterations are part of the total cost). Subsequently, we met twice more. Robb never rushed me during each of these visits. As far as timing was concerned, our initial meeting was late March 2018, our first fitting was about a month later, and our third and final fitting was a couple of weeks after. All in time for a late May 2018 wedding. I was very satisfied with the suit. I felt great in it and received a lot of positive comments. Wow! I've had a few custom suits made but the quality wasn't there. I've purchase off the rack and had it tailored but still didn't fit. Then I discovered Mr James! Bespoke Mr. James came to me, he was super punctual, super easy going, and communicated clearly. This review is very past due. I had Robb tailor a 3-piece suit for my wedding back in January 2019. It was a very good process. To start, I visited his office in PV to get measured and he helped me pick out all the details for the suit from the buttons to the style to the pockets to the inner lining. Since my wedding was in Thailand, he suggested certain types of materials that would be lighter and more breathable in the hot humid tropical weather over there. After about a month, he texted me for my first fitting. We met at the tailor that he contracts with that does the alterations for him since it was closer to me. I had been dieting and working out to lose weight for my wedding so the fit came out looser than what we expected. Both he and I didn't think I would lose that much weight in that amount of time. About 3 fittings later, I went in for the final fitting before flying off to Thailand. He suggested that I take the pants in more, but I was scared it would be too tight in case I wanted to maneuver around. In conclusion, I should have listened to him and taken the the pants in more because it was a bit loose in the photos, but it's not his fault. 100% my fault that I should have listened to the professional. I can't recommend Robb enough. He really knows what he's talking about and is great at getting the measurements and fit down to make you look your best.
